I enjoyed my experience at Moonbelly. I arrived 5 minutes after they open and there was already a line. It moved fast and the people were friendly while taking your order. The pastries itself was pretty good! I got the tomato feta pastry, the cheddar broccoli with chili flakes pastry, strawberry blueberry peanut butter pastry, the cardamom bun and the chocolate croissant. My favorites were the cardamom bun which had a nice flakiness to it and had the perfect amount of cardamom flavor on top. The pastries with feeling I think would have been better if warmed up but I did not as I was too excited to try them. My brother did feel like strawberry blueberry pastry was a little burnt around the edges so it was not his favorite but he did like the filling. All in all I would definitely come back for that cardamom bun again!

We finally made it on a Saturday in the early afternoon after doing errands around the area. We made it around 12:30/1? There was still a long line that was almost out the door inside. Almost everything was out! It was the bare essentials of what was left. No more fun items to try, but still grateful that there was something to try. We ordered her favorite, chocolate croissant, brown butter almond cake, and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything was moist, soft and delicious! We can't wait to try to make it in the am at opening next time to try their fun items! They even have repacked cookies and jar jams for sale on the shelves. Lots of cute ceramics for purchase as well. So glad we made it once.
This place is currently my favorite bakery in Sac. One of the best banana bread I had. It's soft, moist, chunks of chocolate and turns out perfectly every single time I get it. I also had the cinnamon bun which was evenly coated with cinnamon sugar, very soft and fluffy in the inside. Tips: eat it the day of when it's fresh off the oven otherwise the next day will be a bit hard even after you reheat it.
Ever since my best friend moved to Sac, she's wanted us to come to Moonbelly. On my most recent trip to see her, we finally made it happen! So, expect a line lol! The bun was super cardamom-forward, which I enjoyed, and I loved the savory nuttiness. Both pastries were flaky, buttery, and so soft. I enjoyed sampling my best friends pastries as well! I'm not too familiar with the bakery scene in Sac, but I do enjoy Moonbelly Bakery and would love to come back. The bakery is off Folsom Blvd. with free parking in their lot out front! Go early for all their offerings and indulge!
Moonbelly is one of my absolute favorite bakeries in the area. They're only open Friday through Sunday and they have different items available throughout the day. I suggest going right at opening for the best variety of breakfast items, and the best chance to get your favorites, however they do start serving sandwiches and some other items later in the day (Everything goes quickly though). They have a great variety of fresh baked items, including sweet and savory options. They have whole loaves of bread, cookies, croissants, rolls, and more. They also have items on the shelves like jars of jam, cookies, ceramics, candles, and pickled goods. My favorite item here is the garlic bun ($4.20). They're so flaky and delicious, with the perfect amount of savory garlic flavor. The chocolate chip shortbread cookies ($3.25) are in my top list as well, with just the right amount of sweetness, they go perfectly with tea or a cup of coffee. The Flourless Chocolate Cookies ($3.50) is unreal, so gooey and indulgent. Those are most of the regular items we try to get, but everything here is wonderful, and it's worth trying any new-to-you item you see. They also have coffee, hot chocolate, cold brew and a few other drink options and they're always so good. I ordered cold brew on my last visit and it was SO GOOD! The team here is so kind and they work super hard to get people through the line. They're always happy to answer questions and if the food doesn't put you in a good mood their cheerful smiles will. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's an outdoor area where you can enjoy your items right away, and they do have a parking lot, but finding parking can be tricky when they're busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

So delicious, every item is worth trying and I don't easily say that. You can taste the quality difference which makes the price point worth it as well. I got a total of 11 items for a small gathering which came out to around $49 before tip; each item was a hit. Favorites were the ham and egg, flourless chocolate cookie and the cardamom buns.

But fantastic), broccoli cheddar (solid, was hoping for a bit more cheddar forward) and the potato n ham (solid). The staff were very friendly and on point with their suggestions. Parking lot is small to keep that in mind and get here early there is a line. Add this to your Sac list.

The owner and the employees are fabulous humans who care about their customers and are always giving back to the community. I got the shortbread chocolate chip cookie and it was AMAZING. I have never had anything like this. The texture is perfect and the chocolate is sweet but not too sweet!! SERVICE: The staff was very sweet! AMBIANCE: [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot is so charming...everything you would look for in a cute little bakery![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] OVERALL, will I be back? Just went here for the first time. The line was out the door and down the side of the next building, but it went pretty fast. I tried the brown butter almond cake, the cardamom bun, the peanut butter and strawberry tart, and the flourless chocolate cookie. Everything was wonderful! I had a hard time deciding which was my favorite - probably the brown butter almond cake. Lucia, the owner, is also letting my Girl Scout troop come here to learn about owning a business, using local ingredients, and baking. This is a great community business!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Its a small outfit, but gosh, their display case was amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Essentially, I left with a sampler of savory & sweet 9 items and a set of twists for$63.47. A bit pricy, but so worth it for the quality handmade artisanal breads and pastries. Also all the staff were super friendly and helpful, def. tip-worthy.

