Food was served hot and--when the veal chop seemed to need a little more time, they happily obliged. Seating was a little hard on me because wood chairs sans cushions. The calamari was cosmopolitan but was tasty just the same--crispy without sag or sog. The marinara was seasoned and a tad sweet but not unpleasantly so. The salad I ordered was delicious--I got mine as main course and it was rhe house salad that I had them chop up with grilled chicken and a holt cow was it good! The salad chop was fine and the chicken was moist--it was a win! I got mine with dressing on the side and Caesar dressing was velvety creamy. Yum. I tried the veal chop--just a bite-- and it was stupendous. Flavorful to the nines, with onion and mushrooms notes...plus was very tender. Next time, if I gave my diet a hiatus, I'd order it. Came here on a weeknight for dinner with a friend. We ordered pastas. The area was quite empty so service was rather quick. They were generous with the house bread with oil, cheese, and butter as dip/spread options. I tried the clam linguini in a white wine sauce. Portion was quite generous and had plenty of clam meat. Been coming here for years because we meet half way with another couple that lives out east. We always sit outside under the huge tent, and always bring our small dog in a stroller. Always enjoy the food. Went there Friday with our usual outside reservation. I went in alone to check in while my wife walked around outside. I was escorted to the tent, where it was obvious they were setting up for a private party and was just left standing. Went back to the host stand and asked if they were coming back for me and was informed there was a private party going on but he would set us up on the porch. Told him we had our dog and he said dogs are not allowed even outside, despite my previous experience. The 4 of us left and will find another place for our future meet ups. read more

It's Mother's Day, it's not packed (now we know why), and we are here with a little baby waiting over 2 hours for a lackluster prefix meal. The owner couldn't care less. We have expressed our disappointment - one would think a round of drinks would be a nice move, since ya know they are charging $14 a glass for Josh wine (a bottle of Josh wine costs $14). This place sucks. Save yourself the hassle and go to La Parma next door. There will be a wait but at least the wait will be worth it. If a restaurant isn't busy on Mother's Day and is taking hours to serve - that's red flag city. Seriously - go next door. Thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine's dinner at this wonderful little gem of a restaurant. Our wait for a table was short, we were seated in the front room where it was private and very comfortable. The tables were decorated beautifully and as a nice addition they used pink napkins... it's a Girl! Wine and water glasses, silverware, bread plates and bottles of wine. Fresh bread and butter. Large plates of Caesar salad were so fresh and the dressing was delicious. Family style platters of fried zucchini and fresh cooked broccoli were perfect. Choices were Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Francaise or Salmon. Perfectly cooked and seasoned food and nice size portions. The dessert was Napoleons that tasted like homemade! Coffee, tea and Expresso. This is an old school, relaxed family style Italian restaurant. Place is full on the weekends for dinner with families getting together. Not exactly a date spot or a place the boys would go grab Italian. My issue with Piccola Bussola Huntington is the food is inconsistent- some nights it's absolutely amazing. Others, the food is noticeably under seasoned. It's as if they have two chefs and one of them has no idea what the food tastes like going out to the dining room. He was a fan of socializing with the other waiters while we sat and watched. I was looking forward to bread and they brought it out with cold butter. I HATEEEE when the butter is practically frozen. Why do they need to do this?! For starters, we ordered the fried calamari and it was the worst calamari I've ever had. Completely tasteless, overcooked and dry. They advertise that the large serves 2-3 people, but we ordered a small and it was enough for my husband and I. Do not order this. I had the penne a la vodka and my husband ordered the tortellini Alfredo. He said his was drenched in butter and you could tell just by looking at it. YUCK! Who wants that much better?! My penne a la vodka was totally Al dente (which I don't like). Another strike. After waiting and waiting, I finally flagged down our waiter for dessert menus since he was once again socializing. Beyond frustrating. We ordered the chocolate gelato and salted caramel gelato. This was the best part of our meal and extremely delicious. Overall, I don't recommend this place. read more

in Huntington on Jericho Turnpike I stopped in to Piccola Bussola. I ordered meals to takeout . The scrimp oreganota with penne had roasted garlic , spinach and oil. There were 6 scrimps but cooked just right and I found the meal quite tasty along with the added 2 small pieces of fresh bread. The second dish ordered of chicken parm doesn't come with any sides as spaghetti or salad. ( see pix) The two orders total more then 50.00. I might try stopping in for dinner one night. read more

