WOW! So sad how some people reviewed La Famiglia in Plainview! We have been there a dozen times and NEVER had a problem. Whoever thinks Sal is not "mangement material" is crazy! We have been there with friends, family, get togethers, and parties. Never once did we have a problem. Some people said food was bland, baloney..... food was and is great! And Sal always aims to please. His staff is wonderful and polite. I can atomatically name one, Marco. A wonderful waiter, young man and so friendly and polite. Will go over and under for you to be happy. Is it loud in there? YES! People go there to have a good time and talk and laugh. That's a good thing! Not a bad thing. If you want quietness then go elsewhere where there are all old farty people. I LOVE to go there, is it expensive, yes it can be.... BUT you get what you pay for. Out of all Italian restaurants I have been to, this is the best one. And being an Italian myself, I would know my food. Drinks might be a little pricey, but that is everywhere. You don't want to drink? drink at home and not there, what can i tell you? These poor ratings and comments that some of you gave, were terrible and you have it all wrong..... Sal is a wonderful owner and manager, if you have any problems you can always talk to him and he will help you the best he can. So, in the end, I have been going there for 2 years and go there as often as I can, and as always i am always happy and satisfied. Portions of food are LARGE. I recently had my daughters bridal shower here and they ruined it!!! They gave us the middle room because the end room was too small to accomidate us. What they failed to mention was that their wait staff and other guest dining at the restaurant would be passing through all day long as my daughters shower was going on! So as she was opening her gifts there were people passing infront of her every couple of minutes. There were families with kids strollers, grandparents with walkers and not to mention the wait staff carrying food constantly back and forth. Well because it was such a circus my guest lost interest because they could not see anything that was going on and started to talk amongst themselves!!! The veal dish was terrible, it was so chewy and some of the chicken dishes came out raw. So needless to say all the preparation and time and money that I put into trying to give my daughter a beautiful bridal shower was ruined in the blink of an eye and they couldn't care less! Went there for a friend's wedding rehearsal dinner. We arrived a little early and stayed up front at the bar while they were setting up the room. My friend and I ordered two Grey Goose Cosmo's. Guess what they charged us? $51.00 for two drinks!!!!! I couldn't believe the bar bill. Of course, we only had one, but that's the cost of a dinner entree!!!!! Great service but overpriced for what you get. The chicken cutlets in the chicken Parmesan was tough. For an expensive place you should get refills on bread and soda. The tartufo for dessert was okay. I would not recommend it from our experience. read more

Had my daughter-in-laws baby shower here. they could not have been nicer. The food was wonderful and the portions were large. I certainly would recommend this place to everyone. We were supposed to be in the main area but at the last minute they switched us to the private room. I was so happy because this was really what I wanted. Fabulous food, incredible service & beautiful dining room! We recently had a baby shower party at the restaurant and it was awesome because of the outstanding service and food! Love their signature dish and the champagne punch was outstanding! Ion was incredible and really made the party a success! This has to be one of the worst "Italian" restaurants I have ever been in. Was there yesterday for my brothers girlfriends baby shower and the food was probably the worst I ever had. Growing up in the Bronx you tend to know what good Italian food is and what they presented was absolute garbage. The house and caesar salad were salty and a joke. My mother had what they consider "broccoli rabe" and what she got was rigatoni and broccoli on a plate. I had some sort of chicken with eggplant on top and it looked like a layer of skin when i tired to find the chicken under that mess. The fish someone ordered was overcooked. The bruschetta was warm in one bite but then cold the next. It was just awful. read more

Just was part of large family dinner with about 40 people here in the back room. Food was plentiful and excellent. Nothing was overly salted or too spicey and I watch out closely for both. Waiters were attentive and pleasant. Eggplant Parmigiana was best I ever tasted. The rest of the restaurant was full of diners late into evening so this is a popular restaurant. I am 71,come from a really big family (with roots from Naples on both sides),grew up in Manhatten and live now in in Pt.Wash. I am widowed and lost a son so it is really important for me to have a great day out with what God has blessed me with when I can, together at dinner. We were 15 adults,6 grandkids (6 to 11) and a 2 yr.old granddaughter.(got two more that were missed) From the gentleman valeting to the same young man returning my car there wasn't one minute that wasn't part of a priceless day. The staff was very patient and helpful and great with everyone's needs. We had quite a selection;not one complaint (even heard my fussy grandson tried something and liked it and I had no trouble getting takers for the left overs either. Me and my family went here for dinner a few nights ago and it was 12 people in my party. The food was absolutely exquisite. Sean was our waiter and made our night at La Famiglia wonderful. Sean guided us in the right direction for what plates to order and how much to order, what he recommended worked out perfectly. From drinks, appetizers to the main courses, everything was perfect. He recommended the asparagus rollatini for appetizer, and he recommended the pork chops which were out of this world, he also recommended the Bronzino which was mouth-watering an filet'd for us at perfection. I have no idea what this jerk Matt B. is talking about. My experience was phenomenal because of our waiter Sean. If your looking for fine Italian cuisine this is the place to go and make sure you ask for Sean for phenomenal service and a great experience. read more

