My boyfriend and I went to the bar @ L'inzio on a Thursday night and had an amazing time. Although we were just there for drinks we truly enjoyed the whole experience. It was clear that the bartender, Michael, really had a passion for the work he does. Every drink that he served had a proud signature of Michael's. He recommended drinks and gave us wine samplings to make sure we were certain about our choices. L'inizio is a very good addition to the area! This is not another Italian American joint. Don't let the spartan decor fool you, the food is rich and delicious. Every thing we had was executed with a light touch. The do not complicate their dishes. The octopus was fresh and cooked perfectly, the sausage had subtle spice, the gnocchi was light and delicious in the duck ragu, and our sea bass and lamb mains were terrific. These pasta dishes are suited as a secondi, as they would be in a proper Italian kitchen. (if you want enough pasta to feed a small village, go to olive garden) I found the prices to be reasonable for what you are getting, and the wine list had enough options across price points. read more

I used to love coming here on my business meetings. They used to have this really great bartender. I believe his name was Billy. He used create cocktails on the spot for me and my colleagues. There was one cocktail that I would always order that eventually made it on the menu. I went in a few times to get that drink again and it was never made quite right after he left. I went to this restaurant for a second visit, having first dined here at the bar. I enjoyed the first visit and wanted to come back with friends. We were seated right away in the rear dining area, which had nice coffered high ceilings. Since it was a busy night, it was very noisy, and having a conversation with our friends was challenging. It was quite a long wait before the waiter, who seemed new and not too sure of himself came to take our drink order. When he returned we ordered our meals and enjoyed our drinks. All of the house special drinks were very good. All of our appetizers including the salads were very good. I had the baked clams which were the best I have ever had. Our entrees were served and all of us were wondering if we were given the appetizer portions by mistake. Two of us had pasta and it was even too small a portion to be served as an appetizer. At our last visit, we ordered only appetizer portions and enjoyed them and left feeling that we actually ate dinner. This time we all left looking for a diner to have dinner! The very small portions and the poor service left a bad taste in our mouths. We just crossed this off our "go to" list. read more

Was so surprised at the beautiful decor and ambiance when I walked in. Such a cozy place with delicious food. I went with a friend and we shared two appetizers from the specials that evening: shisito peppers and a kale Parmesan bean soup, both were 10/10. For my entree I have the chicken scarpariello, great flavor and perfect portion size. I happened to be celebrating my birthday and they brought out a beautiful and delicious plate of this warm chocolate molten cake. Will definitely return! read more

Sensational! Literally! Delicious flavors on everything beginning with the olive oil for your crusty bread to the homemade desserts (be sure to leave room)! You could see our waiter's mouth water as he enthusiastically described the specials. We were sold and ordered a special pasta and beef dish that were indescribably delicious. Just go. This is the fourth time we have been here. The first three times have been good. But this time our lamb shank was cold and the desserts were not good. Extremely noisy. Small servings - big prices. Used to be Giuseppe's, a neighborhood restaurant that understood what a neighborhood restaurant should be and they lasted for years. Then came the Italian Kitchen which didn't even last a year because they thought Ardsley was the Upper East Side of Manhattan. What a wonderful addition to the Westchester dining scene. I am hesitant to post a great review as this place is small and I want to be able to get in whenever I want. Once the secret is out I know that will be a problem. This place has it all. A killer menu that is expertly executed, tasteful comfortable décor with wonderful lighting and nice not too noisy ambiance, a great wine list that was well curated, awesome desserts to end your meal and a wonderful, caring and attentive team of people running and working here. So many places could learn from these guys. I can't wait to go back, I may have to book a table for the weekend now - hope I can get in! read more

Came here after reading all the positive reviews, late on a Saturday night (around 9:30). The place was busy but they were able to seat us in the back - the space is strangely set up but quite a few tables. We ordered the pasta with kale and mushrooms, which was flavorful but everyone agreed the kale was an odd choice for the plate. I got the fish special of the night with corn, mushrooms, and a nectarine vinaigrette. It was delicious!! I get the feeling that the specials are the way to go here although the sides and mains that we were able to try were great as well! read more

The food at L'inizio is awesome! We recently went and I had the branzino - it was perfectly cooked with a nice crispy skin. I've had the chicken and it's really incredible. Hopefully, they bring it back on the menu soon. read more

Little gem of a restaurant! I've been there twice and had great meals both times. From the starters to dessert you won't be disappointed.

The food was great. Definitely have the spiced duck and the Italian doughnuts. The service was a little hit or miss. Our server seemed like he was on drugs but the bus boy was great and really on top of keeping our drinks filled and plates cleared. "heyyyyy" really isn't how you greet a table but it wasn't bad enough to overshadow the food. The back room gets very noisy on a Saturday night so it's not your place if you are looking for a quiet dinner. Glad to have such quality food in the area! read more

WOW!!! My husband and I had dinner here about a month ago and the food is absolutely delicious! The staff were attentive and very courteous. Heather who I believe is the owner's wife was so sweet and the most pleasant person! We started with the homemade pork sausage and the charred octopus. And for the second course, I had a pasta special with arugula and my husband had the duck . We also shared the polenta with smoked pecorino. Then for dessert we shared the Bombolino with coffee panna cotta. EVERYTHING WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! It was probably one of the best meals we've had in a long time. It was a memorable dining experience. The restaurant is small but I always prefer that. The executive chefs Scott and Heather repeatedly come through the tables ensuring all are pleased. Each item on the menu is a creation. I was in heaven from the moment I took the first bite of my appetizer to the last bite of desert. Good food, terrible service - I will not return. The waitress started off the night by bringing the wrong bottle of wine and beer to the table (the bottle of wine was more than double the cost of the bottle I ordered). At the end of the meal the waitress left the bill on the table while we were still eating our dessert and still had full glasses of wine on the table. While I understand the need to turn over tables quickly on a Saturday night at small restaurants I believe the restaurant should plan reservations at least 2 hours apart - we were seated for less than1 1/2 hours before it was clear that they were looking to turn over the table. While the food was good, I will not return as there are too many other restaurants in this area that understand how to provide quality service and great food. read more

This is a pretty good Italian place, nice serving size and atmosphere and really good food, some of it seasonal. However, the service leaves something to be desired, as the waitress was aggressive and grumpy. She confirmed that she had called a taxi, but when we asked her where it was, she told us that she had never ordered one. read more

Service was very strange...the waiter was nice but very abrupt We waited for our drinks forever but the waiter didn't charge us because of the long wait so that was very nice. Snotty, condescending waitress. She was appalled that we asked if there was anything other than pasta that my friend's little girl could have (i.e., chicken fingers). She looked disgusted and said "Oh, no, no, no, no, this is not that kind of restaurant" while looking down her nose at us. She felt the need to "school" us on what it meant to eat at a "fine dining" restaurant (really? what nerve!). She required help from another waiter (who was very nice, by the way) to explain some of the dishes and how they were prepared, leading me to believe she was new (or incompetent). The food was very good, but unfortunately, it did not take the bad taste out of our mouths left by the waitress. She acted like we were at the Four Seasons and my friend and I walked in chomping gum and wearing gym clothes. Will not return as we were not made to feel welcome. read more
