Visited L'experience for seattle restaurant week. The prix fixe menu included a croissant, raspberry mimosa, and choice of Benedict. The croissant was huge, soft, buttery, and flakey. The mimosa was beautifully presented with a rose petal and tasted very lovely. The Benedict was solid though not exceptional. Service was attentive especially considering the small staff. Ambiance (3.5) - the place is quite modern and has classy coffee cafe vibe to it. However, if you are planning to sit longer than an hour, the seats could be uncomfortable after a while. Food - (3/5) *My review is solely based on "Caffe Latte" and "Plain Croissant" I won't recommend the Latte. I had order 8 oz but after a while I couldn't drink more. Oh man this was bad... that 2nd star was because one of your waiters was exceptional I came here with a group of 8 they were the only place to have a table short notice for that many, and we'd been here before with no complaints So yes it's pricy and yes I was aware, we ordered a few items for the table and I kid you not EVEVRY TIME I ASKED HER TO BRING IT OUT she'd simply reply it's coming (it's a cheeseboard 30 min when you're not packed is a little much) she brings out one and I ask about the other she says it'll come. One of my guests asked to see a desert menu and she said and I quote "no, that comes out later" NO!? this very young server blew my mind I was gobsmacked. I managed to grab the attention of someone else who came to our table and expressly tell them I've been waiting for the remainder of our boards that the other waitress again says is coming The wines were coming out in a timely manner but wow everything else was a disaster. We ordered a few plates, I had the quail, the risotto was stuffed inside and as you can imagine not a lot of food quite pricy tasted ok but nothing I'd order again, of course we couldn't order much else because most of their dinner mains were out. Fantastic So the bill comes out and NOW she has time for me, there's a 20% gratuity with out table, makes sense but here's the kicker. Great local cafe chain with a French flair! I have actually not had the chance to eat dinner or lunch here but often will come here for an after dinner dessert pastry with tea or coffee. All the baked/dessert goods were top-notch and haven't had a bad one yet. Staff has always been terrific. It's not the cheapest place for pastry but or dessert, but if you want a classy place to take a date, this place will fit the bill. It pains me to write this but I just cannot justify their price point when the items aren't good. There are two OK things I can say about L'Experience: their service and their chocolate croissant (after you warm it up) is nice. But other than that, there are a solid handful of other bakeries that are just so much better. I bought 3 pastries/desserts (a single eclair, a small blueberry tart, and some other pastry I don't remember) and the total came out to $44! For 3 tiny pastries! I was dumbfounded. The eclair was so dense, the blueberry tart had no flavor, and the other pastry was a combination of the two - dense and lacked flavor. It was terribly disappointing and I really couldn't get over the fact that it was $44. That's $14.60 for each lol. Some people might justify that these are "Bellevue prices" but no -- this is just extreme markup for subpar pastries. I'd strongly recommend Farine, Royal Bakery across the street, or The French Bakery in crossroads. Heck, maybe even Safeway. Update: I received a fun comment from the owner - and despite knocking on my terminology of "French" pastries, the fact remains: insanely overpriced for below subpar tasteless items. One of the best almond croissants in Bellevue if not the BEST! Love this place, both the atmosphere and the food. Had the almond croissant two days in a row . The other highlight was the petite yuzu. Omg, soooo good. I am a sucker for all things yuzu and they did it perfectly. Creamy, not too sweet, very shareable and have a nice touch with thyme and fresh cream. So beautiful to the eyes and taste. I also had the hazelnut croissant (yes, I had a few things here for a couple meals for two days). The hazelnut croissant is a little too rich for me. The chocolate spread (like Nutella) was quite heavy and not spread too evenly. The bite in the middle had almost all the chocolate. It was tasty but I guess too much of goodness can be bad. We also tried the vegetarian quiche to go. It have mushroom feta sun dried tomatoes. I like it but not loved it. Might be best to have it there and I hv mine to go so maybe the way I heat it up didn't bring out the best flavor. Also it was served with some salad so it is just nicer to be served a warm quiche and fresh salad at the bakery vs taking it home. Well that was certainly an experience, from the ultra sleek place, elegant pastries, beautiful desserts and our empty pockets. This bakery is definitely not for the regular folks when you look at the prices, therefore, we did expect perfection in every bite. The almond croissant definitely was the highlight, flaky with nice layers and a good amount of almond cream. The chocolate mousse looked posh, but was underwhelming, it was nothing fancy. At over $10 I certainly was looking to be wowed, which was not the case at all. Macarons are ok, a little dry and crumbly and coffee was good. Update to my previous review- this time round our experience was outstanding! Was there for Brunch and it was crowded. