I came here for lunch on a Sunday with my family and we love this place. We ordered a few different things from their menu and everything was delicious. Their falafel was flaky and not dry at all. Their chicken and lamb were seasoned very well and came out very tender and juicy. Their hummus is made so fresh and that their lentil soup is the perfect appetizer. I think my favorite is their pita. It comes out fluffy and warm and so delicious with their soup and hummus. read more

The newest place in my rotation, Fasil has apparently been in town for awhile but it's far enough from downtown that I never discovered it until... I don't even know! Maybe a timely FB post. But finally, I have been introduced to Mediterranean without having to travel. Going in, my favorite reasonably local place was Elmas in Parsippany. A high standard to meet. Let's see how they did. First: They just remodeled in mid-October. I asked, and it was new ceiling, lights, power-wash - the place is elegant. Upscale dining at a reasonable price. Second: the only downside I experienced, they were out of the smoked eggplant I was looking forward to as an appetizer. Finally, all of the positives: * The ezme is an excellent spicy pepper for the excellent soft warm pitas they bring out. It arrived promptly. After squeezing the lemon slices into my water, I wiped the plate clean with the bread. So thoroughly, in fact, that they brought us a second plate! With more bread! (I will quietly note that our table was a little off balance, held by a piece of cardboard I accidentally discovered contained instructions for reheating pitas. I have no way to know if that means the pitas are not fresh made, or if the cardboard comes from elsewhere, or if they make the pitas locally and ship it in the morning. So I can't downvote.) * We split a meat platter for two. I highly recommend that so you can get a taste of the various kebabs on offer. The shaved meat is beyond reproach, perfectly seasoned and a generous quantity with the rice pilaf. Lamb is delicious. Chicken is delicious. Beef was a little overcooked - not quite a downside, IMO. * At the end of the meal, I'm told that spontaneously we were handed a rice pudding to see us off on our first visit. It is deep, rich, large portion, subtle flavors within. All delicious food. Not cheap, not expensive, but you absolutely get more than what you pay for at Fasil. It now replaces Elmas as my go-to Turkish/Mediterranean. read more

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here with my wife on Thursday, very good experience. Food: Started off with the fried calamari because the pictures looked fantastic. The calamari was outstanding and a different type of crispy than I normally have. I ended up getting the chicken Adana and my wife got the chicken kofte we are both very satisfied with the meal. The style in which they serve the kebab not a way that I normally had before, but was certainly unique. We stopped into to this awesome restaurant on a whim. We couldn't be happier that we found it. Amar was happy to accommodate us, and stopped over to see how we were enjoying everything. The service was great and the food wonderful. Chicken breast kabobs were tender and juicy, and the falafel was really delicious. Sheppard salad was perfectly dressed and so fresh. I really wanted to like this place and high hopes based on the reviews here, but it was such a disappointment. My wife and I came here around 5pm and the place was mostly empty. They still questioned if we had a reservation and when we didn't, they stuck us at a table in the back. Entire experience was meh at best. Average quality food combined with extremely high price and average to below average service. Felt they mostly avoided us the entire time we were there, and ended up messing up our order. Didn't offer to make it right so we just let it go. To top it off, their card machine wasn't working so we were stuck waiting an extra half hour for them to fix it, which ended up making us late for our next event. I'd pass on this place, there are better Turkish spots in the area more worth your money. read more

