We like the bread here, when it's fresh. The one on the wall is the older one, not bad but sometimes hard. They have a lot of variety which is good. And they have food there too. We recently decided to try the tamales. They looked huge!! Which I figured it would mostly be masa. But figured we would give them a chance...I was right. One had little meat and some fat with lots of sauce. The other had more meat but still didn't compare to all the masa. Flavor is good though but need more meat. My husband previously bought tamales here, I called this morning to ask if they had tamales available a lady answered and said they did and that at 10:45am they would have 3 more pots available, long story short we came in and she said she wouldn't have anything until 1pm. This happened yesterday as well. So then my husband asks her well when we called you said you would have some available and then she tells him well I said there is no more with an attitude. They have really bad customer service so I would rather take my business somewhere else. And just as an fyi don't even buy bread here these lady's don't cover the bread and have the door open all the flies get in and land on top of the bread. This place has definitely changed and for the worst! Don't come here. I definitely do not recommend this place. My family and I are big fans of Mexican bread and the best is Lupe's Panadería is San Bernardino off 5th Street!!!! Their bread is not good, overpriced and you're better off going to Cardenas or Stater Brothers for a decent conchita. read more

on 12/26/2015 @ about 7:15 I stopped at this place to pick up some tamales I ordered a dozen pork. My grandson and I each tried to eat one ... but they just did not taste good... not that they tasted bad... just not good... and put the rest in the fridge while we went on with what we had to do .. within a couple hours my stomach started to feel nauseous .. and in the early even my intestines joined in the party ... I spent most of the night in the bathroom .. I took the rest bad the next morning about the same time and explained to the ladies how they did not taste good and made me ill .. after sticking their fingers in them and sniffing them... they ladies told me they smelled fine.. I explained obviously they are not, since I became ill and had not eaten anything else in over 18 hours prior... and why in the world would I buy a dozen to just eat two??? which she then proceeded to tell me that "people try to return stuff all the time for strange reasons" .... Wait... people try to return stuff all the time????? As all this was going on, one of the men (about 50) who worked there was cleaning a prep counter watching the conversation... he then sat the dirty rag on the table and walked to the front and without washing his hands, organizing a pan of the pastries... Obviously these people do not understand about cross contaminating ... which is probably what made me ill... it is a very common serious problem... If you have old people, children or sick ... please be weary ... Food poisoning can be deadly. Of course I didnt get my money back... but lesson learned ... read more

I came here for some tamales. I read the reviews and thought I'd give it a try. They have a limited selection. Pork, chicken and cheese. No beef or sweet ones. I chose the pork ones. They were big with a good amount of pork in them. But they had a bit to much masa I thought. Almost a half inch of it. read more

Unfortunately, this had been one of my favorite places to go for tamales and Mexican bread. I ordered bread for a church function and prepaid it ordered a day before and sadly they failed to make my order. I went in at the hour that I had designated for pick up in the evening and the woman at the counter was scrambling around and said she had not been there the day before so she didn't know anything. She then went to the ovens where my order hung like a flag which mind you had my order date pick up time on it. Then stated I could sit and wait for them to try to make my 4 dozens of conchas. Which at this point would be to long to wait before the event started. I love supporting small businesses but unfortunately will not use them again as it left me scrambling to figure out what to take to the function. Hot fresh tasty Pan Dulce! This place is roomy with a good variety of sweet Mexican bread. I've been here at different times of the day,usually during the week and they are always pulling something straight out of the oven and onto the racks. The kitchen area is completely open which gives me confidence in their cleanliness. I wish the parking situation was better. The neighborhood is rough and I agree that the tamales need more filling and less masa but, this is a bakery and a darn good one! (Oh and the champurado is good too) Try the little muffin cakes with fruit filling they're exceptionally good and so are the conchas! Told this place WAS good before, but the husband passed away and the previous owners are gone! With that being said the pan dulce (sweet bread) is fresh and tasty! I went on a quest for tamales. I was told SOLD out of chicken and pork but the cheese jalapeño was all they had? I bought four and one happened to be pork. The pork was tasty but very little pork? The cheese was the same very little cheese and all masa! It tasted kind of stale, too much masa! They were very small for $1.50 ea and got the conch shell sweetbread was really good! Amazing bread and service is great. Fresh tamales, menudo, cakes, etc. I always go here in the morning everyday especially on sunday for that's when they serve menudo. May I say that the service is so good that it makes you feel important specifically a lady that goes by the name Lourdes I'm not sure though how other employees treat you all I know is that this lady is great and i will always give her a tip for what she does. read more
