Stopped by to do a bit of work in between errands in Rittenhouse this morning. Got a hot hojicha latte and sat down in the nearby seats. Vibe: this place is consistently packed. I don't think I've ever visited an an hour where I've seen it not. Often a line going from the counter, down the stairs, all the way to the bathroom. If you're looking for a quick coffee stop, don't expect to be in and out of here. That being said, they've got some kinds of seating not typical of coffee shops, including this nice long U-shaped couch seating. You'll be around with other folks reading or enjoying their joe, but it's a nice change of pace. Working-wise, wi-fi is solid. Outlets are sparse. Hard to stay a long time here. Music is at least at a tolerable level to tune out and is not usually too bumping. Staff here are quick, but won't be the friendliest. They won't be rude either. They're just trying to get through the line so don't take it personally Overall: would much prefer other places like Capital One Cafe for the reasons I visit cafes, but I can see this being a nice place for other more leisurely-natured visits! read more

Try the strawberry matcha oat latte. It was life-changing (in my opinion) The barista was fast and it took 5-10 minutes to come out. We took it to go since the place was packed. Would come again!! read more

It's on a side street, so it would be easy to miss, but it's absolutely worth the effort to seek out. I had a pour-over, and I haven't had this well-balanced of a cup of Java in a long, long time. They're very serious about their coffee here, both in quality and attitude. It's a chill, quiet place, which I appreciate. Recommended. read more

Great little place for coffee, pastries and bagels. May be somewhat cramped inside, particularly at the weekend, but a worthwhile trip. This is located at the corner of Walnut--not far off, but lying on a small side street, so watch for it! read more

We like their mocha and their iced strawberry matcha - both are delicious if you are looking for something sweet. Sometimes there's a bit of a line but it moves quickly. We also buy their whole beans (beekeeper) to use at home - it's a go to! read more

There are quite a few coffee shops in Center City, but Elixr's Black Salt Caramel Lattehot or icedis my current obsession. I love the salty/sweet combo, and they've really nailed it with this drink. Just a heads-up: if you get it hot, give it a stir since most of the flavor settles at the bottom. I've also tried the Strawberry Matcha, which has a nice balance between the sweetness of the strawberry and the earthiness of the matcha. The coffee shop has a beautiful aesthetic and is usually pretty full. They've got great baked goods, and the prices are reasonable for specialty drinks. There's space to work if you need it, but the lighting can be a little moody--maybe not ideal if you're on video calls. read more

The strawberry matcha is worth the hype trust me. The matchs is well blended, and doesn't taste like grass. The strawberry part reminds me of strawberry milk- smooth and sweet. Together, smooth, sweet drink that's refreshing. Service: I came in at 12 pm on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy. The line wasn't too long and it was moving fast. The barista was pleasant. The iced latte was good! Good espresso, but didn't like the sticky after taste. My friend got an iced lavender latte, however, and I liked that one a lot better -- added a bit of sweetness to it, but not too sweet! Loved this place. The cafe had a great vibe, the baristas were kind and it wasn't too terribly loud. I ended up getting the Caramel Black Salt latte because it had great reviews and I was not disappointed. It was awesome, and so was the almond croissant. Elixr how I love you! You'll see tons of reviews about the Black Sea salt Caramel latte - which means you must try it. It's that good. Hot or iced, both are fantastic. The salt really highlights the caramel flavor. The space inside is massive with plenty of seating. A great spot to WFH. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. They have a fairly decent points system that is connected to CashApp. Online ordering system is easy to use and always ready just a few minutes later. While it's pricey, (7 dollar lattes) it's not more expensive than any other spot in the city. This is a weekly spot for me and I'll always recommend to friends! read more

My goto coffee shop is starbucks but as of writing this review there are no starbucks in phl. Due to this, I was forced to go to a coffee place i had no knowledge of. This place didn't look great at first glance bit I was catching an early flight and needed my coffee. The coffee here was excellent. I would recommend them to everyone. read more

highlyyy recommend getting the black caramel salt latte, it's one of the best specialty lattes i've had. i also got to try the strawberry matcha, which is okay - it was good, but it doesn't use real strawberry puree & instead uses some strawberry milk - at least from what I could tell. the service on my first visit was good, the baristas were friendly. however, my second visit was not as pleasant. the cashier and barista were chatting even while i was ordering. it took longer than it should have to receive drinks because of this as well, barista was distracted by coworkers. hope that isn't the case the majority of the time though, since this shop was quite good! read more

This coffee shop is fortunately open later on weekends than most others in Center City, which is how I ended up here! It offers comfortable table, counter, and couch-style seating, along with a variety of coffee drinks and a limited selection of baked goods. My double-shot latte was very good. I saw several busy waves of customers come through during my hour or so there. read more

my go to coffee spot! i love stopping by here to grab the strawberry matcha with oat milk. i also like the general special matcha drinks they do. i recently got the matcha and ube drink which looked very pretty! however, when i last went, the wifi was out and my friend did mention seeing a mouse or other small creature scurry around inside the store. read more

This is a great spot to grab a good cup of coffee. However, if you're looking for a place to sit down and read, enjoy conversation, or just relax, you'll need to be patient, as it's a busy place with limited seating inside. Elixir was a hidden-gem in the Rittenhouse area with a very welcoming vibe and kind staff. I found this on my way from my hotel to grab coffee and they had local roasters and amazing coffee. I got a large sea salt caramel latte that was a better price than most coffee shops in the area. I would recommend it and it's a must for your next coffee spot or area meetings. read more

