Driving by Napa on a Sunday looking for another specific truck turns out they are close on Sundays and we came across this truck instead.Located on Soscol Ave.,they had some tables for you to seat and wait or eat your food but we took ours to go. Great menu selections including birria and fish tacos (which I hear is hwat they are known for). We ended up getting carne asada burrito and asada quesadilla for $28. Their quesadilla was ok nothing super crazy about the flavor, came with sourcream and lettuce,I did ask for pickled carrots and jalapeno which elevated the taste a little more. Super carne asada burrito was also just ok,nothing special. I did feel it was a little smaller for the price that you pay. Again I wouldn't say it was horrible it's just not something I'd come back to over and over. They also only gave me 2 small green salsa or you can purcahase more if needed. read more

YUM! We have twice stopped by for fish tacos and birria tacos- freshly prepared and mighty tasty. Courteous, quick service. My partner branched out and tried the "Cubano" which was a different spin from the traditional sandwich ... it included salchichas (hot dogs) and carne asada and fresh avocados. Basically a "kitchen sink" torta... imagine it would be a great meal after a long night. read more

Tough to be on board in terms of value, but that's mostly my fault -- I thought this was some kind of upstart ghost kitchen or something and DoorDashed my Quesabirria tacos. So, I paid an inflated ($18 vs $17, I think) menu price and the associated fees and tip. Even at the regular price, though, this seems a bit high for a food truck, considering they serve tasty, but pretty ordinary tacqueria-style menu items. The quality and flavor are there. The value isn't... So it goes in Napa. read more

I like tacos. This is a most decent place for lunch. I had three tacos: carne asada, pescado and camarone. The carne asada was $3 and smaller than the other two which cost twice at $6. All were good. The pescado was made in a batter. There was a respectable amount of shrimp on the other taco. Along with a Mexican coke you can't go wrong. They accept credit cards but the cost varies a little. read more

*Disclaimer: I ordered food here through a delivery app, and did not visit in person. I won't reference prices because I know they are higher on the apps. I had the quesabirria tacos along with an Al pastor taco. The few tablespoons of consommé they put on the side came in a tiny cup. It was a bit watery and bland. I guess it's okay I didn't get the styrofoam-cup amount that I've seen in so many videos on social media. The tacos themselves were equally small and thin. I basically inhaled once and they were gone. The Al pastor was dry for me, overall: both the meat and the taco as one. Nothing was especially strong on flavor. I'd describe it all as mid, verging on pretty okay. I'm less bothered by the amounts given than the mediocrity of the food. I had been wanting to try birria for the longest, but I don't believe this did the dish any justice. Definitely not bad, but I personally wouldn't recommend and probably won't come back. I've had amazing Mexican food from many places across the state, I don't know what's going on here. read more

I've been coming here for over 1 year & have had a few issues here, no matter how many times u ask them if they can please toast the burrito THEY WONT , one time the lady charging even said "I'll see if the cooks want to" after I asked her for that special request.... Also the prices here are a bit ridiculous Today I got charged extra for avocado , okay cool but then I noticed I had no avocado inside my burrito but I did pay for it. read more

This place was a recommendation by someone who lives near the place. I pulled up, ordered 2 tacos buche and 2 tacos cabeza. The order was in a timely manner, minor inconvenience that the sodas are in a hidden compartment underneath the window. it's a learning curve for those of us not familiar with it. Once I took a bite, the tacos were like my favorite bts song, smooth like butter!!!!! Buche and cabeza are the smoothest cut and this place did not fail. We were hungover and hungry after a day of heavy drinking. The next day we were craving more tacos. The truck is located on the big street and parked where the sidewalk is. The guy who took our order was really nice. We ordered up a taco feast to try most of their meats. Everything was good. We ordered cabeza, tripa, lengua, fish, carnitas, asada. It already came with sauce so we didn't need to add anymore. It also came with pickled jalapeño carrots and fresh radish. Our taco cravings were satisfied and great prices too! read more

Not only did they jack up the price of their fish tacos 150%, but they simply got so lazy that they don't even make them anymore. What's the point in risking eating from a taco truck when I can go to restaurant that might be cleaner and actually have what's on the menu? read more

I ordered a Carne asada burrito off of door-dash and I requested extra sour cream and guacamole on the side and said I would pay extra if nessiary. The burrito in-fact, had lite sour cream and the burrito itself was suprizingly small. A rare miss for a California taco truck. Also, nothing to write home about. The burrito flavor is neither bad nor good. Very mildly spicy. Also I think there was a thick language barrier because they never gave me my guacamole dispite my asking. I clearly said guacamole and they just looked at me confused. I'm suprized because a $16 burrito from a taco truck is usually bangin' read more

