This has become a favorite of our family for Tex-mex food made fresh. I always order the steak quesadilla and it never disappoints me. The fries are crispy, and there is plenty of sour cream to dip your quesadilla in. The service can be slower at times, but the servers are friendly and make you feel at home. The prices are decent, and the quality of the food matches the pricing on the menu. I'm not really sure how to rate this place . Sometimes I go and it's amazing food, other times it's meh. It's a typical sports bar type of a vibe and I believe they do drink specials while games are on and if a certain team scores, etc. The people are always friendly and nice. We sit at the bar area and we're usually greeted right away. One of our favorite things on the menu was the blackened mahi wrap they removed that on their new menu, but we went in there and we were able to get it ordered because they still have whitefish it might've been grouper, but I didn't care. I find that there is inconsistencies with the kitchen. Sometimes we would get the wrap and it would be perfect other times there was hardly any fish and it was mostly lettuce and others it was lacking the other things such as the salsa and the cheese, etc. They have a great taco happy hour. Everything is 4 to 6 dollars from 4 to 6 PM , and this is again sometimes they're amazing and sometimes they're just so so. Overall, for the pricing and the atmosphere and the location, especially for us is a good go to for us. I just wish they were more consistent with the kitchen. All of their well drinks on happy hour is five dollars so that's a good deal right there. I met a granddaughter here for a lunch while she was out on spring break and we enjoyed our lunch! It was my first time there and the decor was fun--decorated for St, Patrick's Day. Our server was Chloe and she was most attentive. My granddaughter ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadilla and I had a Drunken Wet Burrito (with alterations because of my onion allergy). Tried Back 40 Urban Fresh this past weekend and I'm glad I did. Great service, great food, great selection of beer, reasonable happy hour prices and a great place to spend that happy hour or watch a game. This is no dive bar though. Urban 40 was our Friday lunch date near home Johns and is also in St Johns county. It has the average bar feel. Out side seating, booth and a family style table for roasting and toasting. We both had the jerk chicken salad which was amazing. But watch out for the sour cucumber, alot of vinegar. I would add more jerk chicken to my salad. I even got a happy hour beer. Poor management and service and this used to be a weekly favorite of my son's but Back 40 had lost our business forever. We went for a late lunch there were very few people in the restaurant. Employees included. It took over 30 minutes and we never received our food. People who ordered well after us got their food. She was great! I ordered the buffalo chicken sliders (they were part of the game day special which is a burger, chicken, and pulled pork slider, but I was able to get all chicken). The sliders were the perfect amount of spicy, and the sweet potato fries were massive. I also ordered the house salad and couldn't believe how big it was! I just ordered a side portion but it was large enough to be a main. The house ranch was a great dressing to have with it. I'm not a huge fan of ranch in my salad (I usually go for vinaigrette), but our server recommended it as it's not as thick as other ranch dressings, and she was right! Popped in for fist time on a Sunday afternoon. We found the place bright, quiet and had many options. We sat at the bar and were served efficiently by our waitress, Emma. Started with the avocado app which was delicious and a lil spicy. I ordered the island bowl w/out jalapeños and onion and salad on the side. I enjoyed it and took more that 1/2 home. Hubby ordered burrito and managed to eat the whole thins as he had no breakfast. Everything was fresh and tasty. Emma was a delight. It was our first time at the Back 40. We found it fresh and family friendly. Service was good. They had a good selection of craft beers. We came just for lunch but it looks like they have trivia and live music some nights. The mojo tacos had good flavor. I thought the salsa was better than most. This was my first visit since Urban 40 moved into this location after replacing Saucy taco which started out very good but declined as time went on. I really enjoyed the healthy option I chose today. Grilled mahi-mahi wrap was amply filled with fish and flavor profile was well balanced. The pasta salad side I chose was also very good. Our fault for going there on Cinco de Mayo & Friday night- our server was also the host & the table bus (great hustle) he kept up with everyone considering the situation. He was observant of drink refills & knowledgeable about special dietary needs. I never thought of putting sweet potato fries on a corn tortilla but that's what they did & it was delicious. I couldn't eat the pretzel (I'll get a photo next time) but it was huge, fresh, smells amazing (like my husband's grandma makes home made donuts) and he liked it so much that we bought one home for the kids. After trying the OG Saint Augustine location years ago, I was excited to stop by this location after hearing they had a newly refreshed menu. It was a quiet Monday night and I was seated immediately. The ambiance was chill and friendly. I ordered the dynamite shrimp tacos which were served with chips and salsa. The salsa had a subtly-sweet taste which I loved and had some heat to it. These are some of the best shrimp tacos I've had to date simply because the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The shrimp was served on top of a bed of dynamite slaw. The shrimp was seasoned to perfection and hot and crispy. Overall, My total time spent in the restaurant clocked in at just under 20 minutes, and with super speedy service, great waitstaff and delicious tacos, I will definitely be returning. read more

It's a super cute cafe, very eclectic. Staff is friendly and the food is very fresh! Our son ordered the kids Mac and cheese with mandarin oranges and he wouldn't stop raving about it I ordered the avocado and peppers tacos and they were very flavorful and fresh (very saucy, if you don't like sauce or are trying to stay low calorie, ask for the sauce on the side). I also got the sweet potato side, would not recommend unfortunately. It was fresh but there was a chimichurri sauce that I wasn't expecting. I don't like chimichurri.