Possibly the best bakery I've tried in the Sac area. Small parking lot so we ended up parking a block up the street and walked down. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is no seating inside but there are a few benches outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I think the favorite thing I got here was their "not pizza" which was their sourdough bread topped with delicious tomato sauce, cheese, etc. Amazing and so soft and fluffy. I also really enjoyed their banana bread (insanely moist) and egg and ham cup. Prices are reasonable (croissants are less than $5) and service is fast despite the line out the door. Very high quality stuff and worth the drive if you are coming from out of the area. You won't be disappointed. I wouldn't be surprised if this place continues to get more popular. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You haven't lived if you've never started your Saturday morning with a walk to Moonbelly bakery to get a garlic bun and hear live Bluegrass music![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]! [[HIGHLIGHT]]No, I'm not kidding. Live Bluegrass music at 8 AM. This is what life should be like![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I only found this spot because I was nearby and looking for a bite to eat. I heard that there was usually a line out the door and I must've had good timing because there was only about five people in front of me and I was able to walk right in and just have a short wait in line. I grabbed the chocolate banana bread, a garlic bun, a potato and crème fraîche, savory pastry, and an egg and ham pastry. Definitely been on a big banana bread kick lately and this one did not disappoint. Tons of chocolate chips! The garlic bun was by far my absolute favorite. It was crispy and at the same time so buttery like a croissant, and the garlic flavor was amazing. Not overpowering not that spicy garlic taste when a recipe overdoes it, just perfect garlic, butter, crisp and light. Absolute heaven. I was a little sad that I was there alone and no one to share it with so I'm sharing with all of you today... you absolutely have to try this spot Lots of little items for purchase on the shelf to some handmade pottery, hand, carved salad, tongs, and even print of the bakery. Every time I am in the area I love coming here because they have really great pastry selection here. They are hands down the best Patisserie shop in Sacramento for sure. . I love coming here for their traditional croissant and they also have other ones like Savory ham and cheese and even a galette too with berries. They have a wide variety of seasonal selections to your classic loaf of bread and sandwiches too. . They are also serving some coffee from your latte to your traditional espresso over ice and americanos. They even have lemonade too if you looking for something refreshing. . [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is quite small with no seating but the line is always quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have an outdoor seating with benches so if you like to enjoy it there they have that for you. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The parking is kind of tight and limited as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Overall I say this is a must visit for anyone that likes Patisserie to bake Goods. This bakery was very good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The moment you walk in it smells delightful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have very limited hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bakery is not very big just enough room for a few people to order, there's no seating in the inside but they do have patio space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I the pastries were so good. We tried the ham and cheese sandwich (similar to a croquet Monsieur), rhubarb & strawberry galette, cinnamon morning bun, lemon poppyseed morning bun, and a strawberry and peanut butter croissant. All of them were excellent. The lemon poppyseed morning bun had a lot of poppyseeds and you are taking whole bites of poppyseed. So if you are not a fan of poppyseed you will most likely not enjoy that as much. It's also not too lemony so even if you don't like lemon, you can still like it. The strawberry peanutbutter croissant thing also did not have too much peanut butter, it was the perfect hint. The staff was very friendly and answered all my question regarding which pastries to try. I definitely recommend trying this bakery! read more
Moonbelly Bakery was fantastic! It has been on my "to visit" list for a while and I finally made it over there this past weekend. I saw some people lined up outside and wasn't sure if it was just for dining in or not, but it turns out - you need to line up regardless if you're eating there or taking it to go to. It's quite a small space. The line moves pretty quickly though. Parking is really tight. I got lucky and pulled in just as someone was leaving, but I also drive a Mommy SUV so it was a squeeze getting in and out. As for the pastries - yum! I took home 2 flourless chocolate cookies, a pear cream cheese tart, a chocolate croissant, and an almond something or other cake. I've tried most by now, but we still have the cake and a cookie left (my daughter wants it). The cookie is AMAZING - I will be back for those for sure! They're so rich and decadent, not too thick, a little chewy, not crispy, not too soft; they're perfection. The tart and the croissant were great too and made for a yummy late night snack with some tea. read more

This is a super cute little bakery with delicious baked goods with trinkets and great gift items. There is no indoor seating, but there is a nice space right outside with a few seats. I got the apple galette and it was SO delicious! Priced a little high, but almost worth it. The hours of operation may be off, when I check it said it closed at 1:30pm. When I arrived at 1:45pm, I was pleasantly surprised to find it still open! read more
I'm so glad I got to experience the delicious offerings from Moonbelly. I'm a little sad I didn't try them sooner but now that I know how good they are, I will try to visit them more often. We tried a couple croissants, almond cake, potato creme fraiche pastry, and the blackberry plum galette. All items were good and my favorites were the almond cake and galette. So fresh and so light and flaky. Next time I want to try their banana bread, some of their crusty breads, and maybe a sandwich if we get there early enough. We took our pastries and ate them with coffee from The Mill down the street. Service was very nice and quick. It can get busy but the line moved fast. read more
Got Galette: Its like a fruit pie. Tasty but it was a little sweeter for my taste. I personally would say less sweet/fruit syrup. Still really good Quiche: It was curry potatoes. Oh yumm. Egg + Ham: They put an entire egg. Really, cant go wrong with any of their pastries it seems like depending on your specific taste. read more

