The menu boasts everything from your classic drip (using their Sankofa blend) to espresso, cold brew, matcha, shakerato, espresso tonics and more. I really loved how easy the menu was to navigate and was intrigued by their house made syrups; I love clean ingredients! We opted for an iced latte with the banana bread syrup, which we were told is rather popular -- delicious, especially because it wasn't overly sweet! The biscuit sandwich was impressive with a beautiful fluffy biscuit, slightly crisp on the outside and soft inside made for a delicious breakfast. I stopped by during lunch on a weekday to try to seasonal banana bread latte. By late lunchtime there weren't many pastry options left but they did have an almond croissant which I grabbed. I got the banana bread latte with oat milk, and got my things to go. There were a lot of seats but literally all of them were taken. Service was fine but it was just one person behind the counter taking orders and making everything so I did wait about 5 min which was fine. Amazing community aspect - dog wall, see lots of people working/studying here, walking running clubs stop here, pride party, ICE OUT, etc. Few outdoor seating options. Coffee and matcha is good too they have fun syrups like mint, banana bread, strawberry or blueberry, etc. The vanilla they use has real beans! Love seeing the black specks in my latte. I usually get the iced shakerato. Prices are okay. I really don't like that they charge $1 for a milk alternative. I haven't tried the food options yet, I think it's very limited breakfast menu but I want to. Overall, a good local Philly coffee shop to support! read more

My first stop visiting Philadelphia and I was disappointed to say the least. The girls at the counter were so rude and rolled their eyes at my friend. $6 for the tiniest coffee I've ever seen. I ordered a cappuccino and was given something else. The building itself boasts "Scandinavian design" but they just painted every surface beige and hung no art on the walls. Unassuming little shop in a mall that made some of the best espresso I've ever had. (And I'm a former artisan coffee shop owner.) there are bean choices for espresso, not just a blend. The Colombian was balanced and not at all over extracted. Very precise preparation, even weighing the milk. Barista made some of the best latte art I've seen. No real sitting (benches are mostly for waiting) but this should be a daily stop for anyone that lives here. read more

On a Sunday at 4:49 pm (just over 10 minutes before their 5:00 pm closing time), I went in to order a matcha and a cappuccino. The cashier immediately said they weren't making any coffee drinks because they were closing soon and needed to clean up/prep. I pointed out that it's a coffee shop that closes at 5, and expecting to serve drinks close to closing seems reasonable. She responded rudely with something like, 'If you don't like it, go to Starbucks.' The attitude was unnecessary and unprofessional--especially since we were there well before closing and just wanted two simple drinks. Won't be returning based on this interaction. read more

Nice, clean, and comfortable...but not necessarily my cup of coffee. (See what I did there?) Alchemy is a pretty sharp looking coffee shop. Everything seems to have a perfect angle and the same shade of white & wood stain, from the furniture to the wall art to the cups that they serve the coffee in. That's pretty cool, I cannot lie. And even though it kinda has a bit of a museum aesthetic, you'd think it wouldn't be very comfortable - but it was! I was quite happy sitting there and reading my paper. Where Alchemy falls short, in my opinion, is the lack of privacy. This seems a little weird to suggest since it is a coffee shop with multiple areas for seating and people are constantly in and out, so there isn't really an expectation of privacy. However, I am a little hard of hearing (ask my girlfriend), and I could hear every single word of every conversation that was being had in the shop. It's a little off-putting and distracting. I suppose this is the drawback to a small coffee shop, but there are worse things. Also, the drip coffee wasn't very good, I don't think. It tastes very watered down, but the price was about what you'd expect. I did enjoy my latte, however. Really well made. I'd go back to Alchemy but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

