This place was quietly tucked away on a side road shopping area. I'm visiting Newport and needed to get a fill done and this is where I landed. The staff was extremely nice and took such good care of me. While I waited, I sat in the pedicure chair and enjoyed a nice little massage. I also was offered a neck warmer which really helped take the pressure off my shoulders. The conversation with the nail tech was very natural and refreshing. Sometimes I hate just sitting there and trying to find an odd place to stare. (Ha Ha). Overall for the price my nails came out as expected. The shape was SPOT on which is the biggest issue I typically have. This time it was the curing of my polish. There were several bumpy/flaky areas which kind of made my nails look weird. My gel manicure turned out poorly. It was rushed, is peeling after less than 24 hours, only part of my nail is painted with a lot of gaps without polish, and my cuticles weren't cut. read more

Arrived just after lunch on a Wednesday to ask if they could do 3 pedicures. Was able to accommodate. Pleasant and friendly people here. No pain, no cutting into the cuticle. Good pressure on the foot work. For a simple pedicure it was solid. Wished it could have had a longer foot massage component but that probably would have cost more. Chairs were comfortable and the massage worked although the chairs themselves are showing their age. I would come back again. read more

I made an appointment for 12:30 today just under a week ago. Showed up 10 minutes early to the appointment and the store is closed. Even though their Facebook, yelp, and Google all state open. That's fine I waited for 15 minutes past my appointment. Still no one showed up. I called multiple times to ensure that maybe I wasn't crazy with the lights being off and the door being locked. No one answered the phone, as expected. I wish I could review their actual business and I hope nothing came up as a family emergency but a simple message on their Facebook or a message the way I scheduled and confirmed my appointment would have been appreciated. read more

If you work with only Samaira here, this place is 5 stars, easily. Sam is diligent, attentive, and oh-so-considerate. Her friendliness is genuine, and she's a delight to speak with at length. Unfortunately, you don't always get Sam. I've had her other sisters as nail techs, and ... the experience was sub-par, or even uncomfortable. One sister called me over to the pedi-chairs, then got a text on her cell phone. She kept me standing there, waiting, for three minutes, while she finished a text conversation. Doesn't sound like a lot, until you think: A) I had all my stuff (jacket, satchel, sandals, etc.) in my hand, standing in the middle of the room, looking like an abandoned prom date, and B) what TEXT MESSAGE is ever URGENT? what TEXT can't wait literally 20 seconds, until you put the client in the chair and start soaking their feet? That same session, that same sister kept chatting up other family members who walked in, ignoring what she was doing so much that she nearly drew blood, continuing to pumice the same spot on my foot for too long. I came in intending to get the longer, better service when I walked in, but by that point, I was just trying to get out of there as soon as possible. (That day, the "basic" still took an hour of cursory, desultory service. YUCK.) Based on just the sisters, this place would sink to a 1-star rating. However, if you call and try Samaira (and ONLY her), you will NOT be disappointed. read more

Nope. Nope. Nope. I came back to this location after my first experience was great. Second time around I got my eyebrows threaded and almost cried because my eyebrows were gone! The girl who did my threading told me I came in like that and she tried to fix it. Nope nope nope. I'm SO happy I just found my favorite 2 Pakistani gals, Sam & Sid, that used to work at Angel nails on Broadway!!!! This place just opened a few weeks ago, its SUPER clean, fresh, and these two girls do an amazing job. Their Back/neck massages out do ANYONE on the island. Seriously. We were literally welcomed w open arms upon entry. I'm so happy I now have a clean and friendly place that I don't feel rushed! I love this place so much that I hesitate in sharing this gem with the world - I want it all to myself :) I stumbled upon this salon on a random night a few months back (it was the salon's 2nd day in operation) and boy am I glad I did! Not only is it brand new, clean, and relaxing, but Sam and her sister have got to be the best nail techs I have ever met! I travel a lot for work and have had my nails done all over (including the high price NYC salons) nothing compares to Glam Nails! Sam pays serious attention to every detail and her massage is out of this world! So far I have had multiple gel manicures (that last), multiple pedicures, and my eyebrows threaded. All of the above services were top notch and I walk out feeling that I got more than I paid for! The girls are super friendly, they work very hard, and you will instantly feel like family. I really liked this place. I had regular pedicure, shellac manicure and eye-brown threading with Sam. Sam was great to work with. She listened to my requests and was very nice. As other said, she is friendly, attentive and diligent. My nails look great and my eye-browns look great too. The only thing that I did not appreciate was that she and her sister were speaking in what I believe was Urdu for a great deal of time and laughing. I am Brazilian and get it that sometimes I want to speak my language, but I find it extremely unpolite when I see people doing in front of customers. I always try avoiding it, as it make others feel uneasy and uncomfortable - so I am sadly taking one star for that reason. If this is something that doesn't bother you, you will have an awesome experience. Service wise, Sam was awesome!! The other thing is that based on the location of the salon (East Main Rd) and what it looks like (in comparison with some of the cute places in Downtown), it is a bit overpriced. I paid $72 for everything, which I am used to paying at a place with complimentary champagne and macaroons in downtown DC. Not sure of how much other places in Newport cost...so if you live here, you can probably tell better. read more

