Food and price were fantastic. Loved the Pico and so much of it. The kids loved the chips as side dishes! No pizza as we needed a break! Good value although with the sides and wine it is not under 10 euros/person - more like 12 euros per person. Good atmosphere - mainly walk in tourists though. Service was erratic but that was fine as we don't like to be constantly checked in on. No tap water served (we asked and were declined) which was odd as we saw several other folks just stand up and go get themselves a glass of tap water - seemed odd in this day and age when everyone knows Rome's water distribution supply is ok to drink and we shouldn't be destroying the world by drinking bottled water anymore. This place was my favorite place to eat during my study abroad in Florence. I never went to the restaurant (unfortunately), but i frequented at the deli side next door. The workers were friendly, quick, and helpful. I don't have enough good things to say about the panino I'd get. I'd order I'Compagno with peppers and their garlic sauce and it was to die for. Went here last night with my brother based off other Yelp reviews and this place did not disappoint. It's a cute little restaurant not far for the river. We shared the florentine steak on the menu and it was out of this world. I don't know if it's because I'm in Italy, but it was one of the best of my life. The BEST panini in Florence and probably the entire world. They are packed FAT with the best ingredients. The truffle Gorgonzola spread is LIFE CHANGING. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. I think your experience will depend on what you order. My wife's porchetta was really tasty and if the rest of the meal followed suit, I might be tempted to give five stars. My daughter and I split the canneloni and the lamb dishes. The canneloni was good, but really nothing special. The "pile of lamb" dish should have been named "pile of bone, gristle, and fat". Based on that dish, two stars would be generous. I can't speak for the rest of the menu. If you go, I hope you make some good choices. read more

The best panino I've had in Florence so far, over the last three months. The woman who runs the panino place is super super friendly, and was happy to help me practice Italian! The panini are fresh and the ingredients--and you can get a lot of ingredients--are grilled and toasted. I've tried the roast beef and the salsiccia, both are amazing, and you can add sundried tomatoes, arugula, grilled veggies, smoked cheese, and all kinds of sauces (I like the olive spread). I love this place so much more than All'Antico Vinaio, the famous panini shop next door! read more

I guess it was my mistake coming here for a Florentine steak, but I was pretty disappointed. It was cooked well and the seasoning was good but the meat quality wasn't as great as expected. It was tough and chewy. Although, I liked that there weren't too many fatty parts. We split a kilo between 2 people (38 euros) and had some leftover so the proportion was fine. Bread provided was typical tuscan country bread (hard shell and no salt) which tasted good with the olive oil and red wine vinegar. We were looking for a good Florentine steak and it seemed like every other restaurant around the area was offering the steak. Based on some reviews, we decided to go to La Fettunta and were not disappointed. This is a no frills restaurant with servers that seemed like they have been there forever. We ordered the steak, fried potatoes and the spinach. All were amazing but the steak was definitely the star of the show. Sorry to give it such a low rating. If I was was rating the staff alone, I would have give it at least 4-stars. Also, the portions were healthy and the prices very reasonable. Unfortunately, everything else left us short. The house wine tasted like grape juice w alcohol. The main dishes were all served lukewarm (we had to send two back because they were cold in the middle) and they lacked depth of flavor. The Cannelloni was the best main dish of the four we had. The bread was awful. The crumb (the non-crust part of the bread) was dry and dense. It needed salt as well. We would have rather paid a little more to get better flavor. When we walked out there was s line of people waiting to get into All' Antico Viniao, the sandwich store next door. Read my earlier review of that place. I wish I had gone there instead. This is the first 5 star review I have ever given out. Wow! This place is great!!!!! The steak was the best in had ever had. The pasta the next night was just as good. It is less than half the price of anything approaching this level of taste and quality. Like I have said in a couple of other reviews, don't let the wait staff scare you off. Went to this spot with some friends after I already ate (silly me) but still got to taste a few dishes ie sausage canneloni which was great. Determined not to miss out I came the next day to find they also provide a take away service. Got the roast pork and fried vegetables, the pork was of the highest quality and the portion was huge! Well worth the €10 I spent. The decor of this little gem was also great and the waitresses spoke English which helped me and my friends a lot! I literally made a Yelp account to praise this restaurant. It was without a doubt the best food I've ever had, literally my favorite sandwich. Get the porchetta sandwich on focaccia bread with pecorino cheese (that's what the waiter recommended too). It was only $6. My friend and I were in heaven. Cheap pasta and wine,what else can you ask for? The sauce and cheese were delicious and filled my cravings for pasta. I would definitely check it out if you want a lot of food for a good price. Did not get the steak as it was only my wife and I, but it looked really good. We got the pork, gnocchi, and parpadelle. I would probably order the same again. La Fettunta was so good that we went there for dinner two nights in a row. It has the feel of a family-run restaurant, and all the dishes that we ordered were absolutely delicious. The staff were warm and friendly, and had more than adequate English too. One of the excellent dishes we had was the Florentine Steak. One thing we've learned during our trip is that many places may advertise serving this dish, but not all of them do it well. Here it was cooked to perfection; thick, tender, flavorful and juicy. (At some of the tourist ripoff places it is the opposite in all ways.) La Fettunta had what looked to be an entire short loin on display, and their steaks were generously cut from that. The restaurant is small, so we recommend getting there on the early side for dinner. read more

I really want to like this place. Really. I went by the reviews and thought it would be a nice last night in Florence meal. It was not. I'm not sure why but they have the restaurant part cordoned off and we had to ask if they're open (there were other diners there...why the cord)? Four of us were seated in the very back area in a cubby that fit 2 tables of four. It was so stuffy and warm. We all ordered pasta and 1 liked hers- the sausage and pasta. One got pappardelle with pesto and tomato. Hardly any pesto and little flavor. Mine was disgusting. I got pici with meat sauce and mushrooms, which I've been ordering all over Tuscany for 2 weeks now and it's always awesome. The mushrooms tasted off, maybe they were marinated in something? Something gross, obviously. They tasted sour and just not edible so I picked them off after trying to eat a few. The meat sauce wasn't very good either. I don't get it. Also, the menu had like 7 things on it, so not much to choose from. Maybe the steak would be the thing to order, but we definitely won't be back! read more

Honestly the best food I had my entire time on vacation. Definitely get the 1.3 kilogram steak-it's perfectly made and a Florence speciality. Also definitely try the Pici w/ meatsauce and mushrooms. Pici is also a speciality that is 100% amazing here, just like all the other food. I had an amazing dinner and even came back the next night for more. On top of being absolutely phenomenal, the price is amazing and on average lower significantly than most meals. What a weird experience. This looked like a nice little spot, and we had read some good reviews so we stopped by for a quick lunch. We ordered two pasta dishes (pappardelle and gnocchi) and a grilled sausages to share. The food was decent - if anything, a bit over-seasoned. The ambience was okay as well - nothing too fancy or over the top. I did enjoy the place settings that local teens had drawn on, which were hanging in the dining area. The weird part for me was the unwelcoming service. Every restaurant we visited in Venice and Florence catered well to us even though we didn't speak much Italian, taking care to be patient and explaining things on the menu. At Fettunta, an older lady served us without a hint of a smile all throughout the meal. She would simply drop off our dishes and go about her way, while checking in with other tables and being friendly to Italian patrons. We didn't even get our bread basket until the end of our meal. It seemed like she didn't really want us to linger at the restaurant much longer. Maybe this experience was an outlier, but I wouldn't want to go back after the borderline rude service. read more