First time out here. Everything was great but the almond cake was my favorite...so moist and just the right amount of sweet. The only thing is the long line to get in. It's a small place so the queue goes out the door and I wouldn't say the line moves quickly despite their best efforts. That said, service was very friendly. Would come back more if it were closer to me. read more
My friend brought his office some pastries and I luckily ran into him. He allowed me first choice of all the delicious looking pastries. I devoured the egg, bacon, and croissant pastry? Not sure but it was absolutely amazing. Thank goodness I have such a great friend! read more

Moonbelly is one of my go-to spots to get pastries in sacramento. They are constantly selling seasonal pastries and also keep their classics stocked. The summer galettes are mouth watering. The croissant dough is flaky and always cooked to perfection. I also love their weekly rotating coffee flavors. Their space inside is pretty small but packed with deliciousness and kind, attentive staff. I always like to go right when they open or at around 10am, that's when the line isn't as long. But even if you do end up having to stand in line, it moves quickly! read more

Get in my belly, Moonbelly! Wow! I was pleasantly surprised when the husband and I popped in one Friday morning for an end-of-the-week treat. We were prepped and ready for limited parking and long lines.... and then we arrived and the lot was fine (shared, yes but not crazy small). Luckily, there were no lines either at about 8:30. We were in and out in no time! We selected a nice assortment of goodies, from sweet to savory. Highly recommend the mushroom Gruyère pastry. Flaky, savory and satisfying. Yum! Prices are, you pay for what you get. Not exactly cheap, but you're paying for high quality yummy goodness! read more
bakery stop + shopping = great morning :) my sister brought me here this morning for the first time for pastries before a lil shopping date and it was soooo yummy!! we got the cinnamon and cardamom rolls and they were sooooooo good. the staff were so sweet and very efficient!! we also got the whiskey persimmon bread but unfortunately... neither of us liked it LOL. doesn't matter though because i will definitely be coming back!! #morningbun read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Moonbelly's handcrafted elegance makes me feel somehow earthy, fancy, artsy, and a little more human ~ all at the same time![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I regularly stock up on their fresh sourdough breads ~ slice and freeze them at home, and wow my houseguests when it comes time for toast. Pastries are wonderful, seasonal, world-class. Anything Meyer lemon is my favorite, and recently they had a cheesy pumpkin sandwich that was unbelievable. Came here on a Sunday about 45 minutes prior to closing. I was scared there wasn't going to be much variety to choose from left considering the time we came, but to my surprise they still did have a lot! I've been wanting to try this place as the photos of their croissants look absolutely stunning. I came and got a chocolate croissant which I will break down below: -nice and flaky shell -soft buttery on the inside -great chocolate to croissant ratio (this one most places mess up on, but you really do get chocolate in every bite) -fresh and warm upon order (i think they just had a new batch come out, but I wouldn't doubt that they'll heat up yours if requested) The ambiance of the place was very cozy. You have pottery, cookies, and sauces for sale on the wall across the cash register and a bucket with local flowers to choose from at the front by the cash register. Service was quick and kind and the prices were fairly reasonable. $4.50 for a hefty chocolate croissant is typical nowadays. Overall, I would absolutely return and I want to try their baguette and "girl dinner" sandwich next! :) read more
3.5 stars. Their stuff is more on the sweeter side. They haven't really perfected their baking their pastry through. I prefer Faria's but would keep this in my rotation for when I'm craving more of a sweeter taste. Service was quick, there is a covered seating area attached outside. Friendly staff and a wonderful selection of baked goods and pastries. This has got to be one of the top bakeries in Sacramento! I love their unique offerings and always want to try everything. We ordered the persimmon apricot walnut bread and the banana bread with chocolate and both were very good, sugar crusts on both. The ham and cheese melt is excellent their ham is very high quality. What was a great surprise was the carrot, goat cheese, and hot honey sandwich. The bread quality was outstanding! Definitely a must-order if they have it. We also tried the leek quiche, which was very fluffy and cooked well - my partner loved it but I found there too be a little bit too much crust and a little light in flavor. Still great quality though! The location has a parking lot and a small area to sit outside. The inside is fairly small and just enough for maybe 4-5 people to queue up. They also have a super cute collection of items for purchase on the side wall too. I noticed some really beautiful and unique ceramic plates and some pre-packaged baked goods. So many delicious choices! I had heard so many wonderful things about this DARLING bakery and FINALLY made over to pick up some of their FANTASTIC bread! It is small on the inside but they have a comfortable outdoor eating area. Bought the Focaccia (did not get picture!) and an almond croissant. The croissant melted in my mouth! how is that possible?! One of the best pastries I have ever had! The service was attentive, polite and so welcoming. I hope this place is around for many many many years to come and can't wait to pick up more delectable items! Recommend! read more

When's the least busy day/time to go and still be able to get a variety of goodies?
Probably Friday mornings. But I've gone on Saturdays and Sundays and if you get there between 8-9 you'll have plenty to choose from!