Excellent place for a private party. My future daughter-in-law's bridal shower was held in the private room there. Ian was incredible ensuring everything flowed smoothly, including the games, food, opening of gifts, cake cutting, and pictures. I booked my sisters Bridal Shower here-the place is nice,while there is a smaller party room in the back, we were given the large dining room, it was buffet style, which was a nice option because people were able to serve themselves as much as they liked. People raved about the fish(tilapia) and pasta, and nice salad. However, when we originally met with the manager, we were told the separate party room would be closed..no interruptions...its all separate, they have their own restroom. GREAT! I thought! Come the day of the party everyone was walking through...apparently there is NO baby changing station, so ALL mommys and babys for the baptism or whatever party next door were walking through our party. Then we had all the waiters and i guess "maitre d'" for the next door party were walking through too. That maitre d' guy was really RUDE and Confrontational. What a spectacle for all to see... Meanwhile the only shining hope in the place was my Maitre d'- Ian...Ian was amazing!! From the moment I got there he was great. .. oh another thing we didnt realize till the end all my sisters bridal shower gifts were placed in the restaurant lobby. So when the next party came in, they were all hanging out with our boxes at the entrance..how Nice! .. Oh WELL!! at least the food was good and Ian was nice. read more

The food here is excellent but the restaurant itself is horrible. They squeeze you in so tight the waiters can't even walk through the tables. And it is SO loud you cannot talk to the person next to you. They also added a linguini dish on our bill we didn't even order. Check you bills and don't go on the weekend. I recently had my daughters Bridal Shower at this restaurant and all I can say is RUDE, MEDIOCRE FOOD AT BEST, AND NOT EVEN A THANK YOU after I paid a $2,800.00 food bill, by the way SAL charged me for 2 children under 5 that barely ate, my bar bill was also $250.00 and he never ever asked me how anything was with the party, but a friend that was there was given FREE WINE because he knew them, and asked them how everything was, like they were paying. There was also another party going on in the back room and I had strangers walking thru my party, we were told that we had to stay out of the path of the other party, If I had known there was going to be people walking in and out of my room I would have never booked there. And the staff, aside from my waiter JOHN, was the rudest bunch of men I have ever encountered at any party, ever!!! We were rushed to eat, open the gifts and cut the cake...very unprofessional! I also recommended this restaurant to an acquaintance and she used my name when booking and also never any acknowledgement from Sal. I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER STEP FOOT IN YOUR RESTAURANT AGAIN. We went to dinner on Sunday night and I was extremely disappointed with the service. First when we got there we were waiting for someone to seat us. Finally someone came to the hostess stand and didn't acknowledge us, but he did spray himself with cologne and walked away. We were finally seated. The waiter took our order. The calamari came out and was extremely rubbery. It came with a spicy sauce and I wanted to try and get a regular sauce but the waiter never came back to see how we were doing. Then our food came out. We ordered chicken parm and shrimp parm came out instead. We had to send it back and get the correct dish. Throughout dinner not once did the waiter come back and ask if we needed anything. He walked by our table to check on other tables but never stopped at ours. I had an empty beer for almost 10 minutes before someone came to see if we needed another drink. After dinner we just wanted to leave so we asked for the check. He brought the check and we payed and were about to leave when he came over an apologized and then offered us a complimentary after dinner drink. Honestly that was a little too late to fix the problems. Overall I would never return to this restaurant. We payed a lot of money for terrible service. read more

Don't eat here if you have celiac disease! I recently attended a retirement party (6/23/15) at this restaurant and called ahead to inquire if my gluten free diet can be accommodated. I was assured that I can be given a gluten free meal. As soon as I arrived, i spoke with two different waiters who assured me that my request for a gluten free meal will be taken care of. I ordered grilled chicken and gluten free pasta. When my meal arrived, I was told that the meal was gluten free. Ten minutes later and after I ate 1/2 of the pasta on my plate, one of the waiters approached me with a plate of grilled chicken and gluten free pasta (corn, a yellowish color) and asked why I was eating WHEAT pasta. I approached the waiter who served me the WHEAT pasta and he told me that he did not know what I was talking about. I left the restaurant immediately because I knew that i would be sick. I was up all night with stomach pain. I called the manager the next day (Wednesday) and he advised me that he would review the video tapes (why would I lie about this?) and call me back. He never did. I called back on Friday (6/26/15) and left a message why I was calling. I was told that the manager would call me back. He never did! read more
