Very disappointing bakery... We came at 7 pm Friday evening to take out few desserts and nobody was paying attention to us. The bakery itself didn't had any prices for the desserts and check-out was in the hallway. VERY WEIRD. I picked from whatever left (which was not much) and few tables were occupied with people drinking wine, I didn't felt French atmosphere and I am telling you this as a european. This not how bakery should feel. I picked 2 desserts -cheesecake and lemon tart ( I guess it looked like it) and I got shocked when I saw $26 for this tiny 2 desserts. Saturday morning when I tried desserts with my morning coffee I was mortified how bad it tasted. Cheesecake tasted like egg white cake, lemon tart? I loved this bakery. I stopped by last week as part of the Yelp event, and ended up picking up other items too. I got a free croissant as part of the Yelp event, which was crisp, flaky and light, all things a croissant should be. Loved it. While there I also wanted to pick up other items and had a hard time deciding. The service was great, he walked me through all the items and helped me make my choices. I picked Savory Kouign-Amman, Grand-mere, and Hot chocolate. I loved every thing I picked, the Savory Kouign-Amman with it's tomato and goat cheese filling, Grand-mere was a bread pudding covered in chocolate and coconut. This is a limited review. I only had take-out pastries. They also have custom cakes (made to order only), coffee selections, weekday sandwiches, weekend brunch, and bread. They currently have outdoor seating, takeout, curbside pickup, and more. Out of the four pieces of pastries, the Kouign Amann is the star. It's a caramelized sugar with crusty bits and visually recognizable beautiful layers. This is a must order. The other three aren't amongst the best I have had. Admittedly, I have had epically excellent pastries, domestically and internationally, so the bar is high. The Almond Croissant paled in comparison to another local favorite, both the crispiness and the almond paste flavor. Ditto for the Almond Banana Croissant; I was further disappointed that the banana was a hunk of banana, too hard, off to one side of the croissant. Lastly, I was really looking forward to the cinnamon sugar cruffin. The outside is a beautiful little tornado/swirled cone. I was expecting the inside to also have the layers I am used to seeing in cruffins, but this one was not. No layers, no distinction. Another ding for this place is the price. It is a fair bit higher than comparable competitors. I would pay the price for the Kouign Amann but not for the other three. read more

This place is just fine if you want to meet with somebody for a cup of coffee, otherwise, I don't think the cost you pay for food there worth it. Overall, we had a nice experience with a cashier, she was very polite and helped us with the menu. The coffee itself was pretty good, we like it. We had some cakes too - overall, not bad. The main good thing was that there was no oversugary aftertaste that you'd usually get in the majority of the cakes you try out. I randomly stumbled upon this place when looking for brunch in Bellevue and it was delicious! It's a smaller brunch menu, however there were dozens of pastry and bakery items to choose from in addition to the menu. I got the Salmon & Avocado eggs Benedict and it was super tasty. It came with potatoes and a fresh salad. The quiche was perfect- not dry at all and the pastries were sooo good! There is very limited seating inside and I think we got lucky getting a table because throughout breakfast I saw some people being turned away. UGH, this is becoming my Sunday funday routine. Go to gym then go to L'Experience Paris where they have the most amazing croissants, breads and other pastries. Plus, there's tea from France and Victrola coffee. Need I say more? I've been a huge of this place, even when it was named La Parisienne. They changed pastry chefs, and thus now we have L'Experience, which really is the Parisienne experience. The owner is actually from France, so you know you're getting the real deal here. Everything is made fresh and is of high-quality. This Bellevue location is in the retail level of Soma Apartments downtown. When I usually come here on Sunday mornings on the road, I usually find a parking spot on the street, right outside of the shop. However, there's an underground garage. