Another rowing machine has been broken for half a year with a maintenance sign on it. The other 2 don't have working computers and tension controls. It has a broken cord. Emailed about it, stopped asking personally months ago because nothing would be done. Surprised it is taking this long again to service the only working rowing machine. They also rarely refill the machine wipes even when it's the middle of the afternoon. This used to be a decent LA Fitness, now numerous machines have been broken or out of commission for months, and if they do work, it's barely. The free weights are constantly missing or lost somewhere in the gym since they have no one keeping up with the floor. Four of the stair steppers have been broken since the start of 2024 and I have recently noticed numerous broken treadmills. The music in the place is so loud and horrible and even with my noise cancelling headphones on and turned all the way up, I can hear it. Many of the regulars have complained about the music, but they do nothing about it and it seems to be louder than ever. If this is your only option, the gym will work, but just know, you get what you pay for ;) read more

Ever since they shut down the Morton Grove LA Fitness on March 27, 2019 I have been trying to find a a LA Fitness to replace it. This location the Mt Prospect gym is a nice new clean new gym but like all of the LA Fitness gyms they're cookie cutter designs and really lack anything that sets them apart. Plus the fact that it's 15 miles from my house wo/any expressway route to and from this location. It takes me 30 minutes to get here & 30 minutes to get home. None of the gyms have a steam sauna anymore & the only other LA Fitness gym that has a track is the Cumberland location. This Cumberland gym is shit hole that is located in the basement with old dingy equipment and NO WIFI or a very weak signal that almost never works. I have run into a few members from the previous club at both locations but it really doesn't come close to the 40,000 SF Morton Grove location. Sorry but that's the way I feel as do many of the other members I have spoken to. read more

I have been coming here for over 5 years. This place is constantly going down hill. We all know that gyms are not perfect, especially at this price point, but this place is a hot mess. The club is well furnished with up to date machines, racquet ball courts, a basketball court, free weights, a heated pool and a hot tub. Sauna. Shakes. And a Joe Donut right down the street for extra incentive.... Donuts at Joe Donut really don't add fat or calories nor do they raise your glycemic index... it's been scientifically proven. Have been a member of this gym for several years and go about 3x a week. Management getting worse especially re cleanliness of facility. I was there today. No toilet paper in several stalls of women's bathroom, no hand towels at all at both sinks. When I mentioned on leaving to the desk manager she smiled and said they were waiting for janitorial staff. This was at 4pm. Can't someone open a closet and provide these simple supplies? Disgusting! read more

xsport was bought by La fitness no problem, except the manger seems to have a mangers high. I'm heading to yoga class already running late, ( no make up looking like one does in a am yoga class) they stop me at the door and insist to take my pic. Fine, can I take one when I am not rushing and have some make on. no ma'am . we have to . why? it's been weeks since you purchased xsport, why must I do this now? because you as management have something to prove ? maybe this doesn't seem like that big a deal to you, but today it is a big deal to me .. I literally didn't get to my yoga class, because they kept insisting. this blows my mind ! I will be looking for a new club until they prove management training to the Schaumburg location. This LA Fitness is so dirty in the shower room every time I visit. They always have something not working. I see often dusty Treadmill which were not been cleaned for a week. Showers have no hot water issues and it took a whole week to fix. Not to mention whirlpool's hot water was broken for 3 weeks and still unfixed. Updating my review of the staff; since the last time I reviewed, the troublesome, unprofessional staff members are no longer... not sure if they quit or finally got their asses fired. Current staff is excellent and friendly. They were very helpful in freezing my account while I was out of the country for several weeks. Also, another difference since my last review, is that they cordoned a few gym equipment with ropes and designated it a "trainer area". Not sure what the rules of engagement is there, but sometimes I do still see people, with no trainer, working out there. Not a huge deal. Some of the equipment is showing some wear and tear, such as the free benches, where the spot where must people lay their heads on are starting to crack and fade. Hopefully they'll maintain their equipment and keep them nice and clean. Overall, I like the new improvements of the staff and the professionalism. Good job guys. read more

