Decided to attempt getting on here on a busy Saturday night in early August. Arrived at 6:30, had drinks in the bar. My pine shine martini was good but really enjoyed my BF pineapple Mike more. Came in a large cool cooper pineapple mug. Finally got seated around 7:35. We ordered two orders of O rings for our group of 6. Only needed one & even though they were crispy & fresh they were kind of bland( I guess there is seasoning on the table but not for sure what) . The salad family style was nice with the house dressing. The fried lobster tails are a good size and again were very crispy & fresh. The melted butter was a needed condiment. Green beans could have been a larger portion. Reasons for the 3 stars was mostly due to our server Heather. Overall the service was slow, ran out of house dressing (no refill), got plates for something (through observation we were suppose to get bread, did not), SIL waited quite a while for his wine, we had to remind her of a few times, when the food was brought out, she ended up mixing the plates up, trying to give my order to another person at the table & pretty confident she gave DIL her 8oz filet to another person in our party , the food was just overall average - several local restaurants offer the fried lobster tails. read more

Nice Blue Herron "nephew" restaurant with many similar items from the Blue Herron. - and why because Jeff worked w Joe Boer. Lots of similarity except not near the depth of wine Joe had. I had the Dover sole, it was superb. Twice baked potato good, salad, well just like the Blue Herron including the salad bowl but black instead of white and one piece of green pepper which was weird, but all good. Even the bread was something to write home about. There's something about these old school fine dining places at the Lake. Absolutely excellent in every way; ambience, service, setting, FOOD! They make reservations only for 5:00 sittings and, hey, I'm now of an age that 5:00 sounds just fine. So. Made those reservations and got a great seat by the windows looking out on some beautiful meadowland. Kirsten was our server and she was delightful. We ordered a bottle of their house wine which comes in a very unique bottle and was actually very good. M had their filet and baked potato. I had the combo fried lobster and prime rib. Everything was perfect. But that lobster was unlike anything I had before. Tender flaky coating and incredibly tender lobster meat. I will be craving that. They serve salad family style in ice cold bowls with a selection of homemade dressings that are all delicious. We had seen an article about Jeffrey's in a local magazine that showed him preparing Bananas Foster and mentioned it making the reservations which is the ONLY way this incredible dessert is available. Jeffrey's was a place I was excited to try but felt I would not return after going. The food was very bland overall. I think the highlight is the shared family salad served at the table - the homemade croutons and dressings were very good. Otherwise, my lobster bisque had almost no lobster unfortunately and our NY strip steaks were very bland and fatty. Jeffrey's used to be one of our favorite restaurants at the Lake. We really love the fact that Mary and Jeffrey carry on many of the menu and food traditions that we came to love from the Potted Steer and Blue Herron over our almost 60 years of coming to the Lake. Tonight, we came to the restaurant to celebrate my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. She specifically wanted to go to a restaurant where she could have a fried lobster tail as she remembered from the many times that she ate at the Potted Steer. Unfortunately, Jeffery's fell very short of expectations tonight. First, it took over an hour and a half to get our entree's. Several tables around us that arrived after us received their food before us. When we asked about it, we were told that we ordered an appetizer. But so did the other tables. When our meal arrived, two of our prime rib dinners were ice cold! The filet that my wife ordered was warm but dry. Thank God that my mother-in-law's fried lobster tail was warm and she thoroughly enjoyed it. When we expressed our disappointment and issues to our server and then Mary, they really didn't show any great remorse or offer to compensate any portion of our bill. They just said that "they would make it right". Well to me, once a meal comes out cold, reheating it is really not a reasonable solution. The meat is now cooked more than at the temperature it was originally ordered at. After all these years, it pains me to say that we will never go back to Jeffrey's again. They have lost all of our respect and trust. There are several other great restaurants at the Lake to patronize. read more

