Full disclosure: I would not describe myself as a fan of Mexican food. I like it when I'm having it, but I never go out of my way to get it. Thank goodness my friend took me here, because I wouldn't have discovered La Fachada otherwise. Their food is elite, their service is elite, honestly even the location is a vibe and I would come back 10/10. It's nice La Fachada has its own parking lot as I didn't see much street parking due to the trolley and red zones. I ordered 3 tacos which made for a big lunch. I liked the soft and mild flavored corn tortillas. Carnitas taco had carnitas which had a texture like it was fried. A little dry and seasoned very lightly. Carne asada taco had tender and moist carne asada. Nicely seasoned to give a hint of sweetness to the delicious beef. Al pastor taco had lots of seasoning for the tender pork. Enough seasoning so you know it's al pastor but not enough that you get that bitter burn your mouth effect. Tacos were under $4 and service was speedy and friendly. read more

La Fachada is one of those hole in the wall spots where the food is the star of the show. I like how it's tucked away from busy restaurant areas, and my favorite feature of theirs is that it closes late at night! which is rare for San Diego restaurant hours. Do not expect some fancy, watered down mexican food. This place is legit. So you won't find no sour cream, yellow cheese, fries in burritos, etc. I specifically go to La Fachada for tacos de tripitas and cabeza. Which are rare to find in taco shops and other big restaurant chains. They have the best agua frescas in the area, and I love having the option of getting radishes, cucumbers and pickled veggies, the way every taco spot in Mexico does. Love it here! read more

Some of the best tacos I've ever had in my life. La Fachada is a personal favorite of mine because their carnitas is so flavorful and has a great texture -- all of that goodness placed on a handmade to order tortilla. It's absolute heaven. The first time I came I tried a variety of meats. The carne asada, cabeza, and lengua. They were all delicious but the star of the plate was the carnitas. Ever since then that's the only thing I order here. The burritos are huge!! And packed with rice and meat definitely a good value entree. Parking can be difficult inside the lot during busy times since they have a limited number of spaces but there is some street parking nearby. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and all the times I've went I haven't had trouble finding a table. Overall if you want a hidden gem that isn't the typical famous tacos in San Diego, come here. It might just change your life because this place definitely changed mine. read more

The food is great. We had 2 tortas: beef and chorizo, both were inhaled within minutes, I guess that means my friends liked them. I had the carne asada burrito, love it. Meat was flavorful with crispy-like edges, guacamole and pico, no beans or rice, just the way I like my burritos. another friend had rolled tacos and she loved them also. We were all looking at other people's lunches planning on what we will get the next time we come to La Fachada because there will be a next time. Great find. The tacos are amazing, specifically the carnitas tacos. The tortilla is soft and steamy and tastes so homemade. The carnitas are crunchy on the outside and soft and melty on the inside - absolutely brilliant and the choice meat here is the carnitas. The condiments take it over the top. The service and ambiance is home style. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The parking lot has limited parking spaces but turnover is pretty fast. I came in after recycling at Time Recycling Center. I've eaten at this taco shop before, but I haven't written a review until now, so I'm doing it justice today. It stays open late and is conveniently located on Cesar Chavez Parkway. I highly recommend it. The food is great, and the owners are always there working. They are very nice people. This is an updated review for this taco shop. Picture this New Year's Day, my cousin and I on the search for the morning after tacos. I used to love this place when I lived in downtown. Many times we would pull up and they had a grill out front with hot fresh meat, grilled onions and frijoles de oyo. It was very disappointing to see that the grill was shut down related to health department issues. Since my last review, it appears that the prices had gone up. There's a lot of rebirth and gentrification going on in these areas - which I suppose would is the shift of clientele. It still feels like a family Mexican restaurant though. read more

La Fachada is an unassuming hole-in-the-wall spot in Barrio Logan serving up a large selection of Mexican food. They have plenty of different meat options to choose from for many of their items. The tacos are simple and classic served on corn tortillas with onions and cilantro. They have both red and green salsas on the side as well. They also give complimentary cooked onions and peppers which I loved. Service was friendly and you can either eat outside or inside. Definitely get a gordita and a mulita! The gordita has like a fried empanada-esque shell where you cut through it and it's filled with meat. Topped with lettuce and cotija cheese this was sooo good. We got it with birria inside and I recommend getting a shredded type of meat since it paired really well together. The Mulita was also amazing! It's basically a 2 taco shells with meat inside and held together by melted cheese. Like a taco sandwich yummmm. We tried different meats for the tacos and all of them were great. Not necessarily the best tacos, but for the price and taste, they are definitely worth it. I would definitely come back if I'm looking for the no frills type of food La Fachada offers. read more

