Go here. If you want to try a perfectly cooked Florentine steak, pillows of gnocchi perfectly cooked and the best mushroom tagliatelle. Wow, service was quick and fun. The space is crowded, but cute and homey. This is where to eat in Florence. We came here two nights in a row. It's good to know that they take reservations, and I highly recommend them. We had to come right at opening to ensure we got a seat without one.

We decided to get a panino from La Fettunta next door to the famous All'Antico Vinaio. Got antivegano (porchetta, scamorza cheese, mushroom sauce, grilled veggies) with salsa picante. My boyfriend said that it was the best food he had on the trip, and he doesn't even like bread! The inside was not pretty but it was very flavorful. Do yourself a favor, ignore the hype of All'Antico Vinaio and try this.

This restaurant is next to the most popular and busiest sandwich shop in Florence. Although the group wasn't too hungry, I fell in love with Florentine steak and I saw it on the menu so I had to give it a try. The steak we ordered was about 1.5 kg and I ate all almost all of it myself because everyone else was so full. The steak was very rare but very good Florentine steak is known to be rare so be prepared if that's what you like. Our server was very attentive and got us everything that we needed quickly. The location is very central to many things in Florence and we were Tucktaway in the corner and able to enjoy each other's company. It's a very unique restaurant, and definitely very Italian. We really enjoyed our time here.

Hands down, this was one of our best meals in Florence! We came by La Fettunta by way of a recommendation from our driver. We were a traveling group of 9, so getting seats was never easy. This place accommodated us and helped us order everything. We ordered a variety of dishes to pass around the table and everything was delicious. Our waiter was truly awesome, and constantly checked in. The place was PACKED. The atmosphere was noisy with lots of laughter. I absolutely recommend this place. It's one our whole group remembers fondly.

While walking around trying to find the best paninis, we stumbled upon this place, and of course it is right next to the legendary/famous All Antico. This line is much shorter, although not THAT much shorter. The wait was a good 30 minutes to get your order in, and another 20 minutes or so to get the food. The paninis are relatively cheap, only going for about 5-7 euros for sandwich, and the best part is that the portion sizes are huge! You will definitely get full! The paninis were not mindblowingly awesome. The bread was a little on the heavy/chewy side. As if, the bread was not as fresh, kind of chewy. The filling was very fresh, especially with the abundant amount of vegetables, but on certain bites, it was kind of cold and hot (some ingredients were warm/hot, and some were cold). The inconsistent temperatures of the sandwich made it overall alright. We were glad we tried paninis, especially in Florence.

La Fettunta produces one of the biggest and best sandwiches I had the pleasure of devouring. It is literally the size of your face and weighs at least two pounds. It is located in the middle of downtown Florence with dozens of other competing restaurants and sandwich houses. There are no exclusive clauses here. With so much tourist traffics and hungry mouths, everyone gets to eat and the restaurant owners are making money hand over fist. Some lines are 1-3 hours wait so customer service is not their forte. You just feel lucky that your line moves fast, order a load of food, and wait patiently until they call your name. Our carryout bag of 4 sandwiches was at least 10 pounds and each cost around 7 euros (kind of makes you want to move here). Make sure that you order the "Compagno Di Merende". It comes with an abundance of Porchetta, Pecorino cheese, arugula, caramelized onions, and an amazing spicy red pepper sauce. I might be eating these Italian sandwiches all week long!

This place is amazing. Carlotta and company welcomed us with amazing service. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown. We ordered the Florentine steak and it was the best we had our whole trip. The pasta was great. For appetizers, we had the raw sausage and it was also one of our favorites. This is a must go to in Florence.