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful. They all walked around with smiles and happy to help attitude. What caught our attention was Kamiya, she was outstanding!! She was pulled in so many different directions and not once she had a frown on her face. Talk about going above and beyond, 3 bees were inside and were buzzing around the window side, where guest were sitting . As you can imagine the fear of bees. She not only concurred her fear of bees but caught all 3 and let them free outside so the customers sitting there could enjoy their brunch! Who does that ??? Great pastries, very flakey and buttery. I did expect them to be warmed up when served for dine in though and they weren't, so it definitely lost a lot of points there. The chocolate croissant ended up being like a nice pastry but with a solid stick of chocolate in it which was very unappealing and distasteful. The savory pastry (i believe it had Tomato and feta or something?) again was very disappointing because the inside of it with the cheese and everything was cold. Came here for my birthday 1/12. Made reservations but there was really no need as the place was dead on a Sunday mid morning. After our experiance i can understand why. Food was ok. We had the beef toast. The bread was delicious but the beef was ok. Undersalted stew on bread is the best way to describe it. Sounded way better on paper. We also ordered the French toast which was tiny for the cost. two small pieces for 18$. Not enough to fill you up. Lastly the service. Our waitress was very nice but not attentive. We had to go to the counter to order additional coffees, pasteries, and even my birthday dessert. Like 4 separate visits to the counter. And the place had two other parties dining there total. Parking: L'Experience Paris is at the SOMA towers so there is actually free parking up to 2 hours in the garage. Experience: Had a really good experience. I showed up around 6PM and was seated immediately (it was also pretty empty). I ended up ordering dessert and a hot chocolate. YUM. One was a Petit Yuzu which was unsurprisingly tasted like lemon meringue and I forgot the other one's name, but it tasted as appealing as it looked. Hot chocolate was also decent! The 12 oz mug came to $4.45. I enjoyed snacking on the desserts and hot chocolate as I did some work. I also liked the projected screen displaying scenes of France. Overall, I'd probably go back for snacks, pastries, and work again. read more

Had the most disappointing experience here. I was really looking forward to some delicious food and good service. I got neither. This was probably the worst service I've ever gotten in a restaurant. The waitress kept forgetting to bring over my friends drink. I finally had to find another person to find our waitress to bring the drink (got it half way through the meal). Then we had ordered pastries with our meal, and they never came. Our meal is done, and I asked where they were and the waitress didn't even remember that we ordered them. We told her what we ordered , and then she brought the wrong items over within probably five minutes. I looked at her and I said no that's not what we ordered and I told her again. I had asked for mine to be heated up and when it came to me it wasn't. I asked her why and she said well we don't suggest they get heated up. But she never told me and the four times that I asked her for what I ordered. Then the food. Eggs Benedict literally had no flavor. Eggs Benedict should have some flavor and it was just plain and so disappointing. To add to it... The meal was so expensive. I will never go back here and would not suggest it to anyone. Then we sat there for another 15 minutes without being served. I told my family we are leaving, so we left. I do not recommend this location and Issaqua is only ten minutes from this location. Highly recommend staying away from here, no parking anyway, and head to another location. Not worth paying for parking and your food. Love the banana croissant they sell. It's usually a variation of banana, a nut, and some chocolate. One of my favorites ever. It's usually pretty dead when I come by, and even then service can be slow. It's a very long pastry case so by the time you get to the resister to order, you're ready and the staff is not. I loved this bakery. I stopped by last week as part of the Yelp event, and ended up picking up other items too. I got a free croissant as part of the Yelp event, which was crisp, flaky and light, all things a croissant should be. Loved it. While there I also wanted to pick up other items and had a hard time deciding. The service was great, he walked me through all the items and helped me make my choices. I picked Savory Kouign-Amman, Grand-mere, and Hot chocolate. I loved every thing I picked, the Savory Kouign-Amman with it's tomato and goat cheese filling, Grand-mere was a bread pudding covered in chocolate and coconut. This is a limited review. I only had take-out pastries. They also have custom cakes (made to order only), coffee selections, weekday sandwiches, weekend brunch, and bread. They currently have outdoor seating, takeout, curbside pickup, and more. Out of the four pieces of pastries, the Kouign Amann is the star. It's a caramelized sugar with crusty bits and visually recognizable beautiful layers. This is a must order. The other three aren't amongst the best I have had. Admittedly, I have had epically excellent pastries, domestically and internationally, so the bar is high. The Almond Croissant paled in comparison to another local favorite, both the crispiness and the almond paste flavor. Ditto for the Almond Banana Croissant; I was further disappointed that the banana was a hunk of banana, too hard, off to one side of the croissant. Lastly, I was really looking forward to the cinnamon sugar cruffin. The outside is a beautiful little tornado/swirled cone. I was expecting the inside to also have the layers I am used to seeing in cruffins, but this one was not. No layers, no distinction. Another ding for this place is the price. It is a fair bit higher than comparable competitors. I would pay the price for the Kouign Amann but not for the other three. read more
