I ordered the pickle back burger. It was good. My husband had the beef stew and was ok. The drinks were good. And the nachos were great. Our daughter ordered fried shrimp. It was "pretty good and really crispy and friedness" per her 11 year old review. We stopped in for a dinner before heading back to Jersey with family. It was rushed as it was late and their kids were over it. But overall seems like a really cool place and we'd definitely be back if we lived closer. read more

One out of four trips here on average is a good experience as a result. This isn't laid-back Florida let alone your friendly neighborhood Irish pub. Susan and I were invited to the Jameson Whisky Dinner at Fionn MacCool's, and even though we are not whisky drinkers, we couldn't pass it up. We are so glad we went. Fionn MacCool's is one of those places that immediately transports you. It feels like a true Irish pub, lively atmosphere, soccer on the TVs, great energy, and a bar that feels like the center of it all. The dinner itself was a full curated pairing experience with multiple courses and Jameson tastings, plus the history behind the brand, which made it even more enjoyable. The venison sliders were oversized, hearty, and packed with flavor. The sea scallops were perfectly cooked, and the blood pudding surprised us in the best way. The jumbo shrimp in creamy whiskey sauce over wild rice was excellent, but the real star of the night was the braised short ribs paired with Jameson Black Barrel. They were tender enough to cut with a fork and easily the best dish of the night. We ended with Irish coffee made with Jameson Cold Brew and sticky toffee pudding, which was the perfect finish. When on a work trip in Jacksonville, I googled to try to find a Spurs supporters pub and this location came up. I did notice that they don't always do watch parties, but took a chance. When my coworker and I came in, we asked them to put on a Telly since they didn't have a watch party for that match. They gladly accommodated and I was happy to be able to watch while enjoying the beautiful pub atmosphere of this location. Our waitress was the amazing Jenn and she offered some recommendations as we both have not been to this establishment. The onion rings are hand-breaded and made in house, so I highly recommend them if you stop in! They are massive and I used my pint of Guinness for scale. My coworker and I even split the wings to start, and they allowed sauce on the side with the different sauces so we could try. I really appreciate them doing so and my favorite was the buffalo as I prefer spicier wings. Lastly, we got the Guinness Beef Stew as my coworkers wanted a more traditional dish. The small bit I tried was delicious and she raved about the buttery beer bread. Overall, with or without a Spurs match, I'd pop in to this pub. I had not ever eaten at MacCool's but I had to pick up a med at the Bluebird Pharmacy very near it, so I went for lunch. I had a friend with me and we got a semi-booth (she has a walker so we needed a bit of room). Our waitperson was Ms. Carolyn and she steered me clear of anything onion (severe allergy)--so that's life-saving right there! My friend wanted a "deconstructed" Smash Burger and it came out just the way she requested. She liked it, and she especially liked the restaurant's signature potato-leek soup. I ordered a turkey, bacon, spinach, Irish cheese sandwich in a spinach wrap. I had a side of Cole slaw. All was tasty! Ms. Carolyn kindly fixed us "special" iced teas--I had Mango syrup in mine and my friend had Blueberries in hers. Delicious! We ordered the whiskey cake dessert but took it home--looks delicious, though! I liked the Celtic decor and there were plenty of TVs. I imagine it's really hopping in the evenings! The service was "leisurely," but it was okay because we chatted the time away. I suspect everything is made from scratch in the kitchen so that takes time! We were looking for a new place for dinner fairly close to Nocatee and decided to give this place a try. I am so glad we did because it was very good. The inside is much bigger than I expected with plenty of bar and table seating. The menu offers about a dozen appetizers, a dozen sandwiches and a dozen entrees. Our server recommendations were the shepherds pie, fish and chips, or reuben egg rolls. I went with her recommendation of the fish and chips and it did not disappoint. It was two large pieces of cod, along with a good size portion of fries and a small cup of peas. Everything tasted great and I even took one piece of fish home as leftovers. My husband had the Dubliner sandwich. It was corned beef, Swiss cheese, and Saerkraut on rye bread. He upgraded to onion rings as his side and they were huge and delicious. First time going here because we're never in this part of Route 1. We are going to make a point or if being on this part of Route 1 more after eating here. Inside Fionn MacCools is like going to Ireland to eat I'm guessing because Covid canceled our cruise to Ireland and we've never been there. Hopefully there's will be an update on this soon. The service was great and if a Guinness was close to being finished we were asked if we wanted another one. For a table appetizer we ordered the corned beef nachos. That was so delicious that my sons were in super vulture mode and I was ready to see a forking if one took more than another. It was gone in a blink of an eye. What I had was great. I had Bangers and Mash which I really enjoyed. My wife had the Fish and Chips. She really loved her meal. One son had the corned beef