It's not a boutique gym with luxury perks like spa treatments, dim lighting, or personal attendants--it's a high-volume gym that serves all kinds of people. They offer a solid range of amenities: classes, yoga, aquafit, core workouts, cycling, and usually a pool and a basketball court. Some have sauna and whirlpool. The Menifee location is on the smaller side, so yes, during peak hours it can be tough to access equipment. But that's just reality--you can only fit so many people into a limited space. Several nearby locations have more size and thus more amenities like a sprint track and weight sled. Not so at Minifee ... they just don't have the space. Understood. Sure, a deep clean every now and then wouldn't hurt, but it's not like the place is neglected. Staff are regularly cleaning floors and wiping down equipment throughout the day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Moreover I've always found the staff the be friendly attentive, and they answer the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At the end of the day, it's a busy, compact gym with decent machines, enough free weights, plus pools a basketball court that offers several fitness classes. Decided to go to the gym first thing in the morning today, had a pre work out drink so had to run in to use the urinal... mind you the doors had just opened. Well as I walked back to the bathroom area it started to smell like an alley in Tijuana. The Urine smell was so strong, the cleanliness has been slacking and the last thing I want to smell especially first thing in the morning is a strong urine smell. I had a really disappointing experience at LA Fitness. The gym itself is often dirty -- equipment looks like it hasn't been wiped down, it's a small location, and the overall cleanliness feels neglected. For a place people come to improve their health, the hygiene standards should be much better. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What made the experience worse was the sales staff. I have been a long time member at 24 Hour Fitness (nearly 30 years), but with our moving up to Riverside County from San Diego a few years ago the nearest location is a 25 minute drive from my home. So I recently decided to to join LA Fitness since they have more locations in the area. I have been to this location 3-4 times now and I really appreciate how clean and well maintained it is. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff seem nice and I have seen a woman cleaning the two nights I have been there[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The equipment is in good condition but will take some getting used to as I am definitely more comfortable with the equipment at 24 Hour Fitness. My only complaint is that the cardio equipment is up stairs and there are no ceiling fans so it gets kind of warm. I have not checked out the pool yet or any of the fitness classes but will plan to do so before long. read more

This gym advertised a pool available for lap swimming and exercise but they have rented it out to a private company that does swim lessons. This company is allowed to use 2 of the 3 lanes whenever they want and no schedule is available. If you are a lap swimmer and are swimming a mile or whatever, you can get kicked out or forced to swim 4 swimmers to a lane plus the "walkers" and older folks exercising in the only free lane . Not only is this dangerous for all of us but it is unfair; LA fitness is getting paid double and we can't even swim! I do not recommend this gym at all unless you like to swim early morning or late evening !! read more

I have been here a few times, and each visit has been great. It's loaded with a bunch of machines, weights, and a variety of classes, plus a pool, which most gyms don't have. The bathroom is always clean, which is always a plus in my book! They also have a separate room for clients who choose to do personal training. There are open stretching areas, as well as rowing machines and a racquetball court. If you need it, they also offer a Kids Club. The people here are always respectful of others, and the place is kept up nicely. I don't think I've seen any machine with a sign saying it needs repair. It's pretty frustrating when you want to use it, and it stays like that for weeks (I've seen it at other gyms). I rotate my workouts and having L.A. Fitness as an option is helpful. I wish they had infrared saunas, though!! read more

Buyer beware! The gym is nice enough but really read your contract. The salespeople tell you you're getting one thing but buried in your contract, they don't actually give you what they said. For example, my membership was supposed to have guest privileges but what I tried to bring a guest, I was told I don't have guest privileges and would have to pay a monthly fee to upgrade. The contract is cluttered and not easily understood and they hide behind "company policies" when they are later asked to provide what was promised. My husband and I worked out of this gym 5 days a week. Cleanliness is not that great. The treadmills are so dirty with thick dust. I believe that this should be a daily task throughout to keep the facility clean but it's not. Some treadmill needs to be fix, a few are not up to speed (too slow). Some ellipticals make noises when you stride. The stairs are so filthy! It looks like it hasn't been mop for weeks. LA Fitness you can do better! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. When I canceled my membership, I expected that to include everything associated with my account add-ons included. Apparently, LA Fitness doesn't think that's obvious. I was charged for an add-on this month , only to be told I needed to either come in person or send a separate email to cancel it. If add-ons are treated separately, they should make that crystal clear during the cancellation process or at least ask, "What about your add-ons?"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Add-ons are part of the membership; why would I want those to continue if I'm canceling everything? Have been a long time member of LA Fitness. Yesterday at 8:50 am at the Menifee location, a person (with a cane) tripped over the front door floormat and faceplanted on the concrete while entering the gym. It took the front desk staff 15 minutes to go 10 steps to see if the person was all right (they clearly were not). 38 people in the pool saw the whole episode. If whomever tripped that day, by some luck sees this review, don't hesitate to reach out when you get around to taking legal action. There are 38 witnesses to the horrific treatment you received. Side note- LA Fitness needs to educate it's employees on how to handle situations with human compassion and professionalism. Staff that day were woefully inactive and uncaring. What would have happened if the woman died? Based on what I saw, it would have taken 10-15 minutes to determine that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Front desk personnel are rude and completely unable/unwilling to help customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] LA Fitness pays their employees less than minimum wage (not legal) so there is a lot of turnover. The bathrooms frequently have at least 2 if not 3 (out of 5 toilets available) out of service at any given time. If you are paying for personal training make sure you use your sessions up or they will screw you out of your money. I am one of several people that lost thousands of dollars during the pandemic from not "having used my training sessions in an allotted amount of time (not disclosed to me)". All in all LA Finess falls seriously short on providing clean, consistent and affordable services. Go elsewhere if you can. And make sure to read the fine print on any gyms contract! read more