Not crazy about the parking lot. Lots of members attend this club. The club is on the corner close to Central Road. Lots of drivers either drive too fast or ignore the pedestrian walk way from the handicapped parking area to the club. Wish there was a speed bump there. Had to assist a disabled person who fell after a vehicle drove past her. read more

Equipment is ok. Staff knows how to help clients not always does though. Relatively clean and decent gym. Worth the money you pay. People complaining about the sweat odor have to realize all working gyms are like that in 4-6 months. Does not matter how you clean it. read more

Paid for training then had to get stents in my arteries. They took 7 sessions valued at $280. The manager said i could have them back if I paid for four per month going forward. My doctor said I could only do 2. They kept my $280 and won't give the sessions back. read more

Staff not enforcing the mask mandate at all whatsoever. No checks. Manager admitted to observing people with no masks, stated policy was to wear them, but doesn't have staff enforcing said policy. Realistically, there's no expectation for every single person to comply but there is an expectation for the business to have integrity and enforce what's posted all over the gym and show effort. If you're tired of wearing a mask indoors this is your place to violate the mandate. read more

However, Michael was very unprofessional telling me that I am not serious about my personal goals and made me feel very unwelcome. Let me preface the review as being a former member of Ballys. Now you all know the quality of Ballys so to go from there and get the SAME membership dues for LA FITNESS, who wouldn't give this place 5 stars?! I have to say, the equipment is top notch, it isn't as crowded as X Sport so you really don't have to wait long for equipment to open up and they have racquetball, full basketball court and a swimming pool. I know the monthly rate is $29.95 but if you're one of the lucky ones like me, you're only paying less than $20 a month. Love this place! read more

If I could give zero star review I definitely would do that. All the comment below with one/two stars are accurate. I agreed with them totally. - Staffs are very condescending (From front desk to managers). Not even asking for a decent customer service, they are just disrespectful the way they speak to you. - Waited for 45 minutes at the front desk to get my membership re-activated while staffs were chatting around. Several of us were waiting to enroll but the staffs seem not care at all. - Staff initiated the conversation of the gym packages even though she was aware that I enrolled my fitness program via my health insurance. Then she asked me if I am interested to do at least one session of the health assessment with the trainer. Please note - she was very condescending from the moment we started the conversation, honestly, if she doesn't want to initiate the health assessment or sell any personal trainer programs, she didn't even have to initiate the topic). - Then she talked about goals and why I wanted to come to the gym. I said I used to be a member and stopped my membership due to the COVID in the past two years. I am just trying to renew my membership and get back to the normal days. Then she kept asking "But why?" And I said, "That's the reason why." She did not believe it and said "You definitely have a goal to come in and the assessment is something to help you find your goal." I told her I literally just want to come in and work out, to get back my daily routine, that's my goal and I am fine not to do the assessment. - Then she started telling me that this assessment is mandatory with my insurance. I was confused so I asked her if she had any document about this assessment program so that I can call my insurance about it. And if this is mandatory I would do it on a different day instead. I just dont want to do it today because I spent so much time to renew my membership already. Then she started being rude and said "Well I dont understand why you can't do it today." And I said because I've been sitting here for an hour already. I really just want to renew my membership and think about this later. Then she said "Well, I dont understand why you can't do it today and dont give me this attitude for turning down the assessment". I said "Excuse me. I am trying to ask for more information about this mandatory assessment which you cannot give me the information so I declined to do it today and you are saying I am giving you an attitude. I have said my reason for coming in to the gym but you didn't like it and you put the blame on me that I am giving you an attitude?" This is shocking. - At the end, I said to her that I didn't want to keep the conversation with her so I would like to call my insurance about this mandatory assessment and I would do it tomorrow when I am there since it is mandatory. Then she said "Your health insurance does not have this information so you dont need to do it if you dont want to". Then I said "I am sorry I am very confused now, so is this mandatory or not??" Then she refused to answer me and said my membership is activated and asked me to leave. Mount Prospect LA Fitness, I tried to give your staffs a benefit of a doubt that they may have a bad day so they talked to customers like this. But seeing all these comments below from other people with the same experiences (some comments were couple months or years ago) I do believe this is the repeated behaviors; and they would only talk nicely to the people who are willing to join the additional programs and treat the people who decline the programs unfairly. For the people who live around Mount Prospect neighborhood and are looking to join the gym membership in this location, watch out and be ready to receive this type of manner as a welcome to you. Glenview IL location is finally up and running. Yesterday was the first day.

