When exploring Texas I like me to check out local restaurants and saw this on the side of the road so decided to give it a shot. Staff- really cool staff and all were polite Chicken Fajita Burrito- I just got the burrito by itself as I wasn't real hungry and I wanted a dessert also. The burrito by itself is more than enough though as it was really dense and packed with fajita chicken. It only cost 9 bucks so it really doesn't get much better at this price point. 5 STARS TRES LECHES- This was good also but it had that fake Hershey's syrup drizzled on top which always tastes terrible. 3.5 stars Chips and Salsa- the chips we're basic but the salsa was on point. I have never had deconstructed Chile rellenos before and oh boy were they good! Poblanos stuffed with cheese and carnitas, basically the pepper as the shell. An intense amount of cheese but it was sooo good! Ask for the habanero salsa -- yum! Regular salsa and chips were good as well. We ordered margaritas on the rocks, which our server seemed unsure how to make. They tasted like mango juice with a little (very little) tequila. That combined with pretty bland rice and beans brought my review down to 3, but I did really like the Chiles and appreciated seeing something different on the menu! We have been to La Cabana many times and always enjoyed it, but we went the other night and were extremely disappointed and concerned that several people working there were not wearing their masks properly. The mask needs to go OVER the nose. We almost bailed before eating and in retrospect we should have, after seeing people carrying and serving food, taking orders with their faces within inches of us, with their masks below the nose. My friend repeatedly tried to signal to people to fix their masks but was ignored. We will not return until the pandemic is over. Which is a huge bummer because we live super close and really enjoy the food and the people. read more

We arrived and almost every worker was busy doing something but no one told us to take a seat so we stood at the door looking lost. Ok, you want tex-mex and you want it now-head to La Cabana. Everything on the menu is delicious. Have had numerous items over the years and all are tasty, fresh and wonderful. Service is friendly and timely with no issues. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Wish there were booths and a little more space, but; it's not a fatal flaw. Honest Covid review. Nice place to sit in or out in the evening. Spicewood hospitality is southern comfort. They took all the recommended precautions and still have great customer service. Very attentive, considerate and expedient. Service was fast and friendly with attention to detail. The margaritas were great and they added taijin for me. Fajitas were very tender. Slightly harder than a pot roast but very good. The beans were delicious and the price for the quality and amount of food you get is a real bargain. Great Tex mex! read more

Stopped in after a day of sightseeing. Sat in the patio observing social distancing rules. My wife went with the fajitas and I went with the vegetarian stuffed peppers. Great place for lunch! We dined outside at the picnic tables. The food was a delicious combination of Tex-Mex items done well at a very reasonable price. Their chips were great! We ordered with both queso and guacamole and scarfed them all down ! For entrées we were served combinations of quesadillas and tacos with sides of frijoles and rice. Sat at the bar with my wife. At one point almost every staff member was eating or drinking behind the bar and while moving around. One guy was eating a pint of ice cream 3' away from me and I asked if he could move and he offered me some while being rude. I declined. Food is flavorless. Food safety is non existent. Great neighborhood restaurant for delicious homemade Mexican fare. Chili rellenos with shrimp are a standout, topped with a flavorful cheese and accompanied with standard rice and beans. The complimentary salsa is loaded with garlic and just the right amount of spice. Chips were served crispy and warm. I really love the experience of having warm chips and salsa at the restaurant with a good margarita but during COVID we have to do what we have to do. I was visiting from out of town so we grabbed food to go. WOW, great service, even better food when we got it back to our place we were staying and the portion was huge. Delicious chips and salsa come with each order, great queso, the enchiladas were filled with tasty ground beef and I loved the refried beans. So much food it was lunch and dinner that day.
