It's quite large with many tables and chairs inside, and it's nice and brightly lit. Service was quick and efficient, and they moved us to a larger table after hearing how much we were ordering We definitely overordered and got a seafood pancake to start, the smaller size of bossam, a kimchi tofu soup, and a beef bibimbap. The bossam took a while to come out, and by then we were already pretty full off of the pancake, soup and bibimbap. Service sizes are generous, and this definitely would've been enough for 4+ people to share. There was a great assortment of different banchan - my favorite is the jelly! The pancake was nice and crispy, with a good amount of seafood, the bibimbap had a great amount of crispy rice at the bottom and the tofu soup was comforting and exactly what we were looking for. The bossam had a lot of meat - I kind of wished there was more radish and napa to go with the meat, but it was tender, not too fatty, and satisfying. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Jang su jang is still a classic staple, and has a delicious offering for almost any korean craving you could want. It's a little pricey, but comparable to other options in the area with consistent quality that makes it worth it in my opinion.

The servers were nice and kind to us. There's private rooms inside too for bigger parties. We got the japchae, beef stew, and LA Galbi (not pictured). The japchae was pretty average, but I did enjoy the amount of veggies and meat! 8/10 My favorite was the LA Galbi. It was marinated soooo well and deliciously. Well priced in comparison to many other korean places ! 10/10 Maybe im too spoiled with BCD tofu house but the soup was not that great. i got mild spice (my usual at places) and it overall tasted pretty bland to me. It wasnt the best but it wasnt the worst either. Not spicy, not greatly flavored but still seasoned enough. Once was enough for me, I wouldnt get it again. 7/10 The vibes were nice despite the plaza looking as run down as it is. They have a sign in the front saying to grab any items of value from ur car due to high rate of car break-ins. Overall my experience w this location was 7/10. I would rec the galbi to anyone and need to try their hot pot menu!

You'll have to wait at least thirty minutes unless you get there extremely early. My party of nine was seated around 45 minutes after we first joined the waitlist. However, we were able to order our food ahead of time. The atmosphere of the restaurant was bustling and noisy, a super fun and casual spot. Our dishes arrived minutes after we sat down, which was impressive. There was also a variety of delicious side dishes, with various types of kimchi. The nine of us split two braised beef short rib dishes - and we were struggling to finish it all. The portion size is massive, which makes sense since it's a pretty penny. The meat was so tender, literally falling off the bone. There were a ton of potatoes, daikon, rice cake, and carrots as well. The entire dish was savory and delicious, pairing perfectly with rice. You can also specify your spice level. The medium spice was a fair amount of spice but not overpowering. I highly recommend getting the cheese on top, it provides a creamy contrast to the sharp flavors of the meat. I'm still thinking about the braised beef short rib - it was just that delicious!

The restaurant's ambiance is thoughtfully designed, with a modern yet welcoming atmosphere that elevates the overall dining experience. The only minor drawback was our table's proximity to the kitchen. During the lunch rush, it became quite busy, making it somewhat difficult to hear our server at times. Speaking of service, the staff was attentive, efficient, and accommodating throughout our visit. Our server moved quickly despite the bustling crowd and graciously attended to all of our requests. Now, onto the food. I genuinely believe this may be one of the best tofu soups in the Bay Area. We ordered the spicy Alaskan Tofu Soup, and it exceeded expectations. The broth had a rich, velvety consistency with just the right level of heat. The tofu was silky smooth, and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The Alaskan snow crab and shrimp added a luxurious touch to an already exceptional dish. While we didn't notice much of the abalone, it certainly didn't detract from the overall experience. We also ordered the Wagyu patty, which was equally impressive. The meat was tender, flavorful, and unmistakably Wagyu. What truly stood out was the bed of scallions underneath, which added a wonderful depth and brightness that complemented the richness of the beef. I only realized this after taking a few bites and wish I had enjoyed them together from the start, as the combination was outstanding. Overall, this is an easy 5/5. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the ingredients and execution more than justify the cost. It's rare to find a tofu soup featuring premium seafood such as Alaskan snow crab in the Bay Area, and this restaurant delivers a unique experience that's well worth seeking out. A small red date cake was served for dessert at the end--that's when you know you gotta leave, because the queue outside is soo long.

The service is really prompt, and there's a button to ask for help when you're ready to order or want a refill on banchan, for the check, etc. The interior is nice, modern and slightly upscale. They asked us if we preferred a bbq table and we said we didn't and were led to a bench table. I got the galbitang (the special magnum galbitang was already sold out for the day), and my friend got the chef's special rice cake and dumpling soup. Both came out perfectly hot but not burning, and were the comforting, rich, savory and flavorful stews that we were craving. The galbitang had a generous amount of rib meat that was tender but not falling apart, and the perfect amount of glass noodle. The broth was clean and savory, and I really enjoyed the bits of jujube. I tried a bit of the rice cake and dumpling soup as well, and the dumplings were super large with a soft tofu? filling that was really enjoyable with the creamy soup. Special shoutout to the banchan - one of which was raw marinated crab which was super sweet and tasty with the rice. I also really appreciated the barley tea and the sweet pumpkin soup at the end for dessert, which really round out the experience. There's also a pumpkin porridge in the beginning as an appetizer, but I didn't love it because it had a bit of a raw rice flour type flavor to it. Overall, Chungdam is a classic that serves great, flavorful and comforting food, with excellent service and is a great, well rounded experience!

My party was greeted warmly and was quickly seated after my reservation was confirmed. SERVICE Very prompt and professional service. The BBQ meats were cooked consistently, and every request was accommodated. FOOD Chungdam focuses on delivering high-quality meats for your Korean BBQ experience. The banchan was delicious! I was surprised that three spicy raw baby crabs were served. To be honest, it was my first time trying it despite hearing about the hype. It paired pretty well with rice. The dressing and condiments were perfect. I appreciated that salt was provided since we ordered all non-marinade meats. The fermented bean curd dip was my favorite. The seafood pancake we ordered took a bit longer to arrive, but it was delicious and crispy!
