And this says a lot because I have virgin hair lol. My friend was with me and she's never learned that much from an employee. My friend was with me and has experienced other employees but nobody has helped her like Leslie did. If I could give a zero, this location would get it. I have experienced poor customer service in the past, but OMG, nothing surpass the last visit to this store! The employee who serviced me that day was not only rude, but she also showed me just how much she enjoys her job. Who argues with their customers and tell the customers they are causing an "inconvenience" to them? I have a feeling she may be the manager there? I'm hoping that's not the case, b/c if it is. I'd been looking for hair care products for a while and visited this store . The staff is super friendly. They recommended products based on the hair conditions I had and what are the store offers . Their customer service was so genuine and friendly. They have great deals going 4 for 20 $ on for some hair products . Must buy ! Super happy with the purchase so far . Also the other day I had an online order that was completely messed up . They are very prompt in providing solutions and fixing the problem. This Sally's is the closest one to my house but it isn't the best. It is a tiny store & customer service is nonexistent. When I first came in I didn't even realize there was a worker because she was in the back. However, the store is really well organized & it isn't difficult at all to find what you're looking for. Oh lord... Such a small store in a busy parking lot. The employees are honestly awful. Super rude and snarky, unhelpful. I had a hair emergency. Too much blond is not a good thing. Day one of a new style and color, fine. Day two, I started freaking out. I didn't feel like myself and with a new light color and my fair skin, I started to feel very washed out. Urgent visit for hair color. One lady was super nice and really wanted to know what color my hair used to be. She offered suggestions as to ease of application and safety of use. While deciding another lady came over and snapped at us. She wanted us out, quickly. She needs to understand that hair color is not something most people know how to use. I didn't like getting snapped at. Okay, she didn't want to discuss or help. There was no one else in the store. Why not give some advice? I was so intimidated, we grabbed two products and scurried to the cash register. Luckily, it was the nice lady. She really picked out two beautiful colors for me to try. I was assisted promptly and needed three items for color change. I had several questions and needed guidance on what to use. I was provided education on the difference between powder and cream bleach, developer volumes and brand choices. I was then asked if I needed any more help or had any more questions, ran- up/checked-out and given a receipt with a smile all by 8:02PM! I'm not quite sure where my experience falls on this rating scale. A four seems slightly too high and a three is way too low. I came in simply because Sally is closer to us than Peninsula. I wanted barrel hair curlers and ended up purchasing a set (on advice after I flagged down an associate) but they didn't have my main need, Bumble and Bumble shampoo. This location is well stocked, but I feel like it's on the cheaper side of quality and their shampoo section is woefully small. Additionally, their OPI pricing is the same as Peninsula, but beyond the fact that they're closer I'd probably head their over Sally, simply because I like the location (it's bright and airy) and the service more. read more

I came in here frantic after having my hair done and HATING the end results. The amount of bleach the hair stylist used left me looking blonde when I never asked for that! I knew I needed to throw some hair dye over it and try to leave that $400 nightmare behind me! Immediately I was greeted by the kind girl working the cash register. I told her my problems and she helped me find the toner and hair dye that would cover up my botched hair. She was super helpful and knowledgeable and was able to give me detailed instructions on how to mix the toner and dye and how long to leave it on etc. I walked out with the solution and a hair mask treatment to repair my hair. A friend of mine who worked for a day spa in San Francisco gave me a tip that a lot of estheticians use the Queen Helene mint juleep mask for facials. I was ecstatic when I found the mint juleep mask, and many items from Queen Helene at this Sally's location! The store is well stocked, clean, and the employees are friendly. The only thing that I don't love about this store is the lack of product knowledge from the employees. This is a great store to shop at if you already know more or less what you are looking for and just need to be directed to the item that you are seeking. read more

