Came to Midtown Bakery for Biscuit Monday's! They a have bunch of little goodies, but if you're here for their biscuits, you have to preorder as pickup is from 7-9 am. My boyfriend and I finally had the time to come on a Monday (after the gym lol). We ordered a couple of items to try and I'll tell you I was full after a couple of bites and it carried me for the rest of day. We ordered jalapeño cheddar and classic sausage patty, egg, & cheese biscuit sandwich and biscuit 2 pack: blueberry and brown sugar biscuit. While picking up my boyfriend was recommended the cinnamon roll and he caved and got it! We had our pickup time at 7:30, but we showed up a little early and got our food around 7:20. There was a bit of a wait since there were some people ahead of us, so I'd recommend you going a bit earlier than your time just in case you're in a rush. We headed home to try everything. We really enjoyed the biscuits themselves as they didn't leave a dry or grainy feeling in your mouth. They had a good crust while being airy and light inside. The sandwiches were good, but they were anything crazy. Size wise it is small for the price you get, but I get it. It's all house made and fresh. We definitely think the biscuits themselves are the standout. The blueberry and brown sugar biscuits were a sweet tooth's heaven. The cinnamon roll wasn't too sweet either and had great texture and basically melted in your mouth. I never knew about midtown bakery before midtown biscuits so I would definitely come back to check out their other items, while getting those biscuits! read more

We've stopped in a few times now, usually on the weekend while walking through the city. I have heard Monday's are the day to visit though, because they offer sweet and savory biscuits (though you need to pre-order). It's a small shop and there's usually a line, but they move pretty quickly and it's nice to have time to decide what you're going to order. On my last visit we picked up a couple brownies, a cookie, and one of their savory corn muffins with bacon and jalapeno. All the items are prices well, and are very fresh. I loved the brownies, especially the one with nuts. They're the perfect fudgy texture and while they're a good size, it's hard to stop eating them once you start. I recommend stopping in early for the most variety, they're the type of spot that once they run out of something it's gone for the day, and everything I've tried so far has been delicious. read more

I've never been here for the pastries before but I've heard good things! It's a bit hidden but just look for the light blue door. For my first visit I pre-ordered their biscuits, which are only available Monday mornings from 7-9am. I was unable to get the brown sugar biscuit shown on their instagram for the month of February so it's possible it sold out before I could place my order, so make sure to stay on top of that if you want a specific flavor! The biscuit sandwiches were pretty good but since the biscuits are so thick, it's a bit hard to eat as a sandwich. I basically just ate mine without the top half and then ate the top half separately after, with the delicious strawberry butter that I added to my order. If I could round up to 4.5 stars, I would, for that strawberry butter! The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because although they were good sandwiches, I wouldn't say it was anything too unique, especially at $13 for the most expensive sandwich (with andouille sausage) and $10 for the cheapest (egg and cheese). I wish I had gotten the chance to try the brown sugar biscuit because we only had plain and blueberry for ours, which seem to be more obtainable at other places. I want to try something more unique that would bring me back to this place only. I'll definitely keep an eye out because I want to try more of the different butter flavors and more biscuit flavors! read more