It was such a nice warm day, so we opted to sit outside. There was plenty of seating outside! Throughout our meal we felt that the service was a bit lacking because our waiter didn't come by once to refill our water or ask how our meal was. Our waiter seemed a bit busy since he was the only waiter outside. For the most part, we asked him for anything as we saw him hurriedly pass by our table. All the foods: Everything was delicious, although a bit pricey compared to other similar Mediterranean restaurants I've been too. - cold appetizers: really enjoyed scooping a bit of each spread on to the warm pita. Ezme with some hummus is a perfect match! Although we only got 2 stuffed grape leaves with our order, they were so good that I'd order a full version of them next time - Mixed Grill: heaping portion of 6 of their grilled meat items. I think the plate would be just perfect to share among 3 people. My favorite was the lamb shish kebab. The rice and salad complimented the meats well - Yogurt chicken kebab: perfectly grilled chicken! The pita under the chicken tasted a bit soggy. Not sure if they are supposed to be like that. Had lunch here with my daughter. Everything was very fresh and not loaded with unnecessary oil. We enjoyed the hummus appetizer. It was seasoned perfectly. This was the second time trying this place. The first time was undercooked shrimp skewers when it opened long ago. It had just opened, so I thought maybe they just needed time. Many years later, another bad experience! I ordered the lamb. It was 30.00, and what a disappointment! It was these tough little medallions of lamb, and pieces of pita bread cut up in gravy. That was literally IT besides some semi raw pieces of peppers. WHY did they serve pita bread pieces in the meal (SO WEIRD) in the gravy, when they give you pita bread with the meal? it was terrible. Since we love Mediterranean food we decided to pick a new place to try. After reading menu we decided on Fasil. It's a corner location in a busy strip mall with outdoor seating weather permitting. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our server was friendly and informative. He answered all of our questions and helped us with our choices. We started with the fried liver and the stuffed grape leaves. Both were delicious. The fried liver was tender and has an amazing light taste to it. The grape leaves were also very tender and had lots of flavor. The mint really stood out. The mixed grill is the way to go to sample many offerings. It was cooked perfectly and included an onion salad. Prices were reasonable for most things on the menu with the exception of a few. $10.00 for a dish of plain vanilla ice cream is way over priced. This is a cute restaurant that is priced well. My two sisters and I went on a Saturday night to break our fast and reserved a table online. We originally reserved a table for 6, but change it to 3 a few hours before the reservation. When we got there, they didn't have the updated number of guests but they still seated us immediately. The food tasted great and was fairly priced. I'm knocking off a star because the servers have great intentions, but didn't really deliver. They asked us if we were fasting right when we walked in and gave us dates which is very sweet and considerate as eating dates is the proper way to break your fast. They then asked for our appetizers and asked if we'd like the food to come out after the fast opened or before. We said before. While this is all great, they didn't follow-through: The dates were very hard and the appetizers didn't come out until 10 minutes after fast opened and we had to ask the waiter twice what was taking so long; in total the appetizers came out 30 minutes after we ordered them. We ended up breaking our fast with water, which is not ideal. This was a theme, as our dessert and bill took 20+ min each. The restaurant was about half-full. There was also a birthday going on and they turned the speakers on to play "Happy Birthday to you"...but the speakers were really close to our table and the volume was WAY too loud. I had a ringing in my ears for a while, even after they turned the volume down. I'm not opposed to coming back for take out if I'm in the area. The staff is very culturally competent and friendly, but can be more efficient. read more

I was super disappointed with this place. I wonder how people have hyped this restaurant. The price is super expensive for that quantity and quality. We ordered the so raved hummus and to me it was just ok, nothing to rave about. The dish what came in was a small plate, just a single serving for about four adults. If you're a vegetarian and gluten free make sure you call them before hand. Off lately my husband is gluten free and vegetarian, he had limited options for dinner here. Almost every meal has meat and is not gluten free. Luckily the server brought him a basket of gluten free bread to eat with hummus. And the falafel kebab plate is not completely gluten free either. They add orzo to their rice which is not gluten free so he just ordered the falafel and got roasted eggplants and added a salad. So his meal was kinda super expensive. Kids got fries and shared my chicken kebab. The yogurt chicken was soft however lacked seasonings, which ended up being bland. Overall an expensive meal for not so hyped food! read more

