Inside, cheerful decor and relaxing music gives a tranquil feel. Al is a sweet woman with a mission to give you a serene morning or afternoon while also helping the neurodivergent. They serve a selection of coffees, teas, smoothies, and sodas with an impressive variety of flavor enhancers to customize your drinks. While none of these are the best you'll find in Old Ellicott, all of them are great on their own merrit, making this spot ideal for groups with different tastes. The food menu is limited to a handful of items. Croffles (that's crosant waffles) topped with chicken or shrimp salad, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and pancakes make up the menu. The chicken salad is well seasoned and generously portioned. The breakfast sandwich is coated in maple syrup, making it a sticky sweet mess that's enjoyable once you get over the sticky bits. The breakfast sandwich is served with a side of Caribbean style potatoes, which were the best things I ate. As added bonuses, kids under 10 eat for free and charging stations are placed throughout the cafe. My two nitpicks are the smell and the menu design. There is a small cleaner smell. While I appreciate how spotless the cafe is, the smell is distracting. Changing the brand of cleaner or adding an air freshener would do wonders. The menu incorporates AI in the art and layout, giving it an uncanny appearance. Worse yet, the menu images don't accurately showcase the food. The chicken salad was much larger than the menu picture and came with a strawberry salad. The breakfast sandwich picture looks egg heavy, but the real one was mostly bacon. And it didn't even mention the Carribean potatoes, the highlight of their menu. If possible the owner should hire an artist to update the menu. From good food and drinks, to wonderful service, to a heartwarming mission, Al's Love Cafe is a great spot to relax with your coffee and tea.
