Came here on recommendation from family as this Mexican restaurant is the best in their area. We came here after hiking! It was after lunch and it was still packed with people!! The restaurant itself is very big with patio table setting as well. We ordered for to-go so we can eat at home because it was busy inside. My uncle ordered their super burrito and he finished it real fast. My aunt ordered their ceviche always and loves it with their tostada shell. My cousin ordered their tacos. He ordered three different flavors. He loved them. I ordered their taco salad with pastor meat and it was a lot. I asked for less beans and more salad. They did that! I loved the thin crust shell and almost ate it all. Food was good. Salsa stand was pretty good but I wish the guacamole salsa was better. Prices were great! They serve beer, too. LaCosta has been around for along time..... and they do have a lot of locals that love their food... The Oakley restaurant is located in a great spot with the huge water fountain right next to them, parking is just ok and the restaurant inside is nothing special, i can't say I have ever seen the restaurant floor free of Chips or spilled salsa, I have never experienced friendly customer service or a smile or thank you from the cashiers... I find their food plain...2 super carnitas burritos and a small side of rice/beans $32.00 there wasn't much carnitas on either burrito plenty of rice & beans nothing more . I'm giving a generous 3 stars because I called 10 min before closing to place my order.... read more

Always check your food before leaving this place. They shorted me two tacos, I had to drive all the way back to the restaurant to get them and did they even apologize? Of course not they just made them for me and handed them to me, like the least you could do is say sorry. I will never come back to La Costa which sucks because I liked their food and I would eat there frequently, but after being treated like that no more. The guy that's supposed to check the orders before he calls them out didn't do his job and didn't apologize. read more

This place doesn't skimp out with the portions. Definitely worth traveling for. They have a huge selection from seafood items to tacos, burritos, etc. CONS : Let me start off with this. You enter. It is always busy so expect to keep your distance. Knowing there should be regulations in consideration they do little to no safety measures when it comes to keeping people distant in line. They are always 1 foot away from me. No one is there to advise them to please follow protocols. In my opinion, knowing they are the customers and not the employees, there should be at least one person outside of the register keeping everything under control. Something I always have a problem with is having them hear when I'm ordering. Have to repeat myself at least 3 times due to the music being too loud. They even gave me the wrong order once which was a bummer after arriving home. Oysters aren't the freshest. Most of the time they taste rancid, signs they don't take the time to prepare them beforehand, and when you order them to go they stack them on top of each other. Yes with the dirty shell over the other which isn't appetizing. PROS : Their aguachiles are a must, but keep in mind the "marinated" shrimp is always different. Sometimes they are nicely cured and other times they are completely raw. I do love how they give you plenty of chips, sliced line, salt crackers, tapatio packets, and utensils. That's a huge plus. They have to-go salsas which is another plus. Their Jarritos aren't a reasonable price if you ask me, but if you're eating there I guess it's alright. Overall, this place is delicious. No fast food chain will ever be 100/100. Definitely my go to for when I'm craving seafood. read more

Horrible!!!! Used to be good, now they can't even fulfill a veggie taco. Taco is nothing but rice 4 beans and some lettuce. Doesn't do anything to justify their inconsistency of when your order online verse in person, last few times haven't been fresh, ceviche isn't cured all the way through. Will not go back! I remember when this was just a shack selling great tacos in Oakley, over the years the ambiance has improved 100%, remained clean, and although they now have indoor seating it has an al fresco feel, their menu and Mexican culinary creations are still delicious and the service is prompt and nothing short of excellent, they don't have table service as it appearstheir focus is on the food. We ordered a couple carnitas burritos earlier along with shrimp cocktail and octopus added and that had to be the worst burrito we have ever had in our entire life! On top of the shrimp cocktail had basically no octopus in it except for two little pieces. Sadly, it tasted like their meat was at least a month old. It had nothing but dried up hard pieces of meat throughout the entire burrito that felt like you were eating rocks. We couldn't even finish them. Extremely disappointing. read more

