2 Taco Plate, Guacomole (4 oz), Carne Asada tacos

I was craving some Mexican food while in the city of Montrose and La Cabanita had the highest reviews of all the Mexican restaurants in the area so I decided to give them a try. We walked in at 8 PM, an hour before closing, and the game had just started on the TV screen. We decided to order their tacos because they come with homemade tortillas. I must say the tacos were delicious! They came with black beans and rice and a side of pico de gallo. We also got their guacamole and some sour cream on the side. I ordered an Horchata drink, but I did not like it very much, it tasted watered down and not as good as other ones I've had before. Next time I would return to try some more tacos and a margarita instead.

This place was so delicious! It was my first time here and I thought the place was super cute, and the server who waited on our table was so sweet. I got the corn soup, and the enchiladas verde with chicken and it was all really yummy! They had some of the best chips I've ever had. The place is really loud though, the walls don't have the best acoustics so it's a little hard to hear your party talking so just keep that in mind but I think they might have a smaller room that is probably better for smaller parties? Not sure though But all in all, this place was amazing and can't wait to come back and try something new!

Finally found a solid Mexican breakfast place that reminds me of Mexico City! A hidden gem close to the Montrose Farmer's Market so you can walk around after eating a delicious meal. I really like all the breakfast dishes we got and appreciated how big the portions were! For the machaca norteña, the eggs were seasoned and had the perfect inclusions. Everything tasted amazing wrapped in a tortilla especially with the beans. The omelet with chipotle had a slight kick to it and great flavor!

Found this restaurant while in the city for a baseball game. It was open. It was busy. It was 10 AM. Staff was friendly and seated me quickly. It was early but still very charming and lively. I ordered the tacos de arrachondo (I believe). Food came out quickly. My tab was $21. No complaints because of the service, large plate, and the food was REALLY good

The chilaquiles were very good; crispy and with a little kick but not too spicy. The burrito was also very good. We really liked the tortilla chips and the salsa verde. We ordered a margarita pitcher which served about 4 glasses. The service was very good and our waiter was super friendly. Will definitely come back to try another dish. Live their mural also!

    two tamales, rice and beans

Many restaurants claim to treat their guests like family, few can actually live up to that promise. La Cabanita is one of those few. The waiter let me choose where to sit, suggested the coveted window-side seat, and then gave me FREE chips and salsa! I had two tamales and a green mole chicken. No words. Each bite was perfection. I ordered horchata. Each sip was a welcome home. The BEST Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I wish there was Mexican food at

One of the great Mexican brunches in LA. We ordered Huevos Rancheros (because I missed it!) and Carnitas La Cabanita. I finished the Huevos Rancheros as it is a simple dish with two sunny-side-up eggs and corn tortillas underneath plus black beans. The lean pork is soft from the Carnitas dish which includes rice and salad. Cafe De Olla is my kind of coffee and theirs has a subtle cinnamon flavor but you can still taste it which I liked. Their green and red sauce as well as chips are soooo good! Come by and try! The staff are attentive and observant. Their service is excellent! The place is clean and the ambiance is quiet. People seem to enjoy the food. I would love to come back again. 5/5 on this one

We enjoy going to this restaurant and love to bring family and friends, even though it's not the biggest they can still accommodate large parties. If you come with the least six people, we recommend getting the appetizer platter. It comes with a little of everything, including quesadillas, taquitos, cheese, carnitas, guacamole, and much more. Love coming for their lunchtime specials good deal for the amount of food you get if you go on the weekend you can get as one of the soups and their pozole is amazing! There is a ton of street parking. Just remember to curb your reels so that you don't get a ticket. The staff is very attentive and helpful. If you have any questions we've been coming here for years and we love bringing our friends and family.