You can get some pretty amazing sandwiches in the US, but after my trip to Italy- I'll make my case for why the panini of this Tuscan city rules them all. In the heart of Tuscany, amidst the narrow, cobbled streets busy with pedestrians, cyclists are the world's greatest sandwiches. Nowhere is the culture of cured meat and cheese making as spirited than it is in the hills in and around Florence. The centuries-old culture and traditions of cheese- and meat-making here produce some of the finest food creations in the world, and they happen to be quintessential sandwich ingredients. Italian panini are made from a low quantity of high quality ingredients, each prepared in a way respectful to how they should actually taste. The bread they use is called- Schiacciata, it's similar to focaccia but there's key differences. Both breads are Italian flatbreads, but the Schiacciata is more thin and chewy while the focaccia is spongy and tall. Schiacciata is a kind of bread traditionally made in the regions of Tuscany and Umbria, in central Italy and Focaccia is native to Genoa. I ordered the Porchetta sandwich or from the menu "Compagno Di Merende". It was delightful... just wonderful ingredients on delicious Schiacciata bread. The generous amount of porchetta was juicy, moist, and tasted amazing. There was also pecorino cheese, arugula, caramelized onions, and a delicious spicy red pepper sauce. The size of this thing was huge and it was only 6 euro! It's worth noting that this place gets extremely busy as does the more famous shop close by, but this line was a little smaller and I'd definitely recommend coming here instead.

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch. Gino was awesome. Prices were fair. I absolutely loved it the bruschetta! We also ordered a caprese salad. It was super fresh -- very large tomatoes and they were delicious. We also shared an ordered of the pepper meat dish and it was like a goulash with peppercorns and it was super flavorful. The bread was good! The wine was good! All and all a good expereience. Good location, clean bathrooms.

40. Le Fettunta Affordable florentine steak for good quality! Food/Drink: We got the 1 kg florentine steak for two to share along with two bottles of house wine. The steak itself was cooked in the traditional way (although they did offer to cook it medium rare for those who are uncomfortable with eating raw meat) and was humongous, more than enough for 2 to share. The order of steak also came with a basket of bread. I don't know much about florentine steaks but this one was juicy, succulent, and delicately flavored with simply salt and pepper. Price: The way they price your order is by how much your steak weighs starting with 35 euros per kilo. Our whole meal including the wine ended somewhere around 50 euros which is on the cheaper side when pursuing florentine steak. Atmosphere: It's a very comfortable restaurant with air conditioning and a friendly wait staff well versed in english. It's also super casual so no need to dress up and there's even a back room for larger groups. Tips: If you can bear it, try to eat the florentine steak in the traditional way!!

If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine in a quintessential Italian restaurant, with great options of both pastas and meats, this is your spot... LOOK NO FURTHER. The food was mouth watering and delicious. I had the gnocchi with mozzarella, tomato and basil, and it tasted like everything was prepared fresh on the spot (like handpicked from the garden two minutes ago fresh). This was exactly the Italian dish I had been waiting for. The two other pastas I tried were just as good, including the lasagna with meat and tortellini with ricotta and spinach. The restaurant is so cozy and authentic. Brick walls, wine barrels hanging from the ceiling, wooden tables with wooden chairs, small private rooms, and chefs prepping your food by the front as you walk in. This is the perfect spot for lunch or dinner!! They offered the menu in English and Italian which I really appreciate. The service was excellent as well, very friendly and accommodating. Honestly the nicest service I've had in Italy as I've gone to other family owned restaurants that weren't as friendly. If I could recommend a spot to fill your Italian craving, this would most definitely be it! You can't go wrong here. read more

We came here looking to eat Florentine steak without breaking the bank and we couldn't have been happier about our choice. Cheaper than most places we saw (about 35 euros for over a Kg of steak) but still authentic and truly delicious! They serve with seasoned with only salt, pepper and olive oil and grill it perfectly with great char on the outside and red juicy meat on the inside. We had it with the house wine and a side of grilled vegetables and it was definitely more than enough for two. The tables next to us ordered pasta which looked very decent also. It's not a fine dining place, hence there is no premium for the food, but if you're looking to enjoy florentine steak in a more Italian ristic home feel than this is the place for you! read more

Came here based on the amazing reviews from Yelp which usually steers us right, but not in this case. By all means this restaurant was still just fine, but we came for the Florentine steak which was very subpar and very expensive. We are Canadian and may he spoiled with our beef, and we have steaks that look like this at home (porterhouse) and it is melt in your mouth tender and buttery. This steak was very tough and very chewy and quite tiresome to eat. We ordered as well the grandfather cannelloni which was quite good, but again nothing special. The drink selection was pretty bad (only bad beer and wine, no cocktails) and all in all with one beer and wine, steak, pasta and salad it was €62. Very overpriced for the quality of steak (this is grocery store unaged quality). I wouldn't come again. The pictures are deceiving. read more