Outdoor patio area. This place is excellent for mariscos. We had the shrimp cocktail, shrimp ceviche tostada, carne asada quesadilla, and chicken tacos. Shrimp cocktail was wonderful - I wanted more avocado on top. The shrimp tostada was delicious. The carne asada quesadilla was questionable- it looked like a burrito. Can't beat it for fast, high quaility mexican food. However the demand has made it a bit pricey for smashed beans and rice. I love the ambiance of the new place, however it'll never beat the old corner joint with 4-guys cooking in a space the size of a modest bathroom. I've wasted money before on meaningless things before, but I could actually kick myself for stepping foot into the restaurant. I ordered super nachos with chicken, ordering and checkout was a breeze, order number called within 5 minutes of ordering. My order was to-go so shame on me for not looking over my order prior to leaving. I walked back to my destination (after carrying the bag as of it were precious cargo). I make it back to my desk and I should have known it was going to be disastrous when I saw the container was melted from being put in the MICROWAVE to melt the cheese. I open the container and it literally looks like slop. Whoever made my nachos must have bear claws for hands because my nachos were just thrown together and topped with mounts of iceberg lettuce an avalanche of tomatoes and globs of sour cream. I will never in a million years retur back not if even of someone offered to take me to lunch and pay for it. This place is GROSS! read more

I cater from this restaurant frequently as well as enjoy their dine in services. Above any aspect of my experience has been firsthand, the friendliness, helpfulness and professionalism of the staff. They continually go above and beyond and are patient in doing so.....this speaks volumes in an environment that seems to try to provide only the bare minimum. The food is always hot, fresh and plentiful. LaCosta has a great reputation and I can attest. I would recommend them for good, quality mexican food, always making for a pleasant dining experience. Being a Brentwood resident for a long time, I have patronized La Costa Brentwood for the longest time. But it was 98F outside this Saturday afternoon, we've decided to try out their Oakley branch since it does have ac (Brentwood also does have ac, but only a small portion). As expected, the quality and authenticity of its tacos is superior: I ordered lengua, pollo, beef, and pork and boy all of them are good! Also, their horchata is in tap! We got a couple of refills of this yummy drink. La Costa Taqueria parallels what I fell like In N Out is: you might not have been here for a long time, but once you crave it, you know exactly where to go and it feels absolutely right. This used to be one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. Not anymore. I really like to order carnitas, and if I'm being honest, most Mexican restaurants have fatty gross carnitas they serve. La Costa used to be my go to. But after several terrible experiences biting into a carnitas burrito into a huuuuge piece of nasty fatty meat, I'm done risking my meal here. It's unfortunate because this place is close by, has great prices, and an amazing salsa bar! If you don't order carnitas, you should be safe to bite into your order without worry of chewing a huge piece of fat. read more

I had tostadas thinking I was getting shrimp on one and crab on the other. 2 PCs of shrimp and a pile of imitation crab plain on the other. My companion ordered carne asada tacos. They came plain. She walked them back and instead of making fresh ones. The tossed cilantro and onion in a container and sent her back to make her own. Really you can't make this up. Parking sucks! Today was my first time ever ordering the Chile Colorado at La Costa which I love from Los Panchos in Pacheco, they have the best! This is one of my favorite go-to places. All their food is delicious, but my absolute favorites are the shrimp ceviche and the seafood tostada. I never get tired of either of those. La Costa's service is always really quick and efficient. I'm never kept waiting longer than a few minutes for my order and they never mess it up. La Costa is probably one of the most efficiently run quick service places I've ever been to. I highly recommend it. read more

This place used to be the place to go, now the food is mediocre and the staff is rude. I ordered 2 super burritos and the cashier charged me for 2 regular burrito. When I told him that I wanted super burritos he yelled at me and said I didn't tell him that and then charged me for the super burritos, which was fine since that's what I wanted. Then, when I received the burritos they were already cold and I barely got any pico or guacamole so he charged me extra for nothing! This place is a ripoff. read more

This review is for the burritos only. Covid has been tough on restaurants so I have given it 3 consecutive bad burritos over the last couple of weeks before writing this. I am guessing I have had 1000 or more burritos from La Costa. I have LOVED them until recently. I have given them glowing 5 star reviews. ( see the one below from 2013) Things have changed. My last 3 burritos were a major disappointment. Each one was the same...NO meat all -- none. Almost all onions. I like onions - but I do NOT want an onion burrito, I don't think anybody but Shrek wants that. Sad for me to say after a 20+ year relationship with La Costa. There are much better options out there. I am breaking up. I am giving you some space. We had good memories and a long history but it feels like you have kind of given up and take me for granted. read more

Food was pretty good. I know that others may say portions are good big but I'd rather have less meat ratio. I ordered the two super taco plate that comes with rice and beans. The tacos were so full of meat I had to use a fork to eat some of the meat to be able to fold the taco. I'm definitely not complaining but if I knew they were that big and full, I would have only bought one. The orchata drink was a bit watered down but it was still good. The price spent for the food was good. The staff was super friendly and the guy calling out the numbered sounded like a Mexican radio host. Really funny, full of energy & entertaining.
