This place is best for the older Italian crowd who loves live music. We ended up going to Vespa (more modern & chic) . I can't say too much about the food bc I didn't get to try it but based on everyone's plate, it wasn't giving. My MIL, my niece, & sis in law was like yeah no Not going to lie the lady & guy dining were great energy but it was covers and they were in the floor vs on a stage out of the crowds walkway. The speakers were right next to tables so it was quite loud when she tried to hit a note. I will say everyone enjoyed it and I was enjoying the music but the ambiance was best for older birthdays which a few we're celebrating. I think it's a great local Italian family business & maybe if it wasn't so loud that evening we would've tried it out. The only hang up is that there wasn't too much variety on the menu but you can tell it was authentic many dishes had peas in them lol. I'm not a pea person and I didn't want to ask them not to do it. A family owned restaurant served with nothing but love!!!. This place was awesome, from the owner to the food. The hospitality is unmatched!!. We were helping a beautiful family celebrate 40 years of love, and it was the best. The food kept coming, and it was plentiful, to say the least. I had some fried calamari, some chicken parm some penne vodka pasta some salad some wine. I also had the famous Momawanna ( I hope i spelled it right). It's safe to say I had some things, lol. Please, if you want good food served with love and family, please stop by. You will be satisfied and full. Side note, I was told that one of the gentlemen was the owner, but it was hard to tell because he was out on the floor tending to the guests as well. I visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday May 6, 2023. We made reservations for 4 people the day prior for 7pm. Recommend making reservations. Service was very good. They were attentive to our needs. We ordered two salads and each salad was enough for two people to share. I chose the eggplant over pasta for my dinner and it was delicious! I loved the pasta sauce! My family and I visited this restaurant as a group of 25 following a funeral service. The restaurant was accommodating to our large reservation, and service was quick and friendly. They have a large dining room with plenty of seating, but parking was a little complicated for those of us not from Farmingdale. Before the meal we were served bread and butter which was nice, though oil and spices would have been a nice touch for an Italian restaurant. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal - I personally had the Farfalle Al Pesto which was amazing! We will definitely be back the next time we're in town. read more

We were in the middle of a family wake and we had a lot of people that wanted to come to both the afternoon session and the evening session. At 3:30 I called Tre Scalini and ask them if they could accommodate a party of approximately 10 people in 45 minutes. They said they could and they did. The service was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious and everything was handled so professionally. I'm not sure of our waiter name, but he was just fantastic. We had two large salads for the table with mescaline greens walnuts, & goat cheese in a raspberry dressing that was outstanding. Everyone at the table loved it. There wasn't a drop left of the salad. A couple of our guests had the fish special which was delicious. Some had the ravioli, which they also loved, and I had the osso bucco, which was out of this world. The meat just fell off the bone and the gravy with such a nice flavor. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. We took a chance and I'm so glad we did. read more

