I came by Clover Bakery around 11am on a Tuesday and there were about 5 other people perusing the goods. It's adorable inside, warm, and well stocked with almost all of the options. I took a look through the many different sweet and savory offerings, I grabbed a sweet potato danish since it was unique and not something I'd seen elsewhere. The danish was wrapped in cling wrap and packaged inside another sleeve, and was not too sweet, perfectly fluffy and filling as a quick late breakfast option. It was also reasonably priced at only $3.50, and it seems most options were under $5! It's been a while since I've stopped by Clover Bakery, but this visit really reminded me why it's a neighborhood staple for so many years, and I'll definitely consider coming by for some curry pan and other goodies in the near future.

They had a really good selection and i really wanted to try everything but had to practice some self-control! They sell out of some of their popular things so I didn't get to try some of the stuff. I definitely want to try their onigiri next time. I got the ham and cheese sandwich(?), and it was okay! This is just personal reference, but it was a lot of bread vs the filling and the ham and cheese katsu thing was a bit overseasoned. But if i'm in the area again, i'll definitely visit again.

After many many many many many years, I finally tried their spaghetti bread! I don't why I hesitated all these years.....maybe the thought of having carbs on carbs but it's not like I've never done that before. As a kid, I would make a pancit sandwich with wonder bread and I know my fellow Filipinos have done that! The spaghetti is sweet and I enjoyed the addition of hot dogs and Parmesan cheese. I'd recommend trying it at least once in your life. Also didn't know they had musubis and onigiris which you order at the register. Will definitely try when we return.

===TL;DR=== - Strawberry cake ===TMI=== Nothing beats simple and delicious. Their strawberry cake is just that. Ripe and sweet strawberry's all around along with fluffy and airy cake layers. Their whipped cream is a thick layer but the flavor is light. Highly recommend this delicacy!

I happen to see this bakery after lunch when I was walking around the Strawberry Park shopping center. I went in to check it out. It's a Japanese style bakery with sweet and savory pastries, sandwiches and onigiri. They had two long shelves of baked goods. Everything was displayed nicely. All the baked goods looked amazing. They also sell drinks and spam musubi. I grabbed a tray and tongs and picked some pastries to try tonight at home. I got a mini apple pastry, sweet potato butter bread, custard cream cornet, a custard creme danish and a blackberry danish. Everything looked so good. There are tables or chairs inside. This is a grab and go cafe and it's very convenient if you need a quick bite and are on the go. I got in line to pay. I quickly made it to the register and paid. The employees were so friendly and polite. I'm so glad I stopped by here today. Update: We tried these last night (2/12/26) and they were all amazing. Not overly sweet either. Loved it!

I've been a regular at Clover Bakery for many years and it's my favorite Japanese bakery. Their bread is always fluffy and soft, and the variety of offerings keeps me coming back. My favorite is their mentai masago pan, yakisoba pan, and their katsu burgers. They sometimes sell out of different breads throughout the day and replenish them. They also sell onigiri's and drinks. I've also ordered a full cake to celebrate a birthday before. I've tried most of their items and have enjoyed everything! Servers are always nice and friendly. The shop is kind of small and there's frequently a line on the weekends. Parking lot can get quite full since it's the same plaza as Mitsuwa, Daiso, and many other restaurants.

Clover Bakery is a cute Japanese bakery with plenty of options. The plaza itself is busy on weekends. Parking may be difficult to find. The bakery has a lot of foot traffic. Multiple items were sold out in the afternoon but staff were working to restock some items. Onigiri is reasonably priced and cheaper in comparison to other markets. Staff was helpful and quick despite the line growing overtime. Will be returning for the delicious onigiri and amazing price for value.

Their bread isn't the fine fusion Japanese French bakery you'd think of (due to the danishes, croissants, etc) but instead purely Japanese and its goals of milk bread galore. For example, their croissant is literal milk bread...not flaky layers of buttery deliciousness. Their Japanese milk bread is weak and not chewy either (but when attached to stuffing, the bread goes well). However their musubis, onigiris, and sandos are although pricey, fabulous. The assortment and well mix of flavors should be enough to get you through their doors. Originally, I was against purchasing their sandos (because c'mon now... simple ingredients and the hefty price tag?) until I saw a group in front of me purchasing literally 6 strawberry sandos (they are tiny!!! With crusts cut off, filled with strawberry cream and fresh sliced strawberries and sliced diagonally, it's $2.50! Now I'm a firm believer and purchase at least one every single time I'm here. In the past, this place used to be a madhouse due to TikTok... these days, on the weekends, there's sparsely a line out the door. During the weekdays, you almost never hit a line. Their cakes are frugally simple. Their fried sustenances are strangely not chewy. They have the same staff year around..... have to try this place at least once!

I've been going to Clover Bakery for over 10 years now for their onigiri! This homey, hole-in-the-wall Japanese bakery makes the best onigiri and at a great price point too-$3 to $4.25 (compared to $5 next door where the seaweed is soggy!). I personally prefer Chinese buns or French pastries, so I haven't really tried their buns. They do have fascinating combinations like spaghetti and chow mein breads on top of the classic melon pan though. At one point, I noticed the onigiri quality took a dip with less filling, but now, they're back to their original perfection. I appreciate that the plastic wrap separates the seaweed and the rice to maintain the seaweed's crispness when eating, and it's the best feeling when the rice is still warm. My all-time favorite is the spicy tuna, and I usually also get the unagi, salmon with ikura, and spicy salmon. Clover Bakery has a special place in my heart!

    Alan S.