This facility is very well kept and clean. The gym is fairly new, but I've seen some that get destroyed and the equipment is not taken care of. This one, you can tell that they are keeping it in good condition. I went in for a cycling/spin class and had fun. The instructor was very energetic and it seems she's developed a good relationship with a lot of the riders. It helps to be more comfortable and then more or less know how the instructor is and their riding style. I would have to say that the only thing that keeps me from giving this gym five stars is that there is no sauna. This was a major bummer for me as I wanted to go in there after my workout to sweat a little more. read more

I've been going here for over six months straight six days a week. I'm pretty mellow and I don't typically complain, but I've had it! Whoever manages this particular, gym does a piss poor job. They had a lighting issue inside the gym two weeks ago yet we still do not have a resolution as I walk in every day at 5 AM. There are elderly people getting in the pool in the dark. I have to use my phone light just to be able to navigate throughout the gym yet nobody seems to ever have an answer. In addition to that their dumbbell set up is ridiculous. Nothing has ever been in order the entire time that I have gone to this gym [[HIGHLIGHT]]you would think at some point with all of the people that I know that go there and have complained they would have fixed some stuff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I know I will be taking myself and four other buddies to a different gym because I have had it it's not that hard to separate the racks and actually keep things organized but the way they have it set up. No one can figure out what goes where I've been to a few different gyms testing them out in the last week and nobody else seems to have this issue besides them. As I go through and look at these other reviews that are on here the ones that have a lower rating are definitely the people that actually go here and not just other people trying to give them a better review this Jim is very dirty. Be aware all these recent 5 star reviews are done by the employees which tell you there is a serious problem going on here when you need the employees to boost the yelp rating. First I'll start by saying they don't keep any employees so something is going on here. I been a member for about 9 months. I did a 6 month personal training contract with Marco who quit before entering my cancellation and instead of corporate doing the correct thing and refunding me my $180 that shouldn't have been charged, they basically said oh well. So i called the bank and now they can prove they are entitled to the funds as i have txt messages between me and Marco the training director and the trainer confirming it was cancelled and i would not be continuously charged. Any contract with a duration that you still have to cancel is a clear indicator that's is grimmey business. If the contract is 6 months then that's the contract, this just another way to take advantage of the customers. I really like the LA Fitness in Menifee! The layout of the equipment is nice - it's pretty easy to find everything you need... unless it's a dumbbell. The free weight section is always a hot mess. The weights are all mixed up & placed in the wrong areas, but I fault the members for that one! I knocked off a star solely due to the volume of the music. It's like that scene from The Grinch: "And then all the noise. All the noise, noise, noise, NOISE!". My husband wears noise-cancelling earbuds while he works out and even he still hears the music! I might have given LA Fitness more leeway if they were blasting Africa by Toto because that's really the only song worthy of being blared at such an astronomical level. Overall it's a good gym. I have been a member for years, I even pay for my grandson. Two things happened today that made me think that no one should ever join. The first had to be with my grandson. When he is off to college he calls the gym and puts his membership on hold. He called one time a month for two months. I was charged his full price for those two months. So today I went to the gym, asked what happened and please refund two months except the $10 hold fee. They would only do one. I got one month refunded. They kept the other the other month. The second thing was my account. So I am a disabled veteran and I have cancer. So I ended my membership, well frankly, I didn't know what was going to happen. I am very blessed, surgery, chemo, and radiation therapy and I am doing well. So I decided that I would go back and see about renewing my membership. I explained what had happened and since I had no clue if I was going to survive I stopped the membership. It is not even a year and here was their answer. I pay no money upfront, no initiation fee, but I pay a higher monthly fee, or I pay a large initiation fee and pay about $10 less per month.. or if I wanted to get my original price per month, which I gave a lot of money to begin with, then I pay the $10 per month hold fee for a gym that I could have not used due to cancer treatment. We did not know, and no doctor was going to promise that I would survive. I am still not out of the woods, the doctors, through good medicine, wonderful staff, have given me a chance,,, What the staff has proved is that they are simply unemphatic, they don't care. It is strictly all about money. It was pure greed on the part of the staff. What they were doing was gouging me for as much money upfront as they could get from me, so I am guessing that the staff gets a bonus, money on the side, a percent for what they collect. And that is why this staff member would not just bring me back at the same price without a lot of money. Given the medical problems, well I thought the staff was more empathetic towards the people they pay their salary. Don't join. read more
