[[HIGHLIGHT]]People were friendly and I noticed a fair amount of indoor seating with outlets for people working away on laptops.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The pastry food options looked good and I really enjoyed the ham and cheese croissant. My only complaints were that the specials sign was kind of hidden away from the main menu so I didn't see it until after ordering and the iced latte wasn't integrated, the syrup, coffee, and milk being in separate layers, which I suppose has a visual appeal, but when you're on the go, I'm not trying to mix my coffee myself. read more

This was the best coffee we had on the east coast and probably makes my top ten on taste alone. We got a simple vanilla late and it was perfect. Not too sweat, very rich, creamy and a nice consistency. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is pretty top notch as well. The natural lighting, huge ceilings, wooden barel designs, and a twist on modern designs[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even with how busy it is, there is usually a good amount of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That being said, it is busy. The line wrapped around the display area but it went fast. The staff was friendly and pretty fast for how many people were there. They have a Woodfire oven for pizza too which goes to show the quality of the food as well. Overall it's a top notch coffee shop that we will go to every weekend while we are here. read more

One of the best local businesses of Philly. Good coffee and is part of the community. I always see them giving out free coffee at Rittenhouse Park! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only issue is it's very crowded there is never space to sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And I wish they didn't charge for milk subs. read more

Surprisingly I've only been here once even though I pass by this and other locations pretty frequently. When we first arrived, it wasn't too busy and it was easy to get seats. La Colombe is a wonderful cafe spot with a full bodied, smooth coffee. Their almond croissants are the best I've had in the city. I'm not sure who the supplier is but they are much better than Au fornil's croissants sold in a number of Philly cafes. These croissants are so generously stuffed with yummy almond frangipane which I really appreciate. The mocha had a nice chocolate flavor and wasn't too sweet. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the danish very much since it had a sweet flavor. The cookie was hard the day I got it so didn't finish it. La Colombe is french for Dove and the coffee here sure gave me wings! As someone who remembers the early days of La Colombe's canned coffees (I swear that oat milk canned coffee was the grossest thing I ever tried), it's amazing to see how far they have come (I believe this is the OG location). I was a bit worried to see how they'd fare after being acquired by Chobani, but I haven't seen a difference in the quality (don't worry they have fixed the canned coffees)! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location has a handful of tables, but more so used for the casual convo and chats vs hardcore studying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love that they still give you the plate with a spoon to mix in your milk/etc (and they provide oat milk on the bar alongside the regular milks which is awesome). I think their espresso here is super solid so I usually go for a latte/cappucino/etc but have tried some of their seasonal drinks (sometimes hit or miss). Overall, would definitely recommend checking this place out. This location can get a little busy, but the staff are pros and the line always moves quick! read more

I like La Colombe coffee but the service has been falling short. The staffs are rarely friendly in these stores, they kind of want to take your orders and get you out asap. They are not as good as Starbucks' service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This shop is pretty small, I went in the afternoon and all tables were occupied.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of people are camping with their laptops.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Matcha was underwhelming, with an off green color and weird bitter/sweet taste. Disappointing, I probably wont be back. read more

Cozy but not comfortable? Kind of a weird way to think of La Colombe. The seat and table just weren't comfortable at all. I sure liked everything else tho. Coffee was great. Just bitter enough with some berry notes on the back of your cheeks. Terrific. Great location for just sitting and reading the paper, as I did...or if you are grabbing a cup to go. La Colombe will serve your needs as you see fit. A little more pricey than your standard drip, but not unreasonable. 3.8, rounding up. read more

Conveniently located right at City Hall, La Colombe offers some great coffee and matcha with a view. Personally thought the strawberry matcha was too light on the strawberry flavor but the matcha itself was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's 2 tables outside and some indoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would say that it's too busy and loud for me to work in but I definitely see people doing it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Every time I come it's busy, but service is always nice and the drinks come out quick. read more

I passed by this coffee shop several times and I always saw a line. Finally on a Saturday morning around 8:30, I saw there's o crowd. There are some seatings in the coffee shop. The staff instantly greeted the coming customers and asked for their orders. I saw scrumptious pastries in a glass display. I had to try the plump almond croissant dusted with powdered sugar. The server definitely paid attention to the hygiene. He took the pastries with a thong, he even took the napkins to be put in the pastry bag with a thong too. My decaf cappuccino to go was served instantly. The cup wasn't closed to give me the opportunity to add sugar. I didn't add any sweetener at all but it was still delicious and. Not too much milk so I could taste the coffee and not acid at all. Great coffee aroma. La Colombe is definitely my favorite coffee in the city read more