The octopus was delicious, perfectly cooked and plentiful for four adults. The eggplant meatballs was outrageous didn't taste like eggplant. Highly recommend. Onto dinner our group ordered the shrimp Tuscano, bronzing dish, scallops and pork chop. Everyone was pleased the food was delicious! We have been coming here for years and service is always top notch. The servers are polite and don't rush service which we appreciate. We can enjoy our cocktails before the appetizers. The price fixe meals are so many to choose from and the portion sizes are amazing. The artichoke is enormous and so flavorful. Disappointed again. We had been here a couple of times years ago and had bad experiences so we didn't come back. Our preferred restaurant didn't have a table so I convinced my husband to give it another try. Overcooked pasta, overcooked spinach, overcooked shrimp. The arugula salad dressing had way too much vinegar. Our considerate waiter offered to make me a new one so I asked for a ceasar instead but It was drenched in dressing. In fact, everything we had was too much: oil, butter, vinegar, cooked too long. I really want to like this place. Somebody, please fix it! read more

Went here during communion weekend awhile back, so it was bad timing on our part. But the service was incredibly slow, like it took almost 3 hours to eat dinner slow, and at one point a child stuck their fingers in the water pitcher, to which no server saw, and it was still used to refill glasses. Luckily we told them but why are you keeping the pitchers out where people can get to them in the first place, especially young children. Pretty sure that's a health code violation or something, lol. Will not be going back, there are plenty of better places to eat Italian food anyway. read more

In the days of Covid, it's hard to figure out what standard to rate restaurants anymore- seems that most people are looking to use the pandemic as a reason to not provide quality service anymore. NOT SO HERE! The service we received on our most recent visit made us feel the way we used to and long to have everywhere. We had to leave another restaurant in the area for lack of service and called to see if there were any seats available. They welcomed us in and our earlier troubles melted away. Service was attentive and friendly- something we all yearn to have these days. Food was excellent as always. We always have enough to take home for tomorrow. And this trip was no exception. They understand the need to take care of toddlers first to ensure a quiet meal for the rest of the party- very thankful for that. In this day and age where many are looking for excuses to provide mediocre service and sub par food- you can feel confident coming in to enjoy a meal here. Food and service were excellent. Upon entering on a Wednesday night at 5:30 the place was empty. We were waiting for 2 other couples and the staff asked us if we would like to wait at the bar or table. We picked a table, the bar is very small about 6 chairs. The service is genial and efficient. Only one problem was when the busboy picked up our dish without asking if we were done. We still had food on the table but I guess that was it for me. Prices are very reasonable for the quantity of food. They have a Family style or single serving option. The single serving was enough for at least 2 persons. Family style easily feeds 4. We ordered the papperdelle bolognese, chicken saltimbocca, shrimp oreganata, chicken francese and pasta with tomato sauce. Lucky for us Wednesday is buy one get one free drinks. We started with cocktails and later on had wine with our meals. They have a surprisingly small wine list. The best dish was the bolognese, pasta tasted homemade, the saltimbocca was very good but some said Steve's Piccolo in Syosset is better, the chicken francese needed more lemon, shrimp was a bit dry for me. It does get a good crowd after 6pm on a weeknight, mostly groups of 6 or more. One other thing, there were fruit flies buzzing around during dinner, which was annoying and they ran out of biscotti. We finally get called & they sat us near the entrance way to the bathroom & Kitchen with no ventilation or air. We asked them to crank up the a/c but that didn't help. The finally moved us to a better table. The overall food experience was good. The best dish was the veal parmigiana. Drinks took a while to get to the table. Many years ago, we dined here often with friends. What we liked was the family style menu where you all can share appetizers and entrees. The food was usually good, and we usually had a couple of favorites that we would choose. Being it was restaurant week, we decided to partake. Appetizer, we ordered the small fried mozzarella. They are little mozzarella balls, and the small portion was huge! Also very good. We split the family style chicken francese, and got the added pasta. One of the best chicken francese I had! There were 4 chicken cutlets and plenty of pasta.
