Family was looking for a local establishment in Front Royal to have breakfast. Had sausage gravy, biscuits, eggs and beacon. It was very good. My son had the banana nut pancakes with eggs and beacon. The food was outstanding he said. Great fresh coffee. Wonderful local town breakfast, lunch pancake house. Service was wonderful. Everyone was great. The atmosphere was very clean and cute. I will definitely come back. All staff was wearing a mask, they spaced the patrons 6' apart for social distancing. They do take out so we ordered lunch and dessert. Can't wait to return! read more

Good food, good waitress, but they were very slow, like a 1/2 hour, to get our food out to us. Waitress said it takes a little bit longer with a chicken sandwich, really. When the food was finally brought out another waitress brought it out. We asked what took so long and she said, "we are busy". Wife ordered pulled pork with coleslaw on the side, it came out with coleslaw on the sandwich. They said they would make another one but didn't want to wait again because they were soooo busy. Found this place on my way to the top of Skyline Drive. Sat at the bar near the cash register. Lots of families with their kids; one of those places where everyone knows everyone else. The gentleman next to me was enjoying his Saturday paper and a very sweet woman quickly offered me a cup of coffee. My order was taken and my food brought out in 15 mintues, tops. I tried the biscuits with sausage gravy, french toast (delicious!), scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. The eggs lacked the flavor I'm used to but my God that french toast made up for it ten times over! Amazing. Perfectly cooked. Everything was delicious. The portions were perfect as well. My son and I absolutely love this place. We have made it a tradition of ours to come here for breakfast once we drop the older kids off to school. He is 4 and always ask if he can go to the place for oatmeal and pancakes. Of course L'Dees has more than pancakes and oatmeal, but that is what he has grown to love about this place. Discovered this restaurant today while visiting Front Royal with my family. This is an old school family diner that's as good as it gets; I'd come here every week if I were a local. Super-friendly service, terrific (and affordable) breakfast fare, and an all-around welcoming vibe. If you've ever seen the movie 'Waitress,' this diner could well have been the inspiration. This morning was the first time I had gone to L'Dees and it was excellent. Good food at a great price and the service was awesome!

My gut (hm. pun intended) wants to give this place two stars, but the crew here was fantastic. Very sweet, wanted to be helpful (hey, we ask questions I'm sure no one else asks: Is the apple compote topping extremely sweet?). Many of them seem to know most of the guests on a personal level. The general atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, especially on a drizzly, gloomy day. But otherwise, my experience was mediocre. The apple cinnamon pancakes were fine, and perhaps the compote was homemade, but it tasted a bit like packaged pie filling to me. My husband described the apple cinnamon French toast as "simple and edible" ... not memorable. My fruit cup of pineapple, mango and papaya (with banana, as an option) was from a jar or can, though the bananas were fresh. We finished our cups of coffee long before our meal but didn't receive refills until after we'd finished, and when my husband wanted butter, he had to go to the bar to request it since the servers were chatting at length with other customers (I love that, I do! We're just impatient.) Bacon, I must note, was perfectly crisped and salted. Don't miss it! I left feeling like I'd squandered my opportunity to have a tasty breakfast in a cute town. However, the menu offers plenty of huge breakfast combo options for cheap, so if you're looking for friendly service and a full plate, this is your place. read more

Open early and fun retro feel. Only tried breakfast items but they were a great deal and good bang-for-your buck. The swiss and mushroom omelet was delicious and the toast was already pre-buttered. The hash was not the best I have had/nothing special, but is filling. My boyfriend and I are both from small towns and saw this gem one morning while out and about. It's seat yourself, the staff is so friendly and welcoming, and the food was excellent! The whole time we were there (around noon) the place was packed and the environment was homey and family oriented. It's cash only BUT there's an ATM in the back hall of the restaurant for your convenience and prices here are a steal for what you get. Fried eggs and bacon were just like being at home :-) Also, I don't have kids but the women's restroom looks like someone's home. On Saturday 9am, 10/13/18 we visited L 'Dees at the recommendation of our hotel clerk. We had 13 motorcycle riders that were hungry for breakfast. We walked in, saw it was a small mom/pop place and didn't think we were going to be able to sit together. The waitresses were kind and said "honey, you just wait right there". In a matter of minutes, she had two big tables put together for our entire crew to sit together. The service was fantastic, the hometown feel is what we were looking for, the food was ON POINT!!!! The food was excellent and it was brought out fast. We made sure to take care of Marilyn with a great tip for her taking such good care of us.
