I tried the pupusas revueltas and the masa (dough) was really dry and bland. The cheese was not the typical type of cheese you can taste from the authentic pupusas. This cheese was too greasy. I also tried the chicken tamal and omg that was the nastiest tamal I have even tried. The flavor of the dough was bland, the chicken was dry, and the sauce inside had bitter taste. The tamal was so dry that when I swallowed my first bite I had to was it down with water. I didn't finish the pupusa nor tamal. Too gross to even bother. My coworker and I were craving pupusas and decided to give this place a try and we ordered take out... only 4 pupusas... well we get back to the office and open up and not one or two wrong, but all 4!!!!! Two of the ones ordered were cheese only and even those were wrong!!! I called back and spoke with Regina who was very nice and accommodating and offered to correct the order. I want to give credit and praise to Brian and Regina. I placed an online order for 12 co-workers on Tuesday 10/16. Long story short, we received 1 incorrect order, which meant 1 of our co-workers won't have a lunch. I called the restaurant as it was the only phone number I could locate. The location of restaurant could be better it's in a busy street its hard to look for parking but over all the food is so delicious and the portion of the plates is well decent and I have to say the size of a Pupusa it's perfect. My husband and I have been waiting for a Guatemalan restaurant to open closer to us in Orange County for years. We went to the La Esperanza Torrance location a few years ago and loved it. We haven't been back because of how far it was to us. We are beyond excited that this unique place has opened up close to home. Don't let the neighborhood deceive you from going to this place. It is in a rough area of town but the second we stepped in the door we were kindly greeted by two of the staff members. It is VERY clean and nicely decorated giving you the authentic feel immediately. Ox was our server. He was very friendly and made our experience wonderful. My husband is from Guatemala and the smile on his face when he received and tried his food was priceless, knowing it reminded him of his birth place. Delicious Guatemalan food that I grew up with. Nothing but the best. I lived on a short lease in Long Beach and in one of my night dates with my boyfriend we ate here. The gringo was blown away haha! He said he has never had such great food. We are such foodies. He knows that for dates I want to eat and enjoy each other's company. Thank you to our lovely server that was so sweet to us. Decided to try this restaurant based on reviews. Absolutely delicious pupusas!!! Clean place, super friendly staff, but most important, awesome food! I will be definitely telling all my friend's about this place and coming here more often. The only complaint I would have is that I also ordered a tamale and I didn't get it till after I was done with my pupusas and ready to go. But honestly, I didn't care. I was feeling lazy to cook so I grabbed some take out here. Super clean inside with friendly staff. I ordered 2 pupusa plates and some empanadas. Way more food than my wife, my daughter and I could eat. The pupusas are big...An so dman good! The salsas and semi-pickled cabbage that go on top put them over the top.
