Yesterday, Monday afternoon - evening I want to share my experience with a restaurant that, in my opinion, used to be the best in Apopka: Lechonera Latina. I have to ask, where is the so-called manager who claims to be in charge of the restaurant? Doesn't he see how bad the food has become? In the past, after getting off work, I would often stop here because I have to go to Mount Dora and don't have much time to eat. I always enjoyed coming here. Now, I can barely enjoy my favorite chicharrones. Sometimes they are completely burned, and other times they are not crispy at all. The roasted chicken is also burned on some occasions, while other times it looks yellow and poorly prepared. The mofongo? At 4:00 in the afternoon, I'm told they can no longer make it. Then why even have it on the menu? And don't even get me started on the fish--it has very little flavor and is often burned as well. What is going on in the kitchen? "What is going on in the kitchen? The quality and consistency of the food have changed dramatical The only good thing that remains is the way the women treat the customers. Their kindness and good service are honestly the only decent thing left about this place. That is why I still leave a tip--to show my appreciation for the attention and courtesy they give me. To the owners of Lechonera Latina: if you don't start hiring qualified cooks like the ones you had two years ago, you are going to lose customers to the other restaurants in the area. The bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich was huge and only $6. It was good but not great. The bread was mid and I had trouble finding any cheese. I would give it a 7.9 out of 10. The cafe con leche was also good but not great. Great deal for $1. 8.5 out of 10. The buffet was being set up and looks amazing. I want to come back for lunch sometime! I didn't see any menus so I don't know how much the buffet is or what all the dishes are. read more

(I'm a Yankee who only eats eggs and protein for breakfast) And they had a lot. I ordered a breakfast burrito and got something I wasn't expecting. But it was tasty. Hands down the best meal deal around, especially in this economy. My family calls it white box dinner as you get a huge white takeout box LOADED with your meat of choice, rice beans and side. Each box is easily enough for two meals even for my hungry adult sons and husband. I was hesitant to go at first as I don't speak Spanish and while the language is a challenge the staff is friendly and ok with me pointing and using my poor Spanish skills. read more

Best Latin food in Apopka! Always hot and freshly made. I love the variety, the cafeteria style always has me eating with my eyes, I get a little of everything each time I'm come here. It's all delicious! They also have Latin deserts that are phenomenal! The staff is friendly and doesn't make it awkward when trying to order in English. Because The ladies mostly speak just Spanish. This place is great when you're on the go or just very hungry and don't want to wait at a restaurant. They always have food ready so many different types of rice! Different types of protein. They also have empanadas with different filling and desserts like flan and tres leches. This place could really use a bigger seating area but other than that I think it's great! read more

Very much enjoyed this place! I had the rice, pinto beans and pernil and it tasted just like home. We made it in just before their lunch rush but the cafeteria style set up made for quick service for everyone. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was constantly moving around and making sure everything was in order. read more

Great place for catering for large family events or parties! You can place your order with short notice and it will be ready for pick up. (The restaurant doesn't offer deliveries for catering). Large portions were given and the taste is soooooo yummy!! The arroz con guandules and pulled pork were favorites at our event! Staff is majority Spanish speaking. read more

This is a cafeteria style serving location, with delicious food. For under $9 you get a large portion of rice, a selection of meat, and plantains or yuca. There are several different rice styles from: white, yellow, rice and peas, and rice with meat. Several selections of meat, and additional sides to choose from as well. The ropa vieja is delicious and always moist. My only complaint is that there isn't someone who speaks English or just isn't willing to let you know all the options. There also isn't a set menu with prices. Just a screen that rotates. I would love to try some additional items but don't know what some are or if I can mix and match items. I believe you have to order mofongo separately but they just tell me there isn't any the few times I've tried. read more

Great food for a good price. I didn't want to cook but I wanted a home cooked meal. I got a folding tray full of goodness. I was able to have dinner and take the rest to work for lunch the next day. The food was delicious and tasted fresh. The taste is just so delicious and Service is wonderful.

This is premade food. Lots of it. I got here when they first opened. So much variety and because it's Puerto Rican, the typical Latin foods are ready to be served. I had the arroz con gandules along with pasteles and guava pastries. I've been to other Latin places in this style, but this is the most upscale I have ever seen. They run a tight ship. Very efficient. It goes without saying the taste of the food is outstanding considering it is all cafeteria style. Portions are generous. Too bad I don't live in the area, otherwise I'd be eating there all the time. The place itself looks very clean although you can eat there, I was under time constraints so I had to leave. Cold shoulder, no acknowledgement, no communication, in the pick up line for delievery and not busy either. 10am on a Tuesday and after 11 minutes I left. Called UE for my arrival compensation. This place is amazing. They offer something a lot of food places don't offer nowadays. They have amazing prices and you get so much food. Not only that, but the food here is delicious and they have so much to offer. You can tell all the food is being made fresh in the kitchen which you have access to look at while ordering. My husband and I usually split an order here. You can choose from about 5 different types of rice and many other options including chicken, pork, beef and even seafood. They even offer a wide variety of bottled drinks and lots of desserts to choose from as well including flan, tres leches cake, quesitos, and more. The best local restaurant with a wide variety of food options. From five styles of rice to many variations of beef and chicken. The staff is very friendly and busy here. You can ether eat in or take out! This is a buffet restaurant that you pick what you want and the staff will place on styrofoam containers. Folks, they pack a lot of food for you. First time I've tried this place because a Latina friend recommended it. My first comment is the place is clean. There's good selection of food. Ny negative comment is there's no labels on each item. I'm not hispanic so I don't exactly know what they are or what's in it. So I tried to guess since hispanic & Filipino dish are similar! So the girl couldn't speak English well I had to guess & just point the food that I want!! Also, there's no prices on the glass case. I didn't have time to look at the monitor in front of me!! Warning: NEVER order through uber or doordash for delivery. All the lechonera's take the uncooked, no good food from the back of the kitchen to serve deliveries. I wish they would serve the food from the buffet. I've ordered delivery atleast 5 times and not once was it good. Sauce would smell and taste like dirty dish water.
