We were second in the check-in line, but took some time for them to greet and seat people. We were told all the tables indoor were taken but there was seating available in the upper outside area. Hubs and kiddo shared the Kimchi fried rice and the chicken wings (honey butter / soy garlic). They noted the chicken wings were crispy. They seemed to like the soy and garlic, but would've liked more flavor for the honey butter. I ordered the Creamchi Rice Cake. Kiddo loved the sauce on top of the fried rice. This was a good dish. The food was okay. I don't go here very often, it's not my side of town and I don't often have a reason to be in the area. In the past, service was really slow. I once 20 minures of my life to get the bill, pay it and leave. I should have gotten up and asked but I didn't feel like that should be required. Over the years, they've proven to be a great spot to take friends from out of town, s long as those friends are willing, able and excited about Korean fusion. They have a few standards. Second visit after many years. The place still looks the same. It is closed to Giradheli square. We made reservation a day earlier. This restaurant used to be very busy one. When we arrived we were the only party but the other tables filled up pretty quickly. Looks like this restaurant has relation with Sweet Maple in Palo Alto as they serve similar dishes like pimped up ramen and the millionaire bacon. We ordered couple dishes like banchan , bbq set tor 1 galbi, Korean Fried Chicken, dolsot bimbimbap snd pimped up ramen. All are yummy especially the fried chicken. The pimped up ramen is unique and bacon is yummy. Galbi and dolsot bimbimbap are yummy too but not that special. Usually banchan is free at most of Korean restaurant but you have to pay at this restaurant and I don't think it is re fillable. The service was great and our server was friendly. Stopped by for a Sunday noon brunch/lunch and it was busy and packed! I came with a large group of friends, so we did have a bit of a wait before we got seated. We had a very kind and friendly server, but because it was busy, service was a bit slow and some dishes took a while to come out. The food was delicious though! I ordered a Galbijim Eggs Benedict and it was sooo good! The braised short rib was flavorful and paired well with the rich egg and sauce. The potatoes were okay, but overall it was a great dish. I will say, this is definitely a very heavy dish HAHA. It will likely fill you up and give you leftovers! I washed my meal down with a matcha mojito without whipped cream. Also good! Surisan is my favorite place to eat when I'm in the bay. I remember coming here with my sister and started bringing all my friends every time we would travel to the bay. My favorites are the ricotta pancakes, the millionaire bacon, and the kimchi fried rice. The ricotta pancakes are so fluffy and just the right amount of sweet. The millionaire bacon is nice and thick and I love that there's a sweetness to it. The kimchi fried rice is so homey and familiar. The service is amazing and quick. We came here on a weekday afternoon to celebrate our anniversary. The dining area was super cozy and romantic. We were greeted upon walking in. It took a little longer than expected to order. We ordered the dolsot bibimbap, fries, kimchi, and a loco moco. The bibimbap isn't your traditional korean bibimbap but it was super yummy! Loco moco was delicious and the patty was tender. The fries were extra crispy and the best part was the kimchi. I'm super picky and hesitant when ordering kimchi but so glad I did. However, the service was not that great. While I didn't have it here, I've had it at a Kitchen Story and it was #worthit *Service was fast and friendly *Strawberry Matcha Latte was way better than anticipated, as the strawberry base was made with fresh strawberries and wasn't sickeningly sweet. *Those crispy Yukon potatoes that came with my Benny were simply fantastic; crispy, drained well, and cooked perfectly. For an extra Korean treat, get a side of their house kimchi and add it to the taters. You're welcome. *Both our eggs were cooked to Yolky perfection... *Carissa loved her Dolsot Bibimbap The Meh: *As with all things SF--and especially in the Fisherman's Wharf area--parking can be an issue. I can't believe this is the first time I have tried this place. Service was incredible, ambiance was clean and modern, and the overall experience was amazing. We started with the ube matcha latte, which reminded me of a taro milk tea - amazing. Next we had the Pimped Up Ramyun. Nice, slightly spicy noodles, tossed with veggies and topped with a fried egg and millionaires bacon - delicious. The most underwhelming item was the Galbi Sando. The meat was tasty and the eggs were fluffy; however, the sandwich was very soggy and the entire sandwich fell apart immediately (would not order this again). Our group of 14 came to Surisan to celebrate a birthday - we had a reservation and the max they have available for reservation online is 10, so we had called ahead to let them know we have a larger party, but it seems there may have bene a slight miscommunication. Despite that the service was kind and they helped put together some extra tables/chairs so we could all be seated together. We opted to do the bottomless mimosa ($25/person for 1 hour), and though they had said only the classic mimosa was available for bottomless, they ended up also giving us some of the pomegranate mimosa that we were hoping to try, which we really appreciated! I got the blueberry crunch french toast and the galbijiim eggs benedict to split with a friend, and the french toast was nice and crisp without being heavy, and was surpringly not too sweet. The galbijiim eggs benedict on the other hand was a lot of food and a bit heavy, and I'm glad we split it. Servers were nice and overall vibes were great. I think with Asian fusion places it's hard to balance the bold Asian flavors and meld it with American classics. I felt like the Korean dishes were just okay flavor wise - seafood pancake was a new item that we tried, but I think overall I prefer the more traditional Korean restaurant seafood pancake. I also ordered the MBLT wrap which I thought would taste more "fusion" since it included the millionaire's bacon but it was truly just a wrap with the standard American ingredients. My absolute favorite item we ordered was the Millionaire's Candy. I am a sucker for sweet and savory items and this was so so delicious. If you like your food on the sweeter side, this candied bacon is absolutely for you. I could eat an entire tray of that. I'll have to come back to try other main menu items. I have been dying to try bulgogi beef since I first read about it online and saw it on YouTube. When asking for SF food recommendations, one of my friends recommended Asian. I found this place online and, based on the reviews and pics, knew my husband and I had to try it. The restaurant itself is very nice. It has an intimate atmosphere. The cherry and jalapeño peppers added a nice kick and same goes for the salsa. The cheese sauce tasted like real cheese, not the processed stuff you get at sports games, etc. The tortilla chips were fresh, crispy, and thick. For dinner, I ordered the sweet crispy tofu tacos, which come with red and green salsa, fries, and ketchup. I have had Korean tacos before, but these are the best I've had! The tofu was perfectly crisp, well-seasoned, and complemented by the spicy and tangy mayo. The avocado, lettuce, red onion, and tomato were fresh, further adding to the deliciousness. The avocado tasted like it had sugar in it, which I've never tasted before in avocado, but it works! The corn tortillas were very addicting. Like the tofu, the fries were perfectly crisp and well-seasoned. I wish I had not eaten lunch earlier in the day, because I could have eaten every bit of this entree! My husband ordered the large size of the Korean fried chicken and, on a funny note, did not expect to get so much. Regardless, he loved the chicken, although he was unable to finish it all.
