Cream horns, conchas, cream danish, and a few more

La Luna bakery has so many good breads. They always taste great, but as in my previous review. The older lady and all of her staff have the shittiest attitudes ever! You walk in with no hello, hi, or thanks for coming, just nasty glares and ugly faces! They all look and act like they hate their jobs. I would come here more often if they actually made us feel welcomed, but unfortunately they don't!

First things first, reviews stating the truth about the lady whose always at the counter - the older one with lighter hair color, not the dark hair younger lady is a rude b%^#. She never smiles, looks like she hates being there & if she's the actual owner like one reviewer stated, it's really sad. I personally hate going here, but my husband loves it. The bread was decent, but I think Josie's was way better & even though their customer service was dry, they weren't as rude as this chick at this bakery. He says the tamales are really good, we'll see. And ya the areas a heavily trafficked dump. This bakery tho is popular with the locals. The bread honestly is not that bad, just prefer to be treated like a valued customer and not F#% you, give me your money.

The pan is good but the tamales are really dry the pork tamales had decent flavor and the cheese tamales had no flavor at all. The masa could use some seasoning and they are much smaller than the ones I normally order from Lupe's bakery. The employees were friendly.

    Pan Dulce

This is the best place to buy fresh pan dulce!! I've been coming here since I was a teenager and the owners are always welcoming and fun to talk too. I love their tamales too the jalapeño and cheese are my favorite! And the menudo is soooo delicious but you can't beat the pan dulce!!

    Rosca

DISSAPOINTED! I went in to buy bread and saw the Rosca out in there treys. I asked for one but I guess you had to pre ordered. So I did waited 3 hours for this! I was craving one so I order it but the ones they had out were really Nice thick. Who will like to take this to their guest. ??

Wanted to give this place a try.. Unfortunately my entire family including myself didn't enjoy the sweet potato pie which is what this bakery is known for. Not sure what it is, maybe it has too many spices in it? It was a little too sweet and a bit too dense. Crust was perfect, flaky and buttery. We also grabbed the Sweet Potato Cheesecake. That was devoured. Not too dense and creamy. Sweet potato was swirled into the cheesecake which helped it from being too tangy. Underneath the crust had a layer of granulated sugar mixed in with some crumbly crust. That part was a bit sweet but I just scooped it away and it was fine.

I decided to take my chances and called them on the night of the 23rd, and to my surprise, they were open late (until 10pm), and I was able to place an order over the phone for one dozen tamales. Fast forward to the next day when I arrived to pick up my order. The bakery smelled delicious. Ambiance is very casual and very much a hole in the wall type of bakery. I saw they had a few pan dulce selections, but it seemed like everyone there was mainly there for the tamales, like me. The line was long, and it only got busier after I left. I picked up my tamales and immediately tried one when I got home, and OMG, WAS I SURPRISED! The tamales came individually wrapped and were SO moist, generously filled with meat, and the flavor was on point!! I got a dozen (half pork and half chicken), which turned out to be $30. I 1000% will be back for their tamales and might try their pan dulce next time.

The day we went (Friday), they also had clam chowder, so we had to get a cup of that, and it comes with a sourdough roll (which was really nicely flavored, and had a nice dense texture). We ended up getting a turkey sandwich, as well as a blueberry scone and a peanut butter cookie (I mean, we had to wait for the sandwich, and the display cases were dangerous). They were very generous with the sandwich filling, the scone was also delicious, as was the soup. The one flop here was the peanut butter cookie. Could have been moister and chewier, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. You order your sandwiches by filling out a simple order form at the back counter. Bathrooms have a code and were clean.
