I can only speak for the al pastor tacos! But a solid go to if you're in the area. The al pastor tacos were very flavorful, juicy and well marinated. Loved the spicy red salsa and their blend of pickled carrots, peppers and onions. As a heads up, they put the green (mild salsa) on the tacos automatically unless you ask otherwise. read more

Great find here on Oakland's Broadway just across the street from Chipotle! I've been here 4 times in 4 weeks. You can get a regular burrito for $10 but for an extra dollar it becomes deluxe with the additional of guac and sour cream. I've had the shrimp tacos which are currently my favorite. The shrimp are a nice size and perfectly cooked. Today was a chicken deluxe burrito with no beans and the pineapple agua fresca. While I can taste the lack of specific seasonings in the chicken, the amount is generous and cooked perfectly as well. The order took a little longer for some reason. It seems that each order is cooked to order versus having meat sit in a steam table. This is good! The agua fresca is 16 ounces for $3. That seems reasonable to me. So I felt like I should update my review because I've been eating here fairly regularly for the past 1.5 years now. They're a short walk from my place, so at first it was just about convenience. But they've honestly gotten so much better since my first couple of times that I gotta give credit where credit is due :) I always get the fish and shrimp, and occasionally steak too. I've been here about 6 times, usually the food is favorable but today, makes me decide it's not the food but the ignorance of the people serving it. I walked up and there was a young women, who you could tell was hungry, more than 13 people ignored her begging for any help. I asked her politely what she would like, then proceeded to or it. The woman in the truck said, they wouldn't serve he food because she was vagrant, I looked back at this physically and mentally challenged child of God smiling at me. I turned to the woman in the food truck, ordered a Chicken Quesadilla and a Pollo Burrito. She again said she's not going to serve the woman, I asked how much? She said $40.00, I asked for what? She said $40.00. So I paid it. The food came, in one bag, it should have totaled $29.50 but some how it was $40.00 my lesson of ignorance was non the less an eye opener. I sat with the young woman while she ate, very politely I excused my self to return to work. The women in the truck glared at me and were almost cat calling. I'll never go back there again. I've now seen the true Face of Hatred from a Culture that claims otherwise. read more

Been walking by this truck since I moved in the neighborhood in Dec 23 and kept meaning to stop in. I knew I should have kept walking. $13 for a veggie burrito was bad enough, but the fact that I had to wait nearly 15 min. for it with only two orders ahead of me, with three people working the truck, is literally the dumbest thing I can think of spending $13 on. As for the taste, its pretty much your average run of the mill burrito. Do yourself a favor and keep walking. Your money will be better spent at the Grocery Outlet where you can make yourself your own veggie burrito for a fraction of the cost and wait time. Why open a food truck if you're going to be way below average? Makes no sense how people are not more embarrassed about the cra+ they serve on a plate and call it food. Man so good when you can get it, but literally the most unreliable food operation in the Bay Area. Came today to get breakfast burrito, they say they serve till 11a, arrive at 1030, they say no breakfast burritos. Other times they are cash only for some inexplicable reason. Unclear why. I have been on the hunt for a good taco place in the Bay Area since I moved back from college. La Catrina was recommended to me and they did not disappoint! My friend and I got 5 tacos (4 carnitas and 1 carne asada) for $12 - a great deal for such amazing food! This place has the best carnitas tacos I have ever had, not to mention their fantastic customer service and it didn't take long to get our food either. Chicken taco Krunchi pretty easy but it comes with cheese and sour cream!!! So beware if you're lactose.. like I am. The crunchy shell had its own mildly greasy taste but it was good The reg. Taco was pretty small in my opinion but it did have two shells as usual I give their two salsa 5 starts I'm not sure how easy the meat was because the salsa gave them he whole meal life!!! Less than 5 stars because of the size of the reg taco and the little bitty lime and I also did not receive the carrots & peppers like in all the pictures. This taco truck does not deserve the hate from the Karen's. Every time I have been here it's ran by women, and they do an excellent job as the food is always consistently fresh and tasty. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get your food as they prepare everything to order. Absolutely my favorite taco truck probably ever. My favorite is their el pastor and their shrimp and it's so cheap!!! $2 for reg tacos and 2.50 for seafood tacos. I've had nachos here. Meh. They were good. But the real winner is the tacos. I usually don't like eating with my hands because I'll usually eating and doing something else at the same time, so I need clean hands. But I make an exception for these tacos. I like to eat, so usually, I will order 4 tacos, but 3 for the average person. They make them pretty big, so I'll get a fork and eat some of the toppings off, and then dig into my tacos. My work can wait while I devour these delicious tacos. I love their carne asada and grilled chicken. And with 4 taco, why choose? Get them all. My coworkers have raved about the burritos too. La Catrina is your best bet for deliciously authentic tacos on this side of town! Served out of a food truck on Broadway, you'll consistently find a line during the lunch hour rush. If you know what you want, be sure to call your order in ahead of time! Tacos are only $2 a pop for basic meats like steak and pork, and $3 for shrimp or fish. If you have an average appetite, I find that three is the perfect number to order. The tacos are a bit oily, but they have great flavor and a good amount of meat/toppings on a double corn tortilla. They also come with lime wedges and pickled carrots and jalapenos on the side. I've been meaning to try their burritos, but always end up with a full plate of tacos instead...someday. La Catrina isn't quite a destination spot, but they're a solid pick for good Mexican food and a go-to spot for those who work nearby! read more
