Plates are simple rice and beans, with a slice of cheese over the beans. Simple flavor that can be jazzed up with some sauce. I ordered my go to, chorizo tacos. They come with lettuce, tomatoes and onions. I always ask for extra onions. They were great. I dipped them in the green mild sauce and was in heaven. Only thing I forgot to order was avocado. Place was alright, The service there was good, workers there are pretty cool, the ambiance of the place feels like where a drug dealer would meet up with someone, The food is not good, it tastes bland, no flavoring and the hot sauces do not save the food, the beans taste sad and bitter, it doesn't compliment the other ingredients in the food itself, there was more lettuce and tomato rather than actual meat and cheese. I recommend you find a local restaurant that provides actual Hispanic food, a lot of great locations around if you know where to find them, if you don't want too, I recommend any other fast food Hispanic style place. read more

Service has always been very good but the prices are a bit high now! The benefit is that they has convenient late hours. But depending on the night, you may or may not get that slice of cheese on your beans/in between your taco tortillas (which makes all the difference in taste). Their pork is amazing. Their burritos are pretty plain if you don't order extras. I actually regretted ordering a burrito and never got it again. Big fan of the rice and the medium and hot sauces are very good. As a student at Ball State in Muncie, Indiana, a good weekend night of drinking usually ended with a burrito as big as my head. The Muncie location closed more than 10 years ago...could this Labamba's bring back the same feelings from long ago. In short, Yes! It's just like someone turned the clock back. The menu, food and service is just as I remembered it. There's something about a large tortilla thrown onto the flat top smeared with beans and white American cheese slapped onto the beans. Followed by a scoop of steak and some pork mixture smothered in lettuce, tomatoes and hot sauce and rolled to perfection staying on the griddle just long enough to crisp up one side of the burrito. Ah yes...Labamba's! I've read some of the reviews here and if you're expecting top shelf Mexican cuisine, this place isn't for you. But if you want a no frills, delicious large burrito with a unique flavor with lots of spice and heat. Order the Super Combination Burrito - All the way - with hot sauce. Every time I walk into this establishment, I receive death stares from my head to my toe from the staff. I don't know who told him that I stole their family fortune or that my ancestors had fought the Mayans. I swear this is regardless of the day or time. As for the food quality, it is prepared for humans that are either altered or entirely separated from the physical realm. The only positive aspect is that they're open late. I'll take La Bamba for what it is. It's no frills Mexican fast food. And that's okay with me. It's not exactly my favorite place, but it'll do. La Bamba is in a great location - Not too far down the road from Chill Bar and Big Bar, and I'm sure it makes a great post-bar meal with those super late hours. From the way it looks on the outside, I never really had any desire to go in until I had heard from someone that it was good. They've got just about any traditional Mexican dish on their menu that you can think of - Burritos (Almost as big as your head), quesadillas, tamales - I have tried their super nachos and found them to be pretty good. You can choose from a variety of meats to put in it, or you can order them meatless. It's quick and it's cheap, on most days, that's good enough for me. read more

If you want them Mexican style you should specify, as they usually make them gringo style with lettuce, tomato and mozzarella. Both ways totally work. 3 bucks a taco either style. This location is super hidden. It's literally behind the McDonalds in the alley now that they moved their storefront away from Bardstown Rd. It's all new and shiny. Different feel, but not the same divey feel like the old location. Haha all good. It's a Highlands Neighborhood staple. You should go get buzzed at the bars and hit this place up at 2am. Disappointed We went 2day. 4 ppl 4 different dishes. Chicken burrito was not as big as advertised. Couldn't taste any cheese. The chicken was soo dry and flavorless. Chicken torta was also dry and flavorless. Beef quesadilla where was the cheese? Also flavorless. Loaded nachos were ok. Way 2 much sour cream. The horchata was ok. It was missing something. La Bamba is what it is but I don't expect to be treated with this level of disrespect. Apparently the cook is running the show and he is messing up. Two grub hub guys come in and he tells them he has no grub hub orders. The cashier calls them down and says he has the orders bagged and ready. Then he makes our order incorrectly and insist we pay for it. Wrong. That's never going to happen. Long story short. I saw see real sanitation violation. There were clear issues of cross contamination. The cook was handling food without gloves. That's s fine when going into the grill but he habitually touched food with his hands when removing from grill. The hand washing station was not being used correctly. Some food was neither being chilled or heated and being served - I'm sure it had fallen into the temperature danger zone. I hope they make adjustments quickly because I am contacting my friends the inspectors department first thing Monday. Oh well. Now it's gonna cost them more then the cost of the food he made incorrectly. read more

Amazing!!! The location isn't great because you have to find your way around the back through an ally but the parking lot is pretty big. It's like most Mexican places you'd go to but they have $1.50 tacos!!! All the other items are priced like they would be at qdoba but they are HUGE portions. My fav part is they stay open until 6am! Really convenient for all the people in Louisville who work night shift. read more

The rice is also alright, nothing too crazy. (3 out of 5)The green salsa was bland for my taste (1 out of 5)The red salsa was better than the green but still bland (2 out of 5) I tried the agua de horchata and it was very refreshing! (5 out of 5) Overall experience (4 out 5) the place is clean, organized I went around 9 pm and there was no line. Fast service. Would I recommend? Yes i would. Do not go here. I ordered a steak super burrito with guac and a large horchata. I was not given a receipt. I was not told how much I was charged. The employees only speak broken english at best. The meat was a grade above dog food. When I looked back at my bank statement the next day, I saw I was charged $61. For a burrito and a drink. I called the store, and one of the employees said to come back in and they would resolve the problem. I went back in and they refused/ were unable to refund me. They said I had to wait for a manager. Well I called back later when the manager was in the store and he also does not speak english. Essentially, there was no path forward without the ability to communicate. I am contesting the charge with my cardholder. I have love and respect for all people who work for a living, and I don't care what language the employees speak, but this is no way to run a business. My friend hyped this place up so we came here the other night and although our order came out fast and the staff was friendly I just didn't care for my chicken super burrito or the horchata. I'm not a fan of shredded meat and it was pretty dry, even with the medium hot sauce on it. It definitely needed more cheese, fried/cooked a bit more, and maybe even some sour cream on the side. It is so unique and flavorful. You can't find it anywhere else. They have setting to offer everyone. My daughter gets the veggie quesadilla. I order the veggie tacos with chips and salsa (salsa is amazing, I just can't resist), and husband gets the veggie giant burritos! One for now, one for later. They are huge! Everything is packed full. Even the fresh corn tortilla tacos. You won't go hungry eating here. I see alot of low star reviews, mostly because they mention this isn't a five star restaurant. I ordered 3 pork tamales to go in store. I actually received 1 pork and 2 veg tamales, and only realized it once I got home. I just called the store and asked them to refund my card for at least two of them. They said best they can do is have me drive all the way back to the store to switch it out. When I said I couldn't do that and asked them about a refund they said they wouldn't help. Since someone refused to help and hung up on me, I guess I have no option but to dispute the transaction on my credit card now since I did not receive what I ordered and nothing was done to accommodate me. read more

The burritos are not as big as my head. If my head was that size, I think I'd be missing copious amounts of grey matter required to support my autonomic nervous system. The dining room could use a spruce up or at least a scrubbing. It's a little dingy and fairly depressing. It feels like sitting in the recreation room in an old folks home. The staff was friendly enough but seemed to have some communication issues amongst themselves. There were some sharp exchanges in reference to our order. I like tacos so, you know, I ordered tacos. The chicken taco was pretty good and the tortillas were stuffed to capacity. The steak taco was not so good. It was dry and under-seasoned.
