Their food gave me food poisoning and the woman who took my order was so rude and seemed like she hated her job. I would never return.

This is probably tied as the worst Mexican food I've eaten. I ordered the combo 12 - a burrito, Chile relleno, and a taco. The only way to describe everything I ate was soggy and bland. The food has a very watery red sauce pooled at the bottom of the plate which made it that much worse. Even the hard taco, which didn't have sauce on a separate plate, was somehow soggy and also bland. I attempted to add flavor by adding their house salsa to it, but to no avail, yep, you guessed it, also watery and bland. To put it into perspective, I regret not going to Waffle House or subway which were my only other two options here. To end on a positive note, the service was very quick and friendly, and the prices are cheap, but not enough to overcome what ends up on the plate in front of you. read more

It doesn't look all that impressive when you drive into the lot, but don't let that deter you from enjoying a good Mexican dining experience. There is inside and patio seating and the property is clean and well organized. I had the tacos de carné and they were very good as was the rice and beans. The service was very good and he even had patience as I worked through my order and questions in Spanish. The chips and salsa were nearly the standard fare, but I received both mild and hot salsas to enjoy with my chips. I mixed them evenly for a heat level to my tastes. My glass was never completely empty and I always appreciate that level of attention. This is a moderately priced Mexican place with everything you would expect. Give them a try! read more

It immediately reminded me of what I call "American-Mexican" food. It's as if there is a playbook that restauranteurs review as they are deciding to open a restaurant and these guys played it safe. So if you're used to Chevy's or another familiar chain, you'll be right at home. Now, the reason for the review. I don't like to sugar coat things, especially when it comes to food. In my opinion, the carnitas burrito is a hidden gem. It's packed with seasoned pork with just the right amount of crispiness. Frankly I'm partial to al pastor when offered, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to have this burrito that came with their white queso. A coworker recommended the queso, but nothing in particular to put it on. I'm pretty sure he just drinks it. Also, they have one of my favorite salsas just hanging out at the table as ketchup would in a hamburger joint. The only real disappointment was the "extra" plate of refried beans and rice. This is always a great Mexican food experience. I really love the atmosphere and the service is fast. They offer big 36 ounce beers for cheap price as well. I usually get the combination number 11, which is one burrito, one taco, and one enchilada. It is so good for $8.99. With all that food and free chips and salsa this is an excellent deal. I frequent several of the El nopal establishments in the area. They are all pretty much the same setup inside with bright colors and fiesta like decor. All there menus are the same. They all do free chips and salsa which is always a plus. The chips and salsa at the el nopal chains probably are my favorite ones of any of the other Mexican establishments I have visited. Very good flavor and even the hot isn't too hot to where you can't taste the food. I always get the enchiladas supreme with all 5 being cheese enchiladas and just the cheese and red sauce on top. All locations are hit and miss if they get this correct when I order it. But it is to be expected with me having such a picky order and a language barrier. But they have always corrected it quickly and with courtesy when not correct. You pay up front at all locations and as mentioned above the service is always fast and courteous. If you like chain restaurants and Mexican restaurants. El nopal is the place to go. read more

Came for the first time today and the service was horrible. Such an unpleasant experience the waiter didn't even speak to us or welcomed anyone. He just grabbed menus and starting speed walking off no "follow me" or nothing! Once he got to the table he just left the menus and walked off. Me and some friends came here to celebrate a friends birthday. This was my first time eating here. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas. For only $12 you get plenty of food. I had to get a box to go and I will probably be eating from it for the next couple of days. Our waiter was very nice, but not very attentive at the beginning. We had to ask for a menu after at least 10 minutes of sitting and talking. My cup was empty for a long time, I had to finally ask for a refill. Love coming to El Nopal! Service is always fast and friendly. Chips are served hot and always fresh. Salsa is just okay but the white queso is delicious! I have only ordered the steak burrito from here for lunch. It comes with rice and refried beans and smothered in the white queso. They always have a nice selection of fresh lunch specials posted on a board right when you enter. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys fresh Mexican with great service! Was here in Louisville for training and the guys decided we should come here. It's a new place and no reviews. I had the Taco Salad so I wouldn't be weighed down for class. Service was fast. This place is clean since it's brand new. The waiter brought out the chips and salsa. We had to ask for the "Special salsa". This one has all the onions and cilantro. Not overly hot but just spicy enough. Our food came out quick. The salad was tasty. I some chicken on the bottom and it was soft and marinated nice. I would recommend this place and come back again. I literally only opened a Yelp account for this!! My buddy and I was on a work trip so we stopped in for dinner. The dinner was pretty decent but the female wait staff was deplorable. We put our order in for drinks and waited for 20 minutes because the 3 females working was sitting at the front counter playing with their gum and eating marshmallows. After calling over and getting their attention that we are ready to order they just looked at us and rolled their eyes. Then we called over to the male waiter across the restaurant Pedro. After he took over we were able to order and actually eat...if you go there DO NOT Get one of the young girls as a waitress because they do not want to work and won't even take your order. THE CASE OF THE MISSING SERVER... I went to this Location by myself and sat at the bar. The place was slow. The server, an older gentleman, was somewhat slow making it to me. He was passably friendly. The food was brought out in reasonable amount of time, and was VERY good (Pollo Veracruzano). The server checked on me once after I got my food, and then disappeared. I waited and waited for another drink, but he was not coming. I finally gave up, and walked toward the register to see if anyone could locate him. He was at the register chit-chatting with two other employees. Absolutely unacceptable. Apparently he loses interest when business is slow, and that is just rude. I love El Nopal overall, and especially the J-town location, but I will NOT be back to this one. read more