I don't normally post petty reviews. There would usually have to be some significant issue with the service, the food, or the ambiance for me to be this petty. So, be warned this is a PETTY review. Came in and ordered cappuccino. Okay, fine got the cappuccino. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bathroom's out of service. This is problematic if I'm drinking coffee![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Any decent establishment that doesn't have a bathroom or one that is temporarily out of order will at least cooperate with another merchant to let customers use their bathroom.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And, when I asked the cashier about wifi, she just matter of factly stated, "Yeah, we don't have wifi." [[HIGHLIGHT]]What kinda whack-ass coffee shop doesn't have wifi OR a functioning bathroom at all times in an establishment this size?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Go to the Capitol One Café on 17th & Walnut. Big fan of this location being so close to my new apartment! I've been 3-4 times in the month I've lived in the neighborhood and am a HUGE fan of their beans, half tans (half cold brew have draft latte), and how fast the line moves at this location. It is hard to give it the five star treatment when the flagship in Fishtown is just such an upgrade! This location lacks the ambiance, warmth, and charm of that location but gets the job done nevertheless. Important to note there is NO wifi here so this is not going to be a great spot to work from. Given that, tables do turnover fast so if you're looking to sit and enjoy, there is usually a spot open. La Colombe has a really great email marketing program so I recommend not unsubscribing. I've been sent codes for free drinks and discounts, and updates about new bean releases as well. The strawberry half tan will live in my head rent free forever. I've ordered it TWICE in 6 days and think it is the most amazing morning pick me up. If you're a fan of the Elixir strawberry matcha bev, La Colombe's version is something you're going to want to keep in the rotation all summer long. Continue taking my money, La Colombe! read more

I simply don't get the hype about the place. Line was long but they kept it moving. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a ton of seating inside compared to other coffee shops but most were taken.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The workers were nice and quick. I got a draft latte it was okay. I almost never get flavored coffee but I felt like I had to get a specialty latte here. The coffee was so delicious, I love that they use chobani creamers. Without a doubt, some of the best coffee I've ever had. This place was actually recommended by a local here and we decided to try it out on our last day in town. I'm SO glad we did. On top of the employees being super nice and helpful (wish I could remember her name! She recommended the cortado and I was SO glad she did). Give this girl a raise ASAP. I was a barista in my hometown for 3 years and never had I ever made anything this good. Ever. The only regrets I have is that I didn't go more than once. There's a nice variety of beverages to try, as well as pastries and snacks. The scone I had was delicious too. To the right of the store there are a bunch of canned coffee drinks as well as ground coffee as well. I did buy a canned coffee for the train ride and I was surprised at how good it was! Incidentally I found out they sell these delicious drinks online, so you bet I bought myself a 12 pack to be shipped to my house lol! read more

Always a great espresso. Top notch coffee purist drinks unlike some other places that just push a button, add "pumps" of sugary flavored syrups and call it a latte. This is real coffee made by real baristas. This particular location upheld the brand and culture shared at many of the other locations along with a super friendly and welcoming staff. I'm also inclined to like them a bit more for all that the company does for human rights, ethical, and other worthy causes. It's in their culture and you can read about it on their website. For me, I'll always seek out a La Colombe as they check all the boxes that a real coffee shop should. read more

Obviously their coffee is good, but I'd avoid going here at rush hours at all costs. Not sure why they defaulted to serving hot coffee on an 80 degree day when there was 0 seating inside instead of just confirming if I wanted hot or iced. Best to get here first thing in the morning or before the line inside triggers the baristas to knock out drinks at breakneck pace. read more

This location is takeout only as of mid-April; there's a neat maze that you traverse to get to the register. On my most recent visit, I had a cold brew, blueberry muffin and hand pie (ham, gruyere and caramelized onion). Everything was perfect, per usual. If you need somewhere to take your goods, the nearby park has plenty of benches. Impossible for me to give any of the La Colombes fewer than five stars. read more

I don't know why Philadelphia is raving about La Colombe. Their drinks 90% of the time taste awful and most importantly, the service at pretty much every store is absolutely terrible. Note that this review is just an accumulation of my various experiences. 1. The first time I ever came in, I didn't know how drinks work and whatnot - asked if they had syrups and got a grumpy/sassy response "oh we don't do that here". Ok... don't need to make me feel less than. 2. I don't know what drinks are actually supposed to be good here because coffee always ALWAYS taste burnt. 3. Going off #1, It just seems like everyone working in the morning are just always aggravated - and I get it, it's early, it's busy...but I have never seen anyone at Starbucks or any other coffee shop have as much of an attitude than the workers at La Colombe. Something needs to change around attitude and friendliness across ALL locations. read more