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. I mean, I love everything here; you really cannot go wrong. I always end up leaving with a box of pastries and will enjoy them for the next few days. But I guess if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Grand-Mere, a dense pastry with a banana pudding, and a hard shell chocolate rim with chocolate chips and shredded coconut. DEE-VYYNE. As a French person, I can confirm that L'Experience is as authentic as they come. I hate when places use the French name to indicate that they're French when really, they're not. Stopped by L'experience for a croissant today and couldn't resist picking up a few more goodies. Their French pastries are beautiful and so good. The croissant was so buttery and flaky with great lamination. I also purchased a twice baked croissant with chocolate, almond and banana and kouign-amman with goat cheese and tomato. I love their indoor decorations with all the wine on the wall, and they even have mini hand sanitizer on every table for use, so considerate! OK... so this place is not inexpensive ($10 each for the Petit Yuzu and L'Alliance), but it is really good! Both desserts were beautiful to look at. The Yuzu is five dollops of yuzu cremeux, lemon confit, Italian meringue and organic lime caviar (whatever that is). Think super creamy mellow key lime pie. The L'Alliance is a very light cheesecake topped with banana, mango, and passion fruit, atop a chocolate, hazelnut, and coconut Croustillant. I'm more of a croissant guy so I got the banana, chocolate, and almond croissant. This went so well with my Cafe au Lait. My sister-in-law shared that her Americana was the best coffee she has had since arriving in town. On top of this, the cafe in Bellevue had good social distancing and was a nice place to sit and hang - something we have not done much lately. read more

THE START TO A PERFECT DAY... While on a casual walk, to what was a perfect start to my Sunday morning, I decided to stop at L'experience Paris. The restaurant sits on a beautiful corner, the massive windows and the open door is very inviting. Needless to say, L'experience was not friendly or welcoming as you'd think.. I DO NOT PLAN TO VISIT THIS PLACE AGAIN. The quality of goods and services seem to be on the decline to a point that I can no longer deem this place as the go to French spot in the neighborhood. IT STARTS WITH THE GREETING. Never have I walked into a French establishment that I wasn't hit with a bonjour! Especially at a boulangerie. So when I walked into the L'experience I was, at a minimum, expecting a bonjour... Instead I received an emotionless "hi, what can I get you?" I fault myself for having an expectation. AN ACTIVE CUSTOMER TRUMPS A RESERVATION! I ordered a quiche and felt almost like I was being turned away from eating at the restaurant. After informing the woman that I was interested in have the quiche there, I was asked if I had a reservation. The place was practically empty. Why is this even a question when the place is empty? Accommodate active guest and adjust as reservations arrive. Also, it's a bakery, the idea is that it should be quick and easy, not a formal dinner. WHY ARENT YOU STOCKED UP? As I made my way down the nearly empty pastry display bar, I asked if I could have a non-fat Latte with an extra shot. They could not accommodate my request because they did not have cow milk at the moment so I had a milk alternative latte instead. Which by the way, I had to ask not to be charged for since they were out of regular milk. There is a grocery store 2 blocks away, run to the store and stock up. FINALIZING THE SALE. After this 3-5 minute interaction, I'm ready to cash out. At this point I'm ready to just walk out, but I didn't. The order wasn't repeated to me, I didn't hear the cashier say "your total is" the terminal just lit up and I was expected to do my thing. I held my phone over the pay terminal, and that's when the cashier finally spoke up. "Oh! our tap feature isn't working today." I pulled out my card, swiped it and made my way towards the empty bar. THE CHAOS! I sat at the bar and waited for my latte and quiche to arrive. While waiting, I observed the staff quite unorganized, seems like roles aren't really assigned, looks like the instruction is to keep the ship from sinking. You have a person making a latte, and then rushing to load dishes in the washer, and then attending guest coming in. Because the place was not busy, I overheard the staff chatting about lack of resources, menu item shortages, and basically all of the issues going on in the kitchen. THE QUICHE. Always a little cold on the inside and a bit chard, the flavor was spot on. But I feel the size to price ratio is a way off. The quiche needs to be cheaper or maybe a little bigger. FINAL THOUGHTS... Before the pandemic, I visit this place often and was blown away by how friendly the staff was, how cool and down to earth the owner was and how tasty the food was. Seems like they've let this place go. With the competition in the area on the rise, I hope this place gets it together in order to stay relevant and keep the customers they haven't lost yet. The word bonjour is globally recognized, sure you don't need to greet your customers in French, but a greeting in general