Quite possibly the worst burrito I've ever had. $15 for a Carne Asade Super Burrito, it was mostly rice, beans, with sour cream and meat. No avocado, or tomato like I was told when I asked what was in it I barely ate 3 bites and pulled out 5 pieces of straight grissle. The meat tasted off and was grey in color and not in a good way. The customer service was good but once we left the taco truck and went home to eat our food we found a small animal inside our consume. Once we opened it it was on the lid. It was really disgusting seeing something like this in a food place where everything is supposed to clean and sanitary space. This is unacceptable!!!! read more

When looking for lots of taco trucks in Napa, you have to come down to two things, is the food good and is it cheap? And when it comes to La Esperanza you only get one, it's good. I'm currently on the quest to find the best Birria in Napa (best doesn't just mean the taste-- but also the best in value) so this truck flew on my radar. When I arrived there was little to no wait, though sometimes I do find lots of folks standing around, and as I approached I was bombared with tons of images of meals they offer especially the word "quesabirria". I'm not too sure what the hype has been about "quesabirria" as I think it stems from popularity on the internet but regardless I bit. $18. $18 is how much a quesabirria cost and that's just for three of them. Now for the food review, the quesabirria is pretty good! The meat tastes high quality and it's seasoned to perfection, the consommé on the other hand though is terrible, extremely runny, little to no taste, honestly tastes like they put some tap water in a condiment cup with a drop of salsa. With the kindness of my heart I cannot recommend this spot unless you're making upwards of six figures a year. $18 is just not feasible for street food (hence the word STREET). read more

Darn good steak tacos! The tacos were fresh, the tortilla was soft and didn't rip and the meat was plentiful and tasty. Great salsa as well, went well with the wine we drank at the winery near by. This is just on the side of the road, happy to have seen it and grab a bunch of tacos for lunch. read more

Been eating at La Esperanza for years. Shrimp burrito has always been a favorite, shrimp tacos are great too. Pastor, carnitas and chorizo tacos are also favorites. I'd write a longer review but thinking about La Esperanza's food made me hungry so I'm heading out for tacos now. Update: Quesabirria was delicious. read more

Picked this truck today because I've had excellent shrimp burritos from them in years past. Really wished I hadn't. I ordered 2 super burritos, one pastor and one carnitas. The pastor was flavorless and practically had no meat in it and the carnitas was mushy and without much flavor either. They both had a hint of cinnamon flavor which I think must've been in the rice ...not cool. At $12 a piece, I felt like a sucker when more than half of these went in the trash. Also ordered a couple fish tacos, also gross. The fish filet in each was super greasy and was only slightly crispy on the ends. I really wish I would've gone to Tacos Michoacán a bit farther down Soscol, hate to be negative because the guy in the truck was super nice. Everything in Napa has gone down hill because they can get away with charging whatever and not even caring about the quality and the people will just eat it up. Back in the day, like in the late 90s there was a truck on Soscol called tacos la playita. The super burrito was $3.50 and couldn't be beat. I know inflation sucks and the cost of doing business is ridiculous, but I'd gladly pay $20 for a burrito of that quality today. Tacos La Esperanza? More like sín Esperanza. read more

Right away you notice the great customer service as the gentleman takes your order. He is positive and welcoming. A veggie burrito is $7 which is a great deal for what you are getting. The place feels clean and orderly. The main pro of this place is the food, which is what you want. It has a soft, smooth taste that goes down easy. Everything just melts in your mouth and all the veggies are fresh. The tortilla is delicious and obviously home made. This is the best burrito in town. I've only been to a few but this is the best one so far. read more

Plain, trusty, good tacos. This is a good truck to stop by on Soscol. They are the most likely to be there when you go looking for an inexpensive, delicious meal. The tacos are fairly small and they are sort of boring compared to some other other trucks in the area but Esperanza is worth a bite. read more

We came here because a Yelp review said they had the "best" pupusas and they were closing in an hour. The woman at the window has immediately rude. And when I asked about pupusas, she nearly rolled her eyes and said they've never sold pupusas. When I asked what's inside a torta cubana she pointed a the picture menu they have outside (again the literal eye roll). My guess is that they were in a hurry because they closed about 10 minutes after they gave us our food (so not an hour?). The pastor and chicken tacos were bleh. So was the torta, and the horchata was pure sugar. I guess the only thing that was decent was the fish taco, but we won't be coming back. No gracias señora grosera. read more