Everything was absolutely amazing. starting with the onion rings and then salad with homemade dressings. Everything that came out was a new experience for my taste buds! The fried lobster was out of this world, amazing. This by far has been my favorite dining experience to date!! BTW when they ask about desert and u think there is no room. We came here for dinner on a Friday night and were happy not to have too long of a wait. The service, salads and all of the extra touches were 5 Star and very much appreciated. The downfall for us was the main entrees. My husband ordered the prime rib and lobster and it all lacked seasoning. As guests of my brother and his wife we had high expectations of Jeffrey's and they did not disappoint. I would have offered a 5 star rating, but it wasn't a perfect service. Giving a 4.7 rating. The restaurant had a good vibe. Had a rustic feel as expected. A nice view, but not the lake view like many of the other restaurants in the area. The bartender was young and inexperienced. Our waitress was also young, trained well, but missed a few steps. Missed a few drink refills and was quick to clear our table. Felt a little rushed between courses. Calamari appetizer was AWESOME! They serve the entire knuckle, not just the steak strips. The light batter was nice. 6 stars here. The salad seemed wet. As cold as it was, my guess is it was refrigerated after being washed. The house made salad dressings were great! I do prefer a chunkier blue cheese dressing. The lobster bisque was good. The optional Cognac is a great addition. Truly makes the bisque pop! While I didn't try it, the French onion soup was a hit too. Fried lobster was also AMAZING. My prime rib was good, but needed some seasoning. My wife got the Blackened Blue Cheese filet. Good flavor. She asked for mid-well (wanted a hint of pink). It was well done. She didn't say a thing though. The truffles... a light dessert to complement a good meal. Still curious how tall their cheesecake is. The service was superb from the moment we walked through the door. We didn't have a reservation so had a quick drink in the bar while we waited for a table. My friend who is not a big alcohol drinker had the Pineshine- and LOVED it!! The ambiance in the bar and the dining room was awesome. We kicked off our annual girl's weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks a bit early this year - and lo and behold, just down the road (KK) from our resort (Margaritaville - that review is coming next) was this wonderful little gem of a restaurant. I literally called from the parking lot at about 4:45 p.m. to see if there was a chance we could get in. The lovely lady at the hostess desk said, "yes, of course - come in and by the time you have a cocktail, I'll have you a table!". So we enjoyed a drink at their lovely bar (with a terrific view BTW) and sure enough, our table was ready pronto. The service at this restaurant is just outstanding - wait staff are extremely well trained and knowledgeable, warm and welcoming and everything you would want great wait staff to be. White shirts, black pants, pretty darned flawless execution of everything they do, and they can answer any question about anything on the menu. Even the young men who clear away your plates are above and beyond in professionalism and engagement. Then there's the food. Oh, my...brace yourselves, dear readers, because this girl is about to wax poetic about this food (with one tiny, minor exception)... The exception was the stuffed mushroom appetizer. These were not great (okay, but not great). Not much stuffing - and what was supposed to be lobster stuffing looked and tasted a lot like crab. But better things were to come! The salads at this restaurant are just tremendous. Try the house dressing. Buy a bottle of it to take home. Heck, by a CASE of bottles of it to take home. Because once you have had that dressing, you will be ruined for every other salad dressing. Yes, it's that good. And then came the entrees. Three out of four of us got the prime rib and lobster entree, and it was breath-taking. Perfectly cooked prime rib. Deep fried lobster - I know - I said DEEP FRIED lobster. And it was fantastic - the breading was light (more like tempura) and the lobster taste was tender, moist and not a hint of grease or oil. Just perfection. Now, friends -- look at the picture of the entree dish. See that wonderful puff of golden goodness next to the prime rib? That is a YORKSHIRE PUDDING. Yes, they actually serve a perfectly executed Yorshire Pudding with the prime rib (the way prime rib should be served). Nothing is better to absorb all of that wonderful au jus than a Yorkshire pudding. Paired with a perfectly cooked and seasoned piece of delectable prime rib, this dish is a feast for kings.
