    Hawaiian Salt - Half Pound
    Rachelle C.

We will always make sure to stop by Poke by The Pound whenever we're in Oahu! A small restaurant but I am always so appreciative of this humble family run business. Prices are a little expensive but their flavors are unmatched! The service staff are very kind and attentive- even when the are busy helping all their customers. They are always happy to make a fresh batch of poke if they run out. Our top two favorites are Garlic Shoyu (lots of garlic) and Hawaiian Salt! SO MUCH FLAVOR! I can truly eat a pound of each in 1 sitting. The portions are generous and so so fresh!

Poke is soooo good and tasty. Fresh and different flavors to choose from. Service is friendly and knowledgeable of the ingredients. They are ready to make more poké as needed.

Hot dishes made to order. Tasted great but portion was a bit light for the price. Poké is decent. One man operation when I showed up for early lunch. Wasn't bad but fell short of social media hype.

This cute shop is conveniently located on a corner with some parking spaces on the side. I know they have limited seatings inside, but this place always looks clean. We love their poke! So fresh and yummy. We get two choices with extra garlic. The staff are friendly and quick! When we crave for fresh fish, we always come here.

Great quality poke served quick and easy. They're located on the corner of Nimitz and Kahi Street and are very attentive. The service is friendly and their fish is extremely fresh. They have a simple menu with just four or five types of poke and a few hot plates that they can make with the fresh fish. Something new that they recently added is karaoke.

First off parking can be difficult so maybe if you can, have someone go with you so one person can go in while the other drives around. I went on a holiday so I was able to find street parking. I got a poke bowl which comes with your choice of two types of poke and sushi rice. The sushi rice is lightly flavored so don't worry about it being too vinegary, it is lightly flavored in taste and a little sweet. That is the theme with the flavors being there but not overpowering. I got the spicy ahi and garlic poke. The spicy ahi was not that spicy with just a little heat. The garlic ahi poke had a flavorful mix of sweet, salty, and garlic flavors. Nice balance of flavors without overtaking the taste of the fish. The ahi was fresh, not frozen and you pay for that. The price is on the higher side but good quality. I do not recall seeing any seating so it is a grab and go place. Services was fast and friendly.

Still my favorite spot to pick up poke and they now offer more comfy seating to enjoy your poke fresh. The owner is always super friendly and happy to serve his customers. He just gives off such a positive vibe. Other than my top pick, garlic crunch poke, we decided to try their special of the week, smoked meat. Meat was soft, juicy and not plenty fat which I enjoyed. The flavor had just the right amount of smoke and feel like they gave a lot! I will continue to support this local business!

Expensive but OH SO GOOD. This place is the definition of "hole in the wall". Heck even parking was difficult to find! The lady that served us was very helpful, though. Now, the poke was AMAZING. Appearently it's fresh, never frozen, and that makes a big difference! We tried a couple of different types and they threw in some rice for us as well. I recommend getting some of their kimchi to mix in with your poke.

What the heck was that about? I had to order online so I can get my food and enjoy eating it during my lunch break. I arrived and my food isn't even ready! The website says it'll be ready by 10:58AM....its 11:37PM! I should've gotten my online food 37 minutes earlier! What's the point of ordering online????

I cannot believe this was over $20. Poke plopped on top tortilla chips, disappointed.

They sell poke bowls and pan fried fish plates. We just ordered two of their poke bowls. Their poke bowls are $17.95 and you get to choose two different flavors. They also have sushi rice. We settled on one bowl with garlic ahi poke and spicy & limu ahi poke. The second bowl we chose spicy ahi and spicy & limu ahi poke. Both bowls contained sushi rice. Their fish was fresh. It was smooth and firm. Out of the three flavors that we tried, the spicy & limu was my favorite. They had condiments on the side that you can put on yourself. I used the furikaki and garlic chips. The bowl was a good size and filled me up.

Poke by the pound was recommended by a local friend as an alternative since kbaybros was closed on Mondays. There is limited parking along Nimitz but luckily found a temp spot while we grabbed food. We arrived a little after 1 and looked like the lunch crowd pretty much cleaned house. The guy behind the counter looked like he hated life and seemed a bit reluctant to take our order. We ended up ordering a poke bowl since I didn't want to commit to ordering a ton of poke as it was our first try. The poke itself was good but damn there wasn't much of it in the bowl (see pic). At $18 a bowl, it was a bit steep but it did satisfy our craving. Not sure if we'd come back as there are a ton of poke shops who actually welcome patrons.

They occasionally offer salmon as well! Obviously the dining ambiance is prolly the downside as it's a simple outdoor patio in front of the venue, but hey it does the job! It had great flavor without overpowering the freshness of the fish. - The wasabi ahi was also good, but be prepared for a strong wasabi kick that definitely clears your sinuses. - I also tried the Hawaiian ahi, which was a little too mild for my taste. - The miso tako ended up being my least favorite because it leaned much sweeter than I expected. Next time I'd probably go with the shoyu instead since I was looking for a bit more flavor. One thing they absolutely get right is the fish itself. It's incredibly fresh, buttery, and almost melt in your mouth tender. Compared to other well-known poke spots, I actually preferred the quality and flavor of the fish here. The only reason I'm taking off one star is the rice. They use regular jasmine rice, and I really think sushi rice would make a huge difference. Since poke is essentially fish and rice, the rice should complement the fish instead of feeling like an afterthought. Service was quick and straightforward. You tell them what you want, they build your bowl, you pay, and you're on your way. The shop itself is very small with no indoor seating, just a couple of outdoor tables, so I'd consider this more of a grab-and-go spot than a place to dine in. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the freshness of the fish alone. With sushi rice, this place would be even better.

I just wished there was a bit more white onion for crunch, but it was good regardless. The Fish and Chips were really good. The fish was super crispy, the meat was firm, and the fries were nicely fried. The tartar sauce or maybe more of a lemony aioli, was the star. It wasn't your usual tartar sauce; it had a homemade lemony sweetness that made it delicious. My only complaint was that the batter came off the fish pretty easily, which made it a bit tricky to eat at times.
