Delicious Poke. I had 1/4 lb. Each of the limu poke and Spicy ahi poke. My wife ordered a poke bowl. Her bowl had ahi and Crab salad. My wife went in while I double parked. She said the service was great as they joked around with her while making her order. Inside was clean and there was a bench to sit while waiting. Will be back. Enjoy

This place was on my husband's radar so after our errands going on home we stopped to get poke lunch. I walked in and the staff was so friendly and helpful. I ordered the poke bowl 1 choice with sushi rice hawn limu poke. I also ordered 1/4lb of spicy ahi and 1/4lb hawn poke for husband. Came home and he devoured hes poke was very good. My poke bowl was heavy and was good. Lots of fish with 1 scoop imitation crab. The sushi rice was a mild taste but good as well. Will be back husband said. Also signed up with phone number so every time you go and order you rack up points. Also they have a giveaway when you order a poke bowl you get your name and phone number entry for a free poke bowl for a year if your name is picked.

I've bought fish from them before but never had the poke. Was in the area and brought a coworker to try it. We were immediately greeted. Ordered a couple poke bowls and was offered samples of the smoked marlin dip. The dip was awesome! Ordered some of the dip and was given a pack of crackers! Great service! Overall the poke bowls were good and the portion size matched the price. Next time I'd probably ask for no toppings as I like a classic poke bowl without all the frills. But the fish was fresh and the flavors were good!

Buggahz iz meeean!! Freshness, service, and pristine condition of da shop is why I'll be returning again and again. Tita made it effortless when she assisted with placing an order. First time ordering a "Bakubomb" platter (sorry no pics) for Mother's Day, the attention to detail was next level and fresh art work you wouldn't wanna eat, My most recent order was a 9" Chef's choice sushi cake... "Baahraaah!!" I dunno of any other poke shops on island dat makes sushi cakes, La'akea's is da G.O.A.T.!! Kalo candy, sashimi trays, ahi slabs, omakase poke (ahi, unagi, uni, ikura) are some other goodies can find.

This is a must try. Their fish is top quality and fresh. Located right off Nimitz Highway on Kanakanui St. in Kalihi. You can get Poke, sushi, all grades of slabs of Ahi(Bigeye, Yellowfin, Buefin), Mahi Mahi, Hamachi, Tobiko, Ikura and much more. Their prices can't be beat. They supply fish to many restaurants around town and on other islands. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed. Alooooooha and Happy eating.

A coworker introduced me to La'akea a while ago, and I've been hooked ever since. I've been stopping by at least twice a week, and they've never disappointed me. From my very first visit, the staff made me feel welcome, and that level of service has stayed consistent every time I've come back. Everyone there is friendly and genuinely seems to care about their customers. On one visit, I ordered a sampler that normally comes with four selections, and they surprised me with a couple extra pieces. Another time, one of the employees gave me a sushi roll to try on my way out. It ended up being delicious. Small gestures like that are what keep me coming back. The shop is always clean, organized, and well stocked, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and freshness you're getting. The fish is always fresh, and the selection is incredible. Some of my favorites are the Spicy Avocado, Omakase, House Crab Salad, and Lomi Spicy. Honestly, I haven't had anything here that I wouldn't order again. Their poke nachos are loaded with toppings and flavor, and I love that you can build your meal with rice, greens, or nachos and choose whichever poke you want. They also offer sampler trays, which are a great way to try different flavors. The crab samplers and lomi samplers are especially good. On top of that, they have delicious sushi and fresh fish available by the pound. The fish market prices change with the market, but the quality is always top notch. They even have a rewards program, which is a nice bonus for regular customers. Another reason I stop by is they have Kalo Candy, which they carry on Thursdays. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend it. Even if this place wasn't conveniently located near my work, I'd gladly drive out of my way to come here. If you're looking for fresh poke, quality seafood, great service, and plenty of options, La'akea is an easy 5 star recommendation. They truly serve their food with aloha. Mahalo to the entire team at La'akea for always making every visit a great one.

I was craving Poke and googled for a place close to my job,(I'd usually go to Alicia's but wanted to try something different) seen La'akea Fish and Co so I wanted to try it for the first time. Parking is a little bit scarce but Very much worth it. Very Friendly welcoming and Poke was ONO! Great flavors. I got their Crunchy Garlic Taegu and Spicy Avocado. If you're craving Poke bowls and are in the Kalihi area, this is a MUST. Guaranteed, you'll be back

And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed. Thank you, Tamashiro, for providing quality food and memories for so many years. You were more than a market--you were part of my childhood

It's just extremely congested and sometimes too busy inside. Cleanliness can be an issue for some but for the most part I'm buying vegetables and fruit and that's enough for me. I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. We looked at Costco (they had but they were already cleaned and all the good stuff was discarded), Richard's Meat Market and a few stalls in Chinatown. Fortunately I remembered this place and we walked there. Sure enough, they had tanks of live Dungeness crab. Customer service was friendly but a little slow. We were the only customers inside when we arrived but couldn't decide on how many to buy. In a blink of an eye, the place was packed and it took awhile to make our purchase. When we were finally helped again, we purchased two live Dungeness crabs. She gave us two huge ones! Cleaning was offered but my dad said it'll taste better to keep them alive till we're about to eat them. We politely declined the cleaning and paid. Bring cash! I was going to pay by credit card but they said cash. They probably don't want to pay processing fees. The crabs were still moving around on the way home and up till the moment we cleaned them. Seeing the crab cleaning in real life vs YouTube is totally different! It was a quick steam and we had our dinner ready. Don't worry, we also picked up take out from Thai Issan to accompany the crab. Mink made some homemade Thai seafood sauce. It was the perfect compliment to the plump and sweet crab meat. Yes, she made something in the kitchen! Thank social media or YouTube! Great discovery in Chinatown and we'll be back the next time we're in the mood for fresh seafood.