I was taking a walk with my coffee and wanted a sweet treat. I check the map quickly and saw I was a 3 minute walk from this bakery so I decided to check it out. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The presentation of the baked goods were very appeasing. The cakes looked moist. I was overwhelmed by everything and wanted it all. The owner suggested the vegan chocolate chip cookie. This was definitely not what I had in mind but I said yes. I just ate it and it was delicious. I like to try vegan goods because if you can make a vegan baked good taste delicious then I trust you. The cookie is made with tahini, the perfect chocolate chip ratio, and a but of sea salt. Fortunate to find parking just in front of bakery. Stopped by on a Friday at 11:30am. I wasn't sure what to buy, but a couple of regular customers walked up behind me. They said that the French puffs and the BBSCCCC were a must try. The BBSCCCC is a browned butter salted caramel chocolate chip caramel cookie. On Fridays, from 11-1pm, the bakery offers focaccia sandwiches for purchase. So, I settled on a couple of French puffs, one BBSCCCC, brownie with walnuts, and pastrami focaccia. Everything was delicious. The French puff was not what I expecting. Instead of light and airy, the puff is cake-like inside rolled in cinnamon sugar. I had to read up on its history. It's perfect with coffee/tea. Best served warm. The focaccia had thinly sliced pastrami, cheese and greens. The focaccia was the perfect vehicle for the sandwich. This was my third visit to this delightful mom and pop bakery tucked inside a charming Victorian in Midtown. Reluctantly, I must share how great this place is at the expense of gatekeeping it for myself... but it seems the cat is out of the bag anyway, and they deserve all the praise. The same friendly guy has helped me all three times I've been in. On my first visit, he even threw in 2 free French Puffs, which is their signature cinnamon sugar donut hole-esque dessert, which was quite a unique and tasty treat. The first time I visited, I fell in love with their chocolate cake: moist, tender, perfectly sweet, with a rich and deeply flavored chocolate frosting. I have to order a slice every time now. On this most recent trip, I ordered another slice of that cake along with the cherry cheesecake and a slice of coffee cake. I've never once been disappointed by anything from Midtown Bakery. From the kind staff to the charming location to the excellent desserts, it's easily one of the best businesses in Sacramento. You can truly taste the love and passion in everything they make. It's a IYKYK type thing, but also I ran across it on TT! Midtown Bakery takes biscuit PREORDERS Thursday through Sunday for a Monday AM ONLY pickup, 7AM/7:30/8AM/8:30AM time slots. You cannot order the biscuits on their regular website, you have to use midtown-biscuits.com, a different website altogether! They have biscuit breakfast sandwiches with a variety of proteins and plain biscuits and flavored butter. I am definitely a plain biscuit girl, but wanted to try one of the breakfast biscuit sandwiches. I got the BEC on a biscuit and while it was okay, it was not my fave -- but this is totally a preference thing. Biscuits are too dense for me for a sandwich, I like lighter options -- think bagel or sourdough toast. HOWEVER! The biscuit with the brown sugar glaze was SO good! And the honey butter was delicious and my fave, although the strawberry butter was good too. Next order will be one of each of the standard biscuits and both butters again. This is more my style. A side door that you may miss if you're not paying attention, but a must visit spot. I'd heard great things about the bakery and finally was able to visit one Saturday afternoon but as seen in the picture, I recommend going early. We were able to get a slice of oreo cheesecake and a brownie with walnuts. Both were very delicious and tasted like a lot of love went into them. You'll have to do a little hunting to find Midtown Bakery because it's tucked into the basement of an old victorian on the corner of 23rd and J. I think you'll be happy if you do, the pastries are delicious. During my visit, I ordered a corn muffin, brown butter chocolate chip cookie, and a lemon bar which came to $13.00. They also offer tasty looking treats like brownies, cakes, and coconut macaroons. I'm giving the corn muffin 5 stars because it was moist, had a nice texture, and was cooked with bacon, cheese, and jalapeños in it. I also give the chocolate chip cookie 5 stars because it was rich, crisp on the edges, soft in the middle, and was loaded with chocolate chips. Last but not least, I rate the lemon bar with 5 stars, because it had an excellent crust, creamy lemon custard on top, and just the right amount of sweetness. I have to say, their chef can really bake! Don't be discourage if there's a line at the door and you have to wait outside for a few minutes, The interior is tiny, and it's a popular, so it fills up fast. It's well worth it though. Such a cute place! It's super small that's run by a husband and wife. We got their cinnamon roll, french puffs, coffee cake, and their savory muffin which had corn, jalapeño, bacon, and cheddar. Everything was delicious!! The French puffs pretty much melt in your mouth. It's a must try. Their cinnamon roll and coffee cake were both so good. The frosting on the roll is cream cheese frosting which is my favorite and the coffee cake is made with real coffee. I definitely recommend getting their savory muffin since it was so nice and light. All of this was $21.80 but the husband working was nice enough to give us two French puffs for free!! Apparently every Monday they make biscuits so I'll definitely want to come back to try those. The owners are nice and I have enjoyed everything I have had in my two visits. The highlight is the French Puffs, which are hard to get because they serve them fresh and they go fast. The first time I missed them, and I thought I missed them the second time, but as I was about to order a fresh batch was walked out. They are a bit sweet and like donut holes with cinnamon sugar, so think about that when considering if you would like them. Biscuit Mondays at Midtown bakery! I finally got a chance to try one of their highly- rated Southern Biscuit sandwiches on my Monday off of work last week. Keep in mind that Biscuit Mondays only happen on Mondays from 7-9AM so it's always a good idea to check their instagram page for updates before heading over to the bakery on a Monday. I've often heard that they sale out of the biscuit sandwiches, so I was excited to see that they now offer the option to pre-order the biscuit sandwiches. I made sure to place my order, the day prior on a Sunday morning. When ordering online, you select a pick up time, the type of biscuit and you are able to select meat options. They offer a blueberry biscuit or plain biscuit. The bakery also sales cold brew on Mondays too. I ended up ordering two plain biscuit sandwiches with egg/ cheese only and a cold brew. There was a line out the door, when I arrived the next day to pick up my order at 8:30AM. While waiting in line, a gentleman came outside and asked if anyone had preorders. I gave him my name and he returned promptly with my order. We waited in line less than 5 mins which was nice. The gentleman who helped us was polite and friendly. He also offered me cream for the cold brew. The bakery is definitely a grab and go type of place. While the bakery does have two small side tables (standing only) that are attached to a fence on the side of the building, my mother and I decided to take our biscuits to go so we could enjoy them while sitting down. The southern biscuit sandwich was very good. It reminded me of the homemade biscuits that my grandmother makes. Midtown Bakery's biscuit was fluffy, chewy on the inside and crisp, golden brown on the top. My mom and I were both surprised at how filling the sandwich was. I often find myself in the neighborhood only to discover I'm too late either because they have sold out of their goodies or they are closed. We showed up at around 11AM on a Sunday and we got the last lemon square. Only downside is only street parking that you have to hunt for- but that is worth it in my book anyday! It was my wife and i first time visiting this bakery. We had such a nice experience with the gentleman behind the front counter. He was friendly and generous. We bought a strawberry cake and cheddar bacon muffin. Since he found out it was our first time there, he was generous enough to give us 2 free cinnamon sugar french puff. Everything didn't disappoint. Everything was fresh, soft and tasty. Intially, i did have my hesitation about how good they were going to be bc they visually looked dry, but i was wrong. I have been trying to get here after seeing them on Instagram and today was it! I had my sons with me and got a few cookies - molasses and ginger cookie peanut butter cookie and chocolate chip pecan. I have had their goodies via friends so I know it would be great. The place is super small but super cute and neat. The ambiance is sweet and I felt it was calming and magical at the same time. In short a great vibe! The cookies were to die for and one of my sons who loves peanut butter cookies told me it was better than the ones I make! Really good compliment.