Because of the present conditions with the pandemic, my wife and I, were undecided about going out to dinner for our 52nd wedding anniversary and stumbled into this restaurant by chance. We were in the neighborhood and had sat down at another place, but got up as we did not like their menu, and started walking alongside Main St., in Farmingdale and just happened to walk by Tre Scalini. I asked my wife, do you want to try this place? She said sure. Mind you, we had no reservations and just walked in. Well, it was our wedding anniversary (we are not spring chickens!!) and decided to celebrate it at this place. We were pleasantly greeted by Angelo, the owner, and sat down for dinner. After a little casual chit-chat with Angelo, we ordered drinks, appetizers, and the main entree. Everything was delicious. I had Mussels and my wife had the clams, excellent. For the entree, I had the chicken Sorrentino with a side of spaghetti, and my wife had the Shrimp Francese with linguini in a wine sauce. Of course, this dinner had to be accompanied by a nice glass of cabernet (actually, we both had two). Truthfully, we both couldn't finish our dishes because the portions were pretty generous, and had to doggie-bag it. We skipped the desserts as we were having dessert at our daughter's with her and her kids. The place was not overly crowded and the occupied tables maintained the social distancing protocol. We thanked the waiter and also Angelo, promising them that we would come back. I highly recommend Tre Scalini, based on service, quality of food, and ambiance. We were meeting friends 1/2 way and decided on the Farmingdale area. Having no idea where to go, searching the web we made a reservation at a restaurant down the block from Tre Scalini. When the four of us walked in, the music was (boom boom boom)so loud we all knew we couldn't stay and and we left immediately. We walked down the block and saw this beautiful Italian restaurant. It looked very high end from peaking in the windows but after looking at their outside menu we thought their prices were very reasonable and decided to try it. We walked in with no reservation. We were greeted with a big welcome and smile and escorted to a perfect table for 4. Coming from Northport we have many fine Italian restaurants. Tre Scalini surpasses many of them. For starters, you get a FULL glass of wine, appetizers: coconut shrimp, calamari..delicious Entrees are very generous, food is delicious..not salty at all..cooked to perfection, dessert delicious. All four of us absolutely loved our food! Being Italian and love to cook, I'm also extremely fussy..lol The service was excellent. Our waiter was on top of everything, a true gentleman. Where can I begin with this place? Every experience I've had here has been wonderful! I absolutely love Tre Scalini!!! My family has held two graduation parties here and I have been here for dinner many times. The owner, Angelo has been so kind to us. Angelo works hard and always makes sure our parties run smoothly. He listens and lets you have your party how you want. His son is also a waiter and bartender, always attentive and sweet. I really do not have anything bad to say about the staff at Tre Scalini from the owner, to bartenders, waiter/waitresses, and busboys they all wait on you with a smile and provide diligent service. To go on, the food is incredible. One of my favorite dishes here is their gnocchi alla vodka sauce. I love gnocchi but not every restaurant prepares it properly. Tre Scalini makes their gnocchi perfectly, it is a pillow of potato heaven in my mouth. Their calamari is always tasteful and the sauce along with it is addictive! When having our party Angelo was kind enough to work with us on the menu so we could have all of the dish options we wanted. Appetizers included calamari, mozzarella caprese, and baked clams, then a house salad, penne alla vodka and for an entree choice between chicken parmigiana, veal Marsala, or a fish dish. Everything was divine!!! Our guests raved about the food. We enjoyed the party so much that the following year I had my graduation party here as well. I suggest trying their pasta dishes, there are so many options, I loved their bolognese and the veal Marsala was delicious. The bolognese is creamy and so flavorful, and of course filling! Their food will leave you in a coma and craving your next visit. Over all, Angelo goes above and beyond for his customers. If you are thinking about having a party here do it! We had the dining room to ourselves and the bar was maybe 10 feet away so you can walk over to get drinks. They brought drinks to you which was great but you also had the option to walk up to the bar and get it yourself as well. I love moscato and ordered one after another. Eventually they gave me the bottle to bring to my table which was nice of them! :) At Tre Scalini you certainly get your money's worth. I recommend Tre Scalini for a date night, family gathering, dinner party, business meeting, girls night out... they are perfect for every event. I dined at Tre Scalini with a private party. The staff seemed to be understaffed for our group. Our group met at the restaurant at 6:45 PM and we were not served our dinner entrees until 9:00 PM. The staff was polite and apologetic when they were around, but they needed some help. The food was good. I ordered veal marsala. It was on par with most Italian restaurants on Long Island. My favorite course throughout the night was the penne alla vodka which was creamy and flavorful. I appreciated that they did not have an issue with us bringing our own wine. read more

This was a very disappointing night. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees at the bar. Our cocktails were good and the appetizers (clams oreganata and stuffed mushrooms) were also good. I decided to not fill up on my app as I was looking forward to my dinner. This is when it went south. The bartender asked if we wanted bread, we said yes, but it never came....and the bartender disappeared...for 45 minutes. We had to ask random staff for water....finally we decided to take our food to go, after feeling abandoned. So, I got home, opened my Rigatoni Matraciana and discovered pool of oil. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious!! Everyone raved about each course and the staff was super attentive! It included one pasta dish (we ordered Rigatoni Bolognese), salad, cheese cake, and one coffee. We also ordered baked clams. The food was great! This is by far the worst restaurant experience I think I've ever had. Service was subpar, we were not told the specials, never checked on when our food came, & had to ask for the one water refill we received for the entire meal. Our antipasto appetizer consisted of half a plate of moldy cheese. We were comped for this since we were unable to eat. We were told their refrigerators were having issues which was the reason for the moldy cheese as they apologized. This information was unsettling to say the least as we were awaiting our entrees. We struggled to eat our entrees once they arrived wondering if they were in the same poorly working refrigerator. They did offer free dessert but we declined as we just wanted to leave with hopes we didn't end up with food poisoning. read more

Beware of booking this restaurant for a private party. I had my sons wedding rehearsal dinner here in April. We chose this restaurant because we were looking for private room. This restaurant has two separate rooms. We were told while booking the party four months ago that there was a party of 60 people booked for this same night, but they would be in the larger room. I was concerned that it might be noisy, but he assured me it would be fine because we would be in separate rooms. He booked us for the smaller room with the bar. To my horror, on the night of our party, when I arrived, my guests were seated in the room with the large party, with just a small partition. They sat customers of the restaurant in the room that was reserved for us, and the explanation given to me was "he forgot ". We were we now sharing the room with the party of 60 people. We were a group of 25. I felt so deceived and was so upset that I could not enjoy our party. When I gave a speech, we had to ask some people from the other party to be quiet, and we did the same for the host of their party. They could not have been happy sharing the room with us either. Sadly, this total disregard of our booking arrangement, and the stress I had from having my party ruined, overshadowed everything else. I would NOT recommend hosting a party here. read more
