This place is SHADY and they increase the price without telling you! We called in to see if they had availability and they told us to come in at 10:30am. We had 2 pedicures, one for me and one for my husband. I specifically told them I wanted regular polish and not gel bc lefts face it were all struggling with inflation. Getting JUST a pedicure is a small luxury I like to treat ourselves once in a blue moon. For 2 pedicures it cost $74 - one pedicure had NO POLISH. I asked for a receipt for a breakdown and they just gave me a list with options and the final price. WHERE WAS THE BREAKDOWN?! I usually don't write reviews, but after three days of pain, I feel compelled to warn others. I went in for a simple pedicure with gel polish and left with a potentially infected toe. The experience was disappointing from the start--the water was freezing cold, and the entire service felt rushed. I was in the chair for maybe 15 minutes before the technician cut a portion of my big toe. She then attempted to stop the bleeding by applying nail glue, despite my request to clean it and apply a bandage instead. To make matters worse, I was charged $55 for this subpar service, which is more than I've paid elsewhere for much better care. After leaving, I had to purchase bandages and alcohol from CVS to properly clean the wound myself. As someone who works on their feet for 8+ hours a day, this has been incredibly frustrating, especially since I've recently moved and don't have in-state insurance yet. I may now need to see a doctor because of this ordeal. I strongly advise others to reconsider before booking a service here. read more

So disappointed in how my nails turned out. I saw the owner Jimmy and all I can say is this is a awful rushed job. My last picture is what I wanted I asked for black French with a solid nail and he did all French. He only used one coat of black polish so they look like they are a dark blue. I called ahead of time and was seated right away . It was fine until 30 minutes in . The guy working grew very impatient and aggressive while he was doing my nails . I have been here several times my issue with this salon is they severely overcharge you . They don't stick to what prices are listed and make sure you bring cash if you come here. There is no sign nor do they tell you ahead of time that they only take cash . When I told the guy I had a debit card I was greeted an an attitude and asked if I can go withdraw money I said I was in a rush and didn't have time . I have been going to La Chic for years and realized I've never raved about them online before. I tell everyone who compliments my nails about La Chic but you ladies and gents who don't know me deserve to get put on to the best nail shop in the Newport-Middletown area. They recently got new nails that are already pre coffin shaped so it makes getting a new set go so much faster (wayyy less filing). They almost always have the color you want in regular polish and in gel. I like to get my acrylics with gel because I use my hands alot and if I get regular polish it fades and chips fast. But on my toes I don't like getting gel unless it's summer time and those bad boys are out and about, so it's nice to have the option to match without having to get the same type of polish. They are quick and efficient. Called at 12:35pm and got my appointment for 1pm, was out of the salon by 2:45pm. I had a reg pedicure, acrylic removal, and a full set with gel polish. The total came to $94. I believe they have raised their prices since I started going a few years back but they are quality. Also times are tough but they take all precautions with COVID. They have glass shields up and only about 4 employees in the salon at a time. They also ask to take your temperature before sitting. If you can't tell, I love them. Even when I am busy and slacking on getting them done I've never received as many compliments on nails that were 3+ weeks old from any other salon. read more

This was a terrible place! The staff was so rude and didn't listen to anything I asked. I called before hand and asked how much an acrylic fill with regular polish was and they said $18. When I got there they said its $5 to remove the polish I had on.. ok?? It's a "change" not a full set. Obviously I had polish on. They said $10 because I had long nails.. ok sure. And then I asked for 2 colors with NO design and that was an extra $5 because I wanted more than one color. Then the color wasn't even similar to the one I had picked out on the displayed set because the bottle was CHEAP. I ended up only doing one color and she made me pay before I finished my nails and refused to refund me the $5 she charged for 2 colors even though I got one and said "it wasn't that much more." Also did a TERRIBLE job. Never again going there. Terrible staff and terrible job. read more

I used to get my nails done here or there, anywhere I wanted to try, and found that the reason I never really kept up with them was because I would leave feeling like they were just okay and not exactly what I was going for. I am really happy to say, I always leave La Chic so happy--and in fact, started going there when I was enamored by someone else's nails and wanted to know where they had gotten them done. Jennifer, my manicurist, listened to my particularities and she exceeded my expectations and was able to achieve exactly what I had had in mind. Her work is wonderful with attention to detail and a flawless finish. I hope every girl can walk out of their nail salon feeling the little pep in their step as I do after being well taken care of in this great salon! My sister's wedding party all wanted to get their nails done together so we booke an appointment in. Although they got us all in ( 6 of us ), they took walk-ins at the same time, leaving some of our girls to wait. The foot soak was nice, but that was about the end of it. They spoke in a different language the entire time without trying to engage any of us in conversation at any point in time. They rushed and left small mistakes outside my nail beds. There was even an argument with another client while we were there. No reparations were made to that client and she left very angry. Awful! I got a gel manicure here and the man that did it was very rude. He was rushing the entire time and made many mistakes. He was very rough and hurt me during the whole process. On top of all of that, I noticed when I was waiting for my nails to harden... he never cleaned the tools after my manicure and gave the next person a manicure with dirty tools. After leaving another nail salon very disappointed, I decided to try this little nail salon. And, Im glad I did! I received the best looking manicure yet. But, it doesn't include a back massage, which I was hoping for. Also, as I was about to leave, I asked to get my eyebrows waxed since she had done such a nice job on my nails.. But, another girl did my eyebrows and I was not too impressed.. She waxed them, plucked them, then when I expected her to be finished she started CUTTING my eyebrows.... I've been coming here for years and have always left very happy. I went in yesterday for a full set of acrylics. The man that did them, not the owner, rushed the entire time and hit my skin with the electric file so many times that my fingertips are extremely sore and cut up. As i was washing my hands before the polish, the man that did them was at the sink next to me and he started washing his face in the sink... then he spit! In the sink right next to me! That customers use! Completely disgusting. And to top it off, he had an open cut on his finger without a bandage on it while doing my nails. I had the worst time at this nail salon. Our trip consisted of my friend and I making eye contact laughing about how awful our service was. We both asked for French gel manicures and regular polish on our feet. After sitting down in the pedicure chairs, she began to paint my toes with no scrub, lotion, not even the water in the foot tub being drawn, while my friend was getting a normal pedicure, even though we asked for the same thing. I waited to confront her on it till my toes dried because there was nothing to do about it. She began my French gel and did not get what I was trying to say to her at all. She continued to make the white tip large after multiple times of me asking for them to be a bit shorter. With each nail she had to wipe away the nail polish all over my fingers. Like a child did it. I asked if we could finish my pedicure and she was happy to do so but seemed like she knew that she tried to gip me at first. The scrub on my legs was almost painful.