Long story short, the associate trying to get me to sign a contract deal was very nice, but I had just gone there to try out the facility. The price was fine and everything, especially with the deal they had going on in March, but I care about the atmosphere too. When the associate couldn't make the sale due to my insisting that I have to try out the facility first, he brings the manager over, and that's when I got peeved. Not only did we go through my "goals" again, but he didn't even ask me before telling me to hold this xbox controller-looking thing. Once some numbers popped up, he said "Well, looks like you have 45 pounds of body fat on you, so think about that while you're working out." Wow. No shit, Sherlock, that's why I'm going to work out. So if a middle-aged dude who can write numbers upside-down starts talking to you, RUN. read more

I heard it happened before, but today it happened to my husband. He left his belongings in the locker room and locked it with a personal lock. When he returned to the locker room after his workout (he said approximately 30 min) there was no lock, and cash was missing from his wallet. He did report it to the staff. read more

Joined because it's relatively inexpensive and on my way to and from work. It's not user friendly(biggest pet peeve of a gym), and they are not enforcing mask or vaccine mandates. They ask for your card, but you can simply show a blank piece of paper and they'll be fine with that. Cleanliness seems decent though. read more

The gym is fine. However I feel as if the staff doesn't monitor the members very well. People utilize the upstairs room where they hold workout classes in the morning and many members use it as their own personal bedroom and play loud music, which in my opinion is very rude and staff should monitor it better. As you can see from the previous posts members do not wear masks and the gym does not enforce the use of masks. Three times in the last week I have left the gym due to members not wearing masks.. I decided to write this review because I chose to complain to management. Five people upstairs were not wearing masks three on cardio machines.. When asked to put on his mask an elderly man called me an idiot and kept saying he was vaccinated and the CDC said it was ok. This is not true. A covid vaccine only means you will not get sick.. It doesn't mean you cannot spread i or carry it.. What frustrated me I was verbally abused in front of an LA fitness employee. The employee walked away and the guy took off his mask. I was disgusted by how the club handled this and it shows me that this particular gym does not care about the health and safety of its members and staff. Stuff like this should never happen. Also the staff should never allow a member to verbally abuse a fellow member. This a pandemic the longer people do not adhere to the rules the longer it will take for us to get back to normal.. I hope management, corporate, future and current members take this review serious and boycott this gym until management can get this gym in order. For this to happen to me 3 times in 5 days it shows the problem lies with LA Fitness management.. The only way the pandemic ends is by working together.. Enforce the state wide mask rules.. it's that simple. Also do not allow members to verbally abuse members that are concerned about health and safety.. Overall decent gym..Relatively clean gym with OKAY equipment..Per usual as with most commercial gyms it's almost impossible to get a good work out in during the late afternoon hours as it's insanely packed (NOT LA's fault). The thing that bothers me is the manager is a mask enforcing psycho..He will walk all the way across the gym to tell you to put your mask on...Ridiculous in my opinion. I went there today for an 11 am Zumba class with "Helen" the instructor. There were 3 or 4 people with their face masks below their chin. One of them was a Zumba trainee that Helen was working with. Helen decided to push her personal agenda and dictated to the class that anybody who doesn't wear their mask is at risk of getting fined $500 and she personally will invoke it. She was mean and unprofessional. During the whole time she did not address the trainee she herself was training who did not have the mask over his nose. It was unbelievable. I told the Manager and I called corporate who is supposed to get back to me. I am not letting this go. I am a paying customer. Their membership has diminished and I can see why. My complaint is that the club allows an Instructor to threaten members. read more

This LA Fitness Club in Mount Prospect, IL is not enforcing mask wearing by its members. They may wear them coming in, but beware.... when you are working out, you will see so many members being defiant and non-compliant in wearing a mask. I've seen their mask pulled down to their chin, to their neck, not covering both their nose and mouth. LA Fitness management needs to enforce compliance of mask wearing so all members are safe, or they may risk being shut down. It's their responsibility to protect public health in their business. read more