Tried this Mexican restaurant out for the first time. It's a really nice local spot. It can be a challenge to find street parking so give yourself enough time. There is no restaurant parking lot that I know of. And depending on where you park, don't forget to curb your wheels. There were a few people waiting outside and when we entered, wow it was busy. Not in a bad way. It has a nice neighborhood family vibe to it. Love the interior design. A little snug and consists of a few sections. There's also a bar. We had a large group and were seated in the back where there was more space and tables. We were given chips and salsa, which were pretty good. I ate a ton before the meal and during. I ordered the Chicken flautas plate. The flautas were crispy and juicy. Easy to bite into and not tough. So good with the guacamole on top. And the beans and rice kept me eating nonstop lol. Nothing left on this place. I had it with a negra modelo and it was a perfect meal spent with new and old friends. Definitely worth a visit!

    Street Taco al pastor
    Mary K.

This place is probably the only good Mexican restaurant in the area. I love their salsas with the chips I always ask for extra. The street al pastor tacos were just okay but the other three tacos were pretty good! I liked the tortilla it came with so much better and the meats had way more flavor. I would come back and get more of those tacos. The blended margarita was just okay I barely tasted alcohol I'll probably do on the rocks next time. Service can be slow if it's busy. Overall good spot for lunch in this area!

I've been coming here for years and the food here is consistently good. I live the chips and salsas always. The La Cabañita chili relleno is one of my favorites.

My wife and I decided to have an early Sunday dinner at La Cabanita. For numerous reasons, (being away from town for extended periods, trying new places, etc) we hadn't dined here in quite some time. We ordered our usual fare, Quesadilla Azteca with chicken and an ala carte chili relleno for me and an ala chuleta and chili relleno with rice and beans for my wife. We had house margaritas and enjoyed the chips and salsas. The service was excellent and everyone was very attentive. The food arrived promptly and was piping hot. It was delicious and nothing had changed....it was just as tasty and satisfying as it has always been since we started dining there over 25 years ago. As I told Josie, the owner/manager when she inquired about our meals, "it's like going home". We had a great meal and stayed to enjoy desserts and a coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and will be back soon and definitely, we won't stay away for very long. The food is too good to do that!

Delicious food, price and quality. Fast service and amazing place. Beverages very fresh and delicious