Another fun night celebrating a friend's BDay, with my UPS friends. This seems to be a UPS and FORD hangout, for some affordable Mexican food and drinks. My drink was on the higher side of their price range, but worth the price. It was a Coronita(tequila in the cup & Corona hanging high). The drink lasted me throughout the dinner. Every sip I took, caused the hanging Corona to fill my glass back up. The food was also good. I ordered the Las Yolandas(3 chicken enchiladas with a red sauce and topped with a lettuce salad). I was full after eating the enchiladas and had to take the rest home. The shredded chicken was moist and the sauce had great flavor. The crunchy lettuce & tangy sour cream on top helped balance the flavors out. I ordered one of my favorite desserts, Flan(Latin custard). They topped it generously with whipcream, and some chocolate drizzle. I could eat this stuff all day, it was so good. FYI: If the staff finds out it's your BDay, watch out for the whipcream. The staff will sing you a sweet BDay cheer before rubbing your face with a hand full of whipcream. The good thing is the staff will give you a BDay shot, treat, and sombrero(hat). The BDay girl happily gulped her shot down, while trying to wipe off all the whipcream from her face. The BDay girl was nice enough to share her BDay treat, which was several triangle flat like churros with icecream and whipcream. Big enough to share, and tasted awesome. The place was filled with bright paintings on the walls, that really brightened the place up and showed it's culture. I come up to Louisville for work training and this is right by the hotel so I stop in here every week. Man!!!! This place is absolutely amazing. Probably the best American style Mexican restaurant I've ever ate at. The waiter was extremely friendly. Knew my first name ( did have my name tag on but still) my #1 combination dinner consist of 2 beef enchiladas with red sauce, 1 taco, and rice. I also got a 1/2 thing of queso. I usually start off with eating the tortilla and when I took the first bite the flavor and texture of the sauce and tortilla was nothing short of amazing. The flavor the sauce had was live for!! I mix the ground beef with the rice and red sauce together. Then I add the queso to that combination and it was amazing. My food came out no less that maybe 5-6 minutes MAYBE! It tested very fresh, homemade almost. My waiter would ask if it was good, and every waiter was nice to all the fellow guests. I would recommend this exact restaurant on paramount park drive to ANYONE! I live 137 miles from here and when I come up Wednesday I already know where I will eat that night!!! read more

Got in a little after 8p tonight on a business trip from Columbus, Ohio (go Bucks!) & decided to check out this place since I love me a good marg & chips & salsa! I was seated immediately after requesting to sit on the patio, not one, but 2 servers came out instantly with chips & salsa, took my drink order & the other almost instantly showed back up with it! I'm thinking that wasn't a very good thing because it was pretty weak on the alcohol. Chips & salsa were on point with just the right spice to the salsa & warm chips! I ordered the chicken poblano & the server told me that was a good choice & boy was he right! It came out piping hot, loaded up with veggies & cheese! I'm not a big beans & rice fan, but I did pick at both & they weren't too shabby! Portion was so large on the chicken breast that I had to get a to go box! Now..mind you I'm here by myself & at the end the server started to ask me where my friends were..i would like to think that he was just trying to be personable & friendly, but as a woman sitting in a restaurant alone & in today's world..I didn't care for him asking me that. The people were very nice but my meal was terrible. I ordered chicken tacos combo with rice only to go. When I opened my meal it was the opposite. I got beef tacos with rice and beans..... the taco shell were old, the meat was dry, the rice had no flavor and the refried beans taste like soap. I don't think I'd ever had Mexican food this bad. This was my first time at this location and its now my fave. The restaurant is smaller than the one on OuterLoop but I like how they have more booth seating and the staff seem more friendly. This was our first time out to eat in a while because of Covid. We were the only ones there on a Monday night and they are very mask compliant which I loved. We ordered a steak fajita for 2 for $28 and the steak was so tender and buttery it was amazing!! I had the Chicken Norteno and it was just the right amount of spicy with the grilled jalapeños. The portion of chicken was huge as well and could have easily fed two people. My littlest child had a kids meal and loved it. Cheese enchilada with rice. Their rice is so fluffy and flavorful. Definitely one of the better Mexican rices in town. With all this food our bill was under $50!!! And we had plenty of food to go. If you are hesitant like myself of going out to eat right now this place is amazing and will definitely put you at ease while you have an amazing meal. read more

It is a big and open restaurant. I came here during lunch on a week day and it was fairly busy. That did not slow down the service though. I got a seat really get away and ordered a lunch time chimichanga. It came out a little under ten minutes later. My only complaint was that it was a tad bit smaller than I expected but with the amount of chips and salsa I consumed it all evened out. The place was clean and well kept. The radio could have been turned down a little bit though. The service was fast and I had no complaints on their part. read more

This was our first visit to the restaurant, my husband & I will definitely be back. Portions are large, I was only able to eat one taco. My husband, who eats like a horse :), was unable to finish his plate as well. The waiter was great! He was on top of everything, bringing more soft drinks before the other glass was empty, making sure our order came out correctly and refilling the salsa carafes in a timely manner. My favorite spot to visit whenever I come to town. Even though I live in California, this is usually the first place I go when I get back. They don't have white cheese dip out here! Get an order of pico de gallo and throw it in your cheese dip, you'll thank me. The Monica's platter is my favorite thing. The chimichangas are bomb, pollo asado is yummy too. This restaurant is super convenient for anyone staying at the airport hotels. They have a good variety of options. The service is fast and it's reasonably priced. The food quality is good and very tasty. They have Modelo and Dos Equis on draught with 32 oz. mugs. If you like Mexican food you can't beat the the place. read more
