Finally made it to Los Gringos Locos to celebrate their 30th Anniversary and have some yummy $1 tacos. Came with a couple friends to introduce one to this hidden gem. Busy lunch service in the bar area with the 30th Anniversary promotion. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was delicious as usual. We started with drinks including the medium cucumber margarita (huge!) and an order of the tableside guacamole. Then on to our tacos (table orders included the shredded chicken, barbacoa and picadillo). No room for desserts this time. Would love to see carnitas, fried fish and birria included in the taco specials and taco Tuesdays for a change. Looking forward to next visit. read more

recently dined at here ,hoping for an authentic Mexican experience, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. Having spent my entire life in Los Angeles, I have a deep appreciation for good Mexican food, and this restaurant did not deliver. The food was a significant disappointment. Many dishes arrived either uncooked or poorly cooked, lacking the flavors and textures that make Mexican cuisine so vibrant. For instance, the tacos were soggy and bland, while the enchiladas seemed like they were hastily thrown together with minimal seasoning. It was disheartening to see such potential squandered on poorly executed dishes. The only redeeming quality of the afternoon lunch was our waiter, who was attentive and friendly. He tried to make our dining experience enjoyable, but even his efforts couldn't salvage the meal. Overall, I cannot recommend this place for anyone seeking authentic Mexican cuisine. There are far better options in Los Angeles that truly capture the essence of the flavors and traditions of Mexico. I left feeling unsatisfied and paid a lot of money for cheap food. read more

We have been going to Los Gringos for a long time. It's a great place to meet friends for dinner because the food is delicious, the service is excellent and Omar's margaritas are the best. They have Margarita Mondays where Margaritas are half off and Taco Tuesdays. You can join Gringo Rewards to earn free food & promotional deals. They also recognize customer birthdays. Complimentary hot chips & salsa!!! Yesh plz!! It was my first time here so it was a lovely surprise. The portion was great. They even asked if we wanted refills. Yay!! Yumm lol Our waiter was great. He seemed to be the nicest one there lol he greeted and looked happy to be there. A smile can be dangerous...it can brighten up someone's day or change the vibe of the atmosphere. His smile made us felt welcomed. We ordered the famous guac. For $15.99 with a show, it should be worth it. However, the flavor didn't hit. Maybe the avocado was the problem. I dunno...the staff who made the guac let us try the guac to see if we wanted any adjustments. That was nice. We asked for more lime and a bit more tomatoes. However, it only helped a bit. We ended having left overs and didn't Togo it. As for the mains, we ordered the enchiladas, chile verde, and steak fajitas. I enjoyed my chile verde. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. The green sauce had a good amount of sour to it. The rice was yummy as well. I didn't like the cheese beans much. It had a smell that I m not used to. I had it at other restaurants before and enjoyed it very much. My mom got the steak fajitas. It came with the rice, beans and etc. My nephew and I thought the steaks tasted pretty good. For some reasons, my mom didn't enjoy it as much. My nephew got the enchiladas. He thought it would be the ones with the red sauces on top. He said it was a bit dry, but he was still able to finish it. That was a good sign. It wasn't bad. One minor problem...I only ordered a tea for my mom, but our waiter brought out 2 and charged us for 2. He prob assumed that we both wanted teas or misheard me. It got pretty busy so our server was a bit slow. We had to wait a while for boxes and for the bill. Kudos for our waiter to remember about my $20 coupon. He included the discounts on the bill. I've been coming to Los Gringos Locos since they were in a smaller spot across the street. It's one of my favorite places for Mexican Food. (See my previous review.) I'm updating my review to rave about how fantastic Ignacio is. My uncle and I came here for dinner and we were fortunate to have Ignacio as our server. He was polite, friendly, and attentive. I noticed the menu has been paired down and mentioned that I was sad they no longer had Shrimp Diablo. He told me they can still make the classics upon request (Arroz Con Pollo, Garlic Shrimp...). Uncle ordered the Chile Verde. I also got a skinny margarita to go with my Shrimp Diablo. (Their margaritas are made from scratch.) Ignacio brought us warm chips & salsa to start. The shrimp came with rice, beans, & house made flour tortillas. The tortillas were soft & warm, the beans were creamy & tasty, and the rice had a nice flavor. The shrimp was fantastic! I dined here for the second time about a month ago and had a very similar experience to my first visit. Los Gringos Locos is a convenient spot in La Canada/Flintridge, especially after a long hike. After finishing nearby Strawberry Peak, a group of about ten of us came here for a late lunch/early dinner and it worked perfectly for our needs. Our server, Ignacio, handled our large group with relative ease. He was attentive, friendly, and efficient which of course is no small feat when juggling multiple orders of draft beers, margaritas, sodas, and waters. Service here has consistently been a highlight. But, when it came time to order food, I was a bit surprised by the pricing. A simple bean and rice burrito runs $14.99, grilled flautas are $19.99, and a la carte tacos and tamales are $6.99 each. Even a side of sour cream is $2.29. While the food itself is solid - classic Mexican staples, satisfying but nothing particularly elevated - the cost feels a bit steep for what you get. Even so, the convenience of the location, the consistently good service, and the ease of parking still makes Los Gringos Locos a reliable choice, especially with a group. It's not a spot I'd call a bargain, but it's one I'm sure we will return to in the future. read more