Friendly service, great prices and amazing food! You can't ask for anything more. Things that I ate from our spread: Birria taco: so tender and juicy. Corn tortilla was perfect. Birria Gordita: my first time having a Gordita and I think it could be my favorite of the bunch. There was no extra room, it was packed with meat. Al pastor taco: I do love Al pastor, but I think it was overshadowed by some other things we had. The chips and salsa while you wait are everything you'd want and more. Downhill alert! La Fachada is now like any good Mex place in Barrio Logan. No more grill with roasting onions and peppers. No more pato in the menudo. In fact, I don't think there is an abuela cooking the menudo. It was good but not great. The cabeza tasted like the lengua which tasted like carne asada. A humble taco stand that brings me back to the west side of San Antonio - the city where I grew up! I ordered a variety of tacos: Carne Asada: really good. You could taste the char from a great sear on the meat. Al Pastor: tasty, but not quite the flavor profile I'm accustomed to in an al pastor. Wish there was some pineapple. Cabeza: possibly one of the best I've had! So tender and packed with flavor Tripas: strong intestine flavor - which is what I like! But if that's not your thing, be wary. I do wish it was crispier though as the tripas were quite soft Pollo Asado: decent chicken taco but really paled in comparison to the other choices. It should be noted that their tortillas were excellent! They are corn but are thicker and dont crumble like other corn tortillas. The portions are also very generous as these tacos were stuffed. We had high hopes and were severely disappointed. I ordered an horchata and all the aguas were in a fridge uncovered which is so unsanitary (the water was really nasty btw and had stuff in it).The price is really expensive and not worth it all. The food was not edible and sadly a waste of money. The meat was nasty, cheap and had weird flavor to it. Time for an update! Rereading my old review reminds me that it's not quite the same that it once was, but that's Covid for you. I've still never eaten inside since I love the "taco truck" experience out front too much. If you also remember the pot o' free beans bubbling away- those days are gone. They live on in our memories and I'll carry a love for them for the rest of my days. While the beans may be gone, completely scrubbed from the menu too, I still come here for tacos. Are these muy barata tacos? No. La Fachada has a building rent and a sizeable staff's wages to pay. Even after all these years La Fachada is still affordable and still delicious so I'm happy to pay their prices. My picks- The carnitas are deliciously porky, crispy bits and softer pieces all mixing together in the tortilla. Served naked it only needs a little lime juice to be my perfect carnitas taco. The lengua is tender and delicious. I'm sad not everyone jumps to try lengua but they're the ones missing out. If you've never had it- this is a great intro to lengua. Cilantro and onions and a little lime juice? So beefy. It's basically softer carne asada. The fried fish taco is a solid choice, though not my absolute favorite in town. The fish is still moist, the coating is crispy, and they dress them generously. Don't expect anything fancy like mango salsa, but if you want shredduce, pico, and fried fish this is that classic taco. I also order a gordita, carne asada usually, from time to time. Also a delicious choice in general if you're oddly not feeling tacos. The lettuce on top is crisp and makes me feel like I'm eating a healthier salad yet taco-adjacent option. The birria, cabeza, pollo asado, and al pastor tacos are ones I've tried and liked, but I don't crave them. It's hard to compete with carnitas and lengua! But order whatever tacos and aqua fresca you like, have a seat, and enjoy the no-frills vibe of this neighborhood classic. read more

Came here for a quick taco run since I got into San Diego later than expected and I wanted to scratch that taco itch. Since it was late, I didn't want to order too much. Ended up trying a carne asada and carnitas taco. These tacos are FIRE! The meat for both was fantastic and was quite plentiful. But what I really loved about these tacos is how minimal the grease level was. I'm not sure anyone can actually call tacos healthy, but these were about as simple as it gets. Meat, cilantro and onion, and tortilla. Definitely did not feel guilty eating these. Staff is friendly, although I am thankful my friend was there to speak Spanish on my behalf because I did a very poor job of doing so. Really enjoyed this quick taco run here.