With the seemingly ever-changing landscape along Brand Blvd. in downtown Glendale, this establishment has been around since 2012 (which I believe was the first and only time I came here). Primarily known for its inventive craft cocktails and a killer whiskey selection, it was a nice place to sneak away into before or after your main event... or, maybe this could be the place to spend an entire evening. After a few minutes of reviewing the menu, we each placed our order at the bar, our drinks were delivered quickly while the food took mere minutes to arrive at the table. We had to approach the bar each time we ordered something, but any empty glasses and plates were collected at the table. Once we closed out our tabs, we were thanked for coming as we headed out into the night. Everything was chill and easy - thank you! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance): I parked in the nearby original Glendale Galleria parking structure and simply walked over first to The Americana then to this place. Otherwise, there was limited parking along the main drag of Brand Blvd. and other surrounding side streets, the nearby Glendale Galleria II parking structure, The Americana parking structure that offered validation, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A dark cavernous speakeasy-like place with open space, various tables and couches strewn about, and a large long somewhat decorative bar with an impressive whiskey selection displayed behind it. I appreciated the exposed brick walls which gave it that old-time feel with a few framed pictures hung on them. Minimal natural lighting came through the front doors and windows while minimal electric ceiling lights filled in rest. There was at least one projection TV where we watched the Dodgers game while music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=SomLKsk1KVcemeOCHGOZfg ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to slip into The Famous Bar for the first time in over a decade, and if I found myself spending time in downtown Glendale again, I'd consider another visit. Sadly, I try to avoid the highly congested area as much as possible. I loved the fact that they had a daily happy hour (4pm-7pm) and late-night SU-TH happy hours (10:30pm-close), so there was always a deal to be found. The drinks were the main reason you came, while the food was just an add-on. The prices were elevated, but you had a good menu selection of libations (nice local craft beer list) to choose from. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $42.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. This spot opened about a year ago, and has a cool speakeasy style entrance at the Highland Park Bowl bowling alley. It is a small space, and I would highly recommend making a reservation on Resy. You have 90 minutes to drink and dine. I parked behind the bowling alley where there is a medium sized pay parking lot. Park in a space, remember your space number painted on the ground, and go to the pay station at the end of the lot. I found the parking machine to be extremely finicky as did other people. After ten minutes of failure, I ended up moving my car to another space, and then it worked. This has nothing to do with the Lucky Tiki, but FYI if you park there. We walked around to the front of the bowling alley, and checked in. Seating options include at the bar, tiki hut booths, and high top tables. The décor inside is a tiki lovers paradise. The room has a high ceiling with many tiki lamps, floats, puffer fish, tiki huts, thatch, ropes, barrels, netting, carvings, a hanging canoe, and a large tiki right in the middle of the space. In addition to the great décor, when you order certain drinks, special effects are triggered. There was also great tiki music playing all evening. We sat at the bar since we always enjoy talking to the bartenders. We actually ran into Skipper Christian in the parking lot on the way in, and he ended up being our main bartender, with Nick and Jo also working behind the bar. We put in a food order right away. The chicken potstickers ($12) came with five tasty bites, and the garlic teriyaki dipping sauce was good. We also had the giant pretzel ($16) which comes with mustard, beer cheese, and ranch sauces. This was excellent, and the perfect filling snack before a bunch of drinks. My first drink was the Siren's Song (Flor de Cana Eco rum, lemon juice, cassis, Oloroso sherry, apricot foam topper, $19). This drink is served in a great mermaid with skull mug and triggers special sound effects and bubbles fill the air. Those bubbles on top of the drink had a great light citrusy apricot flavor, probably the best flavored bubbles I've ever had. The drink itself was very good and balanced with some complexity. She wasn't sure what to order at first, and Christian asked her what flavors she liked. He ended up making a spin on a Tradewinds with some mango and pineapple to go along with the apricot and coconut. It was nicely balanced and not too sweet, even with all that fruit in there. My second drink was the Sun of Suns (Tierra de Acre mezcal, coconut cream, Giffard mango liqueur, pineapple juice, lime juice, $17). This was coconut and pineapple forward with some good smokiness in the background. Her second drink was the Whatever Floats Your Boat (Ford's gin, lemon juice, velvet falernum, orgeat, passion fruit syrup, guava soda, topped with hazelnut passion fruit foam, $19). It is served in a cool boat mug, and triggers thunder sound effects and lighted mechanical Polynesian tiki characters paddling a canoe over the bar. This was another good balanced drink. It was a little gin forward and the passion fruit popped out, maybe from being both in the drink and the foam top. That creamy hazelnut passion fruit form on top is delicious. I'd happily have a glass of that on its own. We were still a little hungry so we ordered the Hawaiian pizza (marinara, diced pepperoni, red onion, pineapple chunks, hot capicola ham, $16). It was another good tasting, perfectly sized snack, and the crust was light and airy. We were already fifteen minutes over our time limit, but we got the green light to stay longer to order a third drink to share. We ordered the Tiki Diablo (Flor de Cana Eco rum, Worthy Park 109 rum, Alma Tepecha chile liqueur, orange juice, lime juice, mango syrup, guava soda, $24). This drink serves two people, is served in a cool volcano bowl with glowing red lava around it, and comes with a fire show. Unfortunately, right after it was served, the host came over and said we were over our time and had to leave shortly. Christian made up for it by giving us two tall pours to go enjoy in the bowling alley bar area which was fine. We were happy we got some extra time inside. The drink was also very good, balanced with a little complexity. We had a great time. There is so much great décor to look at. The drinks and food were very good, and some of the the drink presentations and special effects were the icing on the cake. All of the bartenders were very friendly and a lot of fun. We purchased up a few zombie glasses to take home as a souvenir. I'd definitely recommend visiting the Lucky Tiki in Highland Park!

Our waitress got us some free shots, very kind. :) Ambiance 4/5 I love the vibes, the darkness, the decor. It's just too stinky and smokey whenever they serve the Painkiller.