I'm so glad I found this place! This will be my nail and eyebrow salon as long as I live in Newport. I've been getting shellac manicures for years in San Diego. Since moving here 8 months ago, I've tried two places in Newport that were ranked highly on Yelp. Star Nails on Bellevue used a dremmel sander (not sure if that's the right term?) to sand off my shellac, what the?! painful and unnecessarily damaging to my nail bed, not to mention I felt rushed and ignored by my manicurist the whole time, then charged premium pricing. The other was Angel Nails on Broadway - the manicure didn't even last 48 hours, need I say more. The girls at Glam Nails are very friendly, treat you very well and, most importantly, pay impeccable attention to detail and doing things right. For instance, they SOAK off shellac, the way it's supposed to be done. For my pedicure, she made sure all my calluses were gone, and for both the mani and pedi she carefully got all the way along the sides of your nails, something I've found some places skip or rush through. The result is, even after 7 days of being very hard on my hands my manicure looks amazing! No chips, just a little wear at the tips. The eyebrow threading came out beautifully as well, they paid attention to the shape I asked for and it turned out! They also give you a shoulder massage at the end of your manicure - for no extra cost! Only 4 stars instead of 5 because the space needs some decorating and marketing help, and because I couldn't get a manicure and pedicure at the same time since they were both busy, so it took longer than I'm used to. But the quality of the service and attention to customers outweighs these. read more

The salon is very quiet. The salon didn't smell like the strong odor of nails like normal, so that was nice. They could brush up on the look of the "waiting" chairs, but they were comfortable. Magazines and lollipops available for waiting customers. I got a full set, and I hate to say it but it looked terrible. I ended up going to the mall the next day to get them fixed. But my friends got mani/pedi and they were happy. So I would just get something basic if you come here. read more

Thought I would check this place out because of the great reviews. I was a walk-in, and I expected to wait a little bit. Upon walking in, I received two dirty looks as if I was intruding. They said they were busy and it is better for me to make an appointment. They did not even offer for me to wait. Funny, because their door says in large letters "WALK INS WELCOME". Well, walk ins most certainly are not welcome at this salon.. And if you try this place out you should definitely make an appointment. Maybe they are great, and maybe other people love it here. Not a fan. I was in town for work and wanted to get a pedicure so naturally I yelped for what was near my hotel. This salon popped up. When I got there I told the woman I wanted a pedicure and asked how long the wait was. She told me 10 minutes. A few minutes later she came back and said the wait was actually 20 minutes. I figured I could wait a little longer, but really wasn't wanting to wait longer than 20 minutes. Finally once I had been waiting for 30 minutes I told them I was going to go. The girl jumped up and said she was ready to take me. Considering I waited for 30 minutes, I decided to stay. But I will not be coming back. To the owner and women that work at this salon, if you tell a customer the wait is 20 minutes and it looks like it is going to take longer than 20, it is customary to let the customer know. Acknowledge the fact that they have been waiting. Apologize for the wait. Ask them if you can get them anything. Anything would have been appreciated and perhaps changed my experience, and subsequently, my review. On top of that, they don't play any music or have a TV so it was quite boring as I was 30 minutes for my pedicure. I think they play a cd with birds chirping or something, but it's so faint you can hardly hear it. For the record, I thought the pedicure was fine. Slightly overpriced, but it sounds like $30 is the going rate for pedicures in Middletown. Just was surprised because I pay ~$22 for a pedicure in San Diego. I'll make sure to get my pedicures in San Diego before I travel out here for work again. Lesson learned. read more

Wow! This place is great! The ladies are so nice and they did a wonderful job. My sister and I got pedicures (she got gels and I got a spa pedicure) and they were both amazing. Seriously, this was the best pedicure I've ever had. Ever! They did my sister's eyebrows and they look amazing. They were very meticulous and paid attention to every detail. I was a last-minute appointment on a day when I had already been to two other nail salons that couldn't take me. Glad to find this spot. Sid did my mani-pedi. She was thorough, gentle, careful and professional. She explained what she was doing and did not try to upsell me. The mani-pedi was $40 which seems fair. This is not one of those mass-production, cheapo nail salons. They take care and charge a little more. I'll definitely be back for nail care and maybe other services, too. read more