Old school Japanese spot that offers really authentic pastries, and musubi's and onigiri that you would enjoy as a snack. They also have egg sandwich sandwiches and spicy tuna sandwiches like the other yelpers say it was a bit on the smaller side than what I expected, and the spicy tuna was actually really spicy. I loved my red bean pastry and for the Price in the area. This is actually pretty good. I would say overall worth the visit to grab some quick pastries bites to eat and also I saw that they offered drink drinks. I didn't get any this time but maybe next time I'll try that. The service was quick and usually there was a steady stream of customers coming in and out so the line was about medium so expect a wait about maybe 5-10minutes.

This is the only Japanese bakery I go to in the Bay Area. No bakery serves soft, savory buns (spaghetti, fish, and katsu wrapped in banh mi style) and cutely decorated melon pans, including the variety flavors of handmade rice balls. Not even Anderson Bakery can make it fresh. They also have strawberry sando, which is made of fluffy white bread and soft whipped cream, much better than any Japanese grocery market. Although it's a far drive from the East Bay, they do open early at 8 am every day, except on Mondays. The service is friendly, Japanese-style. Every time I visit, I end up with a haul of several buns, rice balls, and a musubi since it's difficult to find this good quality in the East Bay. This cozy store is small with a mini cafe bar, but there's no seating area, so it's best to take them home to heat up in a toaster, except for the cakes. Expect a long line on weekends and mornings.

Don't sleep on the black pepper sausage danish: the croissant dough is crisp and flaky, and doesn't get soggy when baked around the sausage. It's comparable in execution to the Croissant Hot Dog served at Dominique Ansel Las Vegas (in Caesar's Palace), but at a way more accessible price point. Which isn't to say this place is cheap; like many artisanal bakeries in California, it comes with a premium price tag, but at least it's not Dominique Ansel pricy. Croissante's croissant dough baked goods (viennoiserie) is pun-intended "proof" that you get what you pay for. The dining space is limited and lively. Conversing is a little tough, but if you just need a place to sit while eating, it's just right. Extra special shout out this time to Dill who had informed me the fried chicken dishes today would be an hour and a half wait. After deciding there wasn't anything I wanted more than the Fried Chicken and Spiced Croffle (croissant dough baked in a waffle iron) and was happy to wait, they were nice enough to check in with the kitchen and see if it could be made sooner than that. I didn't expect to be accommodated, so I was happy they were able to do that. You get two chicken thighs and croffles per order. It's enough for two light eaters to share.

We walked into a space that is clearly geared toward takeout rather than sitting down, with a sleek, minimalist interior that matches the refined approach of the desserts themselves. Rather than offering a huge bakery case filled with dozens of options, the attention here is on carefully crafted cakes, particularly their signature mille crêpe cakes, and the setup makes it easy to pick up and go without feeling rushed. The mille crêpe cakes are the reason to visit. Each slice is made up of delicate layers that feel light and refined rather than dense or overly rich. What stood out most was the balance of sweetness. The cakes are sweet enough to feel indulgent but restrained enough that the individual flavors still come through clearly. We tried the Hokkaido Milk cake, which was especially memorable with a clean dairy flavor and smooth texture that highlighted the quality of the cream. The tiramisu version added a deeper coffee-forward profile, with the espresso notes coming through without overwhelming the delicate layers. The matcha crêpe cake delivered a genuine matcha flavor that was not buried under sugar, maintaining the earthy, slightly bitter notes that matcha lovers look for. Beyond the flavors themselves, the texture is what makes these cakes special. The layers are thin, consistent, and soft, creating a delicate bite that feels different from a traditional cake. There is a noticeable amount of care in the execution, and the desserts feel thoughtfully made rather than mass-produced. Even the presentation is elegant, with clean slices and polished packaging that makes them a great choice for birthdays, anniversaries, or other celebrations where presentation matters as much as taste. Service was straightforward and efficient, and the ordering process felt easy whether we were picking up individual slices or whole cakes. The staff handled the takeout flow smoothly, and the packaging kept the cakes secure during transit. The desserts are definitely on the premium side when it comes to pricing, but the craftsmanship and attention to detail help explain the cost, especially when you consider the labor involved in creating the thin, consistent layers. Anton feels like a place that specializes in celebrating special occasions. The mille crêpe cakes are the highlight, with delicate layers, balanced sweetness, and flavors that feel carefully developed. If you are looking for a dessert that feels a little more refined than a standard bakery cake, this is the kind of place that is worth seeking out, whether for a celebration or just a moment of indulgence.

I wouldn't bank on same day pickups, I might've just been very lucky they were in the middle of making their cakes but it wouldn't hurt to try calling early in the day if you're in a pinch for a solid cake. I'm very thankful for their service!

Preordered a cake and they even did a custom message for me which was very sweet Cake was very fluffy, good cream ratio, if I were to give it a sweetness rating I'd say it's like 50% sugar (would've liked it less sweet but it's good) Very beautifully decorated - I got chocolate this time but would love to try other more specialized flavors next time It was around 60 for this cake and it fed 9 people!!

It was warm and extremely savory! I also picked up a Pandan Coconut Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and it was just as good as it looked. A typical sweet roll with a hint of coconut and Pandan flavor. Liked that it was fluffy. So glad we stumbled upon this bakery because we wouldn't have been able to experience the delicious bun and sweet roll. Can't wait to stop by again next time I'm in the area and try their other buns!

I rarely go up to San Francisco which has some good bakery shops that makes great pineapple buns. I found this place on Yelp that carries pineapple buns. When I came Sunday evening, they had none left. The cashier said she will set aside some for me the next day for pick up at lunch. Sure enough I was able to get 4 pineapple buns plus I thought I try their bbq pork buns. The pineapple buns were soft and the topping wasn't as flaky as the Hong Kong pineapple buns. The sweetness level and bun were light whereas the Hong Kong is much sweeter and slightly heavier. I say their pineapple bun is decent and their bbq pork bun is smaller than the Hong Kong version. I rate this place a 3.
