Ok Hideaway really doesn't do it justice. More like Tony's Secret Garden! You have to drive off the beaten path to find the door. Once you arrive the welcome, the food, and the service is first class. Climb the steps to the 2nd floor and maybe someone will be sitting there to tell you to go on up to the 3rd floor. Wonderful view overlooking the rooftops of Mismaloya. The "menu" is a platter of all the actual choices, including lobster, huge shrimp, kabobs, steaks and more. Holy crap! Amazing! Herman was our waiter, the son of Tony! I recommend taking the SECOND turn to the top of the hill instead of the first. A little more user friendly.
Second time to Garza Blanca and second trip back to La Choza Tony's Hideaway for dinner. It's a one of a kind dining experience. I wish we were able to get back there more!! We will be back again! The customer service is unmatched. 5 stars We took a taxi from Garza Blanca and back.
Wonderful place to eat. Amazing service. Delicious food. Followed by a speciality Mexican coffee. The restaurant sits on the top overlooking mismaloya. It was the best place to have our last night dinner
Elmar was super friendly. Gave us the skinny of the place and the town. His grandmother made the best food. The menu is literally a tray of meat that you pick from. Wish we ventured out earlier to this place. Definitely worth the 10min walk from resort.
This place was off the beaten path and a true hidden gem. Our friends who were staying at Barcelo heard about this place and invited us. We got in a taxi and headed to Mismaloya. On first impression we had no clue where the taxi driver was taking us, bumped along a nice cobblestone road and he dropped us in front of the sign. The restaurant was shockingly empty and truly after our experience couldn't understand why it wasn't a packed house in there, it was such a great experience. We had a big group and the menu is presented to you on platter, it's an assortment of seafood and meats. We requested "whatever is on that platter, take it to the back, stick it in the oven and bring it back out" The margaritas were incredible on top of the food and we had the opportunity to meet Tony himself. Truly recommend this place for a unique PV experience!!!
Found this place before coming to Puerto Vallarta and came in on a Sunday night when it was very quite. Live menu was presented on a platter and we chose entire platter. We were not disappointed. Everything was soooo good! A little backstory: we came with three kids, picky eaters, allergists. Everyone had something that they absolutely loved. More than that the service was top notch. Owner and waiter (owners nephew) treated us like family. They let kids wear the sombrero they had and took pictures of us for memories. A couple of days later, Caesar and Porfirio took us to their second family restaurant on a secluded beach. Food there is just as amazing! Everyone loved their guacamole, fried fish and octopus. I can go on and on but better come and check it out yourself. This is the real Puerto Vallarta experience that will be very missed.
We had a late lunch at La Choza, and must say that the service was 110%. We had a party of 8 and we tried almost all their dishes. From different shrimps, fried fish, steak and lobster. The food was delicious and the attention to detail was spectacular. The Staff was very welcoming and attentive to our every need. We met Tony the owner and his son Tony, they were very easy to talk too and we stayed a little longer to get other restaurant recommendations in Vallarta, Bucerias and Suyelita. Would definitely return!

Once we went to third level we found a very nice eating area. The service was as top notch and the food even better. We didn't know really want to expect but loved that their menu was just a big platter showing you the fresh catches of the day. Hubby had mahi mahi, I had the shrimp combo with three types of shrimp. Kids were a bit less adventurous with the chicken and they did have a quesadilla option for our daughter. The chips and guacamole and salsa were perfect! Everything was so delicious and completely unexpected based on location but amazing! We are here for a bit so we will go back again. Lobster for the next trip and filet. Cash only. They did call a taxi for us when we were done.

Third-floor balcony, tables over sand, hidden dirt road alley way, It's a gem. The waiters are all dressed in white. The music is contemporary modern, and the menu is a plate of the fresh-caught food of the day. You just point what you want and let's roll. ONLY CASH. That's the only reason I don't leave 5 stars. Very well priced. We ordered the whole fish grilled and the coconut shrimp. OH MY SWEET MISMALOYA! the shrimp was exquisite. BE READY TO WAIT for your meal, it takes some time. They are cooking it soo fresh and there are only two ladies in the kitchen. I can't wait when we go back to dine here again.
Best food family owned real deal great service from multi generation family..Lobster was excellent and don't forget the jumbo prawns came with chips salsa salad and rice dinner bread also ...Desert was Flan very good a must to eat
My wife and daughters stopped in for lunch on Tuesday afternoon and it was absolutely terrific. It was early and we were the first group of the day but the attention from the owner/manager was amazing. The food was great and very fresh....they even accommodated our young ones with some quesadillas. The margaritas were excellent and so was the coconut shrimp! We cannot say enough great things about this place!