which he finished before I finished 2 sausages. My other son had the Turkey Ruben which he said was great with his mouth very full. My other son was still away at college but we plan on bringing him here during break. The meal was great but the highlight of the trip to Fionn MacCool's was the Irish Whiskey Cake. It's a must try. Next trip my wife was already picking the Shepherd Pie as here meal choice because it looks different than the regular way Shephard Pie is served. A real Irish pub. Fionn Mac's is like the Irish local pubs I've been to in NY. Definitely a place to come back & celebrate St. Patty Day. My husband wanted to go out to watch some college football games late Saturday afternoon. We decided to stay local. When you walk into FM's you know you're in an Irish bar. It's got dark furniture, Irish signs hanging up & huge beer & whiskey menu, all which looked very reasonably priced. You can see the 4 or 5 TVs that are set over the huge bar. There are many high top tables with stools in watching distance and table all around the perimeter of the restaurant. The menu is pretty " pubby" so don't expect to stay on a diet here. They do have about 5 types of salad choices. However, after slathering some of the best blue cheese dressing in Jax on a salad might not be the best low cal choice. Our adorable server dressed in knee Sox & a kilt brought us our appetizer which was a huge hot pretzel with the best beer cheese I have honestly ever had. We washed it down with some beer & wine. Next my husband ordered a bacon, cheese burger which came with fries. He said it was very good & cooked just the way he asked. I opted for wings. The wings were very large & too many for me to finish. I got half buffalo & have bbq. Their blue cheese dressing and I'll say it again is one of the best I've had here. We opted for dessert after hearing about the hot skillet chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. It was delicious & I was disappointed I had to share it. It was that good. I forgot to mention the menu has a whole page of Irish specialties including Shepherd's pie. And from 12-2 pm you can get a lunch portion of specific entrees with a salad, or fries for $10! Nice neighborhood restaurant, they have an authentic Irish ambiance, and everyone is super friendly and accommodating. They offer different daily specials and live music or trivia certain nights of the week. Thursday night trivia is pretty cool, if you are a trivia buff, you'll enjoy it. This time around we had the fish and chips, which was delicious, the soft pretzels because they are my favorite, and a burger. Everything was really good. Potatoes thick and chunky, Bangers were done on the 30th. and they just kept on cooking. I can't stop saying how bad this was. AH, the service was quick and polite. We ordered spinach drip at about 915 PM and it took 30 min (ordering from the bar) We arrived a bit after 830 PM as first time guests. Did not know what to expect for the dress code. Since we are on the most west end of Ponte Verde we didn't take a chance so I wore a sun dress and the hubby wore a button down shirt with jeans and nice shoes. I would say attire is all over the place I would say there was more women in nice summer dresses and men were in gold shorts and tshirts. The spinach dip was very delish. I had never had chopped fresh tomatoes with spinach dip before but it was very good. The garlic toast had too much salt for me but the hubby liked it. We both agreed it was very good. The drink prices are great. Like house wine (Coastal Vines) is only $6 a glass!! Enjoyed the watermelon margarita but it was a pre mix for sure. My hubby had a tropical leprechaun for kicks and it was good. It was a signature cocktail. He ordered an old fashioned as well but it was made with too much orange flavor he said but liked it fine. Went here for lunch today with my husband who is Irish, we travel to Ireland every year so we know about authentic Irish food. Server Angel was very friendly and attentive, and the ambience is very nice, large bar, lots of TVs with sports and Irish themed shows. That's very promising. Ordered Smithwicks beer, was cold and tasty, another plus. However, I had to give three stars because of the food. NOT traditional at all, which is fine I mean, as long as it tastes good but, for example, the sausage rolls were made with sausage that is not the type you would get from Ireland, it tasted like Italian sausage and was crumbly, but the pastry was flaky as one would expect. So OK, we're not in Ireland so I'll give that one a pass. My husband ordered the shepherds pie. It came out not what we were expecting AT ALL! I should've looked at yelp before going as someone has shared an image, but it looks like a calzone, with that same flaky pastry used in the rolls, with only a small portion of filling. A true shepherds pie has a large portion of meat and veg topped with mashed potatoes in a dish that is baked. so strike two. For the lunch special, the portion came with either salad or soup, he ordered the potato leek soup and he said it tasted good. I ordered beef stew with the Caesar salad, the salad was put in a small dish so it made it difficult to eat. Nothing fancy, but it tasted ok and the dressing was nice. But I was appalled at the beef stew if that's what you wanna call it. The carrots, potatoes and onions in it were al dente- crunchy! The beef was tough, not tender...it is almost like they cooked everything separately, and then combined them with gravy, not cooked all together as a traditional stew is done.