This was probably the best coffee I had on my east coast trip. I drink their can coffee occasionally and didn't realise they were an actual coffee shop. I read the original was in Philly so came to this one. I went with their Black and Tan, half latte, half cold brew - I believe and it was delicious. Their baked goods looked great too, their almond croissant was delicious, their cheese one looked great too, the cashier recommended it too. read more

Coffee A+++++++++++++ but no wifi so had to do 4 stars. The draft beverages (lattes, chai, cold brew, etc) are a La Colombe specialty and absolutely worth every penny. I love the half tan, half black (half latte, half cold brew). They have an oat milk option for the draft lattes as well. Fast and excellent service even when they are slammed. Vibes are perfect for a coffee date but there isn't WiFi for working. My go-to to grab before heading to the library! Large sizes for decent prices as well. read more

My husband is a huge fan of La Colombe coffee in cans that we can find at the grocery store, and I've visited a La Colombe location in DC. But since La Colombe's home is Philly, we were excited to stop by and have a couple of coffees when were in Philly for a day trip recently and staying in the area. I got my usual, an Americano. But my husband was excited to try something they had on tap (maybe a black and Oat?), which he raved about. It's not a large coffee shop, but it's nice inside. And the line moved pretty fast. They had a lot of really beautiful pastries, but we had just stuffed ourselves with hummus as Dizengoff, so we stuck to coffees. It's definitely a place I'd happily return to in the future! read more

Reliable coffee shop with reasonable prices that is open on the weekends. We got a cappuccino and a pour over (Columbia bean with citrus notes). Both were good though will probably get the drip next time instead of the pour over (or a pour over if a different bean). I liked how there were some tables for seating and glass water cups with both still and sparkling water. read more

I have been coming here for going on 20 years now , and though I do review a lot on Yelp , this is the first afternoon I thought to review them . Shame on me , as there is much to praise . Perhaps the reminder I needed --was how down to earth and downright friendly and accommodating--ALL of the staff here is --on this particular day , in this particular pretentious location right off the most expensive area in philadelphia , Im sure there have been plenty of demanding people to sour them this morning --being a barista can be a fun but thankless job I can imagine at some points . However it's going on 3 pm , I am listening to every barista talk to each customer in a line that goes out the door --and each one --is taking the time to be friendly and accommodating and cheerful towards all . There is one guy (I feel bad I forget his name ) who must be here for 20 years --who is a fixture of excellence par none when it comes to baristas (perhaps a manager? ) and with his long hair tied up man -bun tousled with bright eyes , he is none to hard --on my eyes , I might add , heh heh . There is a young lady at the register (notice I'm hoping the descriptions make it back to management so you can personally commend them .--slim , checkered shirt , low pony tail , who is super cheerful , a young African American woman "wo(man) ing the espresso pour --who is noticeably efficient yet kind , and finally a young tall blond dude with a beanie and curls peaking out from underneath --always a smile on his face when I come in . One young woman --slight and blonde --usually with a hat --who I often see on the weekdays--also goes out of her way to remember me . Oh and now I'll finally mention the coffee and PASTRIES are OUT OF THIS WORLD --from the almond croissants I almost always choose --to the one with a half a peach dead center --to their ridiculous chocolate chip cookies . I gladly stand in line and wait for a table in this quaint , wonderfully ambianced space --often overrun with students outstaying their welcome --but I ain't mad , cuz who can blame them ? Get the oat milk draft latte --a milkshake sans the calories ! All around off the charts . Kudos to the management and ownership --I imagine and pray you are treating these young folks well --and giving them raises , as they do you proud every day and make it stand out from the pretentious hipster places on the fringe . Great job and Keep up the great work !!! read more

My family and I were in Philly for a World Cup match and decided to stop in for a chai latte and a coffee. There was a short line, and when it was our turn, we were greeted by the sweetest employee. She was incredibly welcoming, patient, and took the time to explain the different coffee blends they offered. We ended up getting the Colombia blend, which my husband absolutely loved. Now, why do I regret coming here? Because this was, without a doubt, the BEST chai latte I have ever had in my life. It completely ruined every other chai latte for me. The bar has been set so high that every chai I've had since has been a disappointment. I can't wait to make it back to Philly!

Rght across from the cafe there's a fantastic lounge area with a pool table and a collection of books. I don't think anyone would use the books in the library and they're mostly decorative, but I did think it was cute. The menu is adorable - it's a giant scroll on the wall and had some Philly-themed artwork. I would go back just to see if they change up the artwork.