Fast n friendly staff around the store but when it comes to the cashier not so friendly. When I got to the register and I was browsing through the items they had at the register for sale, I asked the cashier if a specific brand made heat protectant spray. She said yes and she pointed to where I could get it. I went to grab it real quick and when I got back to the register I noticed that it was a "smoothing lotion" but nowhere in the bottle did it say that it was "heat protectant" or anything along the lines for heat. It was just to smooth and control frizz. To make the long story short she was very rude and her explanation was that "everybody" used it as a heat protectant even though it didn't say on the bottle... hmmm... yeah, I don't think so. lol I just bought what I needed and walked out. SOME of the sales associates here don't really seem to care about customer service. It takes them forever to acknowledge my presence in the store. I'm not asking for much; just for someone to greet and ask if I need any help. I came looking for extensions and had to wave one girl down even though she saw me looking at the hair for about 10 minutes! She walked right by without saying anything. I had to stop her to ask if she could help me choose a color. Her response? "I can't help you with that, sorry." She didn't even explain why or anything. Another girl came and was the total opposite. I've been to Sally's before, but particularly liked this location for several reasons. 1) As some other Yelpers have mentioned, the staff are extremely helpful. I slipped in 15 minutes before close and was greeted by both employees on shift who promptly asked if I needed assistance finding anything. After telling them what I was looking for, one of them found exactly what I wanted and even advised me on color choice. She wasn't annoying, just very attentive. 2) Its location is super convenient. After spending about 15 minutes in Sally's I could dash off to Target and Cost Plus World Market to run other errands. 3) The prices are really reasonable. I bought five items for about $30. Not bad at all. Would definitely recommend. read more

It can be really difficult to get someone to take your money here. Like Monica F, I've walked in several times to a seemingly deserted store, only to have someone bellow a lukewarm greeting from the back corner without bothering to approach me. I've then had to go back and fetch someone when I wanted to make a purchase. I wonder how many customers shoplift out of desperation/frustration here? I've certainly been tempted to holler "I'm leaving with my paraffin, bye!!" as I sail out the door - since we're limiting our interaction to shouts from the far corners and all. Last time I was there, as a refreshing change there were three (3!) employees behind the counter....and there was STILL a line because while one was languidly ringing up customers, another was completely engrossed in her loud cell phone conversation, and the third wanted the one ringing up customers to stop periodically to review forms, sign papers, etc. (clearly, this was Important Stuff that Could Not Wait for such trifles as paying customers!) There are better places nearby that make it easier to fork over cash for goods. read more

The majority of the time I've come to this location I've been greeted with kindness. My boyfriend and I came in here after work looking for Manic Panic in Raven. Which, Sallys always has an abundance of colors to choose from. They never keep their colors for that brand on the shelf so you always have to ask a sales associate. I asked and they said, no because ALL Sallys have discontinued that color. So, I went to the front to speak with the cashier, who by the way was a very large rude Mexican woman. She said, yeah. We don't carry it in any of the locations anymore. Thats fine, but as we're walking out she rudely adds "Maybe you should check Hot Topic." Me being me, checked the Sallys website and it says Raven is in fact in stock and sold in stores. So I called the Santa Clara location. And guess what, they had it. Unless you know exactly what you're looking for, don't bother coming to this location. They're rude, and none of them know what they're talking about. read more

There is an EXTREMELY helpful, knowledgeable, and cheerful young African-American lady (I didn't catch her name!) here who just makes shopping at this cramped store such an enjoyable and stress-free experience. Lady needs a raise. Whether it's nail products or hair bleach, every time I come into this store this employee greets me at the door, asks me if I need help, knows EXACTLY how to help me if I do need help, and really is the only reason (aside from the products) why I keep coming back to this Sally Beauty Supply. I walked out of the store with great products at a fair price and had this most pleasant and helpful employee guide me in the right direction. I immediately went home, followed her instructions to the tee using the products she recommended, and got outstanding results. I'll never use CVS bleach again! 5 stars for carrying china glaze nailpolish- the awesomest, unchip-eable, and long lasting variety of colors out there. -1 for the virtually nonexistent service. sally's is conveniently located in coleman plaza, so after you decide to forego the nailpolish section at target, you can just meander your way over to sally beauty supply. it's a much cheaper alternative than getting a pro to do your mani/pedi! read more
