Having a fun night out with family and friends on the patio

The food is amazing the service is great they will really make you fell at home no Matter who you are or if you speak Spanish or English i my self have been go here since I was little some of my best memories are from this place i remember always walking around and always being greeted by Fernando/the owner he is one of my moms good friends the food is always hot and always amazing the chips are always crispy and the last time I was there the regular drunk guys were singing there hearts out over all it's just a good place to escape and have a hot meal or for adults a drink or two.

https://youtu.be/k44acksO6OA We love La Loma, have been multiple times, even made a video for my Vlog Channel the last time I went. Their Margaritas are the best, I get their Fajita with Chorizo, shrimp and chicken!!

I went here today first time in months and they charged. 99 cents on top of my meal and drink if you use a card to pay no one else charges. 99 cents on top of your meal guess I'm going to find another place to go eat

Our son-in-law recommended this place to us as it is next to Barry's Cheesesteak and we drop in there often. Son-in-law lived in Mexico and we are both always on the lookout for authentic Mexican food. Upon entering we found that we were the only Caucasians in the restaurant, and this is a good thing. Our waitress was friendly and spoke perfect english. We had fish tacos which were very fresh, but a little on the plain side, but still good. Here what is missing: When I go into an authentic Mexican restaurant I expect a salsa and pepper bar, there was none. I expect fresh chips, not bagged, they were okay but not fresh. I hope for a mix of south of the boarder drinks and although there was a small bar with interesting mixed drinks coming out I did not see a great selection. It may have been there but not visually. Often these kind of family places have extensive menus and this location did also. however, they need some help from a graphic designer, or they need to fire the one they used. It was the most difficult menu to read I have ever seen, dark busy images behind much of the text for example. The good: My wife always tries Horchata, one of her favorite drinks, they make their own and the spices were clearly not from the local Krogers. It was thinner than she liked but tasted great! They are open for breakfast so we are heading back soon. This was the first place we have seen where we asked for a specific dish from Guatemala and they knew what it was. Every other Mexican or Southwestern joint we have tried in Louisville had no idea what we were talking about. Our waitress went back and talked with the chef for us to see if he could make it, He also knew what we wanted but indicated he did not have all the ingredients at this time! I have high hopes for this place because they seem authentic or at least act like the want to be better. I'm also forgiving for some of the short comings as it appears they are just getting started and do not have a lot of experience yet. If they do well at breakfast I'll update my review.

So it depends on who you ask when it comes to rating this place, my husband loves Mexican food and would give almost any place 5 stars, but i'm not a fan of Mexican food. The only way your going to get me to go to a Mexican restaurant is good salsa and margaritas! The food did seem authentic with corn tortillas and the salsa had pico in it which I love. It also smelled and looked very clean. The waitress was very nice and decently quick with everything we ordered. So over all it was an okay experience and we will most likely be back because of my husband!

La Loma Taco, Tripas Taco, and Lengua Taco

Literally the best Tacos I have ever had. Authentic and delicious. Under the Tacooos menu get the tripas and the lengua. I'm going to go back and try something from the seafood section. There are many choices that you don't see at other places. Four stars because no Dos Equis amber on tap and no El Yucateco habanero sauce.

I mean who can eat all this? Not my 6'3 husb even!

I went here for the first time three weeks ago And we just got home from eating here for what ive got to say is our 10 th time in three weeks Its almost embarrassing because im on a diet But heck the carnitas tacos are the BOMB With the corn tortillas Lots of families w kids and busy and great service The older guy behind my husb winked at me as I put too much tomatillo sauce on and still ate them Loved it Get more than you can eat to reheat tomorrow for lunch Yes I guess I could eat carnitas tacos everyday Siesta time!

Roach crawling on the booth at la loma on Preston hwy

Two stars because the food was actually good, but as we were getting up to leave we noticed there was a roach crawling on our booth. The place is good, but definitely needs a good cleaning and bug fumigation.

I think this is one my favorite restaurants you get large servings and fresh Made food they have the cleanest restrooms ever seen

I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