One word: WOW. I wish I had this coffee shop in my city. I came here for a cup of coffee the morning after a work event. It was super close to my hotel in a very walkable part of town. I came on a Tuesday morning around 10am. And while it wasn't overly packed, the place was full with at least a few people in line constantly. The barista quickly took my order and I was able to find a table. There are a good amount of indoor tables to sit at and a couple outside. I ordered a chocolate croissant and the highly rated caramel black salt latte. While I wasn't a fan of the croissant, this was a ten star cup of coffee for me. The sweet and savory flavors mixed so well together I found myself wishing I could create something as good as this at home. I was inspired to buy some coffee beans. I'm super excited to have a piece of Elixir back in Richmond with me. When you buy a bag of beans, you get a free drink. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to Philly. read more

I am once again, writing a Yelp review of my strawberry matcha finds through the cities I explore, haha. I'm a big strawberry matcha snob and I can safely say that Elixir's strawberry matcha is on my list now! I could tell the matcha was great quality. They use more of a strawberry oatmilke than strawberry puree, but I loved the flavor it added. It's also colored with beet which gives it a very cute appearance. It was absolutely delicious and the staff made it for me so fast. I really appreciated it and can't wait to come back for more when I'm back in the area! read more

I went in with the plan to order a latte and betrayed my plans. I ordered the Strawberry Matcha to try something different than I usually get. I just needed a caffeine boost before a dinner nearby. I have never had this kind of drink before but I have learned - TIP: MIX THE DRINK BEFORE YOU SIP! I made the seemingly newbie mistake of sipping all the strawberry first and was left with concentrated bitter matcha...now that's good matcha but still! I've heard many good reviews about their strawberry lattes so I had to come try. I will like to say, I'm a matcha enjoyer and I am on the hunt for the best matcha latte in Philly. I will say I like my matcha STRONG and while elixrs strawberry milk was absolutely delicious I think I'll stick to their coffees from now on. This matcha just wasnt strong enough for me but I was still able to enjoy my drink. There's plenty of seating inside and free WiFi and a restroom. The service is also very kind and very quick for an early weekday morning when I came. read more

I was visiting from out of town and wanted to restock on coffee beans and am so so glad I decided to visit Elixir! Firstly, the decor of the store was so warm and cosy - perfect for escape from the cold weather outside. The staff were incredibly friendly and they even offer any drink of your choice when you purchase beans (to be redeemed instantly or as a voucher for a future visit)! Wow how generous - the black salted caramel latte was so delicious and beats any drip coffee that's offered with bean purchases in NYC. I can't wait to come back. read more

Hipster coffee joint, friendly staff and lots of unique options. Came here for a coffee and to explore a bit. Was easy enough to find though I did have to check the map a few times. Server was friendly and answered all my questions. Got a Black Sea salt caramel latte and a cold brew for later Coffee came out quickly, and it was good! Flavor was pronounced and not bitter. The Black Sea salt didn't really add anything beyond a visual difference, but that little bit of salt really helped mellow and meld all the flavors together. The caramel was there but not overwhelming, the milk was light and frothy, and the coffee was mellow and earthy which matched the milk and the sweet. The cold brew was drank later. That was a well done cold brew. Slightly fruity but not overly tart. The drink was watered down cause of the ice, but it was still pretty decent overall. It's pretty good, all things considered. It's good coffee and it's done well. I like their spin on things, but it's not something I would drive out for. It's good for the area, and worth a try read more

When we walked in the time changed to add about 15 min on which was a bit annoying however we were not in a rush so we calmly waited. I got the hot matcha latte and it was really good. I like only a drop of sweetener bc I like to taste the matcha. I like it served temperature hot (not warm)- and this drink arrived exactly the way I like it. Would def come back for another one. My bf got some kind of coffee w cardamom in it (sorry I forget which kind - I'm not a coffee drinker and they all sound the same to me ha). He really enjoyed his drink. It's the fanciest looking coffee house I ever visited, there's outside seating which is nice and the inside is lit up with warm yellow lighting throughout, very spacious with tables and wicker like chairs. It seems like a great spot to meet up with a friend or to visit, find a corner read or work. It looks like a family establishment, as I noticed there were children behind the register, a young man, maybe 10 years old took my order and did a great job doing so! Bravo! I purchased a vanilla hot matcha latte and a pistachio milk cake, the total was about $21!!! This price was expensive, visiting establishment like this often is not feasible to my budget but there's so much more I need to try so I'll be back. The matcha was amazing, actually the most authentic I've tried!!! And the pistachio milk cake was delicious, being a person who literally puts milk on cake lol, this was amazing!!! It wasn't too sweet and the pistachio gave balance! The slice is enough to share or split for 2 servings, which is what I did. Bottom line, I'll be back! I'd love to try their coffee and another pastry and possibly sit outside on a nice day. Please visit and enjoy!!!

The line moved quick despite it being out the door and the staff were all very friendly and patient. Also, big plus-- they have a restroom! We got the Dankaroo soft serve (vanilla and cinnamon swirl dunked in cookies and cream coating). The coating was very sweet, but the soft serve itself was not too sweet and a very nice texture. The texture was a bit more icy than traditional soft serve (which I prefer). The shop is very casual and does not offer any seating that I saw. Maybe they offer seating at an earlier hour, but not when we went.

Still decent though! They've got a nice selection of seasonal drinks, serve Verve, and also have fun Capital One branded giveaways every once in a while. There's tons of seating, BUT it tends to all get taken up quite quickly. Sometimes there's some unhoused around the building, including in the bathrooms despite needing a code to get in, but it's not too much of a detraction of it being a good working and gathering space.