This was the best meal we had in Napa!! We ordered a fish taco, a chicken taco and two veggie burritos and by far was the best tasting and most satisfying meal we had in our long weekend stay in Napa. Many of the restaurants in Napa with a 4 star rating are mediocre so was disappointed with most of the food we ate. We asked a few locals where we should eat given our disappointing experience and they all said try the taco trucks! Best rec we got!! read more

Would give zero if I could. Just left and made the wrong decision to wait to eat till I got home. Burrito(s) -barely no meat all rice -no sour cream or guacamole which should of come in the super burrito and I made sure to ask for it. Knowing that these trucks like to conveniently forget the sour cream and guacamole, my wife went back and asked for it and he gave us two green salsas and charged us for it. I am not one to come to Yelp and complain, but I am tired of these god awful Mexican food trucks just not caring. Stay away from this place. read more

We stumbled upon this taco truck by pure ACCIDENT and ordered some pupusa and beef tacos. WOW WOW WOW. The best pupusas ever. In the World. They were made to order so they came out piping hot with their amazing salsa and special orange sauce. Simply so good. The truck was parked near the Silverado Trail, across from a gas station. We will definitely hunt for the truck again when we are in town. read more

I have a bicycle from Martinez to Napa and back that takes me right past this taco truck. Let me tell you this taco truck is amazing! Quick, super tasty, and a great price. Today I got the fish taco. The batter was light and crunchy. The topping were fresh and the sauces complimented the fish instead of overwhelming it. Cost for the fish taco, a very reasonable $3. Oh, and if you dig on Coke in the bottle they have the media litre. What did I learn today? There are other taco trucks in the area, but why try to improve on perfection? read more

This place was uber-good. This was my first Taco Truck experience and I had very high expectations after all I had heard about the excellent food offered at food trucks. I ordered a Steak Taco, a Fish Taco, and a Spicy Pork Burrito plus a soda and still only spent $8.00. WHAT?!?!? Super inexpensive. The tacos were both delightful. The spicy sauce had a wonderful, flavorful heat. The steak was tender and the fish was just perfectly fried. Delicate with a nice crunchy exterior. Soo soo good. The Spicy Pork Burrito was literally a foot long. It was HUGE and HEAVY! Stuffed with beans and a really nice pork that had an excellent kick to it. It all seemed so simple that it didn't make sense that it was that delicious. I highly recommend finding and stopping at La Esperanza Taco Truck if you are passing through Napa. read more

After months of poor communication and several displays of unprofessionalism, I tried to cancel our contract 6 weeks prior to our wedding date. I was in a dispute with the owner (Gabe) to try and get a refund for an event he hadn't even catered, and he refused to provide it. Note that the owner himself has stated that he thinks his business is headed to an end. See attached photo for text messages I received from him with this claim. If anything, you don't want to work with someone who cannot maintain a professional demeanor in their client correspondence. In case you need further convincing to NOT hire Ring of Fire, feel free to read through my ordeal below. --- In February of this year, I reached out in search of a wedding caterer. Gabe invited me and my partner to a complimentary tasting with other couples who were interested in booking. The tasting went great (the ONLY thing that went well in all my interactions with them) so we booked and paid a 50% deposit. Over the next few months I reached out to get deadlines and feedback on our proposed menu. After repeated attempts to contact him, the only time he really reached out was to offer a discount on our balance if we paid it early. In hindsight, this should have been a *red flag* - no professional would ever reach out to a client to ask them to pay something in advance of the contract terms unless they were poorly managing their business and finances. Instead, thinking it was gesture of customer service, we went ahead and paid our balance early to get the discount. However, after paying, Gabe unprofessionally asked us to reschedule our already confirmed site tour in favor of booking another lunch. My wedding coordinator and I agreed to reschedule, only to have him NO SHOW for the site tour. 15 minutes after the confirmed meeting time I called Gabe to get his ETA. He didn't seem to know where our venue was (even though he accepted a calendar event with the date, time, and address in it) and told me was still 50 minutes away so we proceeded without him. I worked with an attorney and determined the best course of action was to file a dispute with the credit card company AND to sue him in small claims court as backup. Luckily, the credit card company resolved the dispute in my favor but I still experienced an extreme amount of stress trying to book a new caterer with less than 6 weeks from my wedding date - something I would never wish on any bride. Again, please save yourself the stress and look elsewhere for your caterer.

