L'Dee's Pancake House has been around since the late '80s, being family-owned and -operated. The menu offers items such as pancakes, waffles, French toast, omelets, sandwiches, subs, salads, and lunch and seasonal specials. The hubs and I came here to try them out for breakfast - we saw that the place was packed, and there was a short line with a wait time for about 20 minutes or so. We ended sitting up at the counter, which was great, but there isn't much room there, as you'll literally be elbow-to-elbow. The stools were a little wobbly, so just be aware! We ordered a seasonal special, the pumpkin pancakes (which were fluffy and moist and had a great pumpkin cinnamon taste to them); a Steak & Eggs Special (the steak was juicy, but the home fries were a little bland); a cup of Chipped Beef and a cup of Sausage Gravy (I wasn't a fan of both, as they seemed to have been no seasoned and were both lacked flavor); and, a Two Eggs platter (opted for the pork sausage links; the pork sausage links were juicy and had a nice snap). Our server was friendly and checked in with us throughout our meal. The rest of the staff could have been more welcoming and be dressed with a smile! You can tell that both the locals and the tourists alike frequent this place for breakfast eats. Really really disappointed. Given that it's called a pancake house one would think their pancakes would be half decent. I was served the worst pancakes I have ever had. It had no flavor, bad texture, it was gross, I didn't want to eat it. I would not return and I wouldn't recommend. read more

Came here for breakfast while in town because of their good ratings on yelp. I am glad that we did. It was 4 of us that went and we all enjoyed our food. The place is easy to find with enough parking. The waitress that took care of us was friendly and accommodating. I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast and it was delicious. I'm famous for not finishing my food but I tore all of that up! Lol I would definitely visit again and try one of their pancake flavors. Everything looks so good and the portions were plenty. Came here with the family for breakfast. I had the Pancake breakfast with blue berry pancakes and scrambled eggs bacon and sausage. Some had French toast, waffles, eggs over easy and kids pancakes. Everyone's feelings were the same. The price is very reasonable, waitress was nice and the food is ok. If I lived here I'm sure I would come here occasionally but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back as a tou. Be aware of the cash only policy. A wonderful establishment of Front Royal. We came to town on a limb and no plans; after eating here the first morning of our stay, we decided we'd come back every morning for the rest of our stay. The staff certainly knows their regulars, and recognizes new folks and cares for them just as well. Nice breakfast place. All the food was well prepared. The server was incredibly nice. While I was trying to place my order, she even made suggestions on how to spend a few dollars less. The prices were reasonable. We had the breakfast platter and biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were light and fluffy. The gravy was hearty without being too thick. We saw a couple of customers walking in not wearing masks, even though there are signs posted outside that it's required. I wish the staff had been a little more diligent about it. This place is L'Deeangerous. Haha! It is so close to the start of Skyline Drive / Shenandoah National Park in Front Royal. It is the best place to stop by for some fuel right before a hike or post hike meal. You also can't find anywhere else with their prices. Got their simple egg, pancakes, bacon and sausage plate... and I gotta say... rarely would you come by a restaurant that offers both bacon and sausage!!! And for $6?! It's such a steal. Also tried their French toast on the side and that was just as delicious and affordable. Between me and my so friends- we each got their pancake order, French toast, two of their biscuits, and a coffee... it came out to less than $30. Like no joke... such a steal. It can get real busy and packed in the morning so definitely go as early as you can. It's first come first serve with the tables... as soon as someone leaves, you should just go on and sit down to claim it. But of course, be kind and mindful of those before you. read more

I was in the local area getting some car repairs done and had time to stop in for lunch. I walked in and knew that the place would have good food as it was PACKED! Every table was occupied and the noise level was pretty loud. Suprisingly, we only waited a few minutes for a table and the staff took drink orders quickly. I had a bacon cheese burger with fries and it was delicious. The folks with me had assorted foods from the menu and all were very complimentary on the taste and portion size. The downside is that the tables are very close together and it feels very crowded and a bit uncomfortable. Also, with as busy as I'm sure the kitchen was, it was almost 25 minutes from the time we ordered until the time we got our food. So the bottom line is five star food, but had to knock off a star for the crowded tables and slow service. read more

I ordered the french toast special and my fiance ordered the biscuit special. I very much enjoyed my meal. Everything was cooked to my liking. My fiance's meal, however, was a miss. Who ever the girl was who took my husbands order told him it would be 30mins for our Togo order, she tells him a hour later it's going to be another 30mins... think about this we now are looking at 2hrs on a Togo. In my opinion she should've told him the truth "hey, we are really busy; it's going to be awhile" then on top of it y'all should've at least discounted the food. Came here on the suggestion of a co-worker, and I was fairly pleased with what I had today. Since they are only open from 6 am to 2 pm, I had to hurry my butt to get there. It's kind of easy to find, but I'll need a gps each time just to get to the street. The parking there isn't very plentiful, it's easier just to park on the street and walk up. Now, once inside, the place was packed! I chose to sit at the breakfast bar, since it was just me (mind you, it was 8:30 am). After taking suggestions, I had the 2 pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage. Plus a glass of apple juice. Overall, the food came very quickly; sadly though, nobody really talked to me there, some places will but they didn't. The food was pretty good! Eggs were not greasy, pancakes had excellent texture and flavor, and the sausage was terrific. I didn't eat the bacon, it looked too burnt. No, they do not take credit cards, but it was worth the $10 for breakfast. It's nothing flashy, but some nice home style country cooking (it almost looks like a diner). Sometimes, places like this can be overlooked because of places like Cracker Barrel, IHOP, and Waffle House, but it's the wonders and magic of them that gravitate me for seconds, which next time, is what I'll gladly do. read more

Staff here is very pleasant and friendly, and about 75% of the customers at any given time are first-name-basis regulars, which makes you feel right at home. Don't be surprised if a stranger invites you to take the empty seat at their table if you're waiting, or if the table next to you is close enough to join in each other's conversations. Word of warning: parking lot is small, but there is street parking. Don't park in the insurance company lot behind the restaurant, they WILL tow.