Great service and food. We went to the panini shop next to the restaurant. I eat gluten free so I asked for the frittata without bread and received the awesome dish you see pictured. The other 5 people I was with got paninis and they looked amazing. read more

Small and quaint, though I would like to dim the lights a bit. Food was amazing. My family all loved the Bolognese. The food was so good, we went back the next night. Second night, we had the steak, a very large steak. Again, another fantastic meal. Remember, this is not fancy - it's like eating at home, with a Tuscan chef, and you don't need to clean the table right away. read more

I'm shocked that this restaurant has gotten such positive reviews- to be clear, we sat in the ristorante so this review is solely on that. First, they have workers at the door ushering you in one side or the other depending on if you want to sit. Neither of which was friendly or welcoming. They made us feel like an imposition. After having lived in Florence for 3 months and visiting other times, i should have known immediately to walk away. This is not the typical Fiorentino attitude. When we were sat the menu was lacking- not even tons of pasta or pizza but rather items that said things like "turkey £8", "roast pork (ours!) £10" but without an explanation. When the waiter first came over he said something unintelligible and then became annoyed that we weren't ready to order. When we finally did, we ended up getting gnocchi that seemed....dare i say....microwaved. Mushy, no sauce sticking to the pasta, big hunks of cheese. Just not good. We also had panzanella which had breadcrumb sized bits of bread rather than larger pieces, and a tagliere misto that had the cheapest tasting prosciutto i've ever had in italy. All in all, i couldn't wait for the meal to be over. Do yourself a favor- go next door to All'Antico and get a sandwich or walk to Trattoria San Lorenzo for a nice sit down Tuscan meal. Here there doesn't seem to be respect for the food or the customer. read more

The place was very cosy, nice design. The food was really good and reasonably priced, we didn't have to wait long for our food either. The people who, irked their were mostly very friendly. Overall a very enjoyable evening and certainly would recommend! The big plate was, as the name says, a big plate. Nice meat, fresh vegetables and (speaking as a belgian) very good fries! read more

I rarely give five stars but this place definitely deserves it. The English menu doesn't have dish names, only descriptions, so I can't quite tell you what I had, but I do remember it had "Grandfather Sausage" in the description. Fantastic. It was like a lasagna but rolled up, stuffed with a finely ground mixture of soft cheese and something green (spinach?), and sausage. My wife had a dish involving pici, sausage, and truffles. Also fantastic, according to her. Though the antipasto labeled "cold cuts and cheeses" sounds vague and unappetizing, I do recommend it. I can't personally speak for the quality of the Florentine steak but the guy at the table next to ours kept raving about it so much that his wife (more or less) told him to shut up. Take that as you will. One warning: the portion sizes are generous, bigger than I ever had in four days in Rome. Like, American size. You'll basically roll out of this restaurant. My wife and I had one pasta dish each, one appetizer, a bottle of wine, a liter of water, and one small dessert -- and we're stuffed. At €55, that's a pretty good deal. read more

So happy I found this place! Was walking around in crazy heat, starving. Was seated at spacious table, terrific service (drinks, ice, etc). Ordered the tagliatelle with three meats ("chicken, rabbit, bird" - I didn't argue that chicken is also a bird). Started to order the salad, and the waiter says, "our portions are large - maybe start with just the one dish?" Saying this, the gentleman cut the potential bill in half, but I really appreciate the care and integrity. The past was amazing - fresh, flavorful, filling. Will be back! read more

We knew someone who was a friend of the owners, Claudio and Carlotta, and he recommended La Fettunta to us. It seems like most people come here for lunch, as the restaurant's cured sandwich meats are popular. We came here for dinner. I really like steak, so of course I had to try the Bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine Steak). I do think the Americans have the best steak, but the Bistecca alla Fiorentina here comes very close. We also had a special which was a pasta with guanciale and shaved truffles -- delicious! Since it was only a pasta of the day, I do not think they have it as a regular item. If you see it on the menu, definitely get it! Mmm...meat and truffles... read more