I was really excited to try this place after reading all the rave reviews but left disappointed after our meal. They start you out with complimentary pita and butter. The pita was hard as a rock, was difficult to chew and continued to harden throughout our meal. It tasted like it was previously frozen. Our zucchini appetizer came out very chilled; while it's considered a "cold appetizer", it was too cold, almost as though it had been sitting in the fridge. The taste was pretty bland. We also had the hummus which was delicious- it was probably the best part of the meal. For entrees we tried the Adana kebab and the kofte and shish combo. Both were just ok- the meat was not very tender but was reasonably well-seasoned. Definitely nothing to write home about. The yogurt sauce they give on the side was tasty. The service was a bit inattentive and slow even though the restaurant was half full, if that. The ambiance is nice, it'd make a nice spot for a date night or for a group outing. We ordered 3 orders of the "For Four" dinner packages for 12 people, and boy can I tell you that platter can definitely feed more than 4 mouths. Overall, food was EXCELLENT! The meat was juicy, tender, and the rice was super tasty. I loved having a mixture of different meats (chicken and lamb) in the platter. With the platter came a selection of 4 cold appetizers - we ordered the hummus, eggplant sauce (my favorite), baba ganoush, and cacik (my second favorite). All were very delicious though and went quickly! I called about 1-2 days ahead (I forgot) of when I needed the order ready and paid beforehand. We ended up having so many leftovers it fed 6 mouths for 2 more days afterwards. Overall would highly recommend this place, especially if you are looking for some Mediterranean-style catering! My friend and I tried the cold mixed appetizer, they were all amazing but my favorites were EZME and EGGPLANT WITH SAUCE. They are both a must have. Dip your warm soft pita into the eggplant sauce . We also had the SHEPHERD SALAD it was freshly made, I usually don't like salads but this was sooo good so that tells you something. Aaaand the drum roll please...ISKENDER KEBAB! Ladies and gentleman melted butter is poured over pita pieces topped with juicy gyro meat that was cooked with perfection and topped with fresh tomato sauce. I have been to Fasil many times in the past for a sit down dinner. I like Turkish Mediterranean cuisine and was glad to support them at this time. I had the Lamb Adana Kebab (skewered ground lamb flavored with red bell peppers and their own marinade and spices ($18.95). It was loaded with flavor and delicious. My dinner partner had the Lamb Cop Shish Kebab, small cubes of marinated lamb on skewers ($16.95) The complimentary flat bread and butter comes out fresh and hot and baked just right. We ordered the Turkish Tea.($2.00) per cup. It comes with packaged sugar cubes. The overall décor is simple but the table setting comes across as elegant with red table napkins. Came here for dinner with my colleague on a Monday evening. We were the first customers in around 6pm. This is a BYOB restaurant, so there you have it, can't beat it. We started with the baba ghanoush and that was pretty good! The bread service is amazing! We decided to go for different grilled meats and everything was pretty good. I think the food was a little pricey given the amount of food you get. $20 is steep whereas $15 is reasonable. Our "Friday Lunch Crew" is starting off slow this season but today we visited the Fasil Mediterranean Restaurant on Wooton St. in Boonton, NJ. Fasil is located in the Wal Mart strip Mall and has plenty of parking and is easy to get to, and conveniently there is a liquor store next door should you forget to bring a bottle. This restaurant is a BYOB that specializes in Turkish cuisine. There were a couple of last minute bail outs but the 5 of us who attended had a great time. Based on some previous recommendations, and because we wanted to sample a variety of their menu, we pretty much all decided on the lunch specials, plus a couple of separate apps. It's actually a very good deal (menu in photos) and every meals comes with a soda. I had the Yogurt Soup, which I never had before and it was very good, Eggplant Sauce, again which I never had and was very good, and the Chicken Adana Kebab as my Entree. The Andana was tasty, very juicy and a good sized portion, and everything came with Pita Bread. We shared the Grape Leave Wraps, Liver portions, Baba Ghanoush and Hummus. All good. Others in the group had the Lamb Shish Kebab, Chicken Kebab and the Chicken Kofte. Fasil has a nice ambiance, very clean, nice decor and the staff provides very friendly and helpful service. We finished with some shared Baklava and Turkish Coffee. I would like to thank our waitress, Seyma, for all her patience, helpful tips and for providing us with such great service. The prices are reasonable and on a side note, in the warm weather they provide outside dining. If you like Mediterranean/Turkish food you should give Fasil a try. read more

Been here many times but not recently until last week.Nice touch with photos on the menu.Good service and nice people.However my complaint is that we ordered the shrimp kabob- the photo showed lovely. We received two skewers with 8 small/medium shrimp with a few slices of green and red peppers and grilled lemons. the shrimp were over cooked,tasteless and rubbery-all for the lovely price of $41. With a group of people we were not about to complain since we loaded up on appetizers which is really the only reason we come here. read more

We order from here at least once every 2 weeks and I can't remember ever having a bad meal or incorrect order. During Covid they started doing a value meal takeout option which gives you a choice of a lunch size portion of an entree, cold appy, rice, shepherd salad, drink, pita. it is a great way to try different appetizers and entrees.
