I visited La Bou for a quick breakfast bite. My husband and I shared the K Street breakfast sandwich on Sourdough. It has egg, bacon, cheese, and some sort of chipotle or spicy mayo. It was absolutely delicious and came out pretty fast. It came cut in half and a pretty decent size for the price. Looked clean and spacious inside.
Came here with my coworkers and I gotta say I was not enthusiastic coming. 1. I'm pregnant so what could I order and be satisfied? 2. Previous visits at other La Bou's my usual California Turkey Club has always been underwhelming. After much contemplation and several concerning questions answered I ordered the Roasted Chicken Club Panini sandwich combo choosing the Tomato Bisque over a salad. This specific combo came with a free drink, a promo they have going on right now! I'm all about free! I'm not a panini gal but I thought the sandwich was good, very filling for sure! Could've been great if the chicken was seasoned more or perhaps the guacamole spread too (normally comes with slices, not sure what happened). Bacon definitely helped to bring in the saltiness. Tomato bisque was by far my favorite over the sandwich. Highly recommend. What's best is it's not just a smooth bisque, you get actual tomato chunks. And the soft baguette slices to dip was absolute perfection! Customer service was excellent! The lady who helped me was patient and very kindly assisted with my pregnancy concerns regarding deli meat. The combo I got was her recommendation. :)
Their food is always fresh and the lady at the register is always nice. Chicken Cesar is good and is enough for two meals. Chinese chicken salad is good too. The bread is always fresh and soft. The sandwiches are good too!!!
I haven't been to this location in many years and was excited to be back and order a long time favorite- the pesto and cheese sandwich on a baguette. What a disappointment! Staff were not friendly. The bulk of tables had chairs on top so people couldn't sit down. I would estimate over half the tables were like this. What an unwelcoming message that sends. Since the few "open" tables were full I took my sandwich to go. Let me say again - what a huge disappointment. This is a simple sandwich with just a few ingredients. In the past it has always been well executed. I feel robbed that I paid for what I received. The sandwich had almost zero pesto. The pesto is the whole point of the sandwich. There was about 1/3 or less of the ingredients this sandwich usually has. Without any actual ingredients, the mayo overpowered everything. It tasted like a mayonnaise sandwich. Save your money and frustration and skip this La Bou.
I stopped by here this morning for breakfast - an iced vanilla latte and a croissant breakfast sandwich. Both were really good, but generally so... I would try another breakfast place before I go back. Service was nice, and the place was pretty empty - so I enjoyed my breakfast sitting in the capital park.
I dropped on in for a weekday lunch. Super glad this place is still around considering a-lot of other downtown businesses aren't. It's located across the Stare Capitol on 11th Street just a few yards away from L Street. Sure the ownership has changed hands since the pandemic, but it's the same menu. Kind and helpful customer service. Clean dining room. Solid option to grab breakfast and lunch. This place is counter service. They serve breakfast and lunch during the weekdays; closed on the weekends. They serve up fresh baked goods, hot baked croissants, oatmeal, soups, sandwiches, paninis, and coffee drinks. My go to favorites are the sliced baguette with a side order of creamy dill sauce, hot baked croissants, Chinese chicken salad, and spicy Thai chicken soup. The smallest size of baguette is the one third, that's the size I get along with creamy dill sauce. Mmm. The bread has a soft interior with crisp crust. Luv dipping it into the sauce. It does have dairy in it though. The house made unsweetened iced tea and magi iced tea are also favorites of mine. The last time I was here, I ordered half sandwich and half salad combo. The sandwiches are ok. With the mayo and wetness of the tomato and lettuce slices, it makes the bread a bit soggy though. Bon appetit!
The blueberry and cheese pastry and chocolate chip cookie are both so delicious. The Hot Panini Chicken Club is good too.
I came here today for lunch, I've been here before and other La Bou locations. This is by far the worst food and service experience. I always order the Asian noodle Salad, I had three bites of noodles and all that is left is a bunch of spinach, since when did the Asian noodle salad become a spinach salad?!?! I paid $8 for a bunch of spinach, what a joke! To top it off the woman who took my order saw my name and asked if she could asked if she could call me something else. That should have been my first clue to walk out. I will NEVER come here again.

