The food use to be really good but unfortunately that changed. I went here about two weeks ago and placed an order. The food had absolutely no taste. To top that off I had old food in my drink. I assume the dishwasher didn't do a good job. When I told the waiter about my issues he apologizes but charged me for the drink. read more

I prefer La Cocina in Holly Hill mall oppose to any other Mexican place in town. The service is great. The food is yummy. The prices are good. Lastly the alcoholic drinks are huge and will get you feeling good. I hope this helps! read more

Not good food. Tried the chile verde pork carnitas and it was really bad. The chips and salsa are OK, and tasted fresh. They have a bar that looks fun (didn't try it; it was Sunday afternoon) and some seriously aggressive HH specials. Go for cheap mexican beer, and do not eat the food unless you just got off of one of those Alaskan fishing boats and really need a change of pace. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Burlington and the surrounding area. I eat here once every 1-2 weeks for the past year. They have a very large menu with delicious options to include a vegetarian section. They also have a large selection of margaritas and beer. La Cocina has been my go to for many reasons: 1. The salsa and chips that comes free when you sit down it excellent. It is spicy and fresh. 2.Margaritas are delicious! I like the frozen but my partner likes on the rocks and we are never dissatisfied. Only complaint is that the flavored margaritas (i.e. peach, strawberry) are very sweet. The margaritas are very strong so be careful! The "medium" is actually their extra large so be careful with the wording there. 3. The food is delicious. I love to get the ACC (shrimp with queso and rice). I order the half portion and it is a lot of food for $8.95. I can't imagine who could eat a whole portion. I have also tried every one of the vegetarian options (A-G) and I love them all. 4. The service is great. It always comes out really quick too, a big plus when you don't want to waste time on your lunch break. The servers are all really nice (some need a little English help) and will get to know you by name if you got here enough. Also of note, there is always a drink special. Wednesday night is $1 beer night with a cold mug of draft beer to include shock top. Pretty good deal. The place is a typical Mexican joint. Nothing Special. It is HUGE inside if you are looking to accommodate a lot of people. They even have a private room that can be used for parties. There is a descent sized outdoor seating area for warm weather. I really like sitting outside and service is still excellent out there. There are also TVs that usually play european soccer. It is located in a strip mall and there is plenty of parking outside. If you haven't been here in a while, they increased their prices again about a year ago. Still pretty cheap overall. The price does not deter me. read more

Frequent customer of Huffman Mill Rd location. Had a discount card used several times at this location. I forgot to give waiter. He refused to adjust the bill & apply discount card. They were not busy. A different restaurant ... not Mexican, knows the friends I'm with & know I have discount card & they automatically apply discount. read more

So far, so good. Went for the first time today for lunch. My husband ordered the "Chori Pollo" which was DElicious. Seriously good chorizo, nice and juicy with that little bit of char-grilled flavor...so tasty. I had the Yolandas chicken enchiladas. Pretty standard. Will return! read more

On the 4th of Nov. '16. I took my family to eat at La Cocina like we've done so many times in the past. After getting to the bottom of my chip bowl I found a cockroach leg. I am 100% positive it was the leg from a cockroach because I was immediately able to reference the barbs and such on it online with online pics of cockroach legs. I've always enjoyed eating there but it's going to take some time before I can work up the stomach nerve to go back. Sorry for the bad review but they are probably shipping those chips in from Mexico with little to no FDA regulation on them hence the cockroach leg. By the way: I will pass a lie detector test if challenged. read more

Good solid Mexican food. We eat there pretty often. Nobody has ever started smoking around us but we don't eat outside where smoking is obviously OK. William you should eat inside where smoking is NOT allowed. Your smoke experience was your own fault not the restaurants. read more

Wow! The chicken quesadilla was the best I have ever had! The service was good and the value was good. The restaurant's atmosphere was average and it was located in a mall. Oh god, I would not rate this as a 4 star restaurant. I would only go to this spot for drinks and watching soccer games but definitely NOT for the food. I went with a group and saw a lot of people and thought that this should've been a decent place. Well, to start off our wait was supposed to be 25 minutes. It was about 3. I was excited - I thought maybe this may be a great restaurant. I ordered La Mejor. When I got it it looked like La Peor! The quesadilla looked like it was thrown together and there was absolutely no cheese on it. I'm not a chef, but I would've volunteered myself to go back there and cooked my own. The burrito was a bunch of ground beef without ANY cumin or any of the spices and seasonings that you think would be in there. But, I did receive my bill for 9 dollars. I've had some pretty cheap Mexican food for UNDER 9 dollars that tasted better. I would find another place to go instead of this joint. If you know what is good for you then you'll stay away, if not you'll be in the restaurant thinking "THIS is MEXICAN"? read more

I have been to this restaurant on 2 different occasions at 2 different locations. On the first trip, the biggest thing i was unhappy with was the god awful Margarita I ordered. I literally took 2 sips out of the huge glass and couldn't finish the rest. I did not get my money back because there were no refunds on alcohol. The ACP was okay but I've had much better. The salsa was terrible. On the second trip, we did get seated fairly quick but that was the only positive thing. We were originally just there for drinks but I decided to order some food. I ordered a half plate of ACP and never got it. Literally the entire time we were there i never received the food. The reason I didn't reorder it was because I was already getting full from the chips and salsa, cheese dip, and guacamole. Again, I was very disappointed with the salsa, it tastes like a really spicy tomato sauce. No onions, no cilantro, no texture or anything, and it just did not taste fresh at all. Whatever recipe they are using is terrible. The guacamole also tasted pretty bad. Again, no onions or cilantro. It almost tasted old. The cheese was mediocre at best. I was also very disappointed with the pitcher of Margarita we shared. It was not that good. Also, someone at the table ordered wings and fries for everyone that were actually delicious. (How ironic that the best food I had at a mexican restaurant was french fries and wings) but they did not bring us any napkins until we were halfway done with the wings. At the end, at least I didn't get charged for the ACP that I ordered. Honestly the only reason I went back the 2nd time was because I was going to give it another shot to see if it was just the location I didn't like. And I was invited by some people from school. Ultimately I will probably never go back to this restaurant. Very very disappointed. read more

This restaurants service is TERRIBLE! While being seated the host/waiter threw our menu's on the table and walked away. My husband and I ordered our drinks, but my husband does not like ice in his beverage. All the waiter heard was water and walked away. When he brought our drink order, which was completely wrong, I corrected him and he rolled his eyes and snatched the drink from the table. I watched him throw the glass into the drink machine. I felt as if my business was not welcome so we walked out of the restaurant. I would never give this restaurant another chance. read more

Out of the can Mexican food, if you order anything with shredded beef then be sure to check it for artery's and miscellaneous "parts". No bs, the last taco I got had artery's in it, I couldn't get past it after I saw that. read more
