Tried Aracely's for the first time for lunch as my boyfriend was craving burritos & wanted to try a new place. I can't say much about the service or ambiance as my boyfriend ordered for pick up. But, I got a Regular Steak burrito (which included cheese & sour cream) and he got a Super Steak burrito. The burritos are visibly large, however they lacked flavor. I guess it doesn't make it easy as someone that grew up in the Mission District where burritos are hard to mess up considering it was pretty solid wherever you go. Personally, I'm used to my asada not being marinated and having a char to it which is where most of the flavor would typically come from. However, the asada here is actually marinated in red sauce as if it was al pastor. Additionally, there was lettuce and pretty large cuts of tomato which made the burrito feel a little less authentic as I'm not used to that in my burritos. The burrito unfortunately lacked flavor to the point where my boyfriend had to use our table salt to season it a bit. I'm 48 years old and I can honestly say this is the best Mexican food I've ever had in my life. No exaggeration. Araceli's restaurant is on another level. It was amazing the food, the hospitality, and service was a 10/10. Please if you're in the area and want some food that tastes like your grandmas home cooking Aracely's is your spot. Food is great here! I have been a few times, however, the young gal taking orders is very inattentive and picks and chooses who she will help quickest. I once asked her how one item compared to a different restaurant and was told "idk I don't go to any Mexican restaurants I only eat what my mom makes". Seemed unprofessional. And YES , I'm one of those kind of people lol) not used to lettuce in a burrito. It was an unnecessary option in the burrito though. And second, the burrito wasn't wrapped well so most of it leaked and came out of the bottom of the burrito. But let me just say, both THE GREEN AND RED SAUCE WERE DELICIOUS! First of all the food is 10/10 ! The meat is seasoned very very well and the steak has a charred almost crispy taste in some of the bites that it amazing and I can only find that at Aracely's! Also the jamaica is AMAZING and the large is so big you can easily share with at least 2 others if needed! There's been a couple times I've had to point out the quality of service to patrons who are Latino vs people who are not. There is a house fire in the distance, I can smell the burnt wiring. There's the aroma of tripas, and carne and Al pastor. A man with a stained polo shirt mans the grill, and the market inside is the definition of claustrophobia. My engineers are run thin on mainline, and above a sky of burnished pewter and bronze. What's-his-name in Central Control recommended Aracely's, and I'll probably never be out here again. It feels like a party outside, Friday night, at 6:00 PM, in an age of pandemic with a burnished pewter sky and a house fire. The neighborhood shows up for the plancha filled with carne asada, tripas, and pastor. What to order? Two of each. The tripa and pastor are damn good, crispy edges and toothsome texture on the tripa, a gentle spice and salt to the Pastor. Salsas are communal in the sort of bowl I remember from my life prior to COVID. The "guacamole" has great texture, and the spicy isn't all THAT spicy. The man in the stained polo shirt makes sure that I get a cup of fresh nopales, and "you look like you need a beer!". I do, but I don't, and I have to get back to work. I dream of another time when I can take my work shirt off and sit and bullshit with the man who just bought a new Civic and drink a beer and eat another five or six excellent, simple tacos off of a plancha under the setting sun. This was a nice little neighborhood "hole in the wall" kind of place. Don't let the neighborhood make you miss out on some good food. The food had great flavor which is one of the most important things I look for in food. My wife and I had the taco plate with 3 Carne Asada tacos rice and refried beans. And the kids got carne asada burritos their way. The carne asada was cooked just right and tender. The service was fast and patient with us. Since it was our first time eating there we didn't know what to order so we played it safe. Now that I know how they cook, I will be going back to taste the other items they have on the menu.
