The cashier was rude and impatient. I was the only one in the store, buying a single item, and not even being slow, so I don't understand the rush. They kept tapping the screen before, during, and after I scanned my card (telling me to scan it again because they thought it hadn't gone through even though there was clearly a loading circle showing it was processing). The store charges an extra "technology fee" (I think it was 10 to 15 cents?) for paying by credit card. I didn't see a sign anywhere about it, and the cashier didn't bother to disclose that. There are many variants of baked pastries. Mostly the same you find at chinese bakery store. On Monday ig has special promotion of drink and bento. The price for that is very good. I was looking for baked bbq pork bun and I cannot find it. Baked bbq pork bun is usually found in Hongkong style bakery. One closer one is the one with dry pork bun. This is a little Taiwanese bakery in the plaza where the old Joanne Fabric used to be. They have lots of fresh baked breads, pastries and snacks, plus some hot food and drinks. They have the best sesame seed cookies which I've always loved. It's worth going just because of these. It was hard for me to really rate this bakery. I either really enjoyed or really dislike the food here. I feel like the actual breads/pastries are pricey and just not very good. Today they were selling moon cakes for $12 which is just too expensive. They also sell hot foods like bentos or fried chicken. The two things I would come here for would be pig ear crackers and shaved ice. Their pig ear crackers are truly the best I've ever had, super thin and crispy. Their shaved ice is traditional taiwanese style which is very nostalgic and also super hard to find in the US. If you're the type to that prefers mango snow shaved ice, then it might not be for you. But I would strongly recommend it to everyone. I've also had their sesame cold noodles which was just average. I think O2 valley is better. One thing I will say is the owner is rather blunt. There were customers there trying to purchase mung bean mooncakes (which are priced insanely at $8.50), but she wouldn't let them buy it. I then bought a pastry item to go, but they charged me incorrectly. It was only a $1 more, so they supposedly fixed it and shared a receipt. I was a little suspicious that it didn't seem legit. Noticed this small bakery pop up on my Yelp randomly and decided to visit since I was already in the area. It looks like it's a small business/independently owned bakery which is awesome and they offered a variety of traditional Asian baked goods and snacks. I originally wanted to get their fan tuan (to compare to another one I had earlier in the day), but the girl at the register told me they tend to sell out of those really early since they're only available on the weekends. I also wanted their curry beef horn, but it was also sold out. So I ended up picking up the curry beef bun and the black pepper pork bun instead. The black pepper pork bun was huge and very dense. I enjoyed the flaky-ness of the pastry and that it was still hot even though it was just sitting in the warmer. Unfortunately, the meat filling was extremely salty to the point where I was unable to finish after eating about half of it. The flavor was there, but it was just too salty. The curry beef bun was really good though and I liked that they included enough of the meat inside. I'll definitely be back to try out some of their other goodies. The pork cutlet and chicken leg bento boxes had hefty portions of rice, veggies, meat, and marinated egg for lunch. The bento was not the best I've had but it did the trick. I would skip the chicken leg next time as it was a bit cold and very thick. However, the pork cutlet was very fresh and crunchy, so I'd stick to the fried items next time. Their pineapple buns are up there with the best of them. I tried the pineapple bun with cream filling for the first time and it was delicious. The pineapple buns are just right for me-- not too sweet, soft, and slightly crunchy outer shell. The tie guan yin milk tea was of good quality tea as well. My parents and I really enjoyed our visit today. My parents just came from Taiwan. They really wanted some good Taiwanese bread and cooked food. We found very very traditional Taiwanese moon cakes there! The owner is kind and nice. She told me that the store has been there for almost 40 years! That's very impressive! My parents had great conversations with her. She made my parents feel very welcomed. They have very good rice noodles, cold noodle, sticky rice there, and very traditional Taiwanese bread! My only feedback would be that the sweetness was a tad overpowering for my preferences and the boba pearls were on the firmer side, requiring some extra chewing. Also, I wish L'epi D'or Bakery had more drink options, as I was looking forward to trying a new kind of matcha drink, but the selections were quite limited. They also have cold noodles and sandwiches in the fridge section (at end of bakery). My sister and I got some bentos for lunch and bought some bread to go as well. Always like to check out Taiwanese and Asian bakeries; so when I was in Cupertino and hungry for some baked goods, I looked this place up and came to try. The outside of store was not super attractive; however, I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of baked breads and pastries they offer! They have a lot of the usual sweet and savory breads; but I was very happy when I saw they had sweet rice rolls (飯糰), radish pastry (蘿蔔絲餅), and black pepper pastry (黑胡椒餅)! I ended up buying at least one of each on top of several other sweet breads. That's not all: there is this special pastry filled with salted egg, pork floss, red bean paste, and mochi...I was so curious about it so I got one to try, even at $5 a piece. When I got home and ate it, it was genuinely so delicious with well balanced flavors! Definitely I will need to visit this bakery again when I'm in the South Bay! read more

Say "Shaobing" at the counter for their famous Black pepper pork bun. This covet heavenly bun can only be found at L'epi D or Bakery. I'm not kidding! Our friends brought an entire box of goodness for our Napa weekend to eat for breakfast. Never tried it until then. One bite and I was hooked. The dough is crispy on the outside, littered with toasted sesame seeds stuffed with juicy, spicy minced pork mixed with a load of black pepper. There is so much flavor. The mix of texture with crispy outer shell and soft moist meat is soooo good! Being from San Francisco, I thought it would be easy peasy to find it amongst the countless Chinese bakeries in Chinatown or Richmond . Nope. Oakland? Nope. Only in Cupertino.