The bread is soft, mushy and not toasted and the cheese isn't melted. Normally I would assume it was just a bad day but I got there before the lunch rush and there were 4 employees and only 2 other customers. Maybe if you're in a pinch this will do but to me this was waste. $20 for 2 items and both items are barely edible. Disappointing
Adj: Still tried and true and tasty Had a work-related seminar to attend and coffee and breakfast refreshments were served. La Bou was the caterer and the coffee was flavorful and strong without any bitterness or unwanted acidic, so it was a solid and smooth cup of coffee. There were 2 types of non-diary creamer too, Oat milk and Almond milk, which is the one I chose that day and it was good, no sugar for me. There was also a wide selection of pastries and I picked my usual favorite which is a chocolate croissant. This thing was humungous. I only ate like 1/3 of it, it was a bit on the greasy side, I almost thought it was fried rather than baked which of course doesn't make sense, but it was quite oily even. Other than that it tasted good. Definitely not for finishing in one sitting though. There were also fruit cups and yogurt parfait which is what I picked and it was nice and sweet w/tons of blueberries in some syrup on the bottom, vanilla yogurt in the middle and granola on top, mixing it all up, the texture was good, it is not a healthy high protein yogurt by any means, but it sure gave me a boost of energy, and I only ate a few bites. Overall, everything tasted good if a bit too oily for the pastry and a bit too sweet for the parfait, but everything was fresh and the coffee was fragrant and robust. read more
This bakery and cafe can be a hit or miss depending on what you order. When I used to work across the street, I had colleagues who always ordered soup here each day, since the soup is reasonably priced. My colleague and I ordered sandwiches and were happy that they were able to wrap each half sandwich individually. The avocado goat cheese sandwich was made on really fresh bread and also the ingredients were perfect and not too overpowering. Overall I enjoy the sandwiches here but do think they could have more vegetarian options. read more

Came here with my new boss for lunch. I had the spinach salad and added the herb chicken. The sale was amazing. Service was good too so I will definitely come back. read more

Today I ordered a large chicken Cesar salad. When my order was ready, it was a small asian chicken, salad. I brought back the salad and told the worker I ordered a chicken Cesar salad. I realized he only charged me for the small Cesar chicken salad. I paid $14.56 because I added chicken. So they remake my order and once I got my order I had to leave since my lunch was almost over. Then I realized the salad has no chicken!! It was too late to go back. I've been here before and never had an issue with my order. But I guess it was because it got busy. read more

This place is great for a small breakfast or lunch meal. They have all sorts of drinks and you will surly find something you'll like. Portions aren't huge but it's fresh, filling and tasty. The people running this place are all so nice and the place is clean. Try the Thai soup, its great! read more

La Bou is a decent cafe, serving sandwiches, soups, salads, paninis, pastries, coffee, and a few breakfast items. I've been coming to this location for years and they have always been OK. Their products are nothing of excellence, but not awful either. Today I came in for breakfast and ordered the apricot scone. It's not bad - nice and crunchy on the outside, yet dry and doughy on the inside. I wish there were more apricots in the scone though, as I only had one or two little pieces. The prices went up again 4 months ago. It use to be $1.90, then $2.19, and now $2.39. Their mocha (now $3.50) is light and soothing, but not likely to win any coffee awards. One very popular and tasty item is their garlic bread (for all carb lovers)! Customer service - great! Yay for hiring good employees! The male that helped me was friendly, polite, quick, and efficient. Most importantly, he smiled during the entire transaction. I didn't ask his name, but the name on the receipt was Josh. Thanks Josh! Apparently, this location is an independent La Bou and the only La Bou in Sacramento that does not accept the corporate La Bou gift card (the white colored gift card, as opposed to this location's black one). Boo! (cuz I had one that's been sitting around for over a year and I thought I could finally get rid of it). O Street - here i come! :P read more
Ahhhh, La Bou... sounds like a really fancy place to eat, doesn't it? Well... it's not. La Bou is just your average sandwich/cafe place to grab a quick bite to eat. Don't come here expecting to be blown away... except for maybe the prices... which are a bit higher than you'd probably want to pay for the amount/quality of food you get. La Bou does have a variety of unique sandwiches to choose from, including some Vietnamese inspired ones. I gave one a try today but the sandwich didn't work that well for me. It was like a Bahn Mi, but with ciabatta bread. The bread just didn't fit the sandwich. In past visits I've had their more traditional sandwiches like the club with turkey, bacon, and avocado. It's a decent sandwich, but nothing that will blow your mind. The half salad that I got in my combo was pretty decent. I enjoyed the tasty Chinese chicken salad. The combination of chicken, peanuts, and crispy lettuce was good. The dressing it came with paired well. I probably come here more than I should whenever I visit the Capitol building as it's not the best place to get eats in the area... but something always draws me back to it. In all, La Bou is a decent restaurant with some ok food if you're looking to grab something quick in downtown Sacramento. read more

I've had a lot better sandwiches than this. Being right across the street from the capitol building.... come on guys! Most of their stuff is pre-made, and pre-wrapped. Good for those of us on the run, then again, I can get something like this from a vending machine. The soup was pretty good (I had the clam chowder) and the place is pretty cute and surprisingly packed. Will I come back here? Nope. read more