would be nice. I was merely pointing out that your staff is not communicating or paying attention to whats happening. Maybe your condescending super power can be used to train your staff. Regarding the use of the bar, your staff could have lead with something along the lines of "the bar seating is available for irresponsible patrons who decide to walk into the restaurant without planning." Again, you not having cow milk isn't a problem, the problem is have to pay for a milk alternative when that's the only option. Delicately done pastries with quality ingredients. As I walked in, all the patio doors were open and a very airy feeling to this cafe/restaurant. They were busy and possibly a little short staffed as the chef was helping me check out with my pastries apologizing for not knowing the computer system. I was in no rush and it gave me time to look at all the goodies in the case. They have full cakes available as well as individual pastries. Hubby and I purchased and devoured 2 chocolate croissants. The cappuccino with an extra shot making it three was perfectly done as well. I would love to go back and try the full breakfast and eat on the patio as it looked relaxing. read more

So many delicious pastries, quiches, and desserts to choose from! Not to mention to wonderful smell of coffee throughout. Since I was in the downtown Bellevue area to attend a Yelp Elite event, a little research, showed this tasty bakery moments away, so looking for a little something for a change in breakfast, I wandered down a few 100 yards to this amazing pastry and coffee stop. So many quiches and pastries to choose from?!? Definitely decided, it's gonna take more than one or more, visits to try more of their tasty food and coffee! After a little indecisiveness, I picked a spinach tomato and feta slice of quiche and a Marguerite tart for breakfast the next morning along with coffee. So yummy! The tart was like having a mini pizza ( love pizza for breakfast- confession) fluffy pastry with tart tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes, and cheese. Mmmm! And the Quiche? Lots of flavors bursting out, tomatoes, spinach and yummy tart feta cheese. I know! A little more than a average breakfast, but I couldn't convince myself to save some for later. THE GOOD: The overall design is nice, aside from the uncomfortable metal stools at the high tables. Been surprised to be asked for a reservation (reservation for the bakery is something new to me). But we have been accommodated anyway due to the place being half-empty. Coffee is good, pastries - okay, nothing special but not bad (though, read below there is a catch). Service - nothing out of ordinary. THE BAD: The pastries were cold inside (which implies that they had been in a fridge === not fresh). Eggs Benedict was ok - the same as you'll get in any other place (but likely for 30-40% cheaper than at L'Expirience Paris). In the end, upon checkout - I gave them a 15% tip just out of politeness, definitely for quality/price. Then, later, discovered in the email receipt about "Automatic Gratuity (20%)" had been added to my check + an additional tip was asked upon checkout. In sum - the service/quality and hidden (they could mention, that it automatically been added to my check) - "mandatory gratuity" does not correlate with the intent to get quality food/service and experience for a pretty high price point, to begin with, for the bakery. Had the duck burger with Foie Gras, and wife had the halibut. We also ordered the roasted potatoes. Two glasses of white wine. Dessert was a chocolate/hazelnut eclair. Everything was good, but the dinner items were extremely expensive and small. As an example, while the duck burger was flavorful and well prepared, it was about two inches in diameter and a little less tall. It was supposed to have a slice of foie gras (at $12) but I couldn't find it. This tiny duck burger was $38 and likely the most money per volume of food I have ever paid, and I have been to many fine restaurants around the world, including France. Service is the worst part of this place. Had to stand around for 5+ minutes before being helped. Then they took the order of a group that got there after us first. None of our pastries were heated up even though we asked. The only one heated up was cold on the inside. My chai latte was also lukewarm and disappointing. Just tasted like milk and a bit of cinnamon. They had to re ask what we ordered as the previous waistress messed up. We had to ASK for utensils. No one came to check on us, we had to wave someone over each time. Even though they were free to stand around and talk to each other. When my mom asked to reheat a pastry it took 10 minutes before getting it back. The manager responds unprofessionally and rudely towards negative comments, and they criticize their own customers.