I did have a bit of a challenge attacking this since it was a huge sandwich, but I definitely liked it. The Cheesesteak was a bit messy (in a good way) but was a nice size for a full one; probably should have gotten a half one but oh well. The sliced steak was tender and juicy, while I also enjoyed the flavors of the cherry peppers and garlic mayo. Would definitely order this again. This was an experience I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to check out. Will go back hopefully soon to try some other items.

We visited La Cheve on a Sunday and immediately noticed the long line. That alone didn't discourage…read moreus. We had seen the restaurant featured on Check, Please! Bay Area and had heard plenty of positive reviews, so we were genuinely excited to finally try it. One thoughtful touch is that La Cheve provides umbrellas for guests waiting in line, which is especially appreciated when you're standing outside under the sun. It's a small gesture, but one that shows the restaurant has put some thought into making the waiting experience a little more comfortable. They also offer the option to order coffee through a QR code while waiting in line. I ordered a large black coffee, while my partner ordered a café con leche. Unfortunately, it took about 25 minutes for the drinks to be ready. When we picked them up, the café con leche was served in the same large cup as my coffee--but it was only half full, with roughly a quarter cup of coffee and another quarter consisting of foam. It felt odd drinking from a large half-full cup. Once we reached the counter, though, we were greeted with a warm smile, which was appreciated. We ordered the chilaquiles with an addition of Al Pastor meat, the asada and eggs, the concha French toast, a cronut, the house lager, and a local craft beer. it took approximately an hour and a half from the time we got in line until we were finally seated. By that point, we were more than ready to eat, and despite the long wait, we were still excited to see what the kitchen could do. Unfortunately, that excitement faded quickly once the food arrived. The concha French toast was a big disappointment. The menu description had immediately caught our attention, and we expected something that combined the richness and texture of French toast with the distinctive character of a concha. Instead, we received four small, shortcake-style pieces of bread that were dry and didn't particularly resemble either French toast or a concha. There was no noticeable cinnamon-egg batter, nor any powdered sugar. The dish was served with fresh berries and a side of cajeta ( a craft caramel sauce). The caramel itself was delicious, but it wasn't enough to make up for the lackluster bread. The chilaquiles were the biggest disappointment, and unfortunately, this dish had several execution issues altogether. The tortilla chips were soggy, lacking the texture you'd expect from well-executed chilaquiles. I also ordered the dish with Al Pastor meat, hoping to get a taste of the restaurant's house adobo. Instead, what arrived was a measly portion of tiny pieces and crumbs of meat that appeared to be mostly the remnants from the bottom of the pan. Then there was the oil. There was an excessive amount of it-- so much that a pool had collected in one corner of the plate (see picture below). I actually had to ask the server for extra paper napkins so I could soak up the oil. It was difficult to appreciate the pastor's seasoning or adobo from the oily portion that I was served. The eggs were another example of inconsistency with this plate. I specifically ordered them over medium, expecting set whites with a warm, runny yolk. Instead, the eggs were cooked very unevenly. One was noticeably overcooked, while the other was so thoroughly cooked that the yolk had essentially been obliterated. For a dish that relies on relatively simple ingredients, getting something as fundamental as the eggs right should be a given. My partner's asada and eggs wasn't terrible, per say. However, the dish consisted primarily of bell peppers, a blob of melted cheese, and some asada meat-- the kind you get with regular asada tacos. On the other hand, the biscuits that accompanied the dish, were a genuine highlight. We particularly enjoyed the jalapeño and cheese filling, which gave them a nice savory kick. Thankfully, the bakery items and beer showed us where La Cheve really shines. The house lager was crisp, refreshing, and very enjoyable, while the cronut was downright scrumptious. These were the kinds of items that reminded us why we had been so excited to visit in the first place. Ultimately, La Cheve feels like a restaurant with two very different personalities. The bakery side is impressive, while the savory kitchen needs considerably more attention to execution and consistency. If I were judging the bakery alone, I'd happily give it around 4.5 stars The cronut, biscuits, caramel, and house beer all showed plenty of promise. But the brunch dishes need work--particularly when it comes to texture, portioning, cooking temperatures, and consistency. We came in eager to understand what had generated so much enthusiasm for La Cheve. There are certainly some very good things happening here, and thoughtful touches like the umbrellas for guests waiting in line make a difference. But based on our visit, the kitchen still has some significant kinks to work out before the savory menu matches the promise of the bakery.

How the hell did this place get so many good reviews? Went there with my wife and son...got fish tacos. Maybe it was a bad day or something? The fish seemed like it was frozen from Costco...fried...so nasty. I had to force myself to eat it only because I was starving. Wife did not eat it. Son was not interested.