Cute little coffee shop in center city. I walked into this place expecting it to be crowded. It was empty with only a few fellow work from home individuals. On initial view this place is super white. Everything from tables to furniture is white. The place also has a CBD wellness shop which is interesting. I got my drip coffee from a nice lady up front. It is weird that the creamer and such isn't next to the lids. She left room for milk in my container but the milk is on a different side of the bar compared to the lids for the cup (I'm still confused as to why?!). I came to Alchemy Coffee, which is located near Rittenhouse square, with my sister. I got the fresh mint latte and I really liked it! The mint flavor was strong but not too overpowering, it complimented the espresso rly well. HOWEVER, the iced matcha latte was a huge disappointment. There was not enough matcha so the drink just tasted just plain milk. I went back to the barista to ask for an a little extra matcha but was told I would have to pay for an extra shot of matcha. She was extremely nice about it and I understand the policy. But the amount of matcha in the MATCHA latte is abysmal. So maybe stick to the coffees if you plan to come here. I will say that the interior of the coffee shop is really cute and cozy. However, we were here in the afternoon on a Saturday and it was super busy. All the tables were taken. Most people were doing their work there so we had to sit in a ledge. It also gets pretty noisy so I wouldn't not recommend coming here to do work that you really need to concentrate on/take meetings here. read more

I thought I have been hitting up really great java spots here in Philly but this one, this one here is a winner. The vibe is clean, bright with minimalist decor. It reminded me of the coffee shops in Seoul, Korea. Lots of UPenn students working on their laptops here as well as locals. I love mint and the word Shakerato intrigued me...Fresh Mint Shakerato it is. While I waited for my drink, I looked up what a Shakerato was. It is a chilled espresso drink that is shaken in a tumbler for 15 seconds along with ice cubes and simple syrup. The espresso part becomes frothy. The thick froth floats on top when poured. This is perfect on a hot summer day. It's weird for me to say but this is the most "refreshing" and unique coffee drink I have ever had. It's chilled like a cocktail and gave it a seltzer feel. The frothy part reminded me of an egg cream soda. I LOVED EVERY SIP!! I couldn't help but notice their cool logo. It's a motif of the Adinkra heart symbol for Sankofa. Sankofa is part of the Twi language of Ghana. They used Sankofa Gold House Blend. It's a balanced, robust flavor that pairs very well with any milk options or by itself. COME IF YOU WANT A GOOD WORK CAFE!! This is an ideal place as a work cafe. Very modern decorations which just sets you up for a good mood but so many more pluses. My drink came out pretty fast, and it was so good. I got the vanilla shakerato cold brew, which I highly recommend!! I loved how spacious each tables were. There was plenty of space for both my laptop and ipad, which is not that common in a lot of stores!! Another big plus were the outlets on the floor!! You do not have to sit near the wall or eye another human being already sitting there to charge your electronics (: Also, I loved that everyone else was working, and everyone knew to be respectful of each other in terms of sound levels. I loved seeing everyone else grinding which helped me stay focused and continue working as well. Temperature was just right, and wifi was a little slow at times but still good overall. Purchased an Americano coffee. It was decent, warm, and had an ok favor. There are significant limitations with this coffee shop. They only offered one size cups and had a limited amount of artificial sugar sweetener options. The seating arrangement was limited but overall there was a good utilization of the space that was provided to them in this small, quaint location. The atmosphere was lights and simplistic. I could sit here for hours just reading a book or working on my papers while trying different coffees. I look forward to trying other options in the future. read more

It wasn't hard to find a seat on a holiday weekend afternoon and in the morning, it's even easier. There's also some high top counter space near the back. Not a large space, but it's more than enough. FOOD/DRINKS Got a ham/cheese croissant, which was just okay for the price I paid (5.50). Would not get it again. They also have a range of loose leaf teas around 4.50 and matcha if you're going for a coffee alternative. They serve Elixr Coffee, so if you're a fan of that, this is the place for you. AESTHETIC is clean and minimalist. The light wood and white produces a calming environment for me. SERVICE is fast and friendly. It was a short wait for a delicious breakfast biscuit with a well seasoned and cooked egg, delicious cheddar cheese, perfectly cooked bacon and buttery flaky biscuit.
