I'm actually really upset that I stopped by this café... and let me tell you why. I'm not from the area--in fact, I live in Los Angeles, about 2,700 miles away. My family and I were in Philly for a World Cup match and decided to stop in for a chai latte and a coffee. There was a short line, and when it was our turn, we were greeted by the sweetest employee. She was incredibly welcoming, patient, and took the time to explain the different coffee blends they offered. We ended up getting the Colombia blend, which my husband absolutely loved. Now, why do I regret coming here? Because this was, without a doubt, the BEST chai latte I have ever had in my life. It completely ruined every other chai latte for me. The bar has been set so high that every chai I've had since has been a disappointment. I can't wait to make it back to Philly! read more

Stopped by to do a bit of work in between errands in Rittenhouse this morning. Got a hot hojicha latte and sat down in the nearby seats. Vibe: this place is consistently packed. I don't think I've ever visited an an hour where I've seen it not. Often a line going from the counter, down the stairs, all the way to the bathroom. If you're looking for a quick coffee stop, don't expect to be in and out of here. That being said, they've got some kinds of seating not typical of coffee shops, including this nice long U-shaped couch seating. You'll be around with other folks reading or enjoying their joe, but it's a nice change of pace. Working-wise, wi-fi is solid. Outlets are sparse. Hard to stay a long time here. Music is at least at a tolerable level to tune out and is not usually too bumping. Staff here are quick, but won't be the friendliest. They won't be rude either. They're just trying to get through the line so don't take it personally Overall: would much prefer other places like Capital One Cafe for the reasons I visit cafes, but I can see this being a nice place for other more leisurely-natured visits! read more

Best coffee I've ever had. Was in town for the weekend and went here twice in one day. I got the black salt coffee. I think that was the name. But it was delicious and a different flavor profile. The baristas were super friendly. The coffee shop itself had a lot of seating if you wanted to stay there and work or just enjoy your morning coffee. Would definitely check it out!! There are quite a few coffee shops in Center City, but Elixr's Black Salt Caramel Lattehot or icedis my current obsession. I love the salty/sweet combo, and they've really nailed it with this drink. Just a heads-up: if you get it hot, give it a stir since most of the flavor settles at the bottom. I've also tried the Strawberry Matcha, which has a nice balance between the sweetness of the strawberry and the earthiness of the matcha. The coffee shop has a beautiful aesthetic and is usually pretty full. They've got great baked goods, and the prices are reasonable for specialty drinks. There's space to work if you need it, but the lighting can be a little moody--maybe not ideal if you're on video calls. read more

Together, smooth, sweet drink that's refreshing. Service: I came in at 12 pm on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy. The line wasn't too long and it was moving fast. The barista was pleasant. The iced latte was good! Good espresso, but didn't like the sticky after taste. My friend got an iced lavender latte, however, and I liked that one a lot better -- added a bit of sweetness to it, but not too sweet! Another friend got an iced strawberry matcha, and it was ok -- the strawberry was too pink. Wish they used real strawberries. Elixr how I love you! You'll see tons of reviews about the Black Sea salt Caramel latte - which means you must try it. It's that good. Hot or iced, both are fantastic. The salt really highlights the caramel flavor. The space inside is massive with plenty of seating. A great spot to WFH. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. They have a fairly decent points system that is connected to CashApp. Online ordering system is easy to use and always ready just a few minutes later. While it's pricey, (7 dollar lattes) it's not more expensive than any other spot in the city. This is a weekly spot for me and I'll always recommend to friends! read more

highlyyy recommend getting the black caramel salt latte, it's one of the best specialty lattes i've had. i also got to try the strawberry matcha, which is okay - it was good, but it doesn't use real strawberry puree & instead uses some strawberry milk - at least from what I could tell. the service on my first visit was good, the baristas were friendly. however, my second visit was not as pleasant. the cashier and barista were chatting even while i was ordering. it took longer than it should have to receive drinks because of this as well, barista was distracted by coworkers. hope that isn't the case the majority of the time though, since this shop was quite good! read more

One word: WOW. I wish I had this coffee shop in my city. I came here for a cup of coffee the morning after a work event. It was super close to my hotel in a very walkable part of town. I came on a Tuesday morning around 10am. And while it wasn't overly packed, the place was full with at least a few people in line constantly. The barista quickly took my order and I was able to find a table. There are a good amount of indoor tables to sit at and a couple outside. I ordered a chocolate croissant and the highly rated caramel black salt latte. While I wasn't a fan of the croissant, this was a ten star cup of coffee for me. The sweet and savory flavors mixed so well together I found myself wishing I could create something as good as this at home. I was inspired to buy some coffee beans. I'm super excited to have a piece of Elixir back in Richmond with me. When you buy a bag of beans, you get a free drink. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to Philly. read more
