We met family here for lunch as this was near their hotel and they requested a Cuba meal. They were quite busy even as we came for a late lunch. We were seated and immediately given water and freshly toasted Cuban bread. They had a few lunch specials. I got their quarter chicken with plantains and rice. I substituted moros for white rice. The chicken was very tender. The grandsons both got sandwiches -- one with croquettas and one the (large) Cuban special. My husband had a roast pork sandwich. They shared a. Extra side of crispy French fries. The other adults got a vaca frita (fried beef) and a chicken bread with guava bbq sauce. The caramel flan was perfect. We shared a couple of the desserts. Everyone liked their meals. Service was friendly and very good -- refilling drinks and bread. And yes, we would come back if in the area.

In the beginning it was fine. We knew we came late at 8 and they close at 10. They sat us down quickly but later our waitress came back very often to ask if we knew what we wanted and needed to hurry because the kitchen was closing. They weren't kicking us out but rushing us. When our friends got there, she was like you have 10 minutes to add in your order the chef is leaving. Since we only really got dessert, it was good. But the service was not.

You can go wrong with Cuban food... great flavor, great portions and that Hispanic unique style. The service A plus, our fantastic server Dunia in the picture was amazing. In a real Cuban environment.. Recommended!

It's a good location with lots of parking. We went for lunch during the weekend and it was pretty empty. As soon as I walked in I noticed how nice the inside looks. The fans on the ceilings are beautiful. Very clean floors and bathroom. We ordered ropa vieja and masitas de puerco. I do think both dishes were missing some flavor, but the bread they bring out while waiting for your food is delicious. We also ordered mariquitas, which were not bad. The waiter could have been more attentive, but the service was fast and the food came out quick! I would come back again and try a different dish.

I came here on Saturday. The service was fast. The food was OK. I have had better cuban food. The yuca was missing the mojo with garlic . It was plain. The moros was lacking taste and chicken was a bit dry.

I met with a few colleagues who decided to eat at this restaurant. It's quite a large restaurant with a bar and plenty of seating inside and outdoor. There were plenty of staff throughout and our waitress was very nice and great at what she does. I ordered the fried chicken chunks which was recommended to me and a popular order on their menu. I ordered it exactly as pictured on the menu. It came without the onions. The chicken was crispy and tender. The plantains were also crispy. The rice was ok. I do wish the Cuban Mojo and Onions were added to my plate as it should've been.

Sanitation. I found a roach in my pan con lechón! It was in the middle of the sandwich along with a piece of pork.

La Carreta is a great choice if you are looking for authentic, affordable and quick Cuban food in the area! They have a huge spacious indoor seating room with a bar as well. They also have an outdoor patio window for ordering Cuban coffee and light bites open throughout the day. La Carreta is such a great lunch spot as it has a huge menu with a ton of daily specials. My favorite dish by far is the Vaca Frita (marinated and fried pieces of beef) and you get two sides!! My go-to sides are usually Moros Rice (white rice mixed with pork and black beans) and sweet Plaintains! However, you can't go wrong with any of their sides especially the green Plaintains, yuca, or even the fries. The portions are huge for the price and the Vaca Frita is cooked to perfection! It's perfectly seasoned with a ton of cooked onions mixed throughout. If you are in Miramar and debating what Cuban spot to try, you must give La Carreta a try as you will not be disappointed

Excellent service, clean , friendly staff . The food came out quick and was delicious. I ordered the palomilla steak with white rice, black beans, tostones for dinner. For dessert I got the flan de caramelo with an espresso. Everything was delicious well seasoned and cooked to my liking. If you're looking for good Cuban food, I suggest coming here .

We stopped for lunch and tried the lunch menu items. We tried the pollo asado bowl which comes with rice, salad , big chunk of avocado and baked chicken no skin. The rice and beans were so good. Beans were a little watery but were perfect for my taste as this is the way i like them. Chicken had good flavor but was a bit dry. Waitress was fast but food took longer than expected and we had to rush back to work. Love the 1950's Havana nostalgia vibe with all the vintage cuban decor. Dimmed lights and nice bright bar area. In my opinion, trying Cuban food is a must, for anyone visiting Florida, since Spanish culture is such a huge part of South Florida scene. We found one or two other restaurants that offer better quality Cuban food than Havana 1957, but with vibe and music thrown in the mix, we decided to go with Havana 1957. We went on a Wednesday night, and though the place was mostly empty, it took a long time for us to get our food. We were a party of 9 so I understand how it could have been hectic for the chefs in the back preparing our food, but wait time of close to 1 hour felt a bit extreme. Our server was nice. The food was decent. The vibe was nice. The only bad experience I have to say, was that there was a lady from Visenta Studio walking around asking to take photos of us. Before we even got our appetizers, she came and asked if I wanted to buy the photos she took of us on a frame for $20 each. I asked her can I wait until after we eat to pay for the pictures? She said no, I am sorry right now please. I then asked if she can removed the photos from the frame because our family have to go back on Friday and they would prefer to bring just the photos and not the frames. I asked if I can pay her $10 just for the photo and no frame, and she said no it's still $20. I asked her what happens to the pictures I don't buy and she said they go in the garbage. I asked to speak to the manager to better understand how this made sense and she said the manager can't do anything because it's not his company. Honestly, this was such a frustrating experience and lost my appetite going back and forth with this lady named Samantha. I hold Havana 1957 partially accountable for going along with Visenta Studio and allowing this money hungry photographer to come and interrupt our dining experience. The whole experience would have been much better without this photographer engaging to ruin our experience. At the very least, Samantha (Visenta studio photographer) could have had humor and manners and offered to take free photo with our phone after we purchased two of her overpriced photos on hideous frames. I recommend this place to others for sure. I don't recommend you entertain the photographers from Visenta Studio. If they come by you said no thank you and save your money please. We are Florida locals who got suckered into paying tourist price for average pictures.

She attentive, friendly and helpful. We wanted to order an appetizer before our entree came out and she advised us to wait because it would come out at the same time which I personally don't like so I appreciated her letting us know. To start, I ordered a jupiña and my bf ordered a materva. We also got bread for the table and ordered an appetizer which was the trio tostones. For the trio, we only went with chicken and beef because we didn't want to have pork. The chicken ended up being better than the beef so we would probably go with the chicken next time. Once the appetizer came out, then we placed our entree order. I decided to go with the vaca frita, maduros, and moro rice and my bf ordered a palomilla, white rice and yuca. We both enjoyed our meals. Then, I ordered a coffee which was good as well. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the service. We would come back. The Vaca Frita was outstanding, a generous portion, perfectly seasoned, and cooked exactly as requested: extra crispy. The rice was flavorful without being overly salty, and the black beans were spot-on. Everything struck that perfect balance where it's seasoned just right, you don't need to add anything unless you want to. The tostones were excellent too, crispy on the outside with a soft, tender bite inside, nothing like the hard, overcooked versions you often get elsewhere. We started with their plantain chips and enjoyed the complimentary Cuban bread. For dessert, the mousse was light, fluffy, and not overly sweet, the ideal finish. Sergio's has easily become our go-to spot for Cuban food. Highly recommended.