The food is delicious but the service is horrible. Half of the employees are very rude and won't even give you a straight answer on hours of operation. If looking for a vegetarian dish, the eggplant parm is amazing. The sausage cannelloni only has sausage on the top of the dish so this can be ordered without the sausage to make a very wonderful vegetarian dish. I ate here twice and did not need a reservation. read more

Great cheap house wine, amazing Florentine Steak (30 euros, I'm not a fan of steak, but the SO gave it high marks), and a great pappardelle bolognese. It was a full house when we went and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The service was friendly, and I more than enjoyed the food there. I would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence. Come hungry! read more

So this place is the next door over from the most famous sandwich shop in Florence, All'antico Vinaio. I guess due to how popular that place is, this gem gets over shadowed. The sandwiches here are prepared warm, unlike All'antico. The turkey panino with veggies and Argula Salsa literally warmed my heart. I've been hooked ever since, and switch it up between the multiple types of sandwiches they offer. They are so good they literally boost my mood -- need I say more? Skip the ridiculous lines of All'antico and enjoy one of the best paninos in Florence. They also offer a nice menu of local favorites for sit down. Their Florentine steak is regarded as one of the best in the area, but I personally haven't tried it -- yet. read more

La Fettunta was recommended by our Airbnb host and is also positively prominent on Yelp so we decided to give it a shot and it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. As we were handed a full-on English menu, we knew it's definitely a tourist trap- having to pay for bread and olive oil is the first sign a restaurant isn't in it for the passion. We started with the antipasti Toscana which was an assortment of prosciutto and cheese, not bad- but quite small compared to other antipasti we have had in Italy, and really garnished with the most minimal radicchio. The house red was pretty good. The steak florentine was not great... chewy and fatty... Cheap- yes, but not really because you had to tack on an extra 5-10 euros each for potatoes or grilled veggies whereas the steak florentine at other places generously offers beans, spinach, potatoes, salad in the price of one order. Large portion? Yes, but again- I am one to choose quality over quantity. Service was good. Atmosphere was good. read more

Get the whole steak florentine. You can share it between two people, probably more. When we went, it was only 30euros and we stuffed ourselves between my girlfriend and I. 15 euros each for the best meal I had while in Italy? Done. The steak was cooked beautifully. I feel like I was in a dream when I was eating it. So juicy, so savory, just unreal. In addition to the steak, we got a bottle of wine and a simple side salad to just break it up a little, but the steak was out of this world. Steak plus a good bottle of Italian Sangiovese, oh yeah. Fantastico! We read the reviews and then checked with our hotel staff. They said "Yes. This is a great place to eat". They were right! We started with the Olive Oil & Garlic Fetunta (grilled bread). They certainly didn't skimp on the oil and garlic. For our main course we had the Florentine Steak. Wow! It was delicious and there was so much! 32 ounces for €30. It is as seasoned perfectly and filled over open flame. You should eat here tonight! read more

I am going to start out with we were super excited about coming here, my GF wanted to save it for the last night and she couldn't wait to have the giant steak..... I think I might be spoiled back home as when I see meat come out medium rare I expect it to melt in my mouth, to be full of flavour..... this was not either. The steak was tough and full of fat, it took quite a bit of chewing to get through each slice, there was no flavour for the meat, it was mediocre. We also ordered Grandads Cannelloni and this was a much better dish then the steak. I wouldn't rush to go back to this restaurant anytime soon. read more

Amazing sammich. I had the "anti-vegetarian" ( not a political statement ). Porchetta, provolone, arugula, and some spicy tomato sauce, all on a toasted foccacia-like bread. Wow! There was a huge queue for some place next door, but i took a trip advisor review and asked a young person who had just ordered one of these...DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! This hidden gem is one of the best places to get a panino to go. I highly recommend. It's next to a very popular panini shop that isn't even as good. Also, they have a great sit down menu as well, and very great and low prices. read more

The eggplant parmigiana was delicious. It's right next to the famous sandwich shop and we did not have the patience to wait as we were hungry. Plus my girlfriend does not eat red meat and it looked like all the paninis were meat filled. read more

A good meal in an area full of tourist traps. My guess is the restaurant was mostly tourists but still an excellent lunch. I had a thick pasta with a sausage sauce (think bolognese but with sausage instead of ground meat). Perfectly cooked pasta (exactly as you would expect in Italy), good portion and great flavor. Also nice service. My daughter loved her gnocchi, son like his ribs and wife enjoyed her eggplant parmesan. I would doubt you could find a better option near the Uffizi or Duomo. read more