I would like to address a recent experience at your establishment. I encountered an issue with the temperature of my food, and upon requesting to speak with the manager, Jesse, I was met with an unhelpful and dismissive response. Jesse implied that I had a history of similar complaints and suggested I seek an alternative dining venue, which I interpreted as a directive not to return. I was not given the opportunity to explain the situation regarding the food's temperature, and I found his demeanor to be unprofessional. Furthermore, I observed that the food was served cold and that the the husk of tamale appeared to have fungal growth. The bar area seemed very upbeat with sports playing on the TV. We got seated at the back near the kitchen. I got the "I'm not sharing" birria tacos because I was curious on how many tacos there would be. I wish the menu showed how many tacos were included. It came with a side of rice and beans, but I feel like it would have been better al carte because the TWO tacos did not feel like it should have been worth $19.99. The flavor was alright and it felt subpar in taste because I've tasted better birria elsewhere. The pinto beans just didn't pair well also with the tacos. The side of consomme was also in a small 4-6oz cup. You automatically get this once you sit so I tried the salsa and chips and found the tomato salsa to be alright. They gave so much chips that we could not finish it all. The "Classic TJ street" steak tacos (3 count) was $18.99 so for $6 a taco they were all dry and needed to be dipped in the alright salsa or doused with the hot sauce bottle on the table. In terms of taste, it was also just alright. Is this the absolute best, most authentic Mexican food that you're ever going to have? Nope. But it has very solid food, really friendly service, fair prices, huge drinks, good guacamole, bottomless chips, and a kid friendly atmosphere (with booths that helpfully have high walls between them). Parking is also abundant and free. For a young family trying to find an easy dinner spot, it's a very good option. We'll be back! read more

Finally made it to Los Gringos for a post-softball dinner! It lived up to the hype! The good: - Margaritas, especially from Omar, were great. Good flavor and strong! Just how I like it! - Guac Cart - this was delicious guac. Made table side just how we liked it! The OK: - I ordered the flautas, and they were fine. Other Mexican restaurants seem to have better main courses, but by no means was this bad. I'm looking forward to a return and for sure can't pass on the Margarita or the guac! Sam is one of our favorite people and is a fabulous server! She really knows how to connect with her clients! My wife looks forward to the table-side guacamole and the kids who make it (sometimes the servers are a bit older, but for the most part, they are pretty young) do a wonderful job; it is delicious. I have a different meal each time, and my salad last night with the grilled fish was superb! My wife has her chile relleno, and she is always satisfied. Over the past 30 years, I've been going to Los Gringos Locos and it just keeps getting better. I was impressed how the restaurant pivoted during COVID, and made sure all its customers were safe and doing the right things. Since the COVID pandemic, I've been going to Los Gringos Locos more for their crispy taquitos, which fulfills me somehow. I particularly enjoy the reception desk for takeout, as they are so friendly and provides me with hapiness everytime I go in. When the family does dine in, we make sure we get their guacamole (mild) to make our experience at the restaurant special. Keep up the good work! read more

I was craving chips and salsa and I remember Los Gringos Rapidos was very popular when I was in high school, and Los Gringos Locos (I assume the same place but leveled up to a sit down restaurant all these years later) is popular with some of my coworkers, but I had never been. I got a chicken wet burrito, which was a good size but overall, pretty bland. The chips also could use a hit of salt. The salsa is chunky and heavy on the cilantro. It also took forever for someone to bring my check. Everyone i interacted with was friendly, but the food is pretty lackluster and nothing I ever need to try again. I feel like this might be a spot that stays open and busy because it appeals mainly to the locals and the elderly. read more

I've been here twice both experiences were pretty much the same. Bunch of Caucasian Americans here eating Mexican food getting preference from servers in the manner of service and greetings. I'm Mexican myself, I usually eat this stuff (probably even way better quality) I went to this place to eat a nice Mexican meal, yet was constantly looked at in a non friendly way by the retired Caucasian customers and waiters definitely prefer those customers over Latino/Mexican. I'll never go back here again because of the poor service and it's not family friendly. The greeter of the restaurant was unfriendly and didn't seem to be interested in being there. The waiter made the experience terrible. He was inattentive and forgot many things. Even though we were ready to order food, he said that he would only take the drinks order first. We had two small children with us and he wasn't considerate that it might be important for small children to eat. I had also asked for additional napkins because I spilled ice tea on myself, and let him know that's why I was asking, and he didn't provide any. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is probably not the place. I ordered the carne asada plate and it had very little flavor, and the beans tasted like canned beans. The salsas also didn't taste like traditional Mexican salsas. The best thing we tried was the Gringo Guac, which was actually pretty good.