The ambiance is a beautiful experience but the food & service are even better. I'm very picky about chicken but I'm not a big seafood or red meat eater. I was very pleasantly surprised how juicy it was, even without the tropical sauce to pour over. All of my family also raved about their filet mignon & red snapper. We all enjoyed the sides a lot too. It's a little hidden gem! We will be back next time we are in Vallarta. read more
A great place to have a special dinner outside of the crowded touristy area of Puerto Vallarta walking distance from mismaloya beach. We took a 20 minute Uber ride to have a beach day outside of zona Romantica where we were staying. We decided to leave because we were hungry and realized that one of the restaurants we bookmarked was just a 10 minute walk and decided to check it out. We were there celebrating a special birthday so we wanted to have one nice dinner and this is the place we chose. We got there around 5 PM and we were the only ones there on a Saturday but it was off-season (Aug) so PV in general was pretty quiet. We were welcome by a friendly man who took us to the top floor with a mountain beautiful view which actually was a nice change from the ocean. The greenery was beautiful. This restaurant is known for their seafood and boy was it fresh. They don't have a specific menu, but rather they bring out a tray of their fresh selection of the day. Everything was beautiful and the shrimp was gigantic. We opted for the red snapper, lobster and the large shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. Oh, and I have to make a point of mentioning their margaritas. Fresh fruit margaritas... So yummy. We tried the mango margarita with fresh mangoes and strawberry margarita as well. I just love drinks made with fresh fruits. I think it was my favorite margarita of the entire trip. I do highly recommend you check this place out. The food is phenomenal and the service is wonderful. The 20 minute Uber ride cost about US$15 so well worth it, especially if you do a beach day and make a day of it. read more

Amazing food! Don't judge the restaurant by the town as it looks old and in the middle of nowhere. CASH only and no menu.....just a platter of what they serve....fresh fish, filet mignon and shrimp. We had the grilled jumbo butterflied shrimp and the coconut shrimp. Both were so good! There service was great and the wait staff were very friendly. Reasonably priced as well! You will not be disappointed! read more

It's exactly what they say. It is a hideaway. Don't give up it's worth it. We had the red snapper dolphin and 2ea of the 3 shrimp they offer. Everything was amazing. Margarita and mojito were probably the best we ever had. Our waiter was helpful and was a friend at the end of the meal. Would give more stars if I could. Sorry about the pics I don't normally leave reviews but this place was exceptional! read more

We were recommend to Tony's when a nearby restaurant was closed at 6 when online said they close at 8. We arrived and were greated by the owner, Tony and he sat us at the top floor with the most amazing view. They brought out the fresh seafood they had and provided the special of the day. We all ordered the same plate, a shrimp combination plate - 2 coconut shrimp - 2 butterfly shrimp - 2 bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with cheese I forgot to mention these were all JUMBO shrimp . Served with rice, mashed (super bomb, my fav) and delish warm garlic bread with side of salad. We also ordered the aguachile de camaron . Best we have had so far. Perfect touch of spiciness, lemon and again jumbo shrimp . We are most deff coming back for the aguachile!! Thank you Tony and your wonderful staff. They welcomed us and took great care of us !! Give them a try you wont regret it . Business hours 11-11 And they will call ur cab to take u back to town if you need a ride back. Very humble people, true gem in the jungle read more

I went two days in a row which should demonstrate how I feel about this place. The service was impeccable. The menu is delivered on a tray and included fresh lobster, bacon wrapped shrimp, garlic shrimp, mango coconut shrimp, shrimp kabobs, beef kabobs, filet mignon, mahi mahi, red snapper, and chicken, I had the bacon wrapped shrimp, shrimp kabob, beef kabob, mahi mahi, and garlic shrimp. The bacon shrimp was far and away the winnner. The upstairs dining room overlooks the huts of Mismaloya. They're also dog-friendly! You will spend more to eat here but I thought it was worth every penny. It's hidden on a side street to the left as you head off of El Eden. Look for the faded sign and...you're welcome. read more

On a quiet Tuesday night in March, we went to Tony's because so many people recommended it. The service was so friendly, and the seafood was amazing (and I hate it when people overuse the word 'amazing', but it absolutely applies here). We discovered that the restaurant only takes cash, so know that before you go. However, when we told our server, Porfirio, that we only had credit cards, he said 'I can drive you to the ATM, or we can work it out with your hotel. Tony wants everyone to be treated like family here', and we were. If you have the opportunity to eat at Tony's, you absolutely should. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Porfirio and Tony and everyone there. It was a perfect meal. read more

We found this wonderful little place far back against the mountain in the sleepy little village of Mismaloya, a few blocks up from the Barcelo. We were looking at a home for sale and while we were standing on the street a friendly lady beckoned us to come inside to see her restaurant. It is a family run business, 3 floors high with sand floors, very unassuming from the street. There are beautiful views of the Mismaloya valley which is the way to El Eden and the Prefator movie set a couple of miles up the road. The "menu" was an amazing tray of raw gourmet food, from which you choose which dishes they will prepare for you, 3 types of shrimp, snapper, mahi, steak kabob, etc. The margaritas were large and delicious along with the chips and guacamole. The 5 of us shared our entrees and they were all yummy. Service was great and attentive, with Tony himself greeting us. read more