Just came here today for lunch and everything was perfect. We had the salad with mozzarella, tomato, lettuce, olives. For pasta I tried the strozzapreti and my friend had the tortellini. Both pastas we're extremely flavorful and the price was perfect. Would come back again! The decor is so cute. read more

Was window shopping for pizza (while people window shop for clothing and suveniors, I window shop for pizza and gelato!!). I normally go to places that have Tripadvisor stickers on the door or if there is a line because I just assume it is good. I'm having problem getting any connection (T Mobile here....) on my phone so I just went in after seeing pizza with eggplant, tomatoes, and spinach from the street. Girl that worked there was friendly just judging by her smile. They way they do pizza in Italy at these shops is interesting. The pizza is already made but then they have these little pizza ovens to reheat it. The slice I had was perfect for a late lunch. I got it to go to take to my apartment next door to type this review and to figure out my plan for tomorrow since my fat ass woke up at 1:15 and has to figure out some way of doing Lucca, Pisa, and Siena all in one day (I've been told it cannot be done but godspeed, I will try!!!). 1 nice size slice to go was 3 Euros. I will most likely return before I leave Florence. read more

Truly one of the best meals I've ever had. I am a total foodie and very into local eats and from all my travels , this place trumps most based upon price, ambiance, authenticity and flavor. Wow ! I've came here twice in the same trip in Florence. We had the bistec for sit down and sandwich on focaccia for take away. Both times were excellent. We had the florentine bistec. We had medium rare bistec which is absolutely delicious. We ordered grilled vegetables and potatoes on the side. Everything tasted fresh and amazing. The bistec can be shared for two people. It wasn't overly seasoned and was perfect. It was 30 euros for a kilo with no sides added. It was worth it. The sandwiches were perfect. He ordered the salami with tomato and cheese. I ordered the prosciutto with tomato, cheese & basil. Both were delicious. I'd recommend to come here. Staff was sweet and very helpful. read more

I love florentine steak. One of the first restaurants I tried upon my arrival to Florence and I fell in love with the food, the atmosphere, and even more in love with the city. If you're planning on coming to La Fettunta make sure to get the florentine steak, I'm pretty picky about my steak but they cook it to perfection. Went to this restaurant based on all the great reviews on here and TripAdvisor- it didn't disappoint! Got antipasto and gnocchi, and another pasta. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. We followed other yelpers to this place. Excellent food and service. Than had menu in English. We had the florentine steak(30€ per kg), grill the sausage(8€) and Panna cotta(2.5€). The steak was too much for 2 person to share, but it worth to try. read more

First of all, the food and the ambiance was amazing. Unfortunately, though, the service was terrible. Very very slow and you couldnt catch anyone's attention. We have been living in Florence now for 2 months and my boyfriend is italian. He was very disappointed by the service. I ordered gnocchi with a rich, beautiful tomato sauce topped with buffalo mozzarella. My boyfriend ordered pork. His pork was way too salty, but my gnocchi was divine. read more

Absolutely the most amazing food we have tried during our entire Italian your! We visited Rome, Pisa, and Venice but Florence has the BEST food and wine! This place was our favorite!! We tried the roast pork sandwich and the beef stew and it was awesome! Also, saw great home made cheeses and other meats that we wish we would have tried! Order the Chianti wine! This little store front near the duomo was simply amazing. We will come back another time or two before we leave Florence. We ordered the lasagna and gnocchi. We also got the fried polenta which was nothing special. But the other dishes were simply fabulous! The food tasted so fresh with such rich flavors. I've never been so blown away by Italian food. And it was very affordable (8-10 euros). Highly highly recommend. read more

A really laid back place, with friendly service and delicious and filling food. I love well prepared aubergine, and the eggplant parmesan was everything I wanted, it just melted in my mouth perfectly. Definitely worth a visit. read more

The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! I saw other tables order pasta so we came back a second time, this time for lunch, to try something else. I got the lasagna and my boy friend got... I don't remember.. Pasta with meat sauce.